Polarization-dependent gain in a Raman fiber amplifier in the depleted pump regime is investigated. Numerical investigations are realized and show that gain fluctuations are highly reduced when signal and pump interactions allow pump depletion.  相似文献

We consider the effects of the phase and the amplitude fluctuations of the pump field upon the entanglement generation in a non-degenerate optical parametric amplifier. We show that the entanglement between the signal and idler modes in a NOPA system are suppressed by these fluctuations. Our results also show that entanglement is more sensitive to phase fluctuations than to amplitude fluctuations.  相似文献

Quantum correlations among bright pump, signal, and idler beams produced by an optical parametric oscillator, all with different frequencies, are experimentally demonstrated. We show that the degree of entanglement between signal and idler fields is improved by using information on pump fluctuations. To our knowledge this is the first observation of three-color optical quantum correlations.  相似文献

Quantum fluctuations of the signal field are shown to induce packed arrays of cavity solitons in a degenerate optical parametric oscillator above threshold in the limit of large pump finesse relative to the signal finesse. The cavity solitons in the array are formed by locked domain walls, and lead to a highly correlated quantum structure. The effect of the quantum fluctuations is non-trivial since the arrays of cavity solitons have a far less stable than other stable solutions and disappear with decreasing pump finesse. Generation of phase noise in an amplitude limiter using saturation of a fiber-optic parametric amplifier is analyzed. The analysis is based on the coupled differential equations for the amplitudes and phases of pump, signal, and idler involved in the four-wave mixing interaction. The equations are linearized about small fluctuations at operation points and are solved, which results in relations between the input and output phase and amplitude noise. These relations are used in deriving expressions of amplitude signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and variance of phase noise of the output signal in terms of SNRs of input signal and pump. It is shown that optimum pump power exists for minimum output phase noise in the output signal.  相似文献

以钛宝石飞秒振荡源作为种子源,在二级放大器中,采用种子光被同一束抽运光在有效非线性系数最大的平面内放大两次的双通光参量放大结构,实现高增益光参量啁啾脉冲放大.实验得到了3×107的总增益,信号光输出能量为3 mJ,能量晃动小于3%rms,此时参量荧光仅占输出总能量的1%.实验结果表明,采用这种放大系统,提高了信号光与抽运光在时域上的匹配,有效地抑制了参量放大过程中参量荧光的产生,同时提高了系统的稳定性.  相似文献

Polarization spectroscopy of the D lines of rubidium atoms is investigated experimentally,especially with different pump powers and cell temperatures.We find that there are four candidate transitions suitable for frequency stabilization,and optimal pump powers and cell temperatures are also presented to obtain a perfect signal with maximal amplitude and slope.The optimal signal is insensitive to the fluctuations of laser power and the temperature,which can enhance the performance of frequency locking.  相似文献

The quantum analysis of radiation from a degenerate optical parametric oscillator synchronously pumped above its oscillation threshold is presented. It is shown that pulses of signal and pump fields at the output of the oscillator have the following properties: quantum fluctuations of the fields are independent in each individual pulse, but correlated in pulses of the pulse train with a temporal step multiple of the pulse period. The number of essentially correlated pulses is on the order of the oscillator cavity finesse. Cross-correlations between the pump and signal pulses are established above the oscillation threshold. These correlations lead to a significant quantum effect in the integral characteristics of the fields. A theoretical analysis revealed that the spectrum of field fluctuations measured using a balanced homodyne detection technique of phase quadratures of the fields with a pulsed local oscillator reveals quantum noise suppression in the vicinity of frequencies that are multiples of the pulse repetition rate.  相似文献

Amplitude fluctuations of the signal wave of an optical parametric oscillator are evaluated for the case of nonresonant pumping by calculating the decrease of a random deviation ε of the signal amplitude from its stationary value during a round trip through the (ring) resonator. From this, a damping term governing the temporal behaviour of ε is deduced which, together with a Langevin force connected with the spontaneous decay of pump photons into both signal and idler photons, determines the amplitude fluctuations of the signal wave. In addition, it is shown that the same results may be obtained from a mode formalism for signal and idler waves taking into account the spatial variation of the pump wave following from Maxwell's equations.  相似文献

A feasible approach is theoretically demonstrated that suppresses the relative intensity noise (RIN) transfer from pump sources to the proposed Raman fiber laser (RFL) output at the first-order Stokes line. The technique is accomplished by injecting a modulated signal at second-order Stokes shift from the pump wavelength according to the monitored RFL output, which indirectly consumes the pump power fluctuations and results in suppression of the RIN transfer to the RFL output. With the RFL used as a pump source for co-pumped Raman fiber amplifiers, further calculation results show that the Q-factor penalty due to RIN transfer can be dramatically reduced.  相似文献

The statistical properties of CARS light generated by the mixing of incoherent pump and Stokes sources have been investigated analytically. The intensity probability densities for CARS generation from the nonresonant susceptibility are presented for several cases. It is shown that when second harmonic generation is used to provide pump sources of the right frequency, the resulting non-gaussian intensity fluctuations give rise to large enhancements of the nonresonant signal. The magnitude of the effect is dependent on the conversion efficiency of the frequency-doubling process, and is in good agreement with experiment.  相似文献

In the photorefractive wave-mixing system, fluctuation in the signal beam intensity of the photorefractive output with a reflection grating has been analyzed by employing pump feedback method. In this method, fluctuations of the photorefractive wave-mixing process not only induce the intensity fluctuation of the mixing waves but also induce phase fluctuation of the mixing waves. Thus, the phase of the pump and signal beams at the output surface fluctuates in time around a mean value. Using such a positive feedback method of a pump beams, the relative fluctuation in the photorefractive output signal beam intensity with respect to its mean intensity can be minimized significantly without reducing its mean intensity. The factors that control the fluctuation in the signal beam intensity, such as the phase fluctuation of the output pump beam, absorption strength of the material and the feedback reflectivity of the cavity mirrors, on the relative fluctuation of the output signal intensity in the photorefractive wave-mixing systems have been studied in detail. It has been found that the fluctuation of the output signal intensity relative to its mean intensity in the photorefractive wave-mixing system can be suppressed to larger extent by taking lower value of feedback reflectivity of the cavity mirrors which could exist at a higher value of absorption strength of the photorefractive materials.  相似文献

We design an all-optical tunable delay line based on both dispersive and wavelength conversion stages involving modulational instability of a two-frequency pump field propagating in a highly birefringent fiber. More precisely, we numerically show that, by varying the frequency separation between the two orthogonally polarized pump waves, we achieve a controllable and continuous delay of hundreds of picoseconds for signal pulse durations from picoseconds to nanoseconds, without pulse distortion and with only small peak power fluctuations. The proposed method does not require any tunable bandpass filter and can be applied to delay digital data streams at tens of Gbit/s depending on the pump power level.  相似文献

The intensity fluctuations of the radiation of an optical parametric oscillator have been calculated by taking into account the corresponding fluctuations of the pump light. The latter are shown to have a strong influence on the fluctuations of signal and idler waves. In contrary to the laser case, they are essentially reproduced in the signal and idler radiation; more quantitatively, the correlation function 〈?(t1) ?(t2)〉 where ? denotes the deviation of the amplitude of the signal (or idler) wave from its mean value is, for t1 = t2, equal to the corresponding quantity for the pump wave apart from a reduction factor, whose value depends on the resonator losses and the relative excitation of both the pumping laser and the optical parametric oscillator and is found to be of the order of one for the normal case. It is interesting to note that for sufficiently strong pumping, the correlation function 〈?(t1) ?(t2)〉 approaches the value zero for |t1t2| → ∞ not monotonically but in form of damped oscillations.  相似文献

本文用首次通过时间的方法来分析染料激光瞬态的统计性质.提出了单模染料激光的理论模型,用白噪声简化泵浦涨落,通过福克-曾朗克方程求出首次通过时间分布的平均值、方差和偏斜度的解析解.与实验数据和用蒙特卡罗模拟获得的曲线相比较,解析解的结果与实验测量和数值计算符合得很好.  相似文献

We present in this paper a highly stable and efficient KTP-based intracavity optical parametric oscillator with a diode-end-pumped Nd:YVO4/Cr:YAG passively Q-switched laser. At the incident diode pump power of 4 W, the signal (1.57 μm) and idler (3.29 μm) average output powers up to 580 and 100 mW, respectively, have been achieved. The corresponding conversion efficiency from the input diode pump power to the output signal power is 14.5%, while that to the total OPO output (signal+idler) reaches 17%. To the best of our knowledge, these are the highest conversion efficiencies reported to date. After more than four hours of investigation, the OPO power stability better than 2% has been obtained. In addition, efficient cavity dumping of the IOPO has inevitably led to the short pulse duration (1.6 ns) and high peak power output (8.3 kW) at the signal wave. 报道了全光纤结构主动锁模掺铥脉冲激光器,中心波长为1950 nm。利用电光相位调制器对光纤激光器进行腔内相位调制,获得了重复频率为11.884 MHz的主动锁模脉冲输出,脉宽为816 ps。改变泵浦功率、调制信号的频率和幅度,获得了重复频率为4~18 kHz的弛豫振荡调制稳定脉冲输出。锁模和弛豫振荡调制获得的输出脉冲能量波动低于7%。  相似文献

We present an investigation of fluctuations in the start-up of a single-mode, continuous wave, Nd:YAG laser that result from the interplay of classical pump and loss rate noise. We show that the timescale of the classical fluctuations is a key factor in determining the main structural features of relaxation oscillation ensembles. We find that long-timescale pump rate fluctuations are the primary factor determining the timing jitter of the first intensity spike, but that short-timescale loss rate fluctuations are necessary to match the sloping of the peaks of corresponding intensity spikes in an ensemble.  相似文献

The effect of fluctuations in the pulse duration of synchronously pumped modelocked pulse trains on excite and probe measurements is discussed. Relaxation times comparable with the pulse durations can be measured even when large pulse-to-pulse fluctuations in duration exist. The pump and probe pulse durations are assumed to be correlated. When the probe pulses are the second harmonic of the pump, or vice versa, the third harmonic must also be generated to permit deconvolution of experimental excite and probe data. When the pump and probe pulses have the same time dependence, the excite and probe curves consist of the desired response function convolved with the time-averaged second harmonic autocorrelation function which is easily measured. Deconvolution yields the relaxation time but fluctuations in pulse duration increase the root-mean-square voltage fluctuation at the output of the detector system and limit the accuracy with which the relaxation time can be calculated.  相似文献
