Dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have received much attention in recent years owing to their efficient conversion of sunlight to electricity. DSSCs became successful alternatives to silicon photovoltaic devices by virtue of their low fabrication costs and easy preparation methods. In DSSCs the dye plays the key role. This review summarizes the applications of osmium sensitizers in DSSCs. We also briefly discussed their synthesis and the effect of various electrolyte systems on device efficiencies. 相似文献

A new type of carbene‐based ruthenium sensitizer, CB104, with a highly conjugated ancillary ligand, diphenylvinylthiophene‐substituted benzimidazolepyridine, was designed and developed for dye‐sensitized solar cell applications. The influence of the thiophene antenna on the performance of the cell anchored with CB104 was investigated. Compared with the dye CBTR, the conjugated thiophene in the ancillary ligand of CB104 enhanced the molar extinction coefficient of the intraligand π–π* transition and the intensity of the lower energy metal‐to‐ligand charge‐transfer band. However, the incident photon‐to‐current conversion efficiency spectrum of the cell anchored with CB104 (0.15 mM ) showed a maximum of 63 % at 420 nm. The cell sensitized with the dye CB104 attained a power conversion efficiency of 7.30 %, which was lower than that of the cell with nonconjugated sensitizer CBTR (8.92 %) under the same fabrication conditions. The variation in the performance of these two dyes demonstrated that elongating the conjugated light‐harvesting antenna resulted in the reduction of short‐circuit photocurrent density, which might have been due to the aggregation of dye molecules. In the presence of a coabsorbate, chenodeoxycholic acid, the CB104‐sensitized cell exhibited an enhanced photocurrent density and achieved a photovoltaic efficiency of 8.36 %. 相似文献

Panchromatic RuII sensitizers TF‐30–TF‐33 bearing a new class of 6‐quinolin‐8‐yl‐2,2′‐bipyridine anchor were synthesized and tested under AM1.5 G simulated solar irradiation. Their increased π conjugation relative to that of the traditional 2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine‐based anchor led to a remarkable improvement in absorptivity across the whole UV–Vis–NIR spectral regime. Furthermore, the introduction of a bulky tert‐butyl substituent on the quinolinyl fragment not only led to an increase in the JSC value owing to the suppression of dye aggregation, but remarkably also resulted in no loss in VOC in comparison with the reference sensitizer containing a tricarboxyterpyridine anchor. The champion sensitizer in DSC devices was found to be TF‐32 with a performance of JSC=19.2 mA cm?2, VOC=740 mV, FF=0.72, and η=10.19 %. This 6‐quinolin‐8‐yl‐2,2′‐bipyridine anchor thus serves as a prototype for the next generation of RuII sensitizers with any tridentate ancillary. 相似文献

A series of new push–pull organic dyes ( BT‐I – VI ), incorporating electron‐withdrawing bithiazole with a thiophene, furan, benzene, or cyano moiety, as π spacer have been synthesized, characterized, and used as the sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In comparison with the model compound T1 , these dyes containing a thiophene moiety between triphenylamine and bithiazole display enhanced spectral responses in the red portion of the solar spectrum. Electrochemical measurement data indicate that the HOMO and LUMO energy levels can be tuned by introducing different π spacers between the bithiazole moiety and cyanoacrylic acid acceptor. The incorporation of bithiazole substituted with two hexyl groups is highly beneficial to prevent close π–π aggregation, thus favorably suppressing charge recombination and intermolecular interaction. The overall conversion efficiencies of DSSCs based on bithiazole dyes are in the range of 3.58 to 7.51 %, in which BT‐I ‐based DSSCs showed the best photovoltaic performance: a maximum monochromatic incident photon‐to‐current conversion efficiency (IPCE) of 81.1 %, a short‐circuit photocurrent density (Jsc) of 15.69 mA cm?2, an open‐circuit photovoltage (Voc) of 778 mV, and a fill factor (ff) of 0.61, which correspond to an overall conversion efficiency of 7.51 % under standard global AM 1.5 solar light conditions. Most importantly, long‐term stability of the BT‐I – III ‐based DSSCs with ionic‐liquid electrolytes under 1000 h of light soaking was demonstrated and BT‐II with a furan moiety exhibited better photovoltaic performance of up to 5.75 % power conversion efficiency. 相似文献

This review focuses on our work on metal‐free sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Sensitizers based on D?A′?π?A architecture (D is a donor, A is an acceptor, A′ is an electron‐deficient entity) exhibit better light harvesting than D?π?A‐type sensitizers. However, appropriate molecular design is needed to avoid excessive aggregation of negative charge at the electron‐deficient entity upon photoexcitation. Rigidified aromatics, including aromatic segments comprising fused electron‐excessive and ‐deficient units in the spacer, allow effective electronic communication, and good photoinduced charge transfer leads to excellent cell performance. Sensitizers with two anchors/acceptors, D(–π–A)2, can more efficiently harvest light, inject electrons, and suppress dark current compared with congeners with a single anchor. Appropriate incorporation of heteroaromatic units in the spacer is beneficial to DSSC performance. High‐performance, aqueous‐based DSSCs can be achieved with a dual redox couple comprising imidazolium iodide and 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidin‐N‐oxyl, and/or using dyes of improved wettability through the incorporation of a triethylene oxide methyl ether chain.

A tropolone group has been employed for the first time as an anchoring group for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The DSSC based on a porphyrin, YD2‐o‐C8T, with a tropolone moiety exhibited a power‐conversion efficiency of 7.7 %, which is only slightly lower than that observed for a reference porphyrin, YD2‐o‐C8 , with a conventional carboxylic group. More importantly, YD2‐o‐C8T was found to be superior to YD2‐o‐C8 with respect to DSSC durability and binding ability to TiO2. These results unambiguously demonstrate that tropolone is a highly promising dye‐anchoring group for DSSCs in terms of device durability as well as photovoltaic performance. 相似文献

We have designed and synthesized highly efficient organic sensitizers with a planar thienothiophene–vinylene–thienothiophene linker. Under standard global AM 1.5 solar conditions, the JK‐113 ‐sensitized cell gave a short circuit photocurrent density (Jsc) of 17.61 mA cm?2, an open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.71 V, and a fill factor (FF) of 72 %, corresponding to an overall conversion efficiency (η) of 9.1 %. The incident monochromatic photo‐to‐current conversion efficiency (IPCE) of JK‐113 exceeds 80 % over the spectral region from 400 to 640 nm, reaching its maximum of 93 % at 475 nm. The band tails off toward 770 nm, contributing to the broad spectral light harvesting. Solar‐cell devices based on the sensitizer JK‐113 in conjunction with a volatile electrolyte and a solvent‐free ionic liquid electrolyte gave high conversion efficiencies of 9.1 % and 7.9 %, respectively. The JK‐113 ‐based solar cell fabricated using a solvent‐free ionic liquid electrolyte showed excellent stability under light soaking at 60 °C for 1000 h. 相似文献

The efficient electron injection by direct dye‐to‐TiO2 charge transfer and strong adhesion of mussel‐inspired synthetic polydopamine (PDA) dyes with TiO2 electrode is demonstrated. Spontaneous self‐polymerization of dopamine using dip‐coating (DC) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) in basic buffer solution were applied to TiO2 layers under a nitrogen atmosphere, which offers a facile and reliable synthetic pathway to make the PDA dyes, PDA‐DC and PDA‐CV, with conformal surface and perform an efficient dye‐to‐TiO2 charge transfer. Both synthetic methods led to excellent photovoltaic results and the PDA‐DC dye exhibited larger current density and efficiency values than those in the PDA‐CV dye. Under simulated AM 1.5 G solar light (100 mW cm?2), a PDA‐DC dye exhibited a short circuit current density of 5.50 mW cm?2, corresponding to an overall power conversion efficiency of 1.2 %, which is almost 10 times that of the dopamine dye‐sensitized solar cell. The PDA dyes showed strong adhesion with the nanocrystalline TiO2 electrodes and the interface engineering of a dye‐adsorbed TiO2 surface through the control of the coating methods, reaction times and solution concentration maximized the overall conversion efficiency, resulting in a remarkably high efficiency. 相似文献

All‐organic dyes have shown promising potential as an effective sensitizer in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The design concept of all‐organic dyes to improve light‐to‐electric‐energy conversion is discussed based on the absorption, electron injection, dye regeneration, and recombination. How the electron‐donor–acceptor‐type framework can provide better light harvesting through bandgap‐tuning and why proper arrangement of acceptor/anchoring groups within a conjugated dye frame is important in suppressing improper charge recombination in DSSCs are discussed. Separating the electron acceptor from the anchoring unit in the donor–acceptor‐type organic dye would be a promising strategy to reduce recombination and improve photocurrent generation. 相似文献

We have synthesized and characterized four organic dyes ( 9 , 10 , H1 , H2 ) based on a 3,6‐disubstituted carbazole donor as sensitizers in dye‐sensitized solar cells. These dyes have high molar extinction coefficients and energy levels suitable for electron transfer from an electrolyte to nanocrystalline TiO2 particles. Under standard air mass 1.5 global (AM 1.5 G) solar irradiation, a device using dye H4 exhibits a short‐circuit current density (Jsc) of 13.7 mA cm?2, an open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.68 V, a fill factor (FF) of 0.70, and a calculated efficiency of 6.52 %. This performance is comparable to that of a reference cell based on N719 (7.30 %) under the same conditions. After 1000 hours of visible‐light soaking at 60 °C, the overall efficiency remained at 95 % of the initial value. 相似文献

A series of heteroleptic bis(tridentate) RuII complexes featuring N^C^N‐cyclometalating ligands is presented. The 1,2,3‐triazole‐containing tridentate ligands are readily functionalized with hydrophobic side chains by means of click chemistry and the corresponding cyclometalated RuII complexes are easily synthesized. The performance of these thiocyanate‐free complexes in a dye‐sensitized solar cell was tested and a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of up to 4.0 % (Jsc=8.1 mA cm?2, Voc=0.66 V, FF=0.70) was achieved, while the black dye ((NBu4)3[Ru(Htctpy)(NCS)3]; Htctpy=2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine‐4′‐carboxylic acid‐4,4′′‐dicarboxylate) showed 5.2 % (Jsc=10.7 mA cm?2, Voc=0.69 V, FF=0.69) under comparable conditions. When co‐adsorbed with chenodeoxycholic acid, the PCE of the best cyclometalated dye could be improved to 4.5 % (Jsc=9.4 mA cm?2, Voc=0.65 V, FF=0.70). The PCEs correlate well with the light‐harvesting capabilities of the dyes, while a comparable incident photon‐to‐current efficiency was achieved with the cyclometalated dye and the black dye. Regeneration appeared to be efficient in the parent dye, despite the high energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital. The device performance was investigated in more detail by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Ultimately, a promising RuII sensitizer platform is presented that features a highly functionalizable “click”‐derived cyclometalating ligand. 相似文献

Fun in the sun! A strategy has been devised for functionalizing and solubilizing boron dipyrromethene (Bodipy) dyes at the central boron atom and changing the color by increasing delocalization on the central core. This approach leads to the formation of stable B? C≡C and pyrrole? C?C linkages suitable for use in TiO2‐sensitized devices (see figure).

The effects of the dye‐adsorption solvent on the performances of the dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on black dye have been investigated. The highest conversion efficiency (10.6 %) was obtained in the cases for which 1‐PrOH and the mixed solvent of EtOH and tBuOH (3:1 v/v) were employed as dye‐adsorption solvents. The optimized value for the dielectric constant of the dye‐adsorption solvent was found to be around 20. The DSSCs that used MeOH as a dye‐adsorption solvent showed inferior solar‐cell performance relative to the DSSCs that used EtOH, 1‐PrOH, 2‐PrOH, and 1‐BuOH. Photo‐ and electrochemical measurements of black dye both in solution and adsorbed onto the TiO2 surface revealed that black dye aggregates at the TiO2 surface during the adsorption process in the case for MeOH. Both the shorter electron lifetime in the TiO2 photoelectrode and the greater resistance in the TiO2–dye–elecrolyte interface, attributed to the dye aggregation at the TiO2 surface, cause the decrease in the solar‐cell performance of the DSSC that used MeOH as a dye adsorption solvent. 相似文献

Amphiphilic polypyridyl mthenium(Ⅱ) complex cis-di(isothiocyanato)(4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridyl)(4,4'- dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridyl)ruthenium(Ⅱ)(K005) has been synthesized and characterized by cyclic voltammetry, ^1H NMR, UV-Vis, and FT-IR spectroscopies. The sensitizer sensitizes TiO2 over a notably broad spectral range due to its intense metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) bands at 537 and 418 nm. The photophysical and photochemical studies of K005 were contrasted with those of cis-Ru(dcbpy)2(NCS)2, known as the N3 dye, and the amphiphilic ruthenium(Ⅱ) dye Z907. A reversible couple at E1/2=0.725 V vs. saturated calomel electrode (SCE) with a separation of 0.08 V between the anodic and cathodic peaks, was observed due to the Ru^Ⅱ/Ⅲ couple by cyclic voltammetry. Furthermore, this amphiphilic ruthenium complex was successfully used as sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells with the efficiency of 3.72% at the 100 mW·cm^-2 irradiance of air mass 1.5 simulated sunlight without optimization of TiO2 films and the electrolyte. 相似文献
