Abstract

Reflection and scattering of waves from plane and statistically rough interfaces between nonlinear media are studied theoretically. New hysteresis-type dependences of the reflection and transmission coefficients on the amplitude of the incident wave and on the angle of incidence are predicted. Scattering diagrams for diffusely reflected and transmitted fields are calculated. It is found that when the dielectric constant is a steep function of the incident amplitude, nonlinearity suppresses the Bragg resonant scattering mechanism. Smooth roughness of the boundary is shown to enhance the penetration of evanescent waves into nonlinear media.  相似文献

Part IV of the study continues the treatment of the theory of formation of laser beams with smooth spatial distribution, and of their conservation as they are transported in linear and nonlinear media. An exact solution is obtained for the problem of development of a small perturbation with an arbitrary amplitudephase distribution against the background of a plane wave with cubic nonlinearity. Self-consistent (waveguide) solutions of the nonlinear parabolic equation are obtained. The solutions demonstrate the effectiveness of suppression of small-scale self-focusing of diverging beams. 本文利用逐级近似法分析了大振幅平面声波正投射在分割二种不同介质的界面上时,声波在界面上发生反射和透射的特性.计算的结果表明在计及二级近似的情况下,二级反射波和透射波除有与一级反射系数和一级透射系数平方成正比的部分外,还有用二级反射系数和二级透射系数描述的反射波和透射波,这些波同二级入射波有一定的相移,相移的大小由二种介质的声学参数和非线性参数规定.本文所获得的结果可以用来阐明已在实验上取得的提高参量阵转换效率的理论依据.  相似文献

在流体或固体介质中,微扰法求解非线性声波的反射和折射问题时,谐波场通常满足非齐次波动方程。应用分离变量法及拉格朗日变动参数法求它的特解,出现了待定的分离常数,给这类非线性声学边值问题带来困难。本文结果表明,为不使定解问题出现佯僇,其独立的特解只有两类,一类是沿边界法线方向有积累效应的解,另一类则是沿平行边界面方向上有积累效应的解,由定解条件来决定究竟选用哪一类解。应用这个结果研究了平面边界的反射和折射谐波,该理论对非线性声学中的平面边值问题有普遍的应用意义。  相似文献

在历史上,用微扰法求解非线性驻波是不成功的。本文对此进行了分析,认为微扰法给出的一次解是基本解,决定了驻波的基本波形。二次以上的解是由于非线性对波形的影响,使驻波波形上各点随时间运动稍加变动,因此对二次以上的微量只应保留其时间微商。这样所得解不但是稳定的,并且与根据波动方程的严格解基本相同。 关键词:  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the new model of nonlinear contacting media based on nonlinear Schrodinger equation with point potential and term, which is depended stepwise on field amplitude. Such a model theoretically describes a change in properties of the boundary regions along the interface between a Kerr-type crystal with cubic nonlinearity and a nonlinear medium characterized by abruptly change in dielectric constant depending on field amplitude. The short-range local interaction between wave and interface is taken into account by point potential in nonlinear Schrodinger equation. We obtain two new types of localized states characterized by composite structure consisting of three parts of the field distributions. We find exact and approximate solutions of dispersion equations. We described new properties of the spectrum of localized states arising as a result of the interaction of the wave with the interface and the presence of threshold field of the switching between the medium constants. All results are obtained in an analytical form. The proposed theory can be used to describe the propagation features of intense light beams localized along media interfaces in nonlinear optics, and to describe Bose-Einstein condensates with cubic nonlinearity.  相似文献

A weakly nonlinear theory of wave propagation in two superposed dielectric fluids in the presence of a horizontal electric field is investigated using the multiple scales method in (2 + 1)-dimensions. The equation governing the evolution of the amplitude of the progressive waves is obtained in the form of a two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We convert this equation for the evolution of wave packets in (2 + 1)-dimensions, using the function transformation method, into an exponentional and a Sinh-Gordon equation, and obtain classes of soliton solutions for both the elliptic and hyperbolic cases. The phenomenon of nonlinear focusing or collapse is also studied. We show that the collapse is direction-dependent, and is more pronounced at critical wavenumbers, and dielectric constant ratio as well as the density ratio. The applied electric field was found to enhance the collapsing for critical values of these parameters. The modulational instability for the corresponding one-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation is discussed for both the travelling and standing waves cases. It is shown, for travelling waves, that the governing evolution equation admits solitary wave solutions with variable wave amplitude and speed. 柱面电磁波在各种非均匀非线性介质中的传播问题具有非常重要的研究价值.对描述该问题的柱面非线性麦克斯韦方程组进行精确求解,则是最近几年新兴的研究热点.但由于非线性偏微分方程组的极端复杂性,针对任意初边值条件的精确求解在客观上具有极高的难度,已有工作仅解决了柱面电磁波在指数非线性因子的非色散介质中的传播情况.因此,针对更为确定的物理场景,寻求能够精确描述其中更为广泛的物理性质的解,是一种更为有效的处理方法.本文讨论了具有任意非线性因子与幂律非均匀因子的非色散介质中柱面麦克斯韦方程组的行波精确解,理论分析表明这种情况下柱面电磁波的电场分量E已不存在通常形如E=g(r-kt)的平面行波解;继而通过适当的变量替换与求解相应的非线性常微分方程,给出电场分量E=g(lnr-kt)形式的广义行波解,并以例子展示所得到的解中蕴含的类似于自陡效应的物理现象.  相似文献

In this Letter, we investigate the perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger's equation (NLSE) with Kerr law nonlinearity. All explicit expressions of the bounded traveling wave solutions for the equation are obtained by using the bifurcation method and qualitative theory of dynamical systems. These solutions contain bell-shaped solitary wave solutions, kink-shaped solitary wave solutions and Jacobi elliptic function periodic solutions. Moreover, we point out the region which these periodic wave solutions lie in. We present the relation between the bounded traveling wave solution and the energy level h. We find that these periodic wave solutions tend to the corresponding solitary wave solutions as h increases or decreases. Finally, for some special selections of the energy level h, it is shown that the exact periodic solutions evolute into solitary wave solution.  相似文献

A new kind of non-polynomial nonlinearity is introduced in the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) and the conditions are determined for which it admits solitary wave solutions. The study is done for two cases: one in which the nonlinear interaction is of the non-polynomial form and second in which cubic nonlinearity is also included along with the radical nonlinearity. Dark and bright solitary waves solutions are obtained in the respective cases. Further, later case is extended to conditions for which corresponding equation reduces to driven quadratic-cubic NLSE possessing cnoidal solutions with plane wave phase, which reduces to bright soliton for a certain parameter.  相似文献

The deformation mapping method is applied to solve a system of (2+1)-dimensional Boussinesq equations. Many types of explicit and exact travelling plane wave solutions, which contain solitary wave solutions,periodic wave solutions,Jacobian elliptic function solutions and others exact solutions, are obtained by a simple algebraic transformation relation between the (2+1)-dimensional Boussinesq equation and the cubic nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation.  相似文献

TE-polarized electromagnetic waves guided by a three-layer structure consisting of a film surrounded by semi-infinite media (all media are characterized by a Kerrlike dielectric function) are investigated by expressing the solution of the field equations in terms of Weierstrass' elliptic functions. Evaluation leads to a universal dispersion relation and its solutions and a universal expression for the power flow. Numerical results are presented for the effective wave number as a function of the intensity of the electric field at the lower surface of the nonlinear film, for various profiles of the field intensity, and for the power flow as a function of the effective wave number.  相似文献

Floquet-Bloch waves in a bound one-dimensional photonic crystal are considered. It is shown that a single Floquet-Bloch wave can be excited in a one-dimensional photonic crystal located between two homogeneous media. An exact solution of the wave equation corresponding to this case is represented in the form of a set of heterogeneous waves. For the case of incidence of the plane wave from a homogeneous medium on a bounded one-dimensional photonic crystal, the functions for the reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained based on the exact solution of the wave equation. It is shown that the transmission function for the one-dimensional photonic crystal has a form similar to that for the traditional Fabri-Perot interferometer and is determined by the interference of the Floquet-Bloch waves excited in the crystal. The evolution of the amplitude profile of the decaying Floquet-Bloch waves and the reflection spectrum of the bounded one-dimensional photonic crystal are considered in the first-order forbidden band.  相似文献

We have calculated the transmission and reflection coefficients for a surface polariton that is incident normally on the interface between two different surface active dielectric media characterized by real, scalar, frequency dependent dielectric functions. Numerical solutions are obtained by matching the boundary conditions for the electromagnetic fields at the interface between the media and between each medium and the vacuum above it. The energy carried away by the vacuum modes is also calculated.  相似文献

In this paper, we present solutions for the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation with spatially inhomogeneous nonlinearities describing propagation of light in nonlinear media, under two sets of transverse modulation forms of inhomogeneous nonlinearity. The bright soliton solution and Gaussian solution have been obtained for one set of inhomogeneous nonlinearity modulation. For the other, bright soliton solution, black soliton solution and the train solution have been presented. Stability of the solutions has been determined by exact soliton solutions under certain conditions.  相似文献

Most of the important aspects of soliton propagation through optical fibers for transcontinental and transoceanic long distances can best be described using the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Optical solitons are electromagnetic waves that span in nonlinear dispersive media and permit the stress and intensity to stay unaltered as a result of the delicate balance between dispersion and nonlinearity effects. However, this study exploited the Jacobi elliptic method and obtained different soliton solutions of the decoupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation with ease. Discussions about the obtained solutions were made with the aid of some 3D graphs.  相似文献

A solution of the problem of X-ray specular reflection from a statistically rough surface is presented. It is based on using the Green function formalism. The Kirchhoff formula is used to describe the transmission of the wave field through a rough interface. Generally, microscopically exact expressions for the coefficients of transmission through a rough surface and reflection from it are obtained by taking multiple scattering effects into account. Averaging of the obtained expressions over possible realizations of random roughness of the interface between media allows to obtain rigorous expressions for specular reflection and transmission coefficients. The behavior of exact solutions in the limiting case of infinite correlation lengths is studied. It is shown that, in this case, the obtained solution corresponds to the Debye-Waller normalization. Expressions for the reflection and transmission coefficients making it possible to carry out numerical calculations are obtained in the Bourret approximation of multiple-scattering theory.  相似文献

To solve exactly the problem of plane EM wave interaction with multilayer nonlinear structures a non-traditional theoretical method is applied. Wave equation's solution in each layer of a structure is presented in the special form of a single expression. This form of field presentation does not require the fulfillment of superposition principle, contrary to the traditional approach. Multilayer structures of threefold quarter-wavelength bilayers with alternate linear and nonlinear indices are investigated. Multistable dependences of reflection coefficients on incident electric field amplitude are obtained for negative and positive nonlinearity. The results of investigation not only permits to deeply understand the phenomena of intense electromagnetic wave interaction with multilayer structures but also will be very useful for elaboration of nonlinear devices.  相似文献

The travelling wave solutions to the nonlinear partial differential equation of 6th order are obtained for a solid having two different spatial scales introduced in the microstructure. The slaving principle method is applied, and the exact explicit solution is found in terms of the doubly periodic Weierstrass elliptic function for the corresponding ODE. Several particular cases are discussed for various parameter values, e.g., the solitary “mexican hat” pulse is found with polarity, depending on microstructure parameters.  相似文献
