Submanifolds with parallel mean curvature vector play important roles in differential geometry, theory of harmonic maps as well as in physics. Spatial surfaces in 4D Lorentzian space forms with parallel mean curvature vector were classified by B. Y. Chen and J. Van der Veken in [9]. Recently, spatial surfaces with parallel mean curvature vector in arbitrary pseudo-Euclidean spaces are also classified in [7]. In this article, we classify spatial surfaces with parallel mean curvature vector in pseudo-Riemannian spheres and pseudo-hyperbolic spaces with arbitrary codimension and arbitrary index. Consequently, we achieve the complete classification of spatial surfaces with parallel mean curvature vector in all pseudo-Riemannian space forms. As an immediate by-product, we obtain the complete classifications of spatial surfaces with parallel mean curvature vector in arbitrary Lorentzian space forms.   相似文献

The problem of thermally driven acoustic oscillations is treated for tubes with variable cross-section, with particular emphasis on the possible reduction of the necessary temperature ratio for excitation. Tubes with optimal conditions in the vicinity of the temperature jump, and with big cross-sections in parts with constant temperature are found to give the best performance in this respect. Included in the family of devices which were treated is the classical Sondhauss-tube. Experiments which give a striking confirmation of the theory are reported.  相似文献

The joint queue length process in polling systems with and without switchover times is studied. If the service discipline in each queue satisfies a certain property it is shown that the joint queue length process at polling instants of a fixed queue is a multitype branching process (MTBP) with immigration. In the case of polling models with switchover times, it turns out that we are dealing with an MTBP with immigration in each state, whereas in the case of polling models without switchover times we are dealing with an MTBP with immigration in state zero. The theory of MTBPs leads to expressions for the generating function of the joint queue length process at polling instants. Sufficient conditions for ergodicity and moment calculations are also given.This work was done while the author was at the Centre for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.  相似文献

This paper deals with the problem of a thermoelastic half-space with a permeating substance in contact with the bounding plane in the context of the theory of generalized thermoelastic diffusion with one relaxation time and with variable electrical and thermal conductivity. The bounding surface of the half-space is taken to be traction free and subjected to a time dependent thermal shock. The solution is obtained in the Laplace transform domain by a direct approach. A numerical technique is employed to obtain the solution in the physical domain. It is found that there exist two coupled waves, one of which is elastic and the other is thermal, and a third wave affects diffusion mainly. A comparison is made with the results obtained in a thermoelastic medium with and without diffusion in the following cases : (a) the electrical and thermal conductivities have constant values, (b) the presence of magnetic field and (c) the generalized theory in thermoelasticity.  相似文献

利用复变函数理论进行地下任意开挖断面隧洞围岩应力分析的前提,是根据围岩应力边界条件方程推导出两个解析函数.从Harnack定理出发,将隧洞围岩应力边界条件方程转化成积分方程;把Laurent级数有限项表示的映射函数引入积分方程中,将以任意开挖断面为边界条件的解析函数求解转化成以单位圆周线为边界条件的求解问题.对积分方程中各被积函数在讨论域内的解析性进行了分析,在此基础上利用留数理论求解了方程中各项积分值,并获得了用来表示任意开挖断面隧道围岩应力的两个解析函数通式.给出了圆形和椭圆形隧道的两个解析函数求解算例,所获得的结果与文献中的结果一致.利用留数理论推导出的两个解析函数通式,适用于任意开挖断面隧洞的围岩应力解析解的计算,且计算过程更为简单,计算结果更为精确.  相似文献

The dual risk model describes the surplus of a company with fixed expense rate and occasional random income inflows, called gains. Consider the dual risk model with two streams of gains. Type I gains arrive according to a Poisson process, and type II gains arrive according to a general renewal process. We show that the survival probability of the company can be expressed in terms of the survival probability in a dual risk process with renewal arrivals with initial reserve 0, and the survival probability in the dual risk process with Poisson arrivals in finite time.  相似文献

We study how to reduce the smoothing problems with obstacles to the solution of smoothing problems with weights. We prove that, for problems with obstacles in Hilbert spaces, and in the classical case, especially, in several variable problems, the associated Lagrangian has a saddle point. The present paper deals with differential equations with edge degeneration in spaces with asymptotics. The problem of packing ellipsoids in the three-dimensional space is considered in the present work. The proposed approach combines heuristic techniques with the resolution of recently introduced nonlinear programming models in order to construct solutions with a large number of ellipsoids. The introduced approach is able to pack identical and non-identical ellipsoids within a variety of containers. Moreover, it allows the inclusion of additional positioning constraints. This fact makes the proposed approach suitable for constructing large-scale solutions with specific positioning constraints in which density may not be the main issue. Numerical experiments illustrate that the introduced approach delivers good quality solutions with a computational cost that scales linearly with the number of ellipsoids; and solutions with more than a million ellipsoids are exhibited.  相似文献

Investigation of the rolling of two cylinders on the device described in this paper has shown that a study of the rolling friction of bodies coated with polymer films offers a means of investigating adhesion processes. It has been found that the resistance to rolling of bodies coated with nonadhesive polymers has a tendency to increase with increase in velocity, in accordance with the electrical theory of adhesion. We consider the Tricomi problem with a type change line that does not coincide with any of the coordinate axes, with a circular sector in the ellipticity domain, and with a triangle formed by the type change line and segments of characteristics in the hyperbolicity domain. We also consider the adjoint problem. The solution of both problems is obtained in the form of a series. For a more general case with a curve of arbitrary shape in the ellipticity domain, we present the maximum principle for both problems.  相似文献

This paper presents a general impulsively-coupled complex switched network (ICCSN) model with parametric uncertainties and multiple Time-varying Delays in both the linear and nonlinear terms. The model is more general than those in the literature in that it contains switching behaviors on nodes and impulsive effects in the whole topology. Robust synchronization of ICCSNs with parametric uncertainties and time-varying delays is investigated. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, delay-independent synchronization conditions for ICCSNs with uncertainties and delays are obtained. In addition, we consider five special synchronization cases: ICCSNs with delays in both the linear and nonlinear terms, ICCSNs with parametric uncertainties and delays either in the linear or in the nonlinear term, ICCSNs without switching behaviors but with parametric uncertainties and delays, and impulsively-switched-coupled complex switched network with uncertainties and delays. A systematic-design procedure is presented, and a numerical example is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization strategy. A comparative study of the maximum impulsive intervals for synchronization is presented for all special cases.  相似文献

Recent photoelastic data are used to obtain values of the change in refractive index with density for a series of cubic crystals. These experimental values are found to be smaller than those calculated from either the Lorentz-Lorenz or the Drude equations. The difference between the experimental and calculated values results from a decrease in the molar polarizability with increase in density. In MgO the change in polarizability is relatively large and the refractive index actually decreases with increase in density while the other crystals show an increase. The decrease in molar polarizability with density as measured by the strain-polarizability, λ0, can be correlated with the amount of homopolar binding and ion overlap in the crystal. It is suggested that an increase in density increases the amount of homopolar binding and ion overlap. Further information about the dynamic changes in polarizability during vibration of the ions can be obtained from the change in refractive index with temperature at constant density and from Raman spectra.  相似文献

Many properties of Brownian motion on spaces with varying dimension (BMVD in abbreviation) have been explored in Chen and Lou (2018). In this paper, we study Brownian motion with drift on spaces with varying dimension (BMVD with drift in abbreviation). Such a process can be conveniently defined by a regular Dirichlet form that is not necessarily symmetric. Through the method of Duhamel’s principle, it is established in this paper that the transition density of BMVD with drift has the same type of two-sided Gaussian bounds as that for BMVD (without drift). As a corollary, we derive Green function estimate for BMVD with drift.  相似文献

The theorem on existence of the Liapunov functionals and the theorem on stability in first approximation for a stochastic differential equation with aftereffect are proved.The suggestion of the replacement of Liapunov functions by functionals [1] in the investigation of the stability of ordinary differential equations with lag, has been widely utilized in dealing with determinate systems, as well as in the case of linear and nonlinear stochastic systems (see e. g. [2 – 11]). Results concerning the stability in the first approximation were obtained for stochastic systems in [12 – 18] and others. Use of Liapunov functionals for the differential equations with aftereffect was first encountered in [1, 19, 20] where the inversion theorems were proved and conditions for the stability in first approximation were obtained.Below a stochastic differential equation with aftereffect is investigated where the random perturbations represent an arbitrary process with independent increments.  相似文献

The relationship between acquisitionism and participationism is a challenge in research on and with teachers. This study uses a patterns-of-participation framework (PoP), which aims to develop coherent and dynamic understandings of teaching as well as to meet the conceptual and methodological problems of other approaches. The paper presents PoP theoretically, but also illustrates its empirical use. It presents a novice teacher, Anna, who often engages with mathematics and with aspects of ‘the reform’ in ways that link well with how she builds relationships with her students and positions herself in her team of teachers. However, in other situations her engagement with mathematics is overshadowed by her involvement in other practices. The study suggests that there is some potential in PoP in spite of methodological difficulties.  相似文献
