We present data on the production of the baryons Λ, \(\bar \Lambda \) ,p and of the baryon resonances Σ*+ (1385) and Δ++ (1232) inK + p and π+ p interactions at 250 GeV/c. Results are given on total and semi-inclusive cross sections, Feynman-x spectra, transverse momentum distributions and Λ polarization. The data are compared with measurements at lower energies, with deep inclastic lepton nucleon data and with predictions of quark-parton models. The models underestimate Λ production in the central c.m. region, a feature also seen in recent heavy-ion data. This failure can be cured in JETSET 6.3 by adjustment of the di-quark break-up probability. 相似文献

The angular dependence of Bose-Einstein correlations is studied in interactions of + andK
+ mesons with protons and nuclei at 250 GeV/c. The pion source is found to be elongated along the interaction axis in the c.m.s., with the ratioa between transverse and longitudinal dimension equal to 0.55±0.06 for the case of proton, 0.53±0.13 for the case ofAl and 0.33±0.21 for the case ofAu target. For meson-proton interactions, indication for an increase of the elongation is found with increasing event multiplicity, pair momentum and particle transverse momentum.Now at UIA, Wilrijk, Belgium 相似文献

Multiplicity, inclusive, correlation and collective characteristics of multiparticle production processes inK
+ Al,K
+ Au, + Al and + Au interactions at 250 GeV/c are studied with the European Hybrid Spectrometer, providing high statistics and almost 4 acceptance for final state charged particles. It is shown that the proton energy spectrum practically does not depend on the target atomic weight, but the proton angular distributions reveal a strongA-dependence. In a model independent way, the average number of intranuclear collisions is extracted, and it is shown that their dominant part (60% for Al and 80% for Au) is caused by interactions of the non-leading particles produced in the target fragmentation. The multiplication ratio of the produced particles for the Au nucleus changes fromR40 at the smallest rapidities in the target fragmentation region, down toR=0.37±0.06 at the largest rapidities in the beam fragmentation region. It is found that the average total longitudinal momentum of the charged products of the beam fragmentation depends weakly on the number of leading hadron (cluster) intranuclear collisions which are characterized by a low inelasticity coefficient k=0.17±0.03.Partially supported by grants from CPBP 01.06 and 01.09 相似文献

A selected sample of 59200 π+ p andK + p nonsingle-diffrative interactions at \(\sqrt s \) =22 GeV is used to investigate one, two- and three-dimensional factorial moments, factorial cumulant moments, as well as correlation integrals. The rise of factorial moments and cumulants with decreasing phase-space volume is stronger when evaluated in three than in lower dimensions. Ratios of slopes are easier to obtain than the slopes themselves. Contrary to earlier findings, they turn out to depend on the dimension. The order dependence of the averaged ratios is better described by a Lévy stable law solution with μ=1.6 than by Gaussian approximation of the α-model (μ=2) or a second order phase transition (μ=0), but values μ>2 inconsistent with Lévy-type fluctuations are reached in a three-dimensional analysis. The multiparticle contributions to the factorial moments are calculated by means of factorial cumulant moments. A particular improvement of the method is that of correlation (or density) integrals. It leads to the conclusion that Bose-Einstein interference plays an important role in the intermittency effect, but indication is found for an interpretation alternative to the conventional view of Bose-Einstein correlations. 相似文献

We report on a study of ρ0, ρ+, ω, \(\bar K^{*0} (892)\) andK *0 (892) inclusive production in π+ p interactions at 250 GeV/c, for ρ+, \(\bar K^{*0} (892)\) for the first time in a π+ p experiment. Data on fast protons and antiprotons produced byπ ± incident on hydrogen and nuclear targets at 30 GeV/c are presented. The results covering the kinematic range 0.32 F <0.54 andp T >0.2 GeV/c, complete our previous paper. We give results on inclusive cross-sections as a function ofx F , ofp T 2 and on cross-section ratios. A search for effects of nuclear matter on the production of protons and antiprotons has yielded no major effects beyond final state absorption. 相似文献

The charged particle multiplicity distribution has been studied for non-single-diffractive π+ p andpp collisions at \(\sqrt s = 22\) GeV, for full phase space as well as for intervals in rapidity, azimuthal angle and transverse momentum. In general, the multiplicity distribution is well described by a negative binomial. From comparison of the distribution for negative or positive particles to that of all charged particles, cascading is favoured as an interpretation over stimulated emission. Interesting consequences follow from a comparison of our results to those at collider energies and toe + e ? data at comparable energy. Furthermore, evidence is given that the multiplicity distribution is not exactly of negative binomial type in every (connected or disconnected) phase space region. 相似文献

Meson-nucleon quasi-elastic scattering is studied with (semi) inclusive production of a central hadron cluster. The dominant mechanism of central cluster production is double pomeron exchange. The cross section is (39±5±8) b and (24±6±3) b for pion and kaon induced reactions, respectively. An estimate of the pomeron-pomeron total cross section pp is extracted in the interval

*(2010)+ mesons inB decays and in nonresonante

– annihilation around 10.6 GeV. The inclusive branching ratios forB decays toD
0,D
+ andD
*+ mesons are found to be (52.2±8.2±3.5)%, (27.2±6.3±3.5)% and (34.8±6.0±3.5)% respectively. Thus,D
0 andD
+ production account for about 70% of the charm produced inB decays, neglectingbu contributions to the total width. The production cross sections and momentum spectra for continuume
+
e

Forward-backward multiplicity correlations in σ+,K + p andpp collisions at 250 GeV/c ( \(\sqrt s \) =22 GeV) are given for all charges and for the different charge combinations. The correlations are found to be caused predominantly by centrally produced particles. It is demonstrated that this result is an agreement with observations at the ISR and the CERNp \(\bar p\) -Collider. The results are compared to expectations from LUND, DPM and FRITIOF Monte Carlo models and a geometrical picture relating correlations in hadron-hadron collisions toe + e ? data in terms of impact parameters is tested. 相似文献

The inclusive π0 and γ production is studied in a \(\bar PP\) experiment at 32.1 GeV/c performed in the Mirabelle bubble chamber with a sensitivity of ~2.7 events/μb. Total and topological π0 cross sections are presented. The π0 and γ longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions are obtained and compared with \(\bar PP\) data at 22.4 GeV/c andK ± P data at 32.1 GeV/c. Results are presented on π+p and K+p elastic scattering at 250 GeV/c, the highest momentum so far reached for positive meson beams. Using the Glauber model, we discuss the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions in heavy-ion collisions. Based on the latter, after considering the effect of energy loss of the nucleons in multiple collisions, we derive the pseudorapidity distribution of the multiplicity as a function of the impact parameter in nucleus-nucleus collisions. Using this, we analyze the experimental measurements carried out by the BRAHMS Collaboration in Au+Au collisions at √sNN=200GeV. The results are in good agreement with the experimental observations. 相似文献
