In this work we report theoretical and numerical results on convection in a viscoelastic binary mixture under rotation. In
particular, we focus in the Maxwelian case of viscoelastic fluid. We obtain explicit expressions for the convective thresholds
in terms of the mixture parameters of the system in the case of idealized boundary conditions.

Based on Jacobson's molecular free length theory in liquids and the relationship between ultrasonic velocity and the molecular free length in organic liquids, this paper deduces the equations for pressure coefficient and temperature coefficient of ultrasonic velocity and nonlinear acoustic parameter B/A in both of organic liquid and organic liquid binary mixtures. These nonlinear acoustic parameters are evaluated against the measured results and data from other sources. The equations reveal the connections between the nonlinear acoustic parameters and some internal structural of the medium or mixtures e.g. the sizes of molecule, several thermodynamic physical parameters and outside status e.g. condition of pressure and temperature of the liquid or liquid mixture. With the equations the nonlinear acoustic parameter B/A of organic liquid binary mixtures, which is impossible to know without the nonlinear acoustic parameter B/A of the tow components before, can be calculated based on the structural and physical parameters of organic liquid and organic liquid binary mixtures. 相似文献

In a liquid suspension, thermophoresis is the motion of a suspended particle under a temperature gradient. In a liquid binary mixture, thermodiffusion is the generation of a composition gradient upon application of a temperature gradient. A quantitative connection is established between the two phenomena without making assumptions about their mechanisms. It is shown that Galilean invariance and the choice of a Galilean reference frame play a key role in that connection. The results are not restricted to very dilute suspensions or mixtures. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThis study describes the properties of a binary liquid crystalline mixture composed of commercially available materials, Ce-3 (4-(n-hexyloxy phenyl)-1-(2-fuethyl butyl) biphenyl-4-carboxylate) and Ce-8 (4-(2-methylbutyl) phenyl-4-n-octylbiphenyl-4-carboxylate), in a weight ratio of 50:50. Both compounds show polymesomorphism and ferroelectric properties within a relatively wide temperature range. Taken separately, each compound has its advantages and disadvantages from the technical point of view. The influence of temperature on the electro-optical and viscoelastic properties of the produced binary mixture is investigated in this paper. 相似文献

In this paper a formula for determining the characteristic impedance of the nonradiative dielectric waveguide (NRD-guide) is presented. The numerical results are obtained, which are very useful for designing NRD waveguide components, such as impedance transformers, filters, branch-line hybrids, and active circuits. As a practical example for applying the formula, a 3 dB brainched NRD-guide directional coupler was designed and fabricated. The experiments show good consistency with the theory. 相似文献

In terms of representation [1] of a decomposing binary liquid mixture as a system of two coupled self-oscillators with partial frequencies ν A and ν B , the following conjecture is verified: given frequency ratios ν A /ν B and ν A /ν C for decomposing liquid mixtures A-B and A-C at the same temperature, it is possible to determine the ν B /ν C ratio, which is independent of the choice of the A component. 相似文献

The results are presented of Gibbs ensemble Monte Carlo (GEMC) simulations examining the nematic–isotropic (N–I) coexistence envelope of a liquid crystal mixture. The system studied is a 50:50 mixture of 1000 generalized Gay–Berne particles with axial ratios 2.0:1 and 2.5:1. For this system, stable N–I coexistence is observed over run lengths in excess of 5 x 105 GEMC sweeps. There is unambiguous evidence of fractionation, the mole fractions of long particles in the coexisting phases typically differing by 11%. The measured coexistence envelope does not conform to the lens shape predicted by Onsager theory; qualitative finite size arguments are given in explanation of this distortion. 相似文献

Effect of magnetic nanoparticles (nickel ferrite) doping on the dielectric and electro-optical properties of a ferroelectric liquid crystal mixture has been studied. In a doped ferroelectric liquid crystal mixture, dispersion of a small amount (0.25 wt.%) of nickel ferrite nanoparticles decreases the polarization and improves the response time compared to an undoped mixture. The significant changes in the polarization and response time are explained on the basis of dipole–dipole interaction and anchoring phenomena. Dielectric permittivity also increases with increasing the temperature of the SmC* phase and shows a reduction in dielectric loss in a doped sample. A Goldstone mode is clearly observed at ~200 and ~500 Hz in an undoped and a doped sample, respectively. 相似文献
