Third-harmonic and sum-frequency generation in quadratically nonlinear azopolymer films is experimentally studied using femtosecond chromium forsterite laser pulses. A noncollinear geometry of sum-frequency and third-harmonic generation developed and implemented in this work allows the influence of the time ordering of ultrashort laser pump pulses on nonlinear-optical phenomena to be experimentally observed. Femtosecond laser pulses induce transitions of azopolymer molecules to an electronically excited state and produce vibrational wave packets, leading to an asymmetry in the dependence of the efficiency of second-and third-order nonlinear-optical processes on the delay time between the pump pulses.  相似文献

It is shown that efficient sum-frequency mixing is possible through transparency induced by autoionization. Tuning the incident laser frequencies to the absorption minimum of an autoionizing resonance for the generated wave greatly reduces the linear absorption of the generated wave while third-order susceptibility is still enhanced. The proposed scheme does not require any strong radiative couplings and would be particularly useful for the generation of short-wavelength radiation.  相似文献

以三次谐波自相关测量原理为出发点,研究了其和频过程中BBO晶体的表面散射杂散光。详细推导了由晶体表面散射引入的杂散光的具体表达式,定量分析了其对和频过程中输出信号的对比度的影响。分析表明,杂散光强度与晶体表面粗糙度有一定的关系。晶体表面粗糙度为激光波长的1%时,引入的杂散光噪声约为10-8。表面越光滑,引入的噪声越小。  相似文献

We investigate the effect of an induced sum-frequency signal on the transient modulation of interband-resonant probe light by a train of intersubband-resonant coupling light pulses in undoped quantum wells. The origin of the generated sum-frequency signal lies in the asymmetry of the three-level quantum well structure. The modulation characteristics are found to be significantly affected in the presence of a strong sum-frequency signal that builds up proportionately to the input probe field. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. The dynamics of short (of the order of a few wave periods) intense optical pulses and interaction of short optical solitons in fibers are considered within the framework of the third-order nonlinear Schrodinger equation. It is shown that an initial pulse tends to one or a few short solitons plus a linear quasiperiodic wave when the third-order linear dispersion and nonlinear dispersion have parameters of the same sign. The number and parameters of the solitons depend on the magnitudes of initial pulse parameters. Interaction of short optical solitons having different amplitudes is accompanied by radiation of part of the wave field from the area of interaction, by an increase of the soliton with larger amplitude, and a decrease of the soliton with a smaller one. 外腔共振是提高和频效率的有效方法. 实现外腔共振高效和频需要基频光高效地耦合到外部谐振腔中, 因此系统要达到阻抗匹配. 本文分别建立了双波长和单波长外腔共振和频系统的理论模型, 分析了腔增强因子与耦合腔镜反射率、入射基频光功率等参数的依赖关系, 通过数值模拟获得最优化的共振光耦合腔镜反射率, 使系统达到阻抗匹配, 提高和频效率. 研究表明, 无论双波长还是单波长外腔共振和频系统, 共振基频光的最佳耦合腔镜反射率只会随着另一束共振或者不共振的基频光入射功率的增加而减小, 而其本身的入射功率变化则影响较小; 进一步分析表明, 若共振基频光的耦合腔镜反射率超过阻抗匹配值, 和频光功率将会迅速减小, 而小于阻抗匹配值时, 和频光功率减少速度相对较慢, 因此实验过程中要尽量避免过耦合的情况出现. 本文的理论分析过程将对外腔和频实验有一定的指导意义.  相似文献

In the Rayleigh–Gans–Debye approximation, we have solved the problem of the sum-frequency generation by two plane elliptically polarized electromagnetic waves from the surface of a dielectric particle of a cylindrical shape that is coated by a thin layer possessing nonlinear optical properties. The formulas that describe the sum-frequency field have been presented in the tensor and vector forms for the second-order nonlinear dielectric susceptibility tensor, which was chosen in the general form, containing chiral components. Expressions describing the sum-frequency field from the cylindrical particle ends have been obtained for the case of a nonlinear layer possessing chiral properties. Three-dimensional directivity patterns of the sum-frequency radiation have been analyzed for different combinations of parameters (angles of incidence, degrees of ellipticity, orientations of polarization ellipses, cylindrical particle dimensions). The mathematical properties of the spatial distribution functions of the sum-frequency field, which characterize the symmetry of directivity patterns, have been revealed.  相似文献

A theoretical model of the sum-frequency wave field produced by a nonlinear acoustic source with three-frequency pumping is reported. The model allows for the dissipation and diffraction of the Gaussian beam. The sum-frequency wave is represented within the second-order approximation as a superposition of two synchronous copropagating waves with equal frequencies. It is shown that the spatial and amplitude-phase characteristics of the sum-frequency wave are affected not only by the amplitude-phase relations in the pumping spectrum, but also by the diffraction-caused variations in amplitudes and phases of the primary waves. This dependence is most clearly seen under the phase exclusion conditions, when the generation of the sum-frequency wave is actually suppressed (excluded) owing to the appropriate choice of the amplitude and phase pumping spectra. The theoretical results are found to agree well with experimental data. The possible practical applications of the phase exclusion conditions are as follows: inspection of inhomogeneous media, detection of objects near interfaces, reduction of nonlinear attenuation, acoustic measurements, etc.  相似文献

We show both theoretically and experimentally by degenerate four-wave mixing that the combined processes of optical rectification and the linear electro-optic effect contribute to the large effective third-order susceptibilities [14chi((3))(CS(2))] of the organic salt 4-N, N^- dimethylamino-4(?) -N(?) -methylstilbazolium toluene-p- sulfonate (DAST). Furthermore, the knowledge of the cascaded contributions was used to determine absolute values of the third-order susceptibilities as well as their sign.  相似文献

We derive a numerical model of visible Raman lasers that employ simultaneous intracavity Raman shifting and intracavity second-harmonic or sum-frequency generation. We show excellent agreement with previous experimental results, and explain the mechanism by which sum-frequency generation can inhibit the generation of the Stokes field. We predict that increased output powers should be achieved using unusually short crystals of only few millimeters length.  相似文献

In the tensor form, using the generalized Rayleigh–Gans–Debye approximation, the problem of the sum-frequency generation from a thin nonlinear layer deposited on a dielectric spherical particle placed in a dielectric medium is solved. The second-order nonlinear dielectric susceptibility tensor is chosen in a general form containing chiral components. In the vector and tensor forms, expressions are obtained that describe the spatial distribution of the sum-frequency radiation field generated by two plane electromagnetic elliptically polarized waves. Limiting expressions that describe the spatial distribution of the sum-frequency harmonic at small and large radii of the spherical layer are obtained. It is revealed that, at small radii of the spherical layer, the radiation due to the chiral anisotropy coefficients makes a dominant contribution to the generation.  相似文献

利用F-函数扩展法求解超介质中的超短脉冲传输方程, 探讨了超介质中的反常自陡效应和特有的二阶非线性色散效应所导致的新的孤子现象和规律. 结果表明, 正折射区的二阶非线性色散效应可以代替线性色散效应形成亮孤子; 正、负折射区的反常自陡效应由于其符号可改变, 从而可在特定条件下分别在反常色散和正常色散区形成有别于常规介质的亮、暗孤子; 反常自陡效应的符号或者反常自陡效应和三阶线性色散效应的相互比较关系能够控制亮、暗孤子中心的漂移方向. 关键词: 孤子 超介质 F-函数扩展法  相似文献

The optical coefficients of a nonlinearity for a macroscopic ensemble of aggregates of metal nanoparticles that is caused by deformation of the spatial structure of clusters in a strong light field are calculated for the first time. For a continuous medium that consists of a nonabsorbing dielectric containing aggregated silver nanoparticles that do not possess an intrinsic optical nonlinearity, coefficients of nonlinear absorption are obtained in relation to the intensity and frequency of incident light. It is shown that, at intensities of up to a few megawatts per square centimeter, the addition to the absorption of a nanocomposite to be modeled is adequately described by a third-order nonlinearity. The magnitude and sign of the nonlinear absorption coefficient agree well with the previously obtained experimental data for aggregated silver and gold colloids under nanosecond excitation.  相似文献

We have calculated the spectral functions for a number of induced excitations near the sum-frequency generation of a bichromatic field interacting with a three-level atom in the cascade configuration. Although the two-photon spontaneous emission is electric dipole forbidden, there are induced peaks whose subnatural line widths and spectral heights depend on the intensities of the bichromatic field. At low intensities of both laser fields, the maximum heights of the induced peaks take positive, zero, and negative values, indicating that the physical processes of absorption (attenuation), dark resonance (nonabsorbing state), and stimulated emission (amplification) are likely to occur at the sum-frequency generation of the two laser fields, respectively.  报道了一台二极管激光器(DL)泵浦的全固态Nd:YAG和频激光器,激光是由Nd:YAG晶体的1 064 nm 和1 319 nm 谱线外腔和频产生,以6 mm×6 mm×12 mm KTP为和频晶体,采用Ⅱ类临界相位匹配, 在400 Hz重复频率下,当分别注入3.05 W和2.46 W的1 064 nm和1 319 nm调Q脉冲到KTP晶体时,和频最大输出达到了1.3 W,脉宽为35 ns,线宽优于3 GHz,和频效率达到了23.5%, 光束质量因子分别为1.84和1.93。实验结果表明采用激光二极管阵列泵浦Nd:YAG/ KTP 腔外和频技术是获得黄激光的高效方法, 并通过精确控制谐振腔内标准具的倾角与温度,和频输出波长可精确调谐到Na D2线。  相似文献

By numerical simulations, we show that picosecond Gaussian optical pulses with a precise optimal frequency chirping can transmit stably in full-dispersion compensation optical fiber links, with not only second- but also third-order dispersion compensation, using dispersion shift fibers with opposite dispersion sign. The optimal pre-chirp is determined principally by the second-order dispersion scheme and scarcely affected by third-order dispersion scheme. It demonstrates that, to a high bit rate transmission system, the pre-chirping technology and higher-order dispersion compensation are two very efficient measures in improving performance of system.  相似文献

With the general third-order equations of motion for a test particle, Synge's third-order orbital equations at great distance in the weak gravitational field generated by a massive body are derived. The body has an axis of symmetry around which is rotating steadily. The results found for the advance of perihelion using first integrals of motion for the general equations show that the effect due to the inner stress of the body can be derived for orbits with inclination with respect to the equator of the body. Then, by means of the variation of the parameters method, we obtain with the equations at great distance the corresponding perturbations on the elements of such orbits in the field considered. These perturbations result to be of second order with regard to the mass of the body (the basis of the approximation).  相似文献
