A model of a superradiant laser comprising of N three-level systems driven by two pumping lasers is considered in semiclassical approximation. Steady-state equations for density matrix elements are solved both analytically and numerically. Various properties of generated light are investigated. It is found that such a laser can exhibit both superradiance, when the intensity scales as N(2), and subradiance when the intensity does not depend on N. The phase of the laser field is locked to the relative phase of the pumping lasers.  相似文献

We review lasing in homogeneously broadened coherently driven three-level systems in the framework of semiclassical density matrix formalism and using a nonlinear dynamics point of view. We discuss the following features of these systems: (i) self-pulsing lasing without inversion near the first lasing threshold, (ii) giant pulse lasing based on the population inversion without lasing phenomenon, and (iii) the enlargement of the cavity detuning range where lasing without inversion occurs by using broad-area cavities.  相似文献

A dressed-state study of lasing without population inversion from a three-level atom interacting with a bichromatic laser field in the ladder configuration is being formulated. The system is allowed to be dressed by both laser-field photons (double dressing). The temporal behavior of the system under consideration is being explored numerically. Although the use of dressed-basis density matrix equations introduces major complexity into the equations, this procedure has crucial importance to the understanding of the atomic spectrum and the underlying physics of the processes involved. The system is found to possess a gain without population inversion, as well as a regular gain with inversion for various transitions, both in the transient and steady-state regimes. Enhancement of the refractive index accompanied by vanishingly small absorption was also found. The frequency response of various transitions is explored via numerical Fourier analysis. Some transitions are found to exhibit a dispersion-like line shape, clear evidence of a quantum-coherent interference effect. The spectrum consists of two distinct quintets centered about the coupling and probe-laser frequencies. The spectral features consisting of each quintet are located symmetrically (at resonance conditions only) around the line center at positions shifted from the center by the generalized Rabi and double Rabi frequencies.  相似文献

We consider one of the “paradoxical” effects of the theory of radiation and matter interaction: stimulated emission in the absence of inversion. The theory of simultaneous inversionless emission of two high-frequency waves due to their parametric interaction with ensemble of free electrons in magnetic field is developed. The analytical investigation and numerical simulation of the most interesting scheme of this two-photon interaction are presented. New effects are revealed; namely they are self-induced parametric instability of sufficiently strong waves and enhanced parametric instability in sufficiently dense electron medium.  相似文献

A dressed-state study of lasing without population inversion from a three level atom interacting with a bi-chromatic laser field, in the ladder configuration, is formulated. We allow the atomic system to be dressed by both laser filed photons (double dressing). The evolution of the system under consideration is being explored both analytically and numerically, within the transient regime. Time dependent approximate analytic solutions for dressed-state populations and coherences are derived, within the so called “secular approximation,” under resonant conditions. We also present time dependent numerical solutions for population and coherences in the off-resonance regime. A spectral analysis is also performed revealing the structure of various dressed states transitions. These are shown to be composed of quintets centered about the frequencies of the coupling and probe laser fields and having sidebands located symmetrically at positions shifted from line center at the Rabi and double Rabi frequencies.  相似文献

以三能级V型系统为例研究修饰态布居的选择性激发对无反转激光增益的作用. 当非 相干驱动场的频谱宽度远小于驱动场产生的修饰态能级的间距时,非相干驱动场只将一个修 饰态的布居抽运至激发态. 借助原子的衰减通道,系统中形成单向布居转移通道,从而建立 修饰态布居的选择性激发. 利用修饰态布居的选择性激发,可以摆脱裸态共振无反转激光的 三个限制: (1) 不再要求辅助的低频驱动跃迁比高频激光跃迁具有更高的衰减速率;(2) 显 著降低非相干激发速率的阈值;(3) 无反转激光的线性增益不再反比于相干驱动场的强 关键词: 修饰态布居的选择性激发 无反转激光增益 原子衰减速率 非相干激发阈值速率  相似文献

In this paper, we have investigated amplification without inversion (AWI) in a Y-type four-level atomic system. We have considered the effect of control fields’ amplitude, their phases and detuning between atomic transition and applied fields, on imaginary part of optical susceptibility. It has been shown that, with proper setting of control fields’ amplitude, while setting phases to zero, we can obtain gain and with proper setting of phase difference of control and probe fields; we can obtain considerable gain in resonant wavelength.  相似文献

根据地声参数对不同声场物理量影响不同,提出了一种利用简正波频散特征结合声传播损失反演地声参数的联合反演方法。首先,考虑到简正波的频散特性(群速度)对海底的密度和声速较为敏感,而对海底吸收系数不敏感,利用自适应时频分析方法,获得不同频率不同号数简正波的到达时间差,以此作为代价函数,采用全局优化算法,反演出海底密度和海底声速的分层结构,并用概率统计的方法评价反演结果的有效性。反演出海底密度和声速后,利用实验船辐射噪声得到随距离连续的声传播损失来反演出海底吸收系数。最后,把反演的参数很好的用于声源匹配定位验证了反演结果的有效性。  相似文献

A hybrid inversion scheme of geoacoustic parameters, which combines dispersion characteristics of normal modes with transmission loss, has been proposed based on the facts that different parameters have different effects on sound field. First, considering the dispersion characteristics of normal modes were sensitive to the density and the sound speed of seabottom, and not sensitive to the seabottom attenuation coefficient, the group time delays of different modes and different frequencies were acquired through adaptive optimal kernel time-frequency representation, then the group time delays were taken as the cost function, and using a global optimal algorithm, the seabottom density and the profile of seabottom sound speed were deduced. Successively, the validity of inversion results was evaluated by the a posteriori probability. Last, the attenuation coefficient of sediment is inverted using the transmission loss data recorded from the ship radiation noise. The validity of the total inversion results has been evaluated by making use of the matched field processing source localization.  相似文献

The effects of vacuum-induced coherence (VIC) on the properties of the absorption and gain of the probe field in an equispaced three-level ladder atomic system are investigated. We investigate, using a nonlinear theory of laser physics, for a simple three-level atomic system the steady-state intensity behavior due to the effects of quantum coherence and decoherence. We find that a change from a noninversion laser to an inversion laser action can occur as the Rabi frequency of the driving field increases. The steady-state intensity of the laser field can arrive at a maximal value for a certain Rabi frequency of the driving field. We also find that the linear gain and the laser intensity tend to decrease for the linewidth of the driving field.  相似文献

We consider a scheme of two noncollinear wigglers with an intermediate magnetic drift region, constituting a free-electron laser without inversion (FELWI). Two mechanisms of phase shifts in the drift region between the wigglers owing to a series of magnetic lenses can give rise to FELWI: velocity- and angle-dependent shifts. An appropriate combination of these shifts is shown to provide the conditions for amplification without inversion. The phase shifts optimizing the gain are found. The response of a three-level atomic system driven by a resonant coherent field acting on a transition near the photonic band-edge of a photonic band-gap material as well as the general case of a frequency-dependent reservoir is studied. The strong frequency dependence of the radiation mode spectral density on the scale of the driving field Rabi frequency is shown to lead to essential and controllable changes in the refractive index, as well as to effects of electromagnetically induced transparency and lasing without inversion. Such an effective dynamic control of the atomic response enables for applications in nonlinear optics and optical computing and communications.  相似文献

Driven by one upper level coupling field, a three-level V-type atomic system with a pair of upper levels is studied. With one strong coupling field and one weak probe field, it is found that, due to the effects of the upper level coupling field, the quantum coherence between the two upper levels can be induced, and the absorption of the probing field is very sensitive to the relative phase of the probe, the pumping and the upper level coupling fields. With proper parameters, lasing without inversion (LWI) can be realized.  相似文献

In the present work, we show that the problem of Λ-type three level systems and lasing without inversion can be understood in terms of evolution of vectors. The time evolutions of these vectors have been worked out using the transition probabilities and detuning. One of the salient features of the work is that Glauber-Sudershan’s p-function can be visualized with this approach. We also present a comparative study between different vector models representing three level Λ-type lasers.  相似文献
