Nanogratings formed by parallel gold nanowires on a quartz substrate have been fabricated. Their transmission and reflection spectra have been studied experimentally. Numerical simulation of the transmission (reflection) spectra has been performed. The simulated spectra agree well with the experimental ones. A package has been proposed, which combines the experimental techniques of the structure fabrication and theoretical methods for calculating the parameters of optical spectra. This package is a promising tool for designing and fabricating optoelectronic devices such as filters, polarizers, and switches. 相似文献

Dual-functional diffraction grating based on selective metal deposition of photochromic diarylethene
Dual-functional diffraction gratings, which show different diffractions in transmission and reflection, are proposed as an essential optical element. We utilize a flattening effect of photochromic diarylethene (DAE) in the low glass transition temperature state and selective metal deposition to prepare the gratings. The uncolored lines of the colored DAE layer on a grating substrate with grooves were formed by red-laser scanning, and Mg evaporation onto the substrate without a shadow mask enabled Mg-line formation at right angles to the grooves. After being stored at 27 °C for 500 min, the sample showed two-dimensional diffraction in reflection but one-dimensional diffraction in transmission, meaning that a dual-functional grating was achieved. This result shows great potential as a key element for various future optical devices and systems. 相似文献

We introduce photoreprogrammable dual-function gratings, which show different diffraction in transmission and reflection. Parallel metal lines on the photochromic diarylethene (DAE) surface were prepared by selective metal deposition, enabling one-dimensional diffraction in transmission and reflection. Then, another isomerization pattern was programmed on the DAE layer by light irradiation. This grating generated unique diffraction: one-dimensional diffraction in the reflection but two-dimensional diffraction in the transmission, and a dual-function grating was achieved. This programmed state on the DAE layer could be erased by UV irradiation and could be reprogrammed to generate different diffraction by visible laser scanning. This result shows the great potential of the photoreprogrammable dual-function grating as a key element in various future optical devices and systems. 相似文献

A novel optical arrangement for heterodyne detection of laser-induced gratings based on the use of a phase mask for both excitation and probe beams provides phase stability and control without the need for an active stabilization scheme. The arrangement greatly simplifies the laser-induced grating experiment. The performance of the technique in both transmission and reflection geometries is illustrated through measurements of bulk and surface acoustic waves generated by picosecond laser pulses. 相似文献

In this paper, super Moiré grating (SMG) with multiple superimposed gratings, in the best of our knowledge, is studied at first time. A flat multichannel transmission filter based on a chirped SMG with three superimposed gratings can be achieved, which benefits wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) system. At the same time, a reflection filter can also be obtained in a chirped SMG, which can be used as an optical add/drop multiplexer filter for WDM system. 相似文献

The wings of the morpho butterfly demonstrate an iridescent blue color over wide viewing angles. The mechanism that generates this blue color is studied. Optical and transmission electron microscopy of the butterfly wings reveal a complex wing structure with as many as 24 layers with periodic structures. The color generation is caused by interference of the multilayer structure as well as diffraction. It is possible to specially design grating structures so that a specific blue color can be generated and observed over wider angles. To demonstrate the grating concept, complex multigratings are designed and fabricated with electron-beam lithography. The light-diffraction properties of these gratings are presented. 相似文献

研究了基于半导体光放大器(SOA)和双段级联取样光纤光栅构成的新型结构多波长激光器.设 计了取样光纤光栅,计算了其反射谱,模拟了多波长激光器的输出光谱.基于自行制作的SOA 和取样光纤光栅,进行了多波长激光器的实验研究,得到了间隔为0.8nm、输出功率不平坦 度小于1.0dB的11个波长输出.理论和实验两个方面都可以验证:与基于普通取样光栅的多波 长方案相比,基于双段级联取样光栅的方案能改善输出谱平坦度,并可提高可激射波长数.

We demonstrate a novel method that enables one to measure the structure of highly reflecting fiber Bragg gratings. The method is based on measuring both the transmission and reflection spectra of the grating and applying an inverse-scattering algorithm. The use of the transmission spectrum significantly reduces the sensitivity of the reconstruction to measurement noise, and therefore it significantly decreases the measurement duration. We experimentally demonstrate our method for reconstructing the structure of an apodized grating with a reflectivity of 99.91%. 相似文献

By introducing a convergent lens in the phase mask setup and by tilting appropriately the fiber from the phase mask, a linearly chirped fiber grating with an appropriate chirp can be obtained conveniently. Using this method, two groups of fiber gratings, each of them is composed of 8 overlaped linearly chirped fiber gratings but with different center reflection wavelength separations (~0.8 nm and ~1.6 nm, respectively) are fabricated. Experimental results show that, the compensators based on the two groups of fiber gratings can be used to compensate for the dispersion of 8×2.5 Gb/s transmission over 100 km of standard single-mode fiber for multiple channels in optical time-division multiplexing (OTDM) and densed wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). 相似文献

We present two diode laser setups that employ volume holographic transmission gratings to provide optical feedback. The advantage of this kind of grating is high diffraction efficiency and the possibility to place optical elements on both sides of the grating. This allows for advanced external cavities and adjustable feedback efficiency. The first setup is a diode laser in the Littman configuration with the transmission grating replacing the conventional reflection grating. The second setup improves the frequency selectivity by substituting the feedback mirror with a passive resonator. This grating-enhanced external cavity diode laser (GECDL) achieves excellent frequency stability. A prototype of the GECDL setup demonstrates an intrinsic linewidth of 7 kHz and an operation range that covers the full amplification profile of the laser diode. 相似文献

In the experiments of THz wave transmitting through the metallic
cylindrical gratings fabricated by sub-wavelength brass wires, this
paper reports that the discrepancy in the sharp resonances occurred as the
grating perpendicular or parallel to the electric vector are
observed. A simulation based on the finite difference time domain (FDTD)
indicated that the enhanced transmission through the grating is
attributed to the combined effects of surface plasmons and cavity
modes in the perpendicular condition, while the cavity modes
dominate the resonant transmission under the other conditions.
Additional experimental data and calculated results show that
~1 enhanced coupling efficiency can be realized in some THz
frequency, which could be applied to the design and improvement of
various optoelectronic devices, or detection of biological molecule

In this paper we investigate the band structure of guided modes in a segmented planar waveguide for the terahertz range. The dispersion curves are obtained using two different methods. The first approach is based on a close relationship between the band structure and narrow resonances in transmission spectra: transmission spectra are therefore calculated using a transfer matrix method and compared to the experimental ones. The second technique involves a modal analysis approach of diffraction gratings and it is used for direct calculation of the band structure. Propagation of THz guided waves along the grating considered as a segmented dielectric waveguide is also investigated using a bi-directional mode expansion and propagation method. An optical implementation of CMOS/SEED optoelectronic integrated crossbar interconnection network is reported. The CMOS/SEED smart pixel arrays with O/E light windows are used as logical controlling switch nodes. High/lower modulating ratio of the output light density is about 1.4. The light beam is supplied by a 0.85 μm semiconductor laser diode. 8×2 spot arrays formed by a computer-generated phase grating are used as the pumping light beams for CMOS/SEED light modulators. High-precision 2-D optical fiber bundle arrays are used as the I/O access devices. 16×16 optical crossbar interconnection network is realized using our experimental setup. It is easy to couple with CMOS/SEED smart pixel arrays by using 2-D optical fiber bundle arrays as the I/O access devices. Compact in comparison with other optical interconnection systems. 相似文献
