The paper is an inquiry of the algebraic foundations of the theory of dispersionless integrable hierarchies, like the dispersionless KP and modified KP hierarchies and the universal Whitham hierarchy of genus zero. It stands out for the idea of interpreting these hierarchies as equations of coisotropic deformations for the structure constants of certain associative algebras. It discusses the link between the structure constants and Hirota’s tau function, and shows that the dispersionless Hirota bilinear equations are, within this approach, a way of writing the associativity conditions for the structure constants in terms of the tau function. It also suggests a simple interpretation of the algebro-geometric construction of the universal Whitham equations of genus zero due to Krichever.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss how to construct the bilinear identities for the wave functions of the (γn, σk)-KP hierarchy and its Hirota’s bilinear forms. First, based on the corresponding squared eigenfunction symmetry of the KP hierarchy, we prove that the wave functions of the (γn, σk)-KP hierarchy are equal to the bilinear identities given in Sec.3 by introducing N auxiliary parameters zi, i = 1, 2,?…?, N. Next, we derived the bilinear equations for the tau-function of the (γn, σk)-KP hierarchy. Then, we obtain the bilinear equations for the taufunction of the mixed type of KP equation with self-consistent sources (KPESCS), which includes both the first and the second type of KPESCS as special cases by setting n = 2 and k = 3. Finally, using the relation between the Hirota bilinear derivatives and the usual partial derivatives, we show the procedure of translating the Hirota’s bilinear equations into the mixed type of KPESCS.  相似文献

To each partition function of cohomological field theory one can associate an Hamiltonian integrable hierarchy of topological type. The Givental group acts on such partition functions and consequently on the associated integrable hierarchies. We consider the Hirota and Lax formulations of the deformation of the hierarchy of N copies of KdV obtained by an infinitesimal action of the Givental group. By first deforming the Hirota quadratic equations and then applying a fundamental lemma to express it in terms of pseudo-differential operators, we show that such deformed hierarchy admits an explicit Lax formulation. We then compare the deformed Hamiltonians obtained from the Lax equations with the analogous formulas obtained in Buryak et al. (J Differ Geom 92:153–185, 2012), Buryak et al. (J Geom Phys 62:1639–1651, 2012) to find that they agree. We finally comment on the possibility of extending the Hirota and Lax formulation on the whole orbit of the Givental group action.  相似文献

Sato theory provides a correspondence between solutions to the KP hierarchy and points in an infinite dimensional Grassmannian. In this correspondence, flows generated infinitesimally by powers of the “shift” operator give time dependence to the first coordinate of an arbitrarily selected point, making it a tau-function. These tau-functions satisfy a number of integrable equations, including the Hirota bilinear difference equation (HBDE). Here, we rederive the HBDE as a statement about linear maps between Grassmannians. In addition to illustrating the fundamental nature of this equation in the standard theory, we make use of this geometric interpretation of the HBDE to answer the question of what other infinitesimal generators could be used for similarly creating tau-functions. The answer to this question involves a “rank one condition”, tying this investigation to the existing results on integrable systems involving such conditions and providing an interpretation for their significance in terms of the relationship between the HBDE and the geometry of Grassmannians.  相似文献

Using the Weil–Brezin–Zak transform of solid state physics, we describe line bundles over elliptic curves in terms of Weyl operators. We then discuss the connection with finitely generated projective modules over the algebra A θ of the noncommutative torus. We show that such A θ -modules have a natural interpretation as Moyal deformations of vector bundles over an elliptic curve E τ , under the condition that the deformation parameter θ and the modular parameter τ satisfy a non-trivial relation.  相似文献

Frobenius manifolds (solutions of WDVV equations) in canonical coordinates are determined by the system of Darboux–Egoroff equations. This system of partial differential equations appears as a specific subset of the n-component KP hierarchy. KP representation theory and the related Sato infinite Grassmannian are used to construct solutions of this Darboux–Egoroff system and the related Frobenius manifolds. Finally we show that for these solutions Dubrovin's isomonodromy tau-function can be expressed in the KP tau-function. Received: 1 September 1998 / Accepted: 7 March 1999  相似文献

Abstract

Considering the coupled envelope equations in nonlinear couplers, the question of integrability is attempted. It is explicitly shown that Hirota’s bilinear method is one of the simple and alternative techniques to Painlevé analysis to obtain the integrability conditions of the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (CNLS) type equations. We also show that the coupled Hirota equation introduced by Tasgal and Potasek is the next hierarchy of the inverse scattering solvable CNLS equation. The results are in agreement with the known results.  相似文献

It is shown that the celebrated Menelaus relation, Hirota–Miwa bilinear equation for KP hierarchy and Fay's trisecant formula similar to the WDVV equation are associativity conditions for structure constants of certain three-dimensional quasi-algebra.  相似文献

We study the geometrical meaning of the Faà di Bruno polynomials in the context of KP theory. They provide a basis in a subspace W of the universal Grassmannian associated to the KP hierarchy. When W comes from geometrical data via the Krichever map, the Faà di Bruno recursion relation turns out to be the cocycle condition for (the Welters hypercohomology group describing) the deformations of the dynamical line bundle on the spectral curve together with the meromorphic sections which give rise to the Krichever map. Starting from this, one sees that the whole KP hierarchy has a similar cohomological meaning.  相似文献

A method is proposed to construct a new extended KP hierarchy, which includes two types of KP equation with self-consistent sources and admits reductions to k-constrained KP hierarchy and to Gelfand-Dickey hierarchy with sources. It provides a general way to construct soliton equations with sources and their Lax representations.  相似文献

We tackle the problem of interpreting the Darboux transformation for the KP hierarchy and its relations with the modified KP hierarchy from a geometric point of view. This is achieved by introducing the concept of a Darboux covering. We construct a Darboux covering of the KP equations and obtain a new hierarchy of equations, which we call the Darboux-KP hierarchy (DKP). We employ the DKP equations to discuss the relationships among the KP equations, the modified KP equations, and the discrete KP equations. Our approach also handles the various reductions of the KP hierarchy. We show that the KP hierarchy is a projection of the DKP, the mKP hierarchy is a DKP restriction to a suitable invariant submanifold, and that the discrete KP equations are obtained as iterations of the DKP ones. Abstract

For the first time we show that the quasiclassical limit of the symmetry constraint of the Sato operator for the KP hierarchy leads to the generalized Zakharov reduction of the Sato function for the dispersionless KP (dKP) hierarchy which has been proved to be result of symmetry constraint of the dKP hierarchy recently. By either regarding the symmetry constrained dKP hierarchy as its stationary case or taking the dispersionless limit of the KP hierarchy with self-consistent sources directly, we construct a new integrable dispersionless hierarchy, i.e., the dKP hierarchy with self-consistent sources and find its associated conservation equations (or equations of Hamilton-Jacobi type). Some solutions of the dKP equation with self-consistent sources are also obtained by hodograph transformations.  相似文献

Using symmetric function techniques, we derive closed-form expressions for the Hirota polynomials for thepth modified KP and BKP hierarchies in terms of Schur and SchurQ-polynomials, respectively. The Hirota polynomials for the BKP hierarchy can also be expressed as Pfaffians while those for thepth modified KP hierarchies can, under certain conditions, be expressed as determinants.  相似文献

We study the Whitham equations for the Camassa-Holm equation. The equations are neither strictly hyperbolic nor genuinely nonlinear. We are interested in the initial value problem of the Whitham equations. When the initial values are given by a step function, the Whitham solution is self-similar. When the initial values are given by a smooth function, the Whitham solution exists within a cusp in the x-t plane. On the boundary of the cusp, the Whitham solution matches the Burgers solution, which exists outside the cusp.  相似文献

We present a new symmetry flow of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy, which origins from the rescaling of whole “multi-time“ valuables. This flow describes the deformation of solutions of the KP hierarchy with respect to a noncommutative parameter. It is shown that the introduced rescaling symmetry flow does not commute with the ordinary evolution flows of the KP hierarchy, but commutes with the evolution flows with respect to slow-variables.  相似文献

In this paper, we construct the noncommutative B and C type KP hierarchies using pseudo-differential operators and reducing conditions. Further a series of additional flows of the noncommutative B and C type KP hierarchies will be defined and the additional symmetries constitute the B and C type infinite dimensional Lie algebra W1+∞. In addition, the generating function of the additional symmetries can also be proved to have a nice form in terms of wave functions. Further, the string equations of the noncommutative B and C type KP hierarchies are derived.  相似文献

We prove the dispersionless Hirota equations for the dispersionless Toda, dispersionless coupled modified KP and dispersionless KP hierarchies using an idea from classical complex analysis. We also prove that the Hirota equations characterize the tau functions for each of these hierarchies. As a result, we establish the links between the hierarchies.  相似文献

In this work, we study the nonlinear integrable couplings of the KdV and the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equations. The simplified Hirota’s method will be used for this study. We show that these couplings possess multiple soliton solutions the same as the multiple soliton solutions of the KdV and the KP equations, but differ only in the coefficients of the transformation used. This difference exhibits soliton solutions for some equations and anti-soliton solutions for others.  相似文献
