Partial cancellation of modules

We investigate partial cancellation of modules and show that if an ideal I of an exchange ring R has stable range one, then A⊕B≌A⊕C implies B≌C for all A∈FP (I). The converse is true when R is a regular ring. For an ideal I of a regular ring, we also show that I has stable range one if and only if perspectivity is transitive in L(A) for all A∈ FP (I). These give nontrivial generalizations for unit-regularity. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

Separative cancellation for projective modules over exchange rings

A separative ring is one whose finitely generated projective modules satisfy the propertyA⊕A⋟A⊕B⋟B⊕B⇒A⋟B. This condition is shown to provide a key to a number of outstanding cancellation problems for finitely generated projective modules over exchange rings. It is shown that the class of separative exchange rings is very broad, and, notably, closed under extensions of ideals by factor rings. That is, if an exchange ringR has an idealI withI andR/I both separative, thenR is separative. Genus and cancellation

In [14] we established a relationship between genus and localization of finitely generated torsion-free abelian by finite groups aud grnus and localization integral representation theory. In this paper we strrcly the consequences of this relationship. We prove results about the genus of groups which are analogues to results in integral representaion theory. In particular we prove non-cancellation phenomena for finitely generated groups with finite commutator subgroups.     

Crossed modules and doi-hopf modules

We prove that crossed modules (or Yetter-Drinfel’d modules) are special cases of Doi’s unified Hopf modules. The category of crossedH-modules is therefore a Grothendieck category (if we work over a field), and the Drinfel’d double appears as a type of generalized smash product. On co-isosimple modules and co-isoradical of modules

Abstract

In this paper we study “co-isosimple” modules, that is, those modules which are isomorphic to all of its non-zero quotients modules. This allows us to define and study “isomaximal” submodules, “isomax” modules and the “co-isoradical” of a module. We study some of its basic properties and we give a characterization of left V-ring using these concepts.
