The effective static dielectric constant of an electron plasma system in the simultaneous presence of two electromagnetic waves and a strong DC magnetic field is calculated. It is found that as the difference Δω of the two electromagnetic wave frequencies matches the plasma frequency ωρ a breakdown in screening occurs thereby increasing the plasma heating rate via the external fields due to inverse Bremmstrahlung. An application is made by considering the typical parameters of a hot plasma. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The DC magnetization and AC magnetic susceptibilities were measured for MgB2 single crystals, unsubstituted and carbon substituted with the composition of Mg(B0.94C0.06)2. AC magnetic losses were derived from the AC susceptibility data as a function of the AC amplitude and the DC bias magnetic field. From the DC magnetization loops critical current densities were derived as a function of temperature and DC field. Results show that the substitution with carbon decreases critical current densities at low external magnetic fields, in contrast to the well known effect of an increase of the critical current densities at higher magnetic fields.  相似文献

Giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect has been measured in a glass-coated amorphous (Co0.93Fe0.7)63Ni10Si11B16 microwire as a function of DC magnetic field and up to the frequency of 11 MHz. The sample shows single peak GMI characteristics within the whole range of frequency. The domain structure of the above sample has been changed by applying tensile stresses up to 603 MPa and current annealing with a DC current of 50 mA for various time durations, and the corresponding effect on GMI has been studied in detail. A maximum change of 8.85% in MI of the as-quenched sample has been observed around a frequency of 5.05 MHz. Application of an external tensile stress reduces the GMI value by increasing the inner core domain, whereas heat treatment of the sample enhances the same. The square-shaped magnetic hysteresis loop of the as-quenched sample helps us understanding the MI results.  相似文献

It is known that the static magnetic field of a Hall thruster remains unchanged with the product of coil current and coil turn kept constant. This is called the ampere‐turns equivalence principle, which is used in the static magnetic field design of Hall thrusters. It is found that the discharge characteristic is different with the same static magnetic field which is formed by the same ampere‐turns but different coil turns. The effects of the fluctuating magnetic field on the static magnetic field are studied experimentally and theoretically, and the effective collision frequency is calculated based on the dispersion relation of coupling oscillations and the estimation of the fluctuating magnetic field. Results indicate that the different coil turns are accompanied by different coupling intensities which lead to different magnetic field fluctuations. The different magnetic field fluctuations cause differences in the effective electron collision frequency and therefore the electron conductivity and the discharge characteristic of Hall thrusters (© 2012 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We have studied negative magnetoresistance due to the weak localization effects in a 2D electron gas (2DEG) grown on dimpled substrates. Since the 2DEG is sensitive only to the normal component of B, depending on the orientation of the external magnetic field, electrons will move in a spatially inhomogeneous (B perpendicular to the substrate-B) or sign alternating, random magnetic field (B parallel to the substrate B). A difference in the magnetoresistance at B and B is seen for the sample with a coherence length larger than the spatial periodicity of magnetic field. We believe that the difference in the magnetic flux through the closed electron trajectories at B and B, taken into account random character of B, is responsible for this behaviour. Features connected with Aharonov Bohm flux through the different areas on the dimpled surface were observed.  相似文献

We report on the reliability of Inx Al1–xN/AlN/GaN‐based heterostructure field‐effect transistors (HFETs) fabricated on five different wafers with varying indium compositions (0.12 ≤ x ≤ 0.20) encompassing the tensile/compressive strain fields. All of the tested devices underwent high field on‐state stress at 20 V DC drain bias and zero gate bias for five hours. We monitored the drain current and low‐frequency noise (LFN) a priori and a posteriori the stress treatment to quantify device degradation. HFETs suffering tensile strain showed remarkably large degradation which manifested itself with up to 25 dB increase in noise power and up to 72% loss of drain current after stress. On the other hand, devices fabricated on compressively strained structures remained intact after stress, but they had about 30 dB higher pre‐stress noise‐power levels and about 50% lower drain‐current densities to begin with. The results show that the nearly lattice‐matched In0.17Al0.83N barrier exhibited very low degradation along with current density remaining high compared with the devices having barriers with lower or higher indium content. Our results suggest that the nearly‐lattice‐matched InAlN can be a good candidate for devices due to its relatively better reliability while maintaining a high current density. This article presents measurements by a cylindrical Langmuir probe in the plasma of a DC cylindrical magnetron discharge át the pressure 1.5 Pa that aim at the experimental assessment of the influence of a weak magnetic field to the estimation of the electron density when using conventional methods of probe data interpretation. The probe data was obtained under the presence of a weak magnetic field in the range 1.10?2?5.10?2 T. The influence of the magnetic field on the electron probe current is experimentally assessed for two cylindrical probes with different radii, 50 μm and 21 μm. This assessment is based on comparison of the values of the electron density estimated from the electron current part with the values of the positive ion density estimated from the positive ion current part of the probe characteristic respectively by assuming that at the magnetic field strengths used in the present study the probe positive ion currents are possible to be assumed as uninfluenced by the magnetic field. For interpretation of the probe positive ion current two theories are used and compared to each other: the radial motion model by Allen, Boyd and Reynolds [10] and Chen [11] and the model that accounts for the collisions of positive ions with neutrals in the probe space charge sheath that we call Chen-Talbot model [8]. At lower magnetic field 3 · 10?2 T the positive ion density values interpreted by using the Chen-Talbot model [8] are in better agreement with the values of electron density compared to those obtained by using the theory [10,11]; therefore the model [8] is used for calculation of the positive ion density from the probe data at higher magnetic fields. The comparison of the positive ion and electron density values calculated from the same probe data at higher magnetic fields shows that up to the magnetic field strength 4 . 10?2 T with the probe 100 μm and up to 5 . 10?2 T with the probe 42 μm in diameter respectively the decrease of the magnitude of the electron current at the space potential due to the magnetic field does not exceed the error limits that are usual for Langmuir probe measurements (absolute error ±20%).  相似文献

We deposited epitaxial BiFeO3–CoFe2O4 (BFO–CFO) self‐assembled thin films on (001) SrTiO3 (STO) substrates. We find that a combined annealing and etching process could remove the BFO matrix, thereby resulting in free‐standing CFO nanopillar arrays. Scanning electron and atomic force microscopies showed well separated CFO nanopillars, which were very similar to the original CFO ones in the self‐assembled structure. Finally, comparison of the magnetic hysteresis loops before and after removal of the BFO matrix showed a significant decrease of the coercive field and a dramatic decrease in the strain dominated magnetic anisotropy. The magnetic properties of three samples of Fe3Al—as melted and annealed, high energy ball milled and milled sample followed by annealing—have been studied using a combination of X-ray diffraction, Transmission electron microscopy, room temperature 57Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy and DC magnetization. The different magnetic contributions in the M?ssbauer spectra have been explained in terms of the nearest neighbour Al configuration of Fe. These correlate well to the bulk magnetic properties determined by DC magnetization. High temperature DC magnetization studies show the presence of antiferromagnetic contributions from grain boundaries in the ball milled, nano sized sample.  相似文献

The resonant scattering and diffraction beamline P09 at PETRA III at DESY is equipped with a 14 T vertical field split‐pair magnet. A helium‐3 refrigerator is available that can be fitted inside the magnet's variable‐temperature insert. Here the results of a series of experiments aimed at determining the beam conditions permitting operations with the He‐3 insert are presented. By measuring the tetragonal‐to‐orthorhombic phase transition occurring at 2.1 K in the Jahn–Teller compound TmVO4, it is found that the photon flux at P09 must be attenuated down to 1.5 × 109 photons s?1 for the sample to remain at temperatures below 800 mK. Despite such a reduction of the incident flux and the subsequent use of a Cu(111) analyzer, the resonant X‐ray magnetic scattering signal at the Tm LIII absorption edge associated with the spin‐density wave in TmNi2B2C below 1.5 K is intense enough to permit a complete study in magnetic field and at sub‐Kelvin temperatures to be carried out.  相似文献

BSCCO/Ag tape superconductors are developed for electrical power applications at liquid nitrogen temperatures. In these applications, e.g., superconducting transformers and power cables, an AC transport current and an AC magnetic field are present at the same time. A set-up to measure the influence of external AC magnetic field on the transport current loss, i.e., the voltage drop across a sample supplied with an AC transport current, has been developed. The magnetic field can be applied both parallel and perpendicular to the broad side of the tape conductor. An increase of the transport current loss due to the external AC magnetic field is observed. When a DC external magnetic field is applied the increase of the self-field loss can be described well by the decrease of the critical current due to the magnetic field. In the case of an AC external magnetic field this is only a minor effect. For magnetic field amplitudes higher than a certain threshold value the transport current loss is described reasonably well by the self-field loss and a dynamic resistance contribution calculated from the DC voltage–current relation in AC magnetic field.  相似文献

This paper studies the propagation and spatial attenuation of high‐frequency eigen‐symmetric and dipolar electromagnetic waves along a coaxial plasma–metal waveguiding structure that contains a slightly axial and strong radial non‐uniform cylindrical plasma slab in an external azimuthal non‐uniform magnetic field. The influence of such parameters as the effective electron collision frequency, the direct current value producing the external azimuthal magnetic field, parameters that characterize plasma density radial profile, and waveguide geometric parameters on the dispersion, spatial attenuation, and radial field structure of the waves is considered. The regions of waveguiding structure parameters where the electromagnetic wave properties can be effectively controlled are studied and analyzed.  相似文献

We investigate the magnetic properties of Ho‐doped Bi2Te3 thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Analysis of the polarized X‐ray absorption spectra at the Ho M5 absorption edge gives an effective 4f magnetic moment which is ~45% of the Hund's rule ground state value. X‐ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) shows no significant anisotropy, which suggests that the reduced spin moment is not due to the crystal field effects, but rather the presence of non‐magnetic or antiferromagnetic Ho sites. Extrapolating the temperature dependence of the XMCD measured in total electron yield and fluorescence yield mode in a field of 7 T gives a Curie–Weiss temperature of ?CW ≈ –30 K, which suggests antiferromagnetic ordering, in contrast to the paramagnetic behavior observed with SQUID magnetometry. From the anomaly of the XMCD signal at low temperatures, a Néel temperature TN between 10 K and 25 K is estimated. (© 2016 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH &Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

In this paper we study the structural, morphological and magnetic properties of La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (LSMO) manganite nanoparticles (NPs) and its biocomposite, obtained by mixing NPs of hydroxyapatite (HA). From the studies of X-ray diffraction and Fourier transmission of infrared spectroscopy it is evident that in the biocomposite sample both the individual phases are distinguishable from each other. The measurements of direct current (DC) magnetization and hysteresis loops reveal that the basic magnetic behaviour of LSMO–HA is similar to that of LSMO; however, the admixture of HA makes the sample magnetically softer. From the investigation of transmission electron microscopy it is observed that such a biocomposite is composed of the NPs of LSMO surrounded by HA particles, which can be found suitable for biomedical applications.  相似文献

We investigate the quantum Hall effect (QHE) in the InAs/GaSb hybridized electron–hole system grown on a conductive InAs substrate which act as a back-gate. In these samples, the electron density is constant and the hole density is controlled by the gate-voltage. Under a magnetic field perpendicular to the sample plane, the QHE appears along integer Landau-level (LL) filling factors of the net-carriers, where the net-carrier density is the difference between the electron and hole densities. In addition, longitudinal resistance maxima corresponding to the crossing of the extended states of the original electron and hole LLs make the QHE regions along integer-νnet discontinuous. Under tilted magnetic fields, these Rxx maxima disappear in the high magnetic field region. The results show that the in-plane magnetic field component enhances the electron–hole hybridization and the formation of minigaps at LL crossings.  相似文献

The Hubbard model extended by both nearest‐neighbour (nn) Coulomb correlation and nearest‐neighbour Heisenberg exchange is solved rigorously for a triangle and tetrahedron. All eigenvalues and eigenvectors are given as functions of the model parameters in a closed analytical form. For fixed electron numbers we found a multitude of level crossings, both in the ground state and in the excited states in dependence on the various model parameters. By coupling an ensemble of clusters to an electron bath we get the cluster gas model or the cluster gas approximation, if an extended array of weak‐interacting clusters is considered. The grand‐canonical potential Ω (μ, T, h) and the electron occupation N (μ, T, h) of the related cluster gases were calculated for arbitrary values (attractive and repulsive) of the three interaction constants. For the cluster gases without the additional interactions we found various steps in N (μ, T = 0, h = 0) higher than one. The reason is the degeneration of ground states differing in their electron occupation by more than one electron. For the triangular cluster gas we have one such degeneration point. For the tetrahedral cluster gas two. As a consequence, we do not find areas with one electron in the μ‐U ground‐state phase diagram of the triangular cluster gas or with one, two and five electrons in the case of the tetrahedral cluster gas. The degeneration point of the triangular cluster gas can not be destroyed by an applied magnetic field. This holds also for the lower degeneration point of the tetrahedral cluster gas. Otherwise, the upper degeneration point breaks down at a critical magnetic field hc. The dependence of hc on U shows a maximum for strong on‐site correlation. The influence of nn‐exchange and nn‐Coulomb correlation on the ground‐state phase diagrams is calculated. Whereas antiferromagnetic nn‐exchange breaks the degeneration points of the tetrahedral cluster gas partially only, a repulsive nn‐Coulomb correlation lifts the underlying degeneracies completely. Otherwise both ferromagnetic nn‐exchange and attractive nn‐Coulomb interaction stabilise the degeneration points. The consequences of the cluster gas results for extended cluster arrays are discussed.  相似文献

Photoconductivity of Pb1 ? x Sn x Te(In) solid solutions in the terahertz spectral range is defined by a new type of local electron states linked to the quasi-Fermi level. The paper deals with investigation of the influence of electric current and magnetic field on the amplitude of the terahertz photoconductivity in Pb1 ? x Sn x Te(In) alloys of different composition. It is shown that the density of local electron states responsible for the positive persistent photoconductivity decreases with increasing electric current via a sample, as well as with transition to the hole conductivity in samples with a high content of tin telluride (x > 0.26). It is found that the magnetic field dependence of the positive photoconductivity is non-monotonous and has a maximum. The maximum position in magnetic field is proportional to the terahertz radiation quantum energy. Mechanisms responsible for the effects observed are discussed.  相似文献

We studied the electron heat transport across a non‐local stochastic magnetic field and a non‐local non‐stochastic magnetic field in tokamak plasmas. Analytical results and numerical simulation results were compared with conditions of a stochastic and a non‐stochastic magnetic field respectively in this article. Parameter of stochasticity in perturbed magnetic field was found not tobe a key factor in influencing effective radial heat conductivity in radial direction of tokomak when Chirikov parameter is close to one (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We have investigated the current for the system of vibrating quantum dot irradiated with a rotating magnetic field and an oscillating magnetic field by nonequilibrium Green's function. The rotating magnetic field rotates with the angular frequency ωr around the z-axis with the tilt angle ?, and the time-oscillating magnetic field is located in the z-axis with the angular frequency ω. Different behaviors have been shown in the presence of electron-phonon interaction (EPI) which plays a significant role in the transport. The current displays asymmetric behavior as the source-drain bias eV=0, novel side peaks or shoulders can be found due to the phonon absorption and emission procedure, and the negative differential resistance becomes stronger as the parameter g increases. Furthermore, the strong EPI also destroys the quasiperiodic oscillations of current in the region μ0B1>2.5Δ. The electron transport properties are also significantly influenced by the linewidth function Γ.  相似文献
