Template‐controlled self‐assembly of discrete molecular pentaphosphaferrocene and CuCl units was used to form the first entirely carbon‐free molecule that has C80 topology and encapsulates a carborane unit. In their Communication on page 5046 ff. , M. Scheer and co‐workers report the synthesis and characterization of this impressive supramolecular compound, which displays an electronic interaction between the carborane and the spherical host molecule. C blue, Fe olive, P pink, Cl green, C gray, B/C orange, H white.

A chemically mediated microfluidic approach to the generation of particle‐coated bubbles is reported by E. Kumacheva and co‐workers in their Communication on page 5300 ff. The approach employs rapid, controllable dissolution of CO2 bubbles in a dispersion of carboxylated particles. Local increases in the acidity of the medium in the neighborhood of the bubbles lead to a change in the surface energy of the particles and their deposition on the gas–liquid interface.

The binding, diffusion, and aggregation mechanism of an engineered binding peptide on Au(111), showing non‐equilibrium surface structures that lead to the formation of a confluent monolayer, is described by M. Sarikaya et al. in their Communication on page 5174 ff. The observed dynamic structural evolution involving the surface diffusion of peptides and multiple stages of molecular thin film topology are explained.
