We establish the vanishing viscosity limit of the Navier‐Stokes equations to the isentropic Euler equations for one‐dimensional compressible fluid flow. For the Navier‐Stokes equations, there exist no natural invariant regions for the equations with the real physical viscosity term so that the uniform sup‐norm of solutions with respect to the physical viscosity coefficient may not be directly controllable. Furthermore, convex entropy‐entropy flux pairs may not produce signed entropy dissipation measures. To overcome these difficulties, we first develop uniform energy‐type estimates with respect to the viscosity coefficient for solutions of the Navier‐Stokes equations and establish the existence of measure‐valued solutions of the isentropic Euler equations generated by the Navier‐Stokes equations. Based on the uniform energy‐type estimates and the features of the isentropic Euler equations, we establish that the entropy dissipation measures of the solutions of the Navier‐Stokes equations for weak entropy‐entropy flux pairs, generated by compactly supported C2 test functions, are confined in a compact set in H?1, which leads to the existence of measure‐valued solutions that are confined by the Tartar‐Murat commutator relation. A careful characterization of the unbounded support of the measure‐valued solution confined by the commutator relation yields the reduction of the measurevalued solution to a Dirac mass, which leads to the convergence of solutions of the Navier‐Stokes equations to a finite‐energy entropy solution of the isentropic Euler equations with finite‐energy initial data, relative to the different end‐states at infinity. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We investigate the singularity formation of a 3D model that was recently proposed by Hou and Lei (2009) in [15] for axisymmetric 3D incompressible Navier–Stokes equations with swirl. The main difference between the 3D model of Hou and Lei and the reformulated 3D Navier–Stokes equations is that the convection term is neglected in the 3D model. This model shares many properties of the 3D incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. One of the main results of this paper is that we prove rigorously the finite time singularity formation of the 3D inviscid model for a class of initial boundary value problems with smooth initial data of finite energy. We also prove the global regularity of the 3D inviscid model for a class of small smooth initial data.  相似文献

We study a family of 3D models for the incompressible axisymmetric Euler and Navier–Stokes equations. The models are derived by changing the strength of the convection terms in the equations written using a set of transformed variables. The models share several regularity results with the Euler and Navier–Stokes equations, including an energy identity, the conservation of a modified circulation quantity, the BKM criterion and the Prodi–Serrin criterion. The inviscid models with weak convection are numerically observed to develop stable self-similar singularity with the singular region traveling along the symmetric axis, and such singularity scenario does not seem to persist for strong convection.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the dynamic stability of the three‐dimensional axisymmetric Navier‐Stokes Equations with swirl. To this purpose, we propose a new one‐dimensional model that approximates the Navier‐Stokes equations along the symmetry axis. An important property of this one‐dimensional model is that one can construct from its solutions a family of exact solutions of the three‐dimensionaFinal Navier‐Stokes equations. The nonlinear structure of the one‐dimensional model has some very interesting properties. On one hand, it can lead to tremendous dynamic growth of the solution within a short time. On the other hand, it has a surprising dynamic depletion mechanism that prevents the solution from blowing up in finite time. By exploiting this special nonlinear structure, we prove the global regularity of the three‐dimensional Navier‐Stokes equations for a family of initial data, whose solutions can lead to large dynamic growth, but yet have global smooth solutions. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this per, we consider a special class of initial data for the three‐dimensional incompressible Navier–Stokes equations with gravity. We show that, under such conditions, the incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations with gravity are globally well posed, and the velocity minus gravity term has finite energy. The important features of the initial data is that the velocity fields minus gravity term are almost parallel to the corresponding vorticity fields in a very large space domain. We develop a variational multiscale proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) reduced‐order model (ROM) for turbulent incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations. Under two assumptions on the underlying finite element approximation and the generation of the POD basis, the error analysis of the full discretization of the ROM is presented. All error contributions are considered: the spatial discretization error (due to the finite element discretization), the temporal discretization error (due to the backward Euler method), and the POD truncation error. Numerical tests for a three‐dimensional turbulent flow past a cylinder at Reynolds number show the improved physical accuracy of the new model over the standard Galerkin and mixing‐length POD ROMs. The high computational efficiency of the new model is also showcased. Finally, the theoretical error estimates are confirmed by numerical simulations of a two‐dimensional Navier‐Stokes problem. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We study a nonlocal modification of the compressible Navier–Stokes equations in mono‐dimensional case with a boundary condition characteristic for the free boundaries problem. From the formal point of view, our system is an intermediate between the Euler and Navier–Stokes equations. Under certain assumptions, imposed on initial data and viscosity coefficient, we obtain the local and global existence of solutions. Particularly, we show the uniform in time bound on the density of fluid. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper we derive a probabilistic representation of the deterministic three‐dimensional Navier‐Stokes equations based on stochastic Lagrangian paths. The particle trajectories obey SDEs driven by a uniform Wiener process; the inviscid Weber formula for the Euler equations of ideal fluids is used to recover the velocity field. This method admits a self‐contained proof of local existence for the nonlinear stochastic system and can be extended to formulate stochastic representations of related hydrodynamic‐type equations, including viscous Burgers equations and Lagrangian‐averaged Navier‐Stokes alpha models. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Optimal estimates on stabilized finite volume methods for the three dimensional Navier–Stokes model are investigated and developed in this paper. Based on the global existence theorem [23], we first prove the global bound for the velocity in the H1‐norm in time of a solution for suitably small data, and uniqueness of a suitably small solution by contradiction. Then, a full set of estimates is then obtained by some classical Galerkin techniques based on the relationship between finite element methods and finite volume methods approximated by the lower order finite elements for the three dimensional Navier–Stokes model.  相似文献

We consider the Navier‐Stokes equations for viscous incompressible flows in the half‐plane under the no‐slip boundary condition. By using the vorticity formulation we prove the local‐in‐time convergence of the Navier‐Stokes flows to the Euler flows outside a boundary layer and to the Prandtl flows in the boundary layer in the inviscid limit when the initial vorticity is located away from the boundary. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Summary We introduce some new families of finite element approximation for the stationary Stokes and Navier Stokes equations in a bounded domain in 3. These elements can used tetahedrons or cubes. The approximation satisfie exactly the incompressibility condition.

We study the Cauchy problem of the 3‐dimensional nonhomogeneous heat conducting Navier‐Stokes equations with nonnegative density. First of all, we show that for the initial density allowing vacuum, the strong solution to the problem exists globally if the velocity satisfies the Serrin's condition. Then, under some smallness condition, we prove that there is a unique global strong solution to the 3D viscous nonhomogeneous heat conducting Navier‐Stokes flows. Our method relies upon the delicate energy estimates.  相似文献

We study the convergence of two generalized marker‐and‐cell covolume schemes for the incompressible Stokes and Navier–Stokes equations introduced by Cavendish, Hall, Nicolaides, and Porsching. The schemes are defined on unstructured triangular Delaunay meshes and exploit the Delaunay–Voronoi duality. The study is motivated by the fact that the related discrete incompressibility condition allows to obtain a discrete maximum principle for the finite volume solution of an advection–diffusion problem coupled to the flow. The convergence theory uses discrete functional analysis and compactness arguments based on recent results for finite volume discretizations for the biharmonic equation. For both schemes, we prove the strong convergence in L2 for the velocities and the discrete rotations of the velocities for the Stokes and the Navier–Stokes problem. Further, for one of the schemes, we also prove the strong convergence of the pressure in L2. These predictions are confirmed by numerical examples presented in the article. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 30: 1397–1424, 2014  相似文献

We investigate the uniform regularity and vanishing viscosity limit for the incompressible chemotaxis‐Navier‐Stokes system with Navier boundary condition for velocity field and Neumann boundary condition for cell density and chemical concentration in a 3D bounded domain. It is shown that there exists a unique strong solution of the incompressible chemotaxis‐Navier‐Stokes system in a finite time interval, which is independent of the viscosity coefficient. Moreover, this solution is uniformly bounded in a conormal Sobolev space, which allows us to take the vanishing viscosity limit to obtain the incompressible chemotaxis‐Euler system.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the finite element discretization of the Navier‐Stokes problem coupled with convection‐diffusion equations where both the viscosity and the diffusion coefficients depend on the temperature. Existence and uniqueness of a solution are established. We prove a posteriori error estimates.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate some new properties of the incompressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations by studying a 3D model for axisymmetric 3D incompressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations with swirl. The 3D model is derived by reformulating the axisymmetric 3D incompressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations and then neglecting the convection term of the resulting equations. Some properties of this 3D model are reviewed. Finally, some potential features of the incompressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations such as the stabilizing effect of the convection are presented.  相似文献

In this article, we propose and analyze a new decoupled characteristic stabilized finite element method for the time‐dependent Navier–Stokes/Darcy model. The key idea lies in combining the characteristic method with the stabilized finite element method to solve the decoupled model by using the lowest‐order conforming finite element space. In this method, the original model is divided into two parts: one is the nonstationary Navier–Stokes equation, and the other one is the Darcy equation. To deal with the difficulty caused by the trilinear term with nonzero boundary condition, we use the characteristic method. Furthermore, as the lowest‐order finite element pair do not satisfy LBB (Ladyzhen‐Skaya‐Brezzi‐Babuska) condition, we adopt the stabilized technique to overcome this flaw. The stability of the numerical method is first proved, and the optimal error estimates are established. Finally, extensive numerical results are provided to justify the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In the Navier‐Stokes equations the velocity and the pressure are coupled together by the incompressibility condition div u = 0( u = (u,v)T) which makes the equations difficult to solve numerically. In this article, a new method named linearized elimination of unknowns with differential quadrature method is applied to the Navier‐Stokes equations. The method is of second‐order accuracy in time and of spectral accuracy in space. The numerical results show that our method is of high accuracy, of good convergence with little computational efforts. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article focuses on discontinuous Galerkin method for the two‐ or three‐dimensional stationary incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations. The velocity field is approximated by discontinuous locally solenoidal finite element, and the pressure is approximated by the standard conforming finite element. Then, superconvergence of nonconforming finite element approximations is applied by using least‐squares surface fitting for the stationary Navier‐Stokes equations. The method ameliorates the two noticeable disadvantages about the given finite element pair. Finally, the superconvergence result is provided under some regular assumptions. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 23: 421–436, 2007  相似文献

In this article we discuss an application of a Lagrange multiplier based fictitious domain method for the simulation of moving leaflets in an unsteady flow generated by pressure gradients during the systolic phase of the cardiac cycle in three dimensional geometry. The mathematical model includes the Navier–Stokes equations coupled with the Euler–Newton equations describing fluid–structure interaction for the generalized Neumann boundary conditions on upstream and downstream boundaries. The solution method includes the finite element method combined with an operator-splitting scheme, where the fictitious formulation allows the flow calculations to be in a fixed rectangular parallelepiped to predict the dynamic structural positions and flow field during the valve opening and closing phases.  相似文献
