Interference of effects of different levels and magnitudes in producing a net magnetooptical response was considered for the first time in structures similar to magnetophotonic crystals at different wavelengths of the incident irradiation in regions far from plasmon resonances. Contributions of interference and diffraction phenomena in maxima of different orders in three-dimensional systems of the magnetophotonic crystal type were studied. Use of the integral response in the analysis of the magnetooptical effects was shown to lead to disappearing of the interference phenomena. The zero-order diffraction maximum reflects adequately the magnetic component of the magnetooptical response. Numerical estimates of the observed diffraction and interference effects are reported. 相似文献

The behavior of biperiodic stripe domain structures in quasi-uniaxial magnetic films with a near-critical thickness is studied by scanning magnetic force microscopy and magnetooptical diffraction. In these films, antiphase and hybrid biperiodic domain structures are found to be absent, and the phase transitions between monoperiodic and in-phase biperiodic domain structures are shown to proceed through two-dimensional domain arrays that are amorphized in the arrangement of near-surface distortions in the domain-wall profile. 相似文献

Polar and longitudinal magnetooptical Kerr effects in magnetic film/spacer/magnetic substrate system

The paper deals with the electromagnetic theory of longitudinal and normal incidence polar magnetooptical Kerr effects (MOKE)
in sandwich structures consisting of a magnetic film on a thick magnetic substrate separated by a nonmagnetic spacer. These
structures are employed in fundamental studies of magnetic exchange coupling, tunnel magnetoresistance, spin polarized current,etc., as well as in the design of the magnetoelectronic devices,e.g., magnetic random access memories. The results are expressed in terms of the Jones reflection matrix. This makes the analysis
of the observed MOKE in various experimental set-ups easier. To first order in off-diagonal elements of the permittivity tensor,
the analytical expressions approximate the results obtained using rigorous matrix formalisms with a little loss in accuracy,
provided the magnetooptical effects quadratic in the offdiagonal elements are negligible. The total MOKE is expressed as a
a sum of components originating from magnetic film and magnetic substrate, respectively. The components enter the analytical
expressions with different phases and may be identified separately by a proper control of the polarization state and photon
energy of the incident radiation, angle of incidence, nonmagnetic spacer thickness, and radiation wavelength. The formulae
are derived without any restriction on the magnetic film thickness. However, for a rapid evaluation of the trends the MOKE
response is also treated under the assumption that the thickness of the magnetic film is much smaller than the radiation wavelength.

Visualizing the domain structure and the fine structure of domain walls in orthoferrites based on Raman was proposed. The Raman mapping imaging was obtained for the straight and curved domain wall at line 221 cm−1. The optimum parameters of a dielectric layer near the substrate in the interference multilayer structure are calculated. The calculations showed that this layer should have the index of refraction n∼3. The results are presented of measuring the Kerr angle of magnetooptical rotation in the multilayer structure, in which GeO films were used as dielectric layers for the first time. The maximum Kerr angle of rotation and magnetooptical quality observed in this system were 0.75° and 0.34°, respectively. These values exceed those inherent in the known information carriers, which demonstrates the advantage of this structure for use in magnetooptical discs. 相似文献

Expressions are obtained for the diffracted field in the Fresnel and Fraunhoffer diffraction domains. It is shown that the field in the diffraction pattern is the superposition of two orthogonally polarized fields. The distribution of a field with polarization orthogonal to the incident radiation depends substantially on the domain structure parameters. The structural, optical, and magnetooptical properties of Co-SiO2 granular films are studied. It is found that the magnetooptical response is considerably enhanced in samples with a metal component concentration close to the percolation threshold. The Co nanogranules formed in the SiO2 matrix exhibit ferromagnetic properties and are ordered into the fcc structure, which is confirmed by magnetooptical investigations. The magnetooptical properties of nanocomposites are simulated in the effective-medium approximation. It is shown that the singularities found in the magnetooptical spectra are related to the excitation of plasmon resonances in granular films. 相似文献

The transmission and reflection of light by a ferromagnetic structure with a noncollinear orientation of the magnetization vectors of layers lying in the plane of the film is considered. The characteristic matrix of the structure that relates the wave amplitudes at the entrance to the system and at the exit from it and that determines the magnetooptical properties of the structure is calculated. The magnetooptical characteristics of this structure are shown to significantly depend on the angle between the magnetization vectors of layers and on the number of layers. Both the magnitude and the character of these dependences are analyzed in relation to the angle of incidence and to the polarization of the incident wave. Such an analysis makes it possible to optimize the magnetooptical properties of this structure. 相似文献

Procedures based on the Yeh’s 4 × 4 matrix formalism for the treatment of the electromagnetic interactions in multilayers
at longitudinal and polar magnetizations and at an arbitrary angle of incidence are described. With the restriction to the
magnetooptical effects linear in the off-diagonal permittivity tensor element the characteristic matrices for magnetic layers
are derived. They can be considerably simplified when the magnetic layer is ultrathin,i.e., when its thickness is much smaller than the radiation wavelength. From them simple closed form solutions useful for a rapid

The solutions of the equations of coupled modes, describing the propagation and conversion of waveguide modes in a magnetooptical
planar waveguide with a band domain structure, are obtained in the two-mode approximation. Dispersion relations are derived
for unidirectional and oppositely traveling modes. The mode coupling as a function of the parameters of the structure and

Transmission and reflection of a normally incident wave from a magnetic superlattice consisting of 2N ferromagnetic layers with alternating orientation of the magnetization vector are considered. The characteristic matrix of a superlattice relating wave amplitudes at the entrance to the system and at the exit from it is calculated in the closed form and Jones matrices determining all the basic magnetooptical characteristics of the structure (transmission and reflection coefficients, the degree of polarization of transmitted and reflected waves, and so on) are constructed. 结合有效介质理论和薄膜光学的抗反射设计方法,设计了基于0.65μm工作波长的亚波长金属偏振分束光栅,给出了光栅的优化设计参数,采用严格耦合波理论分析了光栅的偏振分束特性.结果表明,亚波长金属光栅对TE偏振表现为金属膜特性,具有高反射,对TM偏振表现为介质膜特性,具有高透射,在-30°<θ<30°的大入射角范围和0.47μm<λ<0.80μm的宽入射波谱内,该光栅的透射光和反射光均具有高偏振消光比和低插入损耗的特点.

The features of the optical and magnetooptical properties of granular alloys with giant magnetoresistance in the IR region
are examined in reference to the magnetorefractive effect and the equatorial Kerr effect. Calculations are performed within
the semiclassical approximation with consideration of spin-dependent scattering in the bulk of the granules and on their surfaces
(interfaces). The expressions obtained for σ
xx(ω) and σ
xy(ω) are found to be sensitive to scattering on the surfaces and in the bulk of the granules, as well as to granule size, the
type of impurities trapped on the interfaces, the frequency of the incident light, and the external magnetic field. For granular
thin films exhibiting giant magnetoresistance, the theory predicts significant relative changes in the optical reflection
and transmission coefficients when the sample is magnetized to saturation (0.02% and 20%, respectively, for giant magnetoresistance
of the order of 20%), as well as Kerr and Faraday effects that are nonlinear with respect to magnetization.

The magnetooptical method is used to investigate transformation of the domain structure of a cubic Tb0.2Y2.8Fe5O12 ferrimagnetic material at the temperature of spontaneous spin flip phase transition (SFPF). It is demonstrated that the SFPF
is observed in a certain temperature interval in which low- and high-temperature magnetic phase domains coexist. It is established
that the character of evolution of the domain configuration in the temperature interval of the spin flip depends significantly
on the mechanical stresses presented in the crystal. Experimental results are interpreted in the context of the existing SFPF
