The relationship between the \(\overline {MS} \) and on-shell renormalization schemes is discussed and the correction, for finite top quark mass, to the formula connecting sin2 θ W =1?M W 2 /M Z 2 and sin2 \(\widehat\theta _W (M_W )\) is given. A table is presented to allow easy conversion. The relative sensitivity, to the top quark and Higgs masses, of the two definitions, when extracted from semi-leptonic neutrino scattering experiments is considered.  相似文献

It may appear that the recently found resonance at 125 GeV is not the only Higgs boson. We point out the possibility that the Higgs bosons appear in models of top-quark condensation, where the masses of the bosonic excitations are related to the top quark mass by the sum rule similar to the Nambu sum rule of the NJL models [1]. This rule was originally considered by Nambu for superfluid 3He-B and for the BCS model of superconductivity. It relates the two masses of bosonic excitations existing in each channel of Cooper pairing to the fermion mass. An example of the Nambu partners is provided by the amplitude and the phase modes in the BCS model describing Cooper pairing in the s-wave channel. This sum rule suggests the existence of the Nambu partners for the 125 GeV Higgs boson. Their masses can be predicted by the Nambu sum rule under certain circumstances. For example, if there are only two states in the given channel, the mass of the Nambu partner is ~ 325 GeV. They together satisfy the Nambu sum rule M 1 2 + M 2 2 = 4M t 2 , where M t ~ 174 GeV is the mass of the top quark. If there are two doubly degenerated states, then the second mass is ~210 GeV. In this case the Nambu sum rule is 2M 1 2 + 2M 2 2 = 4M t 2 . In addition, the properties of the Higgs modes in superfluid 3He-A, where the symmetry breaking is similar to that of the Standard Model of particle physics, suggest the existence of two electrically charged Higgs particles with masses around 245 GeV, which together also obey the Nambu sum rule M + 2 + M ? 2 = 4M t 2 .  相似文献

The left-right asymmetric model featuring the bidoublet and two triplets of Higgs fields is investigated. It was established that, from an analysis of the reaction l ?γ → W ?νl, it is possible to deduce not only information about the properties of the singly charged Higgs bosons $\tilde \delta ^{( - )} $ and h (?) but also an answer to the question of whether the neutrino is a Majorana or a Dirac particle. The processes $f_i \bar f_j \to \Delta _1^{( - - )} \tilde \delta ^{( + )} $ and e?μ? → Δ 1,2 (—) γ leading to the production of doubly charged Higgs bosons are investigated. It is shown that information about the properties of singly charged Higgs bosons can also be obtained by studying the ultrahighenergy cosmic neutrinos from the reaction e ?ν e →μ?νμ.  相似文献

The electroweak radiative corrections to the decay widths of theW-boson, Γ \((W \to l\bar v,\bar ud,\bar cs)\) , have been calculated in the standard theory. The results are presented in terms of an electroweak form factorρ W and their dependence onm t , andM H (masses oft-quark and higgs boson) is studied. Typically,ρ W ?1 is of an order of one percent. The differenceρ lv W ?ρ qq W is negligible, 0.046%. The calculational scheme used is described in detail.  相似文献

We point out properties of the “perpendicularev mass”, defined in terms of transverse momentap t byM T 2 (ev)=2|p eT | |p vT |?2p eT ·p vT , that make it particularly well suited toW mass and width determinations. We give an analytic expression for its distribution inW production and subsequentWev decay a \(\bar pp\) colliders, accurate to order 〈p WT 2 /M W 2 〉≈1%. A maximum likelihood fit of this formula to the five UA1 events givesM W=80.3 ?3 +6 GeV.  相似文献

We extend methods of high temperature expansions to show that for even weakly coupledP(?)2 quantum field models the Bethe-Salpeter kernel has 4 particle decay. More precisely ifK denotes the Euclidean Bethe-Salpeter kernel $$|K(x_1 ,x_2 ,x_3 ,x_4 )| \leqq Oe^{ - m_0 (1 - \varepsilon )d_2 } ,$$ wherex=(x 0,x 1),d 2=2|x 1 0 +x 2 0 ?x 3 0 ?x 4 0 |+|x 1 0 ?x 2 0 |+|x 3 0 ?x 4 0 | and ε(λ)→0 as λ→0. The Cabibbo angle is introduced as a mixing angle of the gauge bosonsW ± andX ± in anO(4)?U(1) gauge model. Masses of gauge bosons are calculated to beM W=82 (input), \(M_z = \sqrt 2 M_W s\gamma = 130\) (γ is mixing angle, sin2 γ=0.21),M x=666, andM Y=660, in units GeV. TheW μ ± andZ μ 0 couple to the familiar charged and neutral currents, respectively. The effective neutrino oscillation angle is found to be the Cabibbo angle.  相似文献

We present a new global fit to precision electroweak data, including new low- and high-energy data and analyzing the radiative corrections arising from the minimal symmetry breaking sectors of the Standard Model (SM) and its supersymmetric extension (MSSM). It is shown that present data favor a Higgs mass ofO(M z):M H=76 ?50 +152 GeV. We confront our analysis with (meta) stability and perturbative bounds on the SM Higgs mass, and the theoretical upper bound on the MSSM Higgs mass. Present data do not discriminate significantly between the SM and MSSM Higgs mass ranges. We comment in passing on the sensitivity of the Higgs mass determination to the values ofα(M z) andα s(M z).  相似文献

InclusiveK s 0 , Λ and \(\bar \Lambda\) -production has been investigated in \(\bar p\) p-interactions at 22.4 GeV/c. Total and topological cross sections and multiplicity characteristics of neutral strange particles have been determined. DifferentialK s 0 and Λ-cross sections and also characteristics of annihilation processes with neutral kaon production have been studied. It is shown that the difference of the shapes of the invariantx-distributions forK-mesons in the fragmentation region for annihilation and non-annihilation processes can be described in the framework of the “dual” valon model, but not by considering the current (undressed) quark recombination mechanisms only. The polarization of Λ and \(\bar \Lambda\) -hyperons has been measured.  相似文献

Inclusive Λ production in \(\bar p\) p interactions at 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 GeV/c is studied. The inclusive cross sections for Λ and Λ \(\bar \Lambda \) production are measured. The differential cross sections as functions ofx, y, andP T 2 are given for each beam momentum. It is found that the contribution of indirect production of Λ from resonance decay is considerably enhanced in the region of higher missing mass against Λ. The negative polarization is observed for Λ with largerP T and lower missing mass, and is found to be mainly from two body reactions. Inclusive cross sections for ±(1385) production and the fraction of indirect Λ from ±(1385) decay are measured. The ratio between the cross sections for +(1385) and ?(1385) productions is found to be almost constant for wide range of beam momenta.  相似文献

In composite models of quarks, leptons and weak bosons whereW-constituents are colored objects, color octet partners ofW ± andZ 0 are predicted. We study in detail the phenomenology of these particles. Independent of the specific model one expects a color octet isotriplet of vector bosons (W 8 ± ,Z 8 0 ) with mass in the range of 100–200 GeV, and a color octet isosinglet vector bosonV 8 0 with substantially larger mass, due to mixing with the gluon. Moreover, relatively light color octet excitations of the leptons appear, while the existence of “color exotic” partners of the quarks is model dependent. These particles decay mainly into a lepton (quark) and a gluon. We construct the couplings ofW 8 ± ,Z 8 0 andV 8 0 to ordinary and “color exotic” fermions. The signals of color octet weak bosons in low energy weak reactions are explored in detail. The production cross section ofW 8 ± (Z 8 0 ) in hadron-hadron collisions is calculated for \(0.54TeV \leqq \sqrt s \leqq 20TeV\) . Various decay modes of colored weak bosons are studied. The most prominent decay signatures ofW 8 ± andZ 8 0 are events of the type (l +-: charged lepton;j: hadronic jet; : missing transverse momentum). The present CERN \(p\bar p\) collider data on such events are discussed in the light ofW 8 ± andZ 8 0 decays. If colored weak bosons are not found with a mass less than ~250 GeV composite model building will be strongly restricted.  相似文献

A method of simultaneous parametrization of one- and two-body interactions on atomic hyperfine structure of configurationl N is proposed and applied for the analysis of the configuration (6p)3 in the bismuth atom. For this purpose, the hyperfine structure splittings of the levels2D 3 2/0 ,2D 5 2/0 and2P 1 2/0 were measured. The finally obtained values of HFS parameters are: for one-body parameters (in MHz):a p 01 =2,537(9),a p 12 =5,182 (12),a10=?2,019(10),b p 02 =?3,198(53),b p 11 =2,816(54); for two-body parameters (in MHz):x pp ′/01 ,2=284(3),x pp ′/12 ,2=581(5),x pf ′/12 ,2=170(70),x pp ′/02 ,2=?359(36),x pf ′/02 ,2=?33(100). The value of the quadrupole moment of the nucleus 83 209 Bi is also discussed.  相似文献

Measurements ofK s 0 , Λ and \(\bar \Lambda \) production in π? nucleus (C, Cu, Pb) interactions are presented. The experiment was carried out with the streamer chamber spectrometer RISK using a π? beam of ~40 GeV/c and a trigger requiring a secondary charged particle with transverse momentum above 1.1 GeV/c. Production cross sections, relative production rates and distributions of Feynmanx and transverse momentum squared as well as correlations between theV 0 and the trigger particle are presented. The results are compared and found to be in agreement withK s 0 , Λ and \(\bar \Lambda \) data from untriggered π? p and π? C interactions, except for the relative production rate of antilambdas which is about to times larger in high-p t collisions. Our results can be well interpreted within the dual topological unitarization model.  相似文献

We have studied the deactivation of the triplet sublevels s = z, y, and x of the lowest triplet state T 1 s of the dibenzofuran molecule, which is determined by radiative (dipole) and nonradiative (degradation) transitions with the rate constants K rad s and K dg s . The main attention is paid to the nonradiative transitions T 1 s ? S 0 from the in-plane spin states (s = z, y), which are determined by the intramolecular interaction along the coordinates of out-of-plane vibrational modes. The roles played by the many-electron atom (oxygen) and high-frequency out-of-plane vibrational modes in the intramolecular interaction have been evaluated theoretically. Estimates of K dg s based on three known approaches (three models) that describe the nonradiative transition in the approximation of adiabatic and nonadiabatic interactions are presented.  相似文献

Production properties and correlations forK s 0 K s 0 ,K s 0 Λ,K s 0 ¯Λ and Λ¯Λ systems in 360 GeV/cpp interactions are presented. All rapidity gap distributions are observed to peak at Δy=0 and the azimuthal angular distributions between the two particles are consistent with being flat. Experimental results are compared with the quark fusion and Lund models of particle production.  相似文献

Magnetocaloric effect and order of transition in (La1?x Nd x )2/3(Ca1?y Sr y )1/3MnO3, prepared by conventional solid-state reaction, have been investigated. Using Banerjee criterion, we demonstrate first-order transition for (J1) and (J2 ) as well as second-order transition for (J3 ), (J4 ), and (J5 ) samples. The ΔS M max is ranging between 9.18 Jkg?1 K?1 and 4.87 when Nd and Sr content changes leading to relative cooling power (RCP) varying between 330 and 229.35 J/kg. Both ΔS M max and the RCP are found sensitive to the disorder σ 2. The universal behavior obtained from ΔS variation curves confirmed the first-order transition for (J1) and (J2 ) samples and second-order transition for (J3), (J4), and (J5 ) samples obtained by Banerjee criterion. All samples with second-order phase transition exhibit inhomogeneous character estimated from local exponent n.  相似文献

A unified gauge model is built with Higgs in 210⊙126⊙10 representations and intermediate symmetry $$SU(3)_c \otimes SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R \otimes U(1)_{B - L} .$$ . The vacuum of the210 is in a two-dimensional stratum. From the values sin2θ W (M W ) and \(\frac{\alpha }{{\alpha _s }}(M_W )\) one determines the high scales, with the result to predict leptoquarks heavier than 1015 GeV and Majorana masses for the right-handed neutrinos around 1011 GeV.  相似文献

We present results on inclusive baryon and meson resonance production in \(\bar pp\) interactions at 7.3 GeV/c. Total inclusive and semi-inclusive cross sections are given for Δ(1232), *(1385), ?0,f andK (892) production. For the meson resonances separation into annihilation and non-annihilation components has been made, the annihilation component being dominant at this energy. We find that the energy dependence of inclusive cross sections for ?0 production inpp interactions and \(\bar pp\) non-annihilations shows a type of scaling behaviour previously reported for ?, ψ, ψ′ and ? production inpp interactions.Δ ++, ?0 andK production are studied in terms of Feynmanx,y * andp T 2 . For the vector mesons we compare they * andx dependences with the predictions of simple quark models.  相似文献

Preliminary results on the spin transfer to the Λ and $\bar \Lambda$ hyperons measured by the HERMES Collaboration are presented. Longitudinal spin transfer directed along the virtual-photon momentum in the Λ rest frame is found to be D LL Λ = 0.19 ± 0.04stat ± 0.02syst, the transverse component being compatible with zero. For $\bar \Lambda$ both longitudinal and transverse components are compatible with zero within statistical errors of ±0.1.  相似文献
