In this article we discuss some aspects of operational Tau Method on delay differential equations and then we apply this method on the differential delay equation defined byw(u) = 1/u for 1 ≤u ≤ 2 and(uw(u))′ = w(u-1) foru ≥ 2, which was introduced by Buchstab. As Khajah et al.[l] applied the Recursive Tau Method on this problem, they had to apply that Method under theMathematica software to get reasonable accuracy. We present very good results obtained just by applying the Operational Tau Method using a Fortran code. The results show that we can obtain as much accuracy as is allowed by the Fortran compiler and the machine-limitations. The easy applications and reported results concerning the Operational Tau are again confirming the numerical capabilities of this Method to handle problems in different applications.  相似文献

The category D{\mathcal{D}} of finite directed graphs is Cartesian closed, hence it has a product and exponential objects. For a fixed K, let KDK^{\mathcal{D}} be the class of all directed graphs of the form K G , preordered by the existence of homomorphisms, and factored by homomorphic equivalence. It has long been known that KDK^{\mathcal{D}} is always a Boolean lattice. In this paper we prove that for any complete graph K n with n ≥ 3, KnDK_n^{\mathcal{D}} is dense, hence up to isomorphism it is the unique countable dense Boolean lattice. In graph theory, the structure of KnDK_n^{\mathcal{D}} is connected to the conjecture of Hedetniemi on the chromatic number of a categorical product of graphs.  相似文献

The Hamiltonian of a system of three quantum mechanical particles moving on the three-dimensional lattice and interacting via zero-range attractive potentials is considered. For the two-particle energy operator h(k), with the two-particle quasi-momentum, the existence of a unique positive eigenvalue below the bottom of the continuous spectrum of h(k) for k 0 is proven, provided that h(0) has a zero energy resonance. The location of the essential and discrete spectra of the three-particle discrete Schrödinger operator H(K), being the three-particle quasi-momentum, is studied. The existence of infinitely many eigenvalues of H(0) is proven. It is found that for the number N(0, z) of eigenvalues of H(0) lying below the following limit exists with Moreover, for all sufficiently small nonzero values of the three-particle quasi-momentum K the finiteness of the number of eigenvalues of H(K) below the essential spectrum is established and the asymptotics for the number N(K, 0) of eigenvalues lying below zero is given. In this paper an infinite-dimensional approach to model energy forward markets is introduced. Similar to the Heath–Jarrow–Morton framework in interest-rate modelling, a first-order hyperbolic stochastic partial differential equation models the dynamics of the forward price curves. These equations are analysed, and in particular regularity and no-arbitrage conditions in the general situation of stochastic partial differential equations driven by an infinite-dimensional martingale process are studied. Both arithmetic and geometric forward price dynamics are studied, as well as accounting for the delivery period of electricity forward contracts. A stable and convergent numerical approximation in the form of a finite element method for hyperbolic stochastic partial differential equations is introduced and applied to some examples with relevance to energy markets.  相似文献

We extend Cayley’s and Holland’s representation theorems to idempotent semirings and residuated lattices, and provide both functional and relational versions. Our analysis allows for extensions of the results to situations where conditions are imposed on the order relation of the representing structures. Moreover, we give a new proof of the finite embeddability property for the variety of integral residuated lattices and many of its subvarieties.  相似文献

The Voronovskaya theorem which is one of the most important pointwise convergence results in the theory of approximation by linear positive operators (l.p.o) is considered in quantitative form. Most of the results presented in this paper mainly depend on the Taylor’s formula for the functions belonging to weighted spaces. We first obtain an estimate for the remainder of Taylor’s formula and by this estimate we give the Voronovskaya theorem in quantitative form for a class of sequences of l.p.o. The Grüss type approximation theorem and the Grüss-Voronovskaya-type theorem in quantitative form are obtained as well. We also give the Voronovskaya type results for the difference of l.p.o acting on weighted spaces. All results are also given for well-known operators, Szasz-Mirakyan and Baskakov operators as illustrative examples. Our results being Voronovskaya-type either describe the rate of pointwise convergence or present the error of approximation simultaneously.  相似文献

We shall give a uniform, short and essentially elementary proof of the Weyl law for cusp forms on congruence quotients of . A closed compactly supported differential form E (ψ) on S is defined by a pseudo-Eisenstein series attached to ψ. Its degree is the degree of ψ shifted by the codimension of e[P] in S. Summary We examine the notion of free independence according to Voiculescu. This form of independence is used for defining free white noise or process with stationary and freely independent increments. We prove a general limit theorem giving the combinatorics of infinitely freely divisible states and thus of free white noises with the help of admissible partitions. Inside the scientific world it is not always understood that the mood of mathematics, which is a product and a part of culture, can change with time. This is partly why many have been surprised by the coming of the so‐called new mathematics.

In the truly creative mathematical mind two opposite tendencies coexist: the logical and the imaginative. Apparently it seems that new mathematics can be reduced to a purely logical machinery. In fact it contains as much imaginative contributions as classical mathematics. But it is difficult to show simultaneously the logical sequence of propositions and the clumsy progression of research itself. Mathematical exposition does not always follow the ‘ most natural slopes’ of the mind. Unfamiliar presentations often give an impression of ‘ abstraction ‘, more familiar ones an impression of concreteness ‘.

So it appears that difficulties with new mathematics are mostly of psychological origin. Misuses of it can easily raise up intolerance reactions and emotional blocks. Perhaps insisting upon the fact that, here as elsewhere, it is important to be able to guess, to realize that intuition and imagination are essential, could help to make new mathematics better understood, more useful and more able to be considered as a unifing element among sciences.  相似文献

We investigate the hot–spots property for the survival time probability of Brownian motion with killing and reflection in planar convex domains whose boundary consists of two curves, one of which is an arc of a circle, intersecting at acute angles.
