MoO3 has a unique rigid double‐layer structure, which makes it a real challenge to prepare nanotubular structures. The controlled synthesis of MoO3 single‐walled nanotubes (SWNTs) is achieved through a cluster‐based self‐assembly route on the dodecanethiol/water interface. Various factors are studied at length, including precursor type, reaction time, temperature, pH value, and their influence on the morphology of products. The concept of “self‐assembly—from simple clusters to nanostructures” is proposed here based on preliminary results from the synthesis of MoO3 SWNTs, which provides a new aspect for traditional synthetic chemistry of nanomaterials and polyoxometalates. 相似文献

Natural materials, such as bone and spider silk, possess remarkable properties as a result of sophisticated nanoscale structuring. They have inspired the design of synthetic materials whose structure at the nanoscale is carefully engineered or where nanoparticles, such as rods or wires, are self‐assembled. Although much work has been done in recent years to create ordered structures using diblock copolymers and template‐assisted assembly, no reports describe highly ordered, three‐dimensional nanotube arrays within a polymeric material. There are only reports of two‐dimensional network structures and structures on micrometer‐size scales. Here, we describe an approach that uses plasticized colloidal particles as a template for the self‐assembly of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into ordered, three‐dimensional networks. The nanocomposites can be strained by over 200% and still retain high conductivity when relaxed. The method is potentially general and so may find applications in areas such as sensing, photonics, and functional composites.

Summary: Supramolecular self‐assembly of poly(methyl methacrylate)‐grafted multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNT‐g‐PMMA) was reported herein. The MWNT‐g‐PMMA (85 wt.‐% PMMA) dispersed in tetrahydrofuran could self‐assemble into suprastructures on surfaces such as gold, mica, silicon, quartz, or carbon films. With decreasing concentration of the MWNT‐g‐PMMA from 3 to 0.1 mg · mL−1, the assembled structures changed from cellular and basketwork‐like forms to multilayer cellular networks and individual needles. SEM, AFM, and TEM measurements confirmed the morphology of the assembled suprastructures, and revealed the assembly mechanism. Phase separation during evaporation of the solvent drives the MWNT‐g‐PMMA nanohybrids to assemble and form the suprastructures, and the rigid MWNTs stabilize the structures.

In this article we report on the fabrication of a carbon ionic liquid electrode (CILE) by using a room temperature ionic liquid of 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BMIMPF6) as binder. It was further modified by single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) to get a SWCNTs modified CILE denoted as SWCNTs/CILE. The redox protein of hemoglobin (Hb) was further immobilized on the surface of SWCNTs/CILE with the help of Nafion film. UV‐vis and FT‐IR spectra indicated that the immobilized Hb retained its native conformation in the composite film. The direct electrochemistry of Hb on the SWCNTs/CILE was carefully studied in pH 7.0 phosphate buffer solution (PBS). Cyclic voltammetric results indicated that a pair of well‐defined and quasireversible voltammetric peaks of Hb heme Fe(III)/Fe(II) was obtained with the formal potential (E°') at ?0.306 V (vs. SCE). The electrochemical parameters such as the electron transfer coefficient (α), the electron transfer number (n) and the apparent heterogeneous electron transfer rate constant (ks) were calculated as 0.34, 0.989 and 0.538 s?1, respectively. The fabricated Hb modified electrode showed good electrocatalytic ability to the reduction of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) in the concentration range from 20.0 to 150.0 mmol/L with the detection limit of 10.0 mmol/L (3σ). 相似文献

Through chemical functionalization of single‐walled carbon nanotubes, the prerequisites for possible applications of such nanostructures are established. The derivatized tubes differ from the crude materials in their good solubility, which enables both a more extensive characterization and subsequent chemical reactivity. Current derivatization methods include defect and covalent sidewall functionalization, as well as noncovalent exo‐ and endohedral functionalization. In this way, for example, a range of nanotubes can be prepared: with sidewall substituents, wrapped with polymers, or with guest molecules included. The current state of the literature is presented in this Minireview. 相似文献

Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) synthesized with different methods are investigated by using multiple characterization techniques, including Raman scattering, optical absorption, and X‐ray absorption near edge structure, along with X‐ray photoemission by following the total valence bands and C 1s core‐level spectra. Four different SWNT materials (produced by arc discharge, HiPco, laser ablation, and CoMoCat methods) contain nanotubes with diameters ranging from 0.7 to 2.8 nm. The diameter distribution and the composition of metallic and semiconducting tubes of the SWNT materials are strongly affected by the synthesis method. Similar sp2 hybridization of carbon in the oxygenated SWNT structure can be found, but different surface functionalities are introduced while the tubes are processed. All the SWNTs demonstrate stronger plasmon resonance excitations and lower electron binding energy than graphite and multiwalled carbon nanotubes. These SWNT materials also exhibit different valence‐band X‐ray photoemission features, which are considerably affected by the nanotube diameter distribution and metallic/semiconducting composition. 相似文献

Double‐walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) are materials in high demand due to their superior properties. However, it is very challenging to prepare DWCNTs samples of high purity. In particular, the removal of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) contaminants is a major problem. Here, a procedure for a selective removal of thin‐diameter SWCNTs from their mixtures with DWCNTs by lithium vapor treatment is investigated. The results are evaluated by Raman spectroscopy and in situ Raman spectroelectrochemistry. It is shown that the amount of SWCNTs was reduced by about 35 % after lithium vapor treatment of the studied SWCNTs–DWCNTs mixture. 相似文献

The separation and isolation of semiconducting and metallic single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) on a large scale remains a barrier to many commercial applications. Selective extraction of semiconducting SWNTs by wrapping and dispersion with conjugated polymers has been demonstrated to be effective, but the structural parameters of conjugated polymers that dictate selectivity are poorly understood. Here, we report nanotube dispersions with a poly(fluorene‐co‐pyridine) copolymer and its cationic methylated derivative, and show that electron‐deficient conjugated π‐systems bias the dispersion selectivity toward metallic SWNTs. Differentiation of semiconducting and metallic SWNT populations was carried out by a combination of UV/Vis‐NIR absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and electrical conductivity measurements. These results provide new insight into the rational design of conjugated polymers for the selective dispersion of metallic SWNTs. 相似文献

It is demonstrated that an optically transparent and electrically conductive polyethylene oxide (PEO) film is fabricated by the introduction of individualized single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). The incorporated SWNTs in the PEO film sustain their intrinsic electronic and optical properties and, in addition, the intrinsic properties of the polymer matrix are retained. The individualized SWNTs with smaller diameter provide high transmittance as well as good electrical conductivity in PEO films.

A paste electrode (SWNT&RTIL PE) has been prepared using carboxylic group‐functionalized short single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) mixed with 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BMIMPF6, one kind of room temperature ionic liquid, RTIL). Its electrochemical behavior was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in comparison with the paste electrode using mineral oil as a binder. Results highlighted the advantages of the paste electrode: not only higher conductivity, but also lower potential separation (ΔEp), higher peak current (ip) and better reversibility towards dopamine (DA), methylene blue (MB) and K3[Fe(CN)6]. The SWNT&RTIL PE could be used to detect the number of guanine bases and adenine bases contents in per mol oligonucleotides according to the current response in the range of 0.05–2.0 nM. Based on the current response of guanine bases, oligonucleotides could be detected sensitively in the B–R buffer solution with a detection limit of 9.9 pM. The heterogeneous electron transfer rate constant (ks) of guanine bases contents in the oligonucleotides was investigated and its value was 0.90 s?1. In essence the SWNT&RTIL PE showed high sensitivity, reliability, stability and reproducibility for the detection of DNA. 相似文献

Summary: Polyaniline (PANI)/Au composite nanotubes and nanofibers are synthesized through a self‐assembly process in the presence of camphorsulfonic acid and hydrochloric acid, as dopants, respectively. The PANI/Au composites are characterized by FT‐IR, UV‐vis, and thermogravimetric analysis to verify the incorporation of the Au nanoparticles and determine the Au content. Structural characterization is performed using SEM, TEM and X‐ray diffraction. The presence of the Au nanoparticles results in an increased conductivity and improved crystallinity of the PANI. The self‐assembly method employed here is a simple and inexpensive route to synthesize multifunctional nanotubes and nanofibers and could be extended to prepare other inorganic nanoparticle/PANI composites.

Gold nanoparticles were grown on single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) coated with a thiol‐functionalized ionic liquid resulting in the formation of core‐shell structures referred to as SWNT‐IL‐Au nanohybrid materials. The nanohybrid materials were characterized by high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR‐TEM), Raman‐, and UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy. The nanohybrid materials were found to enter lysosomes in HeLa cells and show negligible cytotoxicity. Interestingly, they have an enhanced NIR absorption that is effectively transferred into heat to cause localized hyperthermia, resulting in rapid cell death; overall, the material appears to have excellent properties for photothermal therapeutic applications. 相似文献

We report a facile method to accomplish the crosslinking reaction of PVA with SWNTs, MWNTs, and C‐60 using MW irradiation. Nanocomposites of PVA crosslinked with SWNT, MWNT and C‐60 were prepared expeditiously by reacting the respective carbon nanotubes with 3 wt.‐% PVA under MW irradiation, maintaining a temperature of 100 °C, representing a radical improvement over literature methods to prepare such crosslinked PVA composites. This general preparative procedure is versatile and provides a simple route to manufacture useful SWNT, MWNT and C‐60 nanocomposites.
