The dominating decay channels of fragmenting carbon nuclei in high-energy proton-carbon collisions were studied by means of a Monte Carlo simulation. We study the influence of the Coulomb interaction on the energy spectra and two-fragment (energy and angular) correlations between the various fragments in the context of a statistical model. We show that the Coulomb interaction between the fragments strongly affects their energy and angular correlation functions. Qualitative predictions for the exclusive analysis of the various final states are given. Comparison with experiments of this type should soon be possible.  相似文献

We study the contribution of massive dominantly sterile neutrinos, N, to the lepton number and lepton flavor violating semileptonic decays of τ and B, D, K-mesons. We focus on special domains of sterile neutrino masses mN where it is close to its mass-shell. This leads to an enormous resonant enhancement of the decay rates of these processes. This allows us to derive stringent limits on the sterile neutrino mass mN and its mixing UαN with active flavors. We apply a joint analysis of the existing experimental bounds on the decay rates of the studied processes. In contrast to other approaches in the literature our limits are free from ad hoc assumptions on the relative size of the sterile neutrino mixing parameters. We analyze the impact of this sort of assumptions on the extraction of the limits on mN and UαN, and discuss the effect of finite detector size. Special attention was paid to the limits on meson decays with e±e± in final state, derived from non-observation of 0νββ-decay. We point out that observation of these decays may, in particular, shed light on the Majorana phases of the neutrino mixing matrix.  相似文献

Using Langer's statistical theory of the decay of metastable states we calculate the rate of the anomalous electroweak baryon and lepton number violating processes in the case that the electroweak phase transition is of second order. Our formulas are valid in a temperature range between Mw and the critical temperature Tc. We get a dissipation of the baryon and lepton number of the order of exp(4.6×109).  相似文献

General unified electroweak gauge theories with neutral lepton mixing are reexamined with regard to processes that change lepton family numbers Lf. The most general allowed mass sectors of models based on SU(2) × U(1) and SU(2)L × SU(2)R × U(1) are studied and the consequences for Lf changing processes such as μ → eγ, νf′νf + γ are worked out. We discuss models that break individual lepton family numbers but still conserve total lepton number L, as well as models in which L is broken too.  相似文献

A search for lepton flavour number violating Z0 decays in the channels Z 0 → μτ, Z 0 → eτ, Z 0 → eμ, using the DELPHI detector with data collected during the 1991–94 LEP runs, is described. No signal was found. Upper limits at 95% confidence level for the respective branching fractions of 1.2 × 10?5, 2.2 × 10?5, and 0.25 × 10?5, were obtained.  相似文献

Polymers at interfaces pose challenging problems to statistical physics because their configurations often differ greatly from the bulk. Computer simulation of coarse-grained models then gives valuable insight and allows stringent tests of various theoretical predictions. Formulae are presented by which a numerically stable computer program for two-photon processes above s = 100 GeV can be constructed. For this purpose a new method for evaluating matrix elements is introduced. It is then shown that two-photon processes should be no background to Drell-Yan signals in pp collisions. A comparison is made between two-photon physics at e+e?, ep and pp collisions.  相似文献

We present atomic-scale computer simulations in equiatomic L10-CoPt where Molecular Dynamics and Monte Carlo techniques have both been applied to study the vacancy-atom exchange and kinetics relaxation. The atomic potential is determined using a Tight-Binding formalism within the Second-Moment Approximation. It is used to evaluate the different saddle-point energies involved in a vacancy-atom exchange between nearest-neighbour sites. The potential and the saddle-point energies have been used to simulate the relaxation of the long-range order in CoPt using a Monte Carlo technique. A vacancy migration energy of 0.73±0.15 eV and an order-disorder transition temperature of 935 K have been found.  相似文献

We show that correlations betweenx- andy-components of the secondary particle momenta together with an amount of stochasticity and coherency account for the transverse energy (momentum) spectra observed recently in high energy collisions of leptons and hadrons. Relations obtained within the framework of quantum statistics involving the coherent state expansions are applied to e+e (at s 14 GeV), pp (26 GeV), ¯pp (900 GeV) and p + Au (200 GeV proton beam) collisions. The comparison of theoretical relations with data leads to sufficiently accurate conclusions. However, more experimental results of the same collision are needed as far as the values of the parameters involved should be determined uniquely.One of the authors (M. By showing that the radially reduced QCD of s-wave fermions outside the core of a GUT monopole can be treated in a way analogous to 't Hofft's QCD2 in the large Nclimit, we are able to give a complete QFT treatment of all the relevant long-range gauge fields outside the monopole core. We prove that the original cluster argument for the existence of baryon number violating fermion “condensates” around the core, gives in fact, the correct result, despite the neglect of QCD strong interactions, which prevent the propagation of isolated quarks. We discuss briefly how a complete computational framework for a monopole induced hadron-lepton transition might be derived.  相似文献

In this review we consider the high energy processes in QED frames in peripherical kinematics. The key feature of this kinematics is that processes have a large cross section which do not decrease with the increasing of the initial center of mass energy. Two purposes to study peripheral processes are: the background processes with large total cross sections and the structure of jets in the fragmentation region.We describe the various QED peripherical processes in terms of Impact Factors and give the explicit expressions for the differential distributions and spin correlation effects, as well as estimates of the total cross section of peripheral processes in photon-photon, photon-lepton and lepton-lepton collisions.A special attention is paid to the small-angle Bhabha scattering process which is relevant for beam monitoring at LEP I, LEP II.Based on analytical properties of the amplitudes some relations (QED sum rules) between the high energy asymptotic of the cross sections of inelastic processes in e + e ? collisions and higher order perturbative contributions to the electron Dirac and Pauli form-factors are derived.For practical using we present some loop momentum integrals.  相似文献
