Five diamines with thiophene-based bridges--(E)-1,2-bis{5-[bis(4-butoxyphenyl)amino]-2-thienyl}ethylene (1), 5,5'-bis[bis(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]-2,2'-bithiophene (2), 2,6-bis[bis(4-butoxyphenyl)amino]dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]thiophene (3), N-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-2,6-bis[bis(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]pyrrole (4 a) and N-tert-butyl-2,6-bis[bis(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]pyrrole (4 b)--have been synthesised. The syntheses make use of the palladium(0)-catalysed coupling of brominated thiophene species with diarylamines, in some cases accelerated by microwave irradiation. The molecules all undergo facile oxidation, 4 b being the most readily oxidised at about -0.4 V versus ferrocenium/ferrocene, and solutions of the corresponding radical cations were generated by addition of tris(4-bromophenyl)aminium hexachloroantimonate to the neutral species. The near-IR spectra of the radical cations show absorptions characteristic of symmetrical delocalised species (that is, class III mixed-valence species); analysis of these absorptions in the framework of Hush theory indicates strong coupling between the two amine redox centres, stronger than that observed in species with phenylene-based bridging groups of comparable length. The strong coupling can be attributed to high-lying orbitals of the thiophene-based bridging units. ESR spectroscopy indicates that the coupling constant to the amino nitrogen atoms is somewhat reduced relative to that in a stilbene-bridged analogue. The neutral species and the corresponding radical cations have been studied with the aid of density functional theory and time-dependent density functional theory. The DFT-calculated ESR parameters are in good agreement with experiment, while calculated spin densities suggest increased bridge character to the oxidation in these species relative to that in comparable species with phenylene-based bridges.  相似文献

Poly(4-hydroxystyrene) (PHS) has been used in lithography as a backbone polymer and is also a promising material for extreme-ultraviolet or electron beam lithography. The dynamics of PHS radical cations generated upon exposure to electron beam were investigated. The transient absorption of PHS was observed in the near-infrared region in p-dioxane solutions by pulse radiolysis. Charge resonance (CR) bands that represent pi-pi interaction between the two chromophores of the intramolecular PHS dimer radical cation were observed, whereas p-cresol shows no distinct CR band. Although the radical cations of phenol derivatives are known to be easily deprotonated, it was found that the dimer radical cation formation leads to less deprotonation by its charge resonance stabilization.  相似文献

With the aid of density function theory, the molecular and electronic structures of the molecules Mo2(O2CMe)4, MoW(O2CMe)4, and W2(O2CMe)4 and their single-electron oxidized radical cations have been determined; this includes calculated observables such as v(MM) and the delta --> delta* electronic transition energies. The calculated properties are compared with those for the corresponding pivalates, M2(O2CtBu)4 (M = Mo or W) and MoW(O2CtBu)4 and their radical cations prepared in situ by oxidation with Cp2FePF6. The EPR spectra of the radical cations are also reported. The EPR spectrum of the MoW(O2CtBu)4+ cation reveals that the unpaired electron is in a polarized MM delta orbital having 70% Mo and 30% W character. The MM stretching frequencies show good correlation with the MM bond lengths obtained from single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of MoW(O2CtBu)4, W2(O2CtBu)4, and W2(O2CtBu)4+PF6- compounds, along with previously reported structures. These data provide benchmark parameters for valence trapped dicarboxylate bridged radical cations of the type [(tBuCO2)3M2]2(micro-O2C-X-CO2)+ (X = conjugated spacer).  相似文献

A series of conjugated (porphinato)zinc(II)-based chromophores structurally related to [5-(4-dimethylaminophenylethynyl)-15-(5-nitrothienyl-2-ethynyl)-10,20-bis(3,5-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)]zinc(II) were synthesized using metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions involving [5-bromo-15-triisopropylsilylethynyl-10,20-diarylporphinato]zinc(II), [5-bromo-15-(4-dimethylaminophenylethynyl)-10,20-diarylporphinato]zinc(II), [5-(4-dimethylaminophenylethynyl)-15-ethynyl-10,20-diarylporphinato]zinc(II), and [5-(4-nitrophenylethynyl)-15-ethynyl-10,20-diarylporphinato]zinc(II), along with appropriately functionalized aryl, thienyl (or thiophenyl), thiazolyl, benzothiazolyl, and carbazolyl precursors. The linear and nonlinear optical properties of these asymmetrically 5,15-substitued-(10,20-diarylporphinato)zinc(II) chromophores that bear either 2-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)-thiophen-5-yl-ethynyl, 4-dimethylaminophenylethynyl, or 2-(N,N-diphenylamino)thiophen-5-yl-ethynyl electron-releasing groups and an electron-withdrawing group selected from 2-formyl-thiophen-5-yl-ethynyl, 2-(2,2-dicyanovinyl)-thiophen-5-yl-ethynyl, 4-nitrophenylethynyl, 6-nitrobenzothiazol-2-yl-ethynyl, or 5-nitrothiazol-2-yl-ethynyl are reported. The dynamic hyperpolarizabilities of these compounds were determined from hyper-Rayleigh light scattering measurements carried out at a fundamental incident irradiation wavelength (lambda(inc)) of 1300 nm; these measured beta1300 values ranged from 690 --> 1400 x 10(-30) esu. These data (i) show that these neutral dipolar molecules express substantial beta1300 values, (ii) highlight that reductions in the magnitude of the aromatic stabilization energy of (porphinato)metal-pendant arylethynyl groups have a significant impact upon the magnitude of the molecular hyperpolarizability, and (iii) provide insights into advantageous design modifications for closely related structures having potential utility in long-wavelength electrooptic applications.  相似文献

Copper(II) coordination compounds with 3-(pyridin-2-yl)-5-(2-salicylideniminophenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole and 1,3-bis(5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole-3-yl)propane have been synthesized. The complexes have been studied by elemental and thermal analysis, IR and electron spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and magnetochemistry. According to X-ray diffraction data, the complexes have binuclear structures in which metal cations are bonded via the nitrogen atoms of two bridging triazole rings.  相似文献

The reactions between M2(O2CtBu)4, where M=Mo or W, and thienyl-3,4-dicarboxylic acid (0.5-1.5 equiv) in toluene proceed via a series of detectable intermediates to the compounds M8(O2CtBu)4(mu-SC4H2-3,4-{CO2}2)6, which are isolated as air-sensitive yellow (M=Mo) or red (M=W) powders and show parent molecular ions in their mass spectra (MALDI). The structure of the molybdenum complex was determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography and shown to contain an unusual M8 polygon involving four Mo2 quadruply bonded units linked via the agency of the six 3,4-thienylcarboxylate groups. The structure has crystallographically imposed S4 symmetry and may be described in terms of a highly distorted tetrahedron of Mo2 units or a bisphenoid in which two Mo2 units are linked by a thienyldicarboxylate such that intramolecular Mo2...O bonding is present, while the other thienylcarboxylate bridges merely serve to link these two [Mo2]...[Mo2] units together. The color of the compounds arises from intense M2 delta-to-thienyl pi transitions and, in THF, the complexes are redox-active and show four successive quasi-reversible oxidation waves. The [M8]+ radical cations, generated by one-electron oxidation with AgPF6, are shown to be valence-trapped (class II) by UV-vis-near-IR and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. These results are supported by the electronic structure calculations on model compounds M8(O2CH)4(mu-SC4H2-3,4-{CO}2)6 employing density functional theory that reveal only a small splitting of the M2 delta manifold via mixing with the 3,4-thienylcarboxylate pi system.  相似文献

This paper reports thermodynamic data for the transfer of calixarene derivatives and their metal-ion complexes in dipolar aprotic solvents. These data are used to assess the effect of solvation of these compounds on the selective complexation shown by these macrocycles for soft metal cations in different media. Thus, solubilities and derived Gibbs energies of solution of 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl[25,27-bis(hydroxyl)-26,28-bis(ethylthioethoxy)]calix(4)arene, 1, and 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-[25,27-bis(ethylenethanoate)-26,28-bis(ethylthioethoxy)]-calix(4)arene, 2, in various solvents at 298.15 K are reported. Solvation of these ligands in one medium relative to another is analyzed from their standard transfer Gibbs energies using acetonitrile as the reference solvent. These data are combined with transfer enthalpies (derived from standard solution enthalpies obtained calorimetrically) to calculate the corresponding entropies of transfer of these calix(4)arene derivatives from acetonitrile to methanol and N,N-dimethylformamide. As far as the metal-ion salts (silver and mercury) in their free and complex forms are concerned, standard solution enthalpies were determined in acetonitrile, methanol, and N,N-dimethylformamide. These data are used to derive their transfer enthalpies from one medium to another. It is concluded that the extent of complexation of these macrocycles with soft metal cations is controlled by not only the solvation changes that the free cation undergoes in moving from one medium to another but also those for the ligand and its complex cation in these solvents.  相似文献

The Raman spectra of various terthiophene radical cations are investigated; namely those of unsubstituted terthiophene and two styryl-substituted terthiophenes. Transient pump-probe resonance Raman spectroscopy is used to measure the short-lived radical cation spectra of non-end-capped 2,2':5',2'-terthiophene (3T) and 3'-[(E)-2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethenyl]-2,2':5',2'-terthiophene (NO2-pe3T). For these two compounds, the radical cations are generated via either direct photogeneration or photochemically using the electron acceptor tetracyanoethylene. The radical cation of 5,5'-dimethyl-3'-[(E)-2-phenylethenyl]-2,2':5',2'-terthiophene (DM-pe3T) is stable for up to five minutes as a result of the two alpha end caps and continuous-wave resonance Raman spectroscopy and chemical oxidation is used to obtain the spectrum of this radical cation. The resonance Raman spectra of all three terthiophene radical cations are dominated by a group of very intense bands in the low-frequency region. These bands have been assigned, by density functional theory methods, to C-S stretching modes coupled to thiophene ring deformations. These modes are significantly less intense in the sigma-dimer of NO2-pe3T [i.e. the corresponding styryl sexithiophene (NO2-pe3T)2]. This observation is attributed to a smaller change in the C--S bond order in the sexithiophene compared to the analogous terthiophene. This bond order difference may be rationalised by consideration of the singly occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital, which are involved in the electronic transition probed by the laser excitation wavelength.  相似文献

This paper reports the synthesis of 4,7,12,15-tetra(4'-dihexylaminostyryl)[2.2]paracyclophane (1), 4-(4'-dihexylaminostyryl)-7,12,15-tri(4' '-nitrostyryl)[2.2]paracyclophane (2), 4,7-bis(4'-dihexylaminostyryl)-12,15-bis(4' '-nitrostyryl)-[2.2]paracyclophane (3), 4,7,12-tris(4'-dihexylaminostyryl)-15-(4' '-nitrostyryl)[2.2]paracyclophane (4), 4,15-bis(4'-dihexylaminostyryl)-7,12-bis(4' '-nitrostyryl)[2.2]paracyclophane (5), and 4,12-bis(4'-dihexylaminostyryl)-7,15-bis(4' '-nitrostyryl)[2.2]paracyclophane (6). These molecules represent different combinations of bringing together distyrylbenzene chromophores containing donor and acceptor groups across a [2.2]paracyclophane (pCp) bridge. X-ray diffraction studies show that the lattice arrangements of 1 and 3 are considerably different from those of the parent chromophores 1,4-bis(4'dihexylaminostyryl)benzene (DD) and 1,4-di(4'-nitrostyryl)benzene (AA). Differences are brought about by the constraint by the pCp bridge and by virtue of chirality in the "paired" species. The absorption and emission spectra of 1-6 are also presented. Clear evidence of delocalization across the pCp structure is observed. Further, in the case of 2, 3, and 4, emission from the second excited state takes place.  相似文献

An extensive series of conjugated (porphinato)zinc(II)-based chromophores featuring nitrothiophenyl and nitrooligothiophenyl electron-accepting moieties has been synthesized using metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions involving [5-bromo-15-triisopropylsilylethynyl-10,20-diarylporphinato]zinc(II) and an unusual electron-rich Suzuki-porphyrin synthon, [5-(4-dimethylaminophenylethynyl)-15-(4',4',5',5'-tetramethyl[1',3',2']dioxaborolan-2'-yl)-10,20-diarylporphinato]zinc(II), with appropriately functionalized aryl and thienyl precursors. These donor-acceptor chromophores feature thiophenyl, [2,2']bithiophenyl, and [2,2';5',2' ']terthiophenyl units terminated with a 5-nitro group; one series of structures features these acceptor moieties appended directly to the porphyrin macrocycle meso-carbon position, while a second set utilizes an intervening meso-ethynyl moiety to modify porphyrin-to-thiophene conjugation. The dynamic hyperpolarizability of these compounds was determined from hyper-Rayleigh light scattering (HRS) measurements carried out at fundamental incident irradiation wavelengths (lambda(inc)) of 800 and 1300 nm; interestingly, measured beta(1300) values ranged from 650 --> 4350 x 10(-30) esu. The combined linear and nonlinear optical properties of these compounds challenge the classical concept of the nonlinearity/transparency tradeoff in charge-transfer chromophores: the magnitude of the molecular hyperpolarizability is observed to vary substantially despite approximately uniform ground-state absorptive signatures for a given porphyrin-to-thiophene linkage topology. These data show that these neutral dipolar molecules can express substantial beta(1300) values; such conjugated, electronically asymmetric porphyrin-thiophene chromophores may thus find utility for electrooptic applications at telecom-relevant wavelengths.  相似文献

The syntheses and electrooptic properties of a new family of nonlinear optical chromophores are reported. These species feature an ethyne-elaborated, highly polarizable porphyrinic component and metal polypyridyl complexes that serve as integral donor and acceptor elements. Examples of this structural motif include ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)(2+) bis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn); osmium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2'-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2'-terpyridine)(2+) bis-hexafluorophosphate (Os-PZn); ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2'-terpyridinyl))-15-(4'-nitrophenyl)ethynyl-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phen-yl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)(2+) bis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn-A); osmium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-15-(4'-nitrophenyl)ethynyl-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)(2+) bis-hexafluorophosphate (Os-PZn-A); and ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))osmium(II)-15-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2'-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis (2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-bis(2,2';6',2'-terpyridine)(4+) tetrakis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn-Os). The frequency dependence of the dynamic hyperpolarizability of these compounds was determined from hyperRayleigh light scattering (HRS) measurements carried out at fundamental incident irradiation wavelengths (lambda(inc)) of 800, 1064, and 1300 nm. These data show that (i) coupled oscillator photophysics and metal-mediated cross-coupling can be exploited to elaborate high beta(0) supermolecules that exhibit significant excited-state electronic communication between their respective pigment building blocks; (ii) high-stability metal polypyridyl compounds constitute an attractive alternative to electron releasing dialkyl- and diarylamino groups, the most commonly used donor moieties in a wide range of established nonlinear optical dyes; (iii) this design strategy enables ready elaboration of chromophores having extraordinarily large dynamic hyperpolarizabilities (beta(lambda) values) at telecommunication relevant wavelengths; and (iv) porphyrin B- and Q-state-derived static hyperpolarizabilities (beta(0) values) can be designed to have the same or opposite sign in these species, thus providing a new means to regulate the magnitude of lambda(inc)-specific dynamic hyperpolarizabilities.  相似文献

Transient dynamical studies of ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)2+ bis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn), osmium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)2+ bis-hexafluorophosphate (Os-PZn), ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-15-(4'-nitrophenyl)ethynyl-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)2+ bis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn-A), osmium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-15-(4'-nitrophenyl)ethynyl-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)2+ bis-hexafluorophosphate (Os-PZn-A), and ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-ruthenium(II)-15-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-bis(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine)4+ tetrakis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn-Ru), and ruthenium(II) [5-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-osmium(II)-15-(4'-ethynyl-(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridinyl))-10,20-bis(2',6'-bis(3,3-dimethyl-1-butyloxy)phenyl)porphinato]zinc(II)-bis(2,2';6',2' '-terpyridine) tetrakis-hexafluorophosphate (Ru-PZn-Os) show that these highly conjugated supermolecular chromophores feature electronically excited states that absorb over broad NIR spectral windows with considerable oscillator strength and manifest lifetimes (1-50 mus) that are extraordinarily long relative to those of classic low band-gap organic materials. The excited-state absorptive domains of these strongly coupled multipigment ensembles can be extensively modulated. For sequential one-photon absorptive processes, these compounds evince large sigmae, sigmae/sigmag, and sigmae - sigmag values. As the combination of all these properties within single chromophoric entities have heretofore lacked precedent within the NIR, these and closely related structures may find particular utility in a variety of technologically important optical-limiting applications.  相似文献

Radical cations have been generated for 10 bis[4-(diarylamino)styryl]arenes and heteroarenes to investigate the effect of the electron-richness of the terminal groups and of the bridging (hetero)arene on delocalization. The intervalence charge-transfer bands of these radical cations vary from weak broad Gaussians, indicative of localized class-II mixed-valence species, to strong relatively narrow asymmetric bands, characteristic of delocalized class-III bis(diarylamino) species, to narrow symmetric bands in cases where the bridge contribution to the singly occupied molecular orbital is largest. Hush analysis of these bands yields estimates of the electronic coupling varying from 480 cm(-1) (electron-poor bridge, most electron-rich terminal aryl groups) to 1000 cm(-1) (electron-rich bridge, least electron-rich termini) if the diabatic electron-transfer distance, R(ab), is equated to the N-N separation. Computational and electron spin resonance (ESR) evidence for displacement of the diabatic states into the bridge (reduced R(ab)) suggests that these values are underestimates and that even more variation is to be expected through the series. Several dications have also been studied. The vis-NIR absorption of the dication of (E,E)-1,4-bis{4-[bis(4-n-butoxyphenyl)amino]styryl}-2,5-dicyanobenzene is seen at an energy similar to that of the strongest band in the spectrum of the corresponding weakly coupled monocation, with approximately twice the absorptivity, and its ESR spectrum suggests essentially noninteracting radical centers. In contrast, the electronic spectra of class-III monocations show no clear relationship to those of the corresponding dications, which ESR reveals to be singlet species.  相似文献

Suzuki cross-coupling reactions have afforded 20-phenyl-substituted Chlorophyll a derivatives (ZCPh) in good yields and significant quantities from readily available Chl a. A series of donor-acceptor dyads was synthesized in which naphthalene-1,8:4,5-bis(dicarboximide) or either of two perylene-3,4:9,10-bis(dicarboximide) electron acceptors is attached to the para position of the 20-phenyl group. Comparisons with the analogous dyads based on a zinc 5,10,15-tri(n-pentyl)-20-phenylporphyrin donor show that, for a given acceptor and solvent, the rates of photoinduced charge separation and recombination as well as the calculated electronic coupling matrix elements, V, for these reactions differ by less than a factor of 2. However, EPR and ENDOR spectroscopy corroborated by DFT calculations show that the highest occupied MO of ZCPh+* has little spin (charge) density at the 20-carbon atom, whereas Z3PnPh+* has significant spin (charge) density there, implying that V, and therefore the electron-transfer rates, should differ significantly for these two macrocyclic donors. DFT calculations on ZCPh+* and Z3PnPh+*, with two -0.5 charges located where the nearest carbonyl oxygen atoms of the acceptor would reside in the donor-acceptor dyads, show that the presence of the negative charges significantly shifts the charge density of both ZCPh+* and Z3PnPh+* from the macrocycle onto the phenyl rings. Thus, the presence of adjacent covalently linked radical anions at a fixed location relative to each of these radical cations results in nearly identical electronic coupling matrix elements for electron transfer and therefore very similar rates.  相似文献

Nanosecond laser flash photolysis studies of the radical cation of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxystyrene show that the radical cation reacts with neutral 4-hydroxy-3-methoxystyrene and non-phenolic styrenes with rate constants that range from 1 x 10(8) to 5 x 10(8) M(-1) s(-1). Similar 4-vinylphenol radical cations such as the radical cations of isoeugenol and coniferyl alcohol display reduced reactivity, presumably due to the presence of beta-alkyl substituents. Overall, the results show that the reactivity of 4-vinylphenol radical cations with neutral styrenes parallels the reactivity of non-phenolic styrene radical cations, which are known to undergo efficient radical cation mediated dimerization reactions to give lignan-like compounds. The possibility that the biosynthesis of some lignans may follow a radical cation mediated mechanism is discussed.  相似文献

The photophysics and morphology of thin films of N,N-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)perylene-3,4:9,10-bis(dicarboximide) (1) and the 1,7-diphenyl (2) and 1,7-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylphenyl) (3) derivatives blended with 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pentacene (TIPS-Pn) were studied for their potential use as photoactive layers in organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices. Increasing the steric bulk of the 1,7-substituents of the perylene-3,4:9,10-bis(dicarboximide) (PDI) impedes aggregation in the solid state. Film characterization data using both atomic force microscopy and X-ray diffraction showed that decreasing the PDI aggregation by increasing the steric bulk in the order 1 < 2 < 3 correlates with a decrease in the density/size of crystalline TIPS-Pn domains. Transient absorption spectroscopy was performed on ~100 nm solution-processed TIPS-Pn:PDI blend films to characterize the charge separation dynamics. These results showed that selective excitation of the TIPS-Pn results in competition between ultrafast singlet fission ((1*)TIPS-Pn + TIPS-Pn → 2 (3*)TIPS-Pn) and charge transfer from (1*)TIPS-Pn to PDIs 1-3. As the blend films become more homogeneous across the series TIPS-Pn:PDI 1 → 2 → 3, charge separation becomes competitive with singlet fission. Ultrafast charge separation forms the geminate radical ion pair state (1)(TIPS-Pn(+?)-PDI(-?)) that undergoes radical pair intersystem crossing to form (3)(TIPS-Pn(+?)-PDI(-?)), which then undergoes charge recombination to yield either (3*)PDI or (3*)TIPS-Pn. Energy transfer from (3*)PDI to TIPS-Pn also yields (3*)TIPS-Pn. These results show that multiple pathways produce the (3*)TIPS-Pn state, so that OPV design strategies based on this system must utilize this triplet state for charge separation.  相似文献

From the reactions between [M2(O2CtBu)4] and 9,10-anthracenedicarboxylic acid in toluene, the dicarboxylate bridged complexes [[M2(O2CtBu)3]2(mu-9,10An(CO2)2)], have been obtained as microcrystalline yellow (M = Mo) and red (M = W) powders. The powders are soluble in THF forming intense red (M = Mo) and green (M = W) solutions. The electronic absorption spectra in 2-MeTHF have been recorded as a function of temperature (2-298 K) and show a small bathochromic shift on cooling. The electronic structures have been investigated by molecular orbital calculations employing density functional theory on the model compounds [(HCO2)3M2]2(mu-9,10-An(CO2)2) where the M4 unit is constrained to lie in a plane. These reveal a minimum energy, gas-phase structure wherein the plane of the anthracene is twisted by ca. 54 degrees with respect to its 9,10-carboxylate units for both Mo and W. The results of these calculations are correlated with the electronic absorption spectral data and the electrochemical measurements (CV and DPV) of the first and second oxidation waves. The EPR spectra of the radical cations formed by single-electron oxidation with [Cp2Fe](+)[PF6]- in a THF-CH2Cl2 solvent mixture show that the complexes are valence trapped at ambient temperature on the EPR timescale. These results are discussed in the light of recent studies of dicarboxylate-linked MM quadruple bonds.  相似文献

A bichromophoric electron donor-acceptor molecule composed of a zinc tetraphenylporphyrin (ZnTPP) surrounded by four perylene-3,4:9,10-bis(dicarboximide)(PDI) chromophores (ZnTPP-PDI(4)) was synthesized. The properties of this molecule were compared to a reference molecule having ZnTPP covalently bound to a single PDI (ZnTPP-PDI). In toluene, ZnTPP-PDI(4) self-assembles into monodisperse aggregates of five molecules arranged in a columnar stack, (ZnTPP-PDI(4))(5). The monodisperse nature of this assembly contrasts sharply with previously reported ZnTPP-PDI(4) derivatives having 1,7-bis(3,5-di-t-butylphenoxy) groups (ZnTPP-PPDI(4)). The size and structure of this assembly in solution was determined by small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) using a high flux synchrotron X-ray source. The ZnTPP-PDI reference molecule does not aggregate. Femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy shows that laser excitation of both ZnTPP-PDI and (ZnTPP-PDI(4))(5) results in quantitative formation of ZnTPP(+*)-PDI(-*) radical ion pairs in a few picoseconds. The transient absorption spectra of (ZnTPP-PDI(4))(5) suggest that the PDI(-*) radicals interact strongly with adjacent PDI molecules within the columnar stack. Charge recombination occurs more slowly within (ZnTPP-PDI(4))(5)(tau= 4.8 ns) than it does in ZnTPP-PDI (tau= 3.0 ns) producing mostly ground state as well as a modest yield of the lowest triplet state of PDI ((3*)PDI). Formation of (3*)PDI occurs by rapid spin-orbit induced intersystem crossing (SO-ISC) directly from the singlet radical ion pair as evidenced by the electron spin polarization pattern exhibited by its time-resolved electron paramagnetic resonance spectrum.  相似文献

B3LYP/6-31G(d) density functional quantum chemical calculations of vicinally substituted bis(indol-1-yl)derivatives of 1,5-dihydropyrrol-2-one, furan-2,5-dione, cyclopent-4-ene-1,3-dione, cyclobut-3-ene-1,2-dione, and pyrrolidine-2,5-dione were carried out to study the effect of modification of the maleimide moiety in 3,4-bis(indol-1-yl)maleimides on the direction of intramolecular cyclization under the action of protic acids. Geometric parameters, charge distributions, energy characteristics, and frontier orbital energies of these compounds and the corresponding indoleninium cations were determined. Alternative protonation routes of 3,4-bis(indol-1-yl)-1,5-dihydropyrrol-2-one have been studied. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. A family of triads composed of C(60) attached by a rigid spacer to two identical TTF moieties has been synthesized, and some of the isomers have been isolated and characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, LDI-TOF-MS, and HMBC NMR spectroscopy. AM1 semiempirical calculations of the dipolar moments and the heats of formation of the different isomers have been carried out in order to verify their assignments. Oxidation and reduction of the triads affords the derived radical ion systems, TTF(+*)-C(60)-TTF(+*) and TTF-C(60)(-*)-TTF, which were studied by EPR spectroscopy. Spin density distributions of these radical cations and radical anions show that the unpaired electron is located mainly on the TTF and fullerene moieties, respectively. However, while the EPR signals obtained from the radical cations are very similar for all the isomers, the structured signals observed for the radical anions arising from the coupling of the unpaired electron with the hydrogen atoms of the methylene bridges in the spacer show that there is a strong influence of the isomerism on the spin distribution. Importantly, the theoretical calculations of the spin density distributions of the radical anions fit well with the experimental EPR results.  相似文献
