Model-independent QED radiative corrections to polarization observables in the elastic scattering of unpolarized and longitudinally polarized electron beam by a deuteron target are calculated. Two experimental setups are considered: the deuteron target is arbitrarily polarized, or the vector and/or tensor polarization of the recoil deuteron is measured. The calculations are based on taking all essential Feynman diagrams into account and using the covariant parametrization of the deuteron polarization state. The radiative corrections are calculated for the hadronic variables using invariant integration of the leptonic tensor. Numerical estimates of the radiative corrections to the polarization observables are made for various values of the kinematical vari-ables.  相似文献

The leading-log model-independent radiative corrections to deep-inelastic scattering of an unpolarized electron beam from the tensor-polarized deuteron target have been considered. The calculation is based on the covariant parameterization of the deuteron quadrupole polarization tensor and the use of the Drell-Yan-like representation in electrodynamics to describe the radiation of real and virtual particles by the initial and scattered electron.  相似文献

A multiple scattering formalism for the medium energy hadron-deuteron elastic scattering is developed. This approach provides an extension of the Glauber theory incorporating the complete spin structure and the corrections to the eikonal and fixed scatterer approximations. The systematics of the spin observables and their relation to the hadron-deuteron as well as to hadron-nucleon amplitudes are discussed. An approximate cancellation between few corrections to the double scattering term is found which leaves the non-eikonal correction as the dominant one, and often, very important numerically, e.g., in the deuteron tensor polarization. Comparison of the parameter-free predictions of the theory based on the recent NN phase shift amplitudes with the data on polarization observables in pd elastic scattering is made.  相似文献

The model-independent leading radiative corrections to polarization observables in semi-inclusive longitudinally polarized electron-nucleus scattering with the registration of a produced hadron and scattered electron in coincidence were calculated using the Drell-Yan representation in electrodynamics. The cases of a tensor-polarized target or a produced hadron with tensor polarization were considered. The vector and tensor polarization of the deuteron after scattering and the dependence of the cross section on the polarization before scattering are given for elastic electron deuteron scattering treating the deuteron as a spin 1 elementary particle characterized by three electromagnetic formfactors and describing the interaction by the first Born approximation. By using polarization measurements a separation of the charge and quadrupole formfactors may be accomplished, and thus the assumptions may be tested, which are necessary for the extraction of the isoscalar nucleon formfactors from the deuteron formfactors.  相似文献

Several problems concerning the deuteron and having simple analytic solutions are considered. The relation between the electric quadrupole moment of the deuteron and the np scattering amplitude is established. The degree of the circular polarization of the photon emitted in the radiative capture of longitudinally polarized thermal neutrons is found. The anapole, electric dipole, and magnetic quadrupole moments of the deuteron are calculated.  相似文献

A rigorous extraction of the deuteron charge form factors from tensor polarization data in elastic electron-deuteron scattering, at given values of the 4-momentum transfer, is presented. Then the world data for elastic electron-deuteron scattering is used to parameterize, in three different ways, the three electromagnetic form factors of the deuteron in the 4-momentum transfer range 0-7 fm−1. This procedure is made possible with the advent of recent polarization measurements. The parameterizations allow a phenomenological characterization of the deuteron electromagnetic structure. Cross sections of the elastic scattering of electrons from the deuterons are calculated with the concept of primitive interaction, disregarding the form factors of the deuteron. By using a polarized deuteron target we have measured the asymmetry in the differential cross section for elastic scattering of protons on deuterons and for quasi-elastic scattering of protons on protons bound in deuterons between the two states of opposite polarization, normal to the scattering plane of the initial deuteron. The beam momentum was 1.21 GeV/c. It is checked that the neutrons bound in the deuterons are polarized to approximately 20%.  相似文献

The known first order radiative corrections to Bhabha scattering and mupair production are extended to include the hadronic vacuum polarization. For the evaluation, the measured total cross-section for e+e? → hadrons together with some assumptions on its high-energy behaviour is used. The results show that the inclusion of the hadronic vacuum polarization in the radiative corrections is required for precision tests of quantumelectrodynamics at high energies.  相似文献

QED radiative corrections have been calculated for leptonic and hadronic variables in parity-violating elastic ep scattering. For the first time, the calculation of the asymmetry in the elastic radiative tail is performed without the peaking-approximation assumption in hadronic variables configuration. This method has been validated in a comparison with the PVA4 data. It has been also used to evaluate the radiative corrections to the parity-violating asymmetry measured in the G0 experiment. We discuss the role of the so-called Darwin-Foldy term in the evaluation of the proton and deuteron charge radii from atomic hydrogen spectroscopy and nuclear scattering data. The question of whether this term should be included or excluded from the nuclear radius has been controversially discussed in the literature. We attempt to clarify which literature values correspond to which conventions. A detailed discussion of the conventions appears useful because a recent experiment [R. Pohl et al., Nature 466, 213 (2010)] has indicated that there is a discrepancy between the proton charge radii inferred from ordinary (“electronic”) atomic hydrogen and muonic hydrogen. We also investigate the role of quantum electrodynamic radiative corrections in the determination of nuclear radii from scattering data, and propose a definition of the nuclear self energy which is compatible with the subtraction of the radiative corrections in scattering experiments.  相似文献

A complete calculation of electroweak radiative corrections to observables of polarized Møller scattering at high energies was performed. This calculation took explicitly into account contributions caused by hard bremsstrahlung. A FORTRAN code that permitted including radiative corrections to high-energy Møller scattering under arbitrary electron-detection conditions was written. It was shown that the electroweak corrections caused by hard bremsstrahlung were rather strongly dependent on the choice of experimental cuts and changed substantially the polarization asymmetry in the region of high energies and over a broad interval of scattering angles.  相似文献

The study of polarization effects in reactions with a simplest nucleus, deuteron, plays an important role for the investigation of deuteron structure as well as for the research of the properties of the strong interaction. However, data on the tensor observables in the electro- and photoreactions with deuteron appeared not so long ago. We present here a brief overview of the experiments on three such reactions with a deuteron: elastic scattering, photodisintegration and coherent photoproduction of the neutral pion.  相似文献

We study the effect of weak neutral currents in elastic electron deuteron scattering on both unpolarized and polarized deuteron targets. Theoretical expressions have been derived for the polarized electron asymmetry, polarized target asymmetry and recoil deuteron vector polarization within the framework of impulse approximation. We show that these polarization parameters can give vital information on the space-time and isospin structure of the hadronic weak neutral current. In particular, our numerical estimates show that a measurement of polarized target asymmetry is sensitive to the isoscalar axial vector piece in the hadronic neutral current which, though zero in the Weinberg-Salam model, is not completely ruled out by the data.  相似文献
