From the static equation of atmosphere, the equation of state for ideal gases, the law of gravitation and the law of Maxwell distribution, the Jeans empirical rule is derived. The apphcability of the Jeans empirical rule is mainly determined by the mean density of the planet. Abstract

Rheology of icy/rocky porous mixtures relevant to material of icy satellites of giant planets was studied experimentally. The lower limit of temperature was that of liquid nitrogen and the pressure was up to 17.7 MPa. The compaction rate was studied and empirical formula was fitted. The dependence of formula parameters upon pressure, temperature and rock concentration was established.  相似文献

In this paper we present an overview of light scattering experiments devoted to measure one or more elements of the scattering matrix as functions of the scattering angle of ensembles of randomly oriented small irregular particles in air. A summary of the most important findings in light scattering experiments on ensembles of randomly oriented particles in air is given. The particles of interest are relevant for studies of atmospheres of planets and satellites and also for other astronomical bodies and environments. The total number of atmospheric particle (AP) is an important datum for planetary science and geoscience. Estimating entire AP number is also a familiar question in general physics. With standard atmosphere model, considering the number difference of AP caused by rough and uneven in the earth surface below, the sum of dry clean atmosphere particle is 1.06962×1044. So the whole number of AP including water vapor is 1.0740×1044. The rough estimation for the total number of AP on other planets (or satellites) in condensed state is also discussed on the base of it.  相似文献

Projective Unified Field Theory of the author leads to a cosmology without big bang. Since details have been published in a series of papers, the aim of this article is to inform about the theoretical and numerical results with respect to cosmology and astrophysics: age of the universe, Hubble factor, deceleration parameter, equation of motion of a testparticle, motion of a body around a gravitative central body, Einstein effects, time dependence of the "effective gravitational constant" etc. Further, this theory predicts heat production by the cosmological expansion in a moving body. Numerical results are presented for orbiting stars, planets, moons, satellites and terrestrial bodies.  相似文献

Interplanetary space is a cosmic laboratory for surface scientists. Energetic photons, ions and electrons from the solar wind, together with galactic and extragalactic cosmic rays, constantly bombard surfaces of planets, planetary satellites, dust particles, comets and asteroids. Many of these bodies exist in ultrahigh vacuum environments, so that direct particle–surface collisions dominate the interactions. In this article, we discuss the origins of the very tenuous planetary atmospheres observed on a number of bodies, space weathering of the surface of asteroids and comets, and magnetospheric processing of the surfaces of Jupiter's icy satellites. We emphasize non-thermal processes and the important relationships between surface composition and the gas phase species observed. We also discuss what laboratory and computational modeling should be done to support the current and future space missions––e.g. the Genesis mission to recover solar wind particles, the Cassini mission to probe Saturn, the Europa Lander mission to explore the subsurface ocean hypothesis, and the Pluto/Kuiper Express to sample the outer reaches of the solar system.  相似文献

Aurora, commonly seen in the polar sky, is a ubiquitous phenomenon occurring on Earth and other solar system planets. The colorful emissions are caused by electron beams hitting the upper atmosphere, after being accelerated by quasistatic electric fields at 1-2 R(E) altitudes, or by wave electric fields. Although aurora was studied by many past satellite missions, Cluster is the first to explore the auroral acceleration region with multiprobes. Here, Cluster data are used to determine the acceleration potential above the aurora and to address its stability in space and time. The derived potential comprises two upper, broad U-shaped potentials and a narrower S-shaped potential below, and is stable on a 5 min time scale. The scale size of the electric field relative to that of the current is shown to depend strongly on altitude within the acceleration region. To reveal these features was possible only by combining data from the two satellites.  相似文献

In this paper a parameter was used, viz., the average difference between the heliocentric longitudes (ADL) of the planets Venus, Earth, and Jupiter. For the minimum ADL (the planets are in conjunction), as well as at the minimum deviation of the planets from a line passing through them and the Sun at the location of the planets on opposite sides from the Sun, an index was composed that uniquely describes the 11-year cycle of solar activity.  相似文献

This paper suggests a set of general criteria for classifying celestial bodies that are elements of planetary systems. The highly structured modal properties of planetary gears having diametrically opposed planets and an elastic ring gear are illustrated and mathematically proved in this work. Two types of modes are found: rotational and translational modes. The properties of each mode type are given mathematically. A rule for how the modes of planetary gears having equally spaced planets evolve as the planets deviate to diametrically opposed is presented and discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, using the parameter??the average difference between the heliocentric longitudes of the planets Venus, Earth and Jupiter??the strong link found 22-year and 11-year cycles of solar activity with the lowest values of the parameter. The envelope curve of the minimum values of this parameter is well described as the conjunctions of the three planets, when they are almost in a straight line from the sun, which causes the maximum of solar activity, and the conjunctions in the larger longitudinal sector (25?C30 degrees), which occur much more frequently and are accompanied by different combinations of planets on the opposite side of the Sun, which also cause the maximum of solar activity. Location of these planets on opposite sides of the Sun in various combinations is very well compatible with the parameter used.  相似文献

It has been shown previously that the Bode numbers and measured velocity ratios of the planets are accurately predicted by the eigenvalues of the Euler-Lagrange equations resulting from the variation of the free energy of the generic plasma that formed the Sun and planets. This theory is reviewed and extended to show that the equations make accurate predictions for all the major planets out to and including Pluto. The semimajor axes and velocity ratios of Pluto and Neptune are predicted exactly. The Bode numbers are shown to correspond to the roots of the first-order Bessel functions. The extrema of the roots of the zeroth-order Bessel function predict the ratios of the measured planetary velocities almost without error for the outer planets. Both sets of roots correspond to the same eigenvalue solution of the force-free equation. The eigenvalues are set by the initial energy input to the plasma nebula. Both the Titius-Bode series and Kepler's harmonic law are predicted by the relaxed state solution of the free-energy equation for the generic plasma that formed the Sun and planets. Newton's law of gravitation is not used in the calculations. The solution makes exact predictions for the outer planets where the Titius Bode series fails completely  相似文献

Brief information is given on the magnetospheres of the planets in the solar system that have intrinsic magnetic fields: Mercury, Earth, Jupiter, and Saturn. A universal model is constructed for the magnetosphere of a planet. Modifications of this model that are applied to individual planets are considered. The proposed models describe the basic physical processes that are responsible for the structure and dynamics of the magnetosphere. The numerical results of the simulations are compared with the direct measurements of magnetic fields and charged particle fluxes in the vicinity of the planets obtained in spacecraft (SC) missions.  相似文献

Each planet in the Solar System is represented as a mechanically spherical cold body, possibly in rotation. It is seen that, on this basis, the properties of the planets can be understood within the already established principles of the physics of matter under high pressures. Internal structures of the planets can be deduced which are consistent with observed data, although no unique detailed structural model can be isolated at this stage.  相似文献

Many properties of planets such as their interior structure and thermal evolution depend on the high-pressure properties of their constituent materials. This paper reviews how crystal structure prediction methodology can help shed light on the transformations materials undergo at the extreme conditions inside planets. The discussion focuses on three areas:(i) the propensity of iron to form compounds with volatile elements at planetary core conditions(important to understand the chemical makeup of Earth's inner core),(ii) the chemistry of mixtures of planetary ices(relevant for the mantle regions of giant icy planets), and(iii) examples of mantle minerals. In all cases the abilities and current limitations of crystal structure prediction are discussed across a range of example studies.  相似文献

Retired geosynchronous (GEO) communication satellites affect the GEO orbit environment in outer space. According to the new concept of modern design, the authors propose creatively a method of reusing retired GEO communication satellites, through adjusting retired GEO satellites to slightly inclined orbit geosynchronous (SIGSO) satellites. After these retired satellites are applied to the navigation and communication system, integrity of navigation system and positioning accuracy of the system is improved. Meanwhile, some transponders on these retired satellites can be used to establish a new satellite communication service, and initiate the study and utilization of the multi-life cycle for retired satellites. Experimental results show that this project has significant social value and can make remarkable economic benefit. This paper briefly introduces the maneuverable feature of the slightly inclined geosynchronous orbit (SIGSO) satellites under a new control model degraded from the geosynchronous orbit (GEO) communication satellites which will retire as most of the fuel in these satellites has been consumed. Basing on the transmitting Chinese Area Positioning System (CAPS), the authors, by analyses, indicate that such satellites can make an improvement to CAPS constellation configuration, especially to the PDOP value from simulation. The results show that the use of SIGSO satellites can (1) actualize three-dimensional (3D) navigation and positioning compared with the situation, which, only using GEO satellites, cannot be carried out, and improve navigation and positioning accuracy to some extent; (2) reuse the communication services of these satellites for more years, and GEO communication satellites will be retired at a later time and delay their time to become space debris and reduce their pollution of the space environment, so that valuable space resources are maximally used. As for the use of these satellites in the transmitting positioning system, the authors present some views and suggestions in this work.
