We develop a classical model of the parametric effect of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) within the line of resonance absorption of an electromagnetic wave in the medium--an effect initially discovered for a quantum three-level system. On the basis of this model, the EIT effect for electromagnetic waves at frequencies of the electron-cyclotron resonance in a cold plasma is considered. Similar to the analogous quantum scheme, the EIT window in the classical model is characterized by group deceleration of the reference electron-cyclotron wave.  相似文献

We investigate a classical analog of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) currently popular in quantum electronics. We consider EIT for electron cyclotron waves in finite-temperature plasma. We derive an expression for the effective refractive index of an electromagnetic wave and study the dispersion and absorption of this wave under EIT conditions. Allowance for thermal motion is shown to radically change the behavior of the dispersion curves for the signal wave in the EIT region compared to the case of cold plasma.  相似文献

We investigate experimentally the absorptive and dispersive properties of the triple-resonant optical parametric amplifier (OPA) for the degenerate subharmonic field. In the experiment the subharmonic field is utilized as the probe field and the harmonic wave as the pump field. We demonstrate that the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT)-like effect can be simulated in the triple-resonant OPA when the cavity linewidth for the harmonic wave is narrower than that for the subharmonic field. However, this phenomenon cannot be observed in a double-resonant OPA. The narrow transparency window appears in the reflected field. Especially in the measured dispersive spectra of the triple-resonant OPA, a very steep variation of the dispersive profile of the subharmonic field is observed, which can result in a slow light as that observed in an atomic EIT medium.  相似文献

The squeezed vacuum resonant on the (87)Rb D1 line (probe light) was injected into an optically dense rubidium gas cell with a coherent light (control light). The output probe light maintained its quadrature squeezing within the transparency window caused by the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). The results reported here are the first realization of EIT in the full quantum regime.  相似文献

对Λ型三能级原子电磁感应透明(EIT)过程中辐射场的二阶相干度进行了研究。理论分析表明,在电磁感应透明系统中,由于原子的相干效应导致其上能级共振荧光场的二阶相干度将呈现单光子场的量子统计特性。并对其随耦合场强度和探测光失谐的变化进行了详细的分析和讨论,结果发现:在|Ω|〉(Γ2+Γ3)/2情况下.采用较弱的耦合光功率(由托比频率Ω表征)及较大的探测光失谐,在较长时间延迟范围内,二阶相十度保持小于1,更利于实现非经典场的量子统计行为;相反,在|Ω|≤(Γ2+Γ3)/2情况下,探测光的失谐量越小,越利于获得二阶相干度小于1的量子统计光场。南此可见选取合适的参量可优化电磁感应透明过程中单光子场的量子统计特性。  相似文献

We report the first experimental identification of the new wave branch at electron cyclotron frequency produced by the injection of a frequency-matched intense pump wave in magnetized plasma [A.?G. Litvak and M.?D. Tokman, Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 095003 (2002); G. Shvets and J.?S. Wurtele, Phys. Rev. Lett. 89, 115003 (2002)], which is a classical phenomenon analogous to electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in quantum systems. By using a frequency-sweep interferometer, we directly detected the dispersion relation of the plasma EIT branch for propagation parallel to the background magnetic field. The bandwidth of the EIT window was correlated with the pump-wave electric field and was found to agree with the theoretical prediction.  相似文献

The stimulated processes in electron plasma, i.e., Cherenkov radiation by a nonrelativistic electron beam of longitudinal oscillations and Compton scattering of a transverse electromagnetic wave in plasma with quantum mode excitation (de Broglie wave), are considered in the three-wave approximation. We demonstrate the enhancement and suppression of four‐wave mixing (FWM) in an electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) window in Y‐type 85Rb atomic system. The generated two‐photon FWM signal can be selectively enhanced and suppressed via an EIT window. The EIT of probe as well as the enhancement and suppression of FWM signals can be modified by the sequential‐cascade double dressing. The influence of different probe polarization configurations is also studied. 提出了一种利用微波场的相对相位调控电磁诱导透明(EIT)光谱特性的方法. 在外加双微波驱动场的准Λ型四能级原子系统中,通过求解系统的密度矩阵方程得到探测场的吸收谱,分析了电磁诱导透明窗口的位置随微波驱动场相位的变化规律,并借助缀饰态理论给出了准确解释. 结果表明,对于确定的作用场强度,调节微波驱动场的相位可实现电磁诱导透明的频率位置及间隔的准确控制. 关键词: 四能级原子系统 电磁诱导透明(EIT) 相位控制 微波场  相似文献

The effect of slowing down pulses of probe radiation in a medium consisting of two-level quantum systems whose longitudinal and transverse relaxation times strongly differ is studied. The conditions for the occurrence of “slow light” in a transparency window are obtained. Regimes are discovered in which the medium becomes transparent or amplifies the probe radiation, with the high dispersion of the refractive index being conserved. The parameters at which the delay time of the probe radiation reaches a maximum or the group velocity of this radiation decreases to a maximal possible value under the condition of exact resonance with the strong field are found.  相似文献

The effects of spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) and phases of optical fields on the phenomenon of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) are investigated in a four-level inverted-Y system and in a five-level K-type system under various parametric conditions in order to demonstrate controllability of the EIT, dispersion properties, and group velocity in such systems. Non-zero second-order susceptibility in both systems is due to the SGC effect. The experimental viability of the model in semiconductor quantum well systems is also discussed.  相似文献

We study the steady optical response of a square lattice in which all trapped atoms are driven by a probe and a coupling fields into the ladder configuration of electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT). It turns out to be a manybody problem in the presence of van der Waals(vd W) interaction among atoms in the upmost Rydberg state, so Monte Carlo(MC) calculation based on density matrix equations have been done after introducing a sufficiently large cut-off radius. It is found that the absorption and dispersion of EIT spectra depends critically on a few key parameters like lattice dimension, unitary vd W shift, probe Rabi frequency, and coupling detuning. Through modulating these parameters, it is viable to change symmetries of the absorption and dispersion spectra and control on demand depth and position of the transparency window. Our MC calculation is expected to be instructive in understanding many-body quantum coherence effects and in manipulating non-equilibrium quantum phenomena by utilizing vd W interactions of Rydberg atoms.  相似文献

对在掺杂稀土离子晶体中实现电磁感应光透明进行了实验研究。首先,以Er3+∶YAG晶体为样品,用旋转波近似下的密度矩阵方程理论计算了探测场的吸收特性随Er3+离子浓度的变化规律,结果表明:在探测场失谐Δp=0时,形成了一个对于探测光透明的窗口,从而在理论上论证了在掺杂稀土离子晶体中实现电磁感应光透明效应的可行性。设计了一个以Pr3+∶Y2SiO5晶体为样品的实验激发方案,吸收光谱显示,当温度为6 K时其在共振吸收峰处可形成一个完全透明的窗口,实现了在掺杂离子晶体中的电磁感应光透明。实验还分析了工作温度、耦合场失谐对探测光透过率的影响,结果显示:当样品温度上升到15 K时,透明窗口消失;耦合场的失谐量越大,透射率越小。  相似文献

As applications of the full quantum theory, we show that transient-state EIT medium exhibits normal dispersion and find that group velocities of both coupling and probe lasers are greatly reduced. It is shown that the parallel (magnetic field-aligned) velocity shear can drive the low-frequency (in comparison with the ion gyrofrequency) electrostatic (LF-ES) waves in an ultracold super-dense nonuniform magnetoplasma. By using an electron density response arising from the balance between the electrostatic and quantum Bohm forces, as well as the ion density response deduced from the continuity and momentum equations, a wave equation for the LF-ES waves is derived. In the local approximation, a new dispersion relation is obtained by Fourier transforming the wave equation. The dispersion relation reveals an oscillatory instability of dispersive drift-like modes in super-dense quantum magnetoplasmas.  相似文献

The interaction of a quantized electromagnetic field in a squeezed coherent state with a three-level Λ-atom is studied numerically by the quantum Monte Carlo method and analytically by the Heisenberg-Langevin method in the regime of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). The possibility of noise suppression in the atomic system through the quantum properties of squeezed light is considered in detail; the characteristics of the atomic system responsible for the relaxation processes and noise in the EIT band have been found. Further applications of the Monte Carlo method and the developed numerical code to the study of more complex systems are discussed.  相似文献
