An efficient organic dye laser with a linewidth of less than 2 Å has been developed as a source of tunable high power radiation in the wavelength range 7500–9200 Å. Utilizing a 2 MW ruby laser pump, infrared output powers in excess of 200 kW have been attained for the range 7650–8900 Å with peak power levels above 400 kW. The tunning range for a single dye varies from 550 to 1030 Å.  相似文献

A novel excitation scheme for a N2 laser pumped distributed feedback dye laser is described. The dye laser generates 80–100 ps pulses with a time-bandwidth product better than 0.6. Several tuning methods are proposed, and a number are investigated experimentally. Continuous tuning over a 50 Å range without mode-hopping is demonstrated.  相似文献

Generation of tunable near-infrared picosecond and subpicosecond pulses in a synchronously pumped cw mode-locked Oxazine-1-perchlorate dye laser has been investigated for different values of the important system parameters. The experimental results confirm the predictions of a simple theoretical model which describes the steady-state pulse duration in terms of gain modulation strength, pump power, intracavity bandwidth, pump pulse length and cavity detuning. For a pump-pulse length of 100 ps and a bandwidth of more than 500 Å for the intracavity tuning element dye-laser pulses as short as 0.35 ps have been obtained. Under these conditions up to 100 mW of average output power were provided. In addition, mode-locking of an Oxazine 750 dye laser by synchronous pumping with the cw train of pulses obtained from the Oxazine-1-Perchlorate laser is reported.  相似文献

The dye DDI (1,1'-diethyl 2,2'-dicarbocyanin iodid) dissolved in DMSO (dimethyl sulphoxid) was used in giant pulse ruby laser pumped DFB laser configuration. Wide generation band, narrow (0.1 cm-1) bandwidth, high power as 1.33 MW at the peak of the tuning curve and power conversion factor as high as 30% was found.  相似文献

A continuously operating jet stream dye laser was pumped by a multiwavelength-multimode argon-ion-laser with a pump power up to 200 W. Rhodamine 6G-chloride was dissolved in a water-polyvinylalcohol-ammonyx solution. The dye laser was prism-tunable between 560 and 650 nm with maximum output power at 600 nm. The maximum output power of the cw dye laser was 43 W without tuning element and 33 W with a prism placed inside the cavity. Operation of a jet stream dye laser with a pump power higher than 200 W and an efficiency of about 30% seems to be possible.  相似文献

We have observed four-wave mixing processes in sodium vapor in which the fourth wave is resonantly enhanced by the 4s?3s forbidden transition. Intense, tunable, coherent ultraviolet radiation has been observed near 383 and 388 nm with a tuning range of 50 and 20 Å, respectively. The sodium atoms are pumped by a single laser beam with wavelength in the 597 nm region. The third infrared wave involved in the mixing processes comes from either an OPSE or an output from another 4-WM process which is generated in the same sodium medium by the excitation of the same pump wave. The conversion efficiency is estimated to be 8 × 10?4.  相似文献

The generation of continuously tunable UV radiation in the wavelength range 2300–3000 Å by frequency doubling the output of a nitrogen pumped dye laser is described. A lithium formate monohydride crystal 10 mm long yields a conversion efficiency of typically 2% at fundamental powers in excess of 50 kW and allows the generation of harmonic radiation at wavelengths 150 Å below those attainable using a refrigerated ammonium dihydrogen phosphate crystal.  相似文献

A tunable wavelength, laser beam of very high spectral luminance in the near infrared is obtained by amplification of a monochromatic laser line emitted by a tunable dye oscillator. Optical pumping of the oscillator and the four-stage amplifier is effected by a giant pulse ruby laser. The energy obtained with a solution of 3,3′ dimethyl 2,2′ oxatricarbocyanine iodide (D.O.T.C.) in dimethyl sulfoxyde is 1 J at 7699 Å. The laser pulse of spectral width Δλ = 0.065 Å is emitted at a rate of 0.1 Hz. The half-peak pulse duration is 15 ns.  相似文献

Tunable solid-state dye laser sample based on modified polymethyl methacrylate (MPMMA) with methanol co-doped with pyrromethene 567 (PM567) and Coumarin 440 (C440) was prepared. Tunable dye laser output wavelength from 546 to 594 nm was obtained in an oscillator-amplifier configuration. With the input seed laser energy being about 1.5 mJ, the highest dye laser output energy reached 113.9 mJ, and the corresponding conversion slope efficiency was 51.39%. To the best of our knowledge, the tuning range and narrow linewidth dye output energy is the best under the same condition so far. The linewidth for the seed laser and amplified laser were measured with the result of less than 0.2 nm. With the amplified medium being pumped at a repetition rate of 10 Hz with a pulse energy as high as 120 mJ (the fluence was 0.42 J/cm2), the laser output energy dropped to half of its initial value after approximate 43000 pulses.  相似文献

A tunable, high repitition rate oscillator—amplifier dye laser system is reported. The dye laser described was longitudinally pumped with the second harmonic of a Nd—Yag laser operating at 10 Hz. Using three Fabry-Perot etalons and pressure tuning, a maximum fundamental output power of ?6 MW with a corresponding spectral width of less than 0.003 nm at 564 nm was obtained. The fundamental at 564 nm was frequency doubled to give a maximum power level of 0.6 MW of second harmonic output power with a spectral width of less than 0.0015 nm at 282 nm. Frequency stability could be maintained to within ?15% of the line-width.  相似文献

A high-power double-clad Tm-doped silica fiber laser, pumped by two beam-shaped and polarization-coupled diode bars at 787 nm, was wavelength tuned by use of an external cavity containing a diffraction grating. The Tm fiber laser produced a maximum output power of 7 W at 1940 nm for 40 W of incident diode power and was tuned over a wavelength range of 230 nm from 1860 to 2090 nm, with >5-W output power over the range 1870-2040 nm. The prospects for further improvement in performance and extension of the tuning range are discussed.  相似文献

Emission at fifty discrete wavelengths is observed when Ba I is excited by two laser beams, a dye laser tuned to the λ 7911 Å intercombination line, 6s21S0-6s6p 3P1 and a ruby laser. The wavelengths range from 2312 Å to 8027 Å. Most of the emission lines can be attributed to four-wave mixing processes in barium.  相似文献

We report a high-power, long-wavelength infrared ZnGeP2 (ZGP) optical parametric oscillator (OPO) pumped by a Q-switched Tm,Ho:GdVO4 laser. The wavelength tuning range of 7.8–9.9 μm is realized by rotating the external angle of the ZGP crystal. We obtain an output power over 30 mW across the whole wavelength range and achieve a 1.71 W output power at 8.08 μm by transmitting the OPO parameters, corresponding to an idler laser slope efficiency of 12.1%.  相似文献

The frequency tunablity characteristics of a simple prism configuration distributed feedback dye laser (DFDL) pumped by a low pressure nitrogen gas laser are described. Tunability is studied as a function of the refractive index of the dye solution and also as a function of the angle of the interfering beams of the pump laser. The tunability range for the dye studied is from 440 to 480 nm with a spectral width of 0·1 Å and the time duration of the DFDL pulses was 50 ps.  相似文献

A simple method for generating single tunable subnanosecond dye laser pulses is described. A Rhodamin 6G dye laser is transversely pumped by a subnanosecond UV pulse of a TEA nitrogen laser. The narrowband output of the dye laser is amplified and shortened in a synchronously pumped amplifier. Narrowband pulses with a duration of 30–40 ps (fwhm) and a pulse power of 30 kW are obtained.
