We have measured theR value in non-resonante + e annihilation using the ARGUS detector at the storage ring DORIS II. At a centre-of-mass energy GeV the ratio of the hadronic cross-section to the -pair cross section in lowest order QED has been determined to beR=3.46±0.03±0.13. In addition, we have measured the charged-particle multiplicities in non-resonant hadron production at GeV just below theB threshold and in (4S) resonance decays. For the average charged-particle multiplicities in continuum events and (4S)B decays we obtain n>cont=8.35±0.02±0.20 and n>(4s)=10.81±0.05±0.23.Supported by the German Bundesministerium für Forschung und Technologie, Contract no. 054DO51P  相似文献

The reaction γpK + Λ(1520) was measured in the energy range from threshold to 2.65 GeV with the SAPHIR detector at the electron stretcher facility ELSA in Bonn. The Λ(1520) production cross-section was analyzed in the decay modes pK ?, $ n\bar K^0 $ , Σ ± π ?, and Λπ + π ? as a function of the photon energy and the squared four-momentum transfer t . While the cross-sections for the inclusive reactions rise steadily with energy, the cross-section of the process γpK + Λ(1520) peaks at a photon energy of about 2.0 GeV, falls off exponentially with t , and shows a slope flattening with increasing photon energy. The angular distributions in the t-channel helicity system indicate neither a K nor a K * exchange dominance. Rather, the rapid change of the angular distribution with energy suggests that, in addition to t -channel K and K* exchange, amplitudes for formation of nucleon resonances in the s-channel play an important role.  相似文献

The recently discovered resonance at 125 GeV has properties remarkably close to those of the Standard Model Higgs boson. We perform model-independent fits of all presently available data. The non-standard best-fits found in our previous analyses remain favored with respect to the SM fit, mainly but not only because the γγ rate remains above the SM prediction.  相似文献

The electric form factor of the neutron, GE,n, has been measured at the Mainz Microtron by recoil polarimetry in the quasielastic De, e¯n)p reaction. Three data points have been extracted at squared four-momentum transfers Q 2 = 0.3, 0.6 and 0.8 (GeV/c)2. Corrections for nuclear binding effects have been applied.This revised version was published online in March 2005. In an experiment with the Spherical Neutral Detector at VEPP-2M collider the cross section of the process e+e-→π+π-π0π0 was measured. At energies √s < 920 MeV this cross section was measured for the first time. The energy dependence of the cross section is well discribed by the vector dominance model with contributions from ρ, ρ' ρ", mesons. The decay probability ρ→π+π-π0π0was found to be Bρ = (1.60±0.74±0.18)×10-5. The upper limit for the decay ω→π+π-π0π0 was improved by two orders of magnitude compared to the previous measurements and is Bω < 2 × 10-4 at 90% confidence level.  相似文献

The population of isomeric states in (γ, γ′) photonuclear reactions at energies around the giant dipole resonance is considered for 115In and 180Hf nuclei. The results are compared with previously published experimental and theoretical data. The behavior of the excitation function suggests an increase in the cross section for the formation of high-spin isomeric states in the giant-dipole-resonance region.  相似文献

Experimental results for the radiative energy loss of 149, 207, and 287 GeV electrons in a thin Ir target are presented. From the data we conclude that at high energies the radiation length increases in accordance with the Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal (LPM) theory and thus electrons become more penetrating the higher the energy. The increase of the radiation length as a result of the LPM effect has a significant impact on the behavior of high-energy electromagnetic showers.  相似文献

The charged particle multiplicity distribution has been studied for non-single-diffractive π+ p andpp collisions at \(\sqrt s = 22\) GeV, for full phase space as well as for intervals in rapidity, azimuthal angle and transverse momentum. In general, the multiplicity distribution is well described by a negative binomial. From comparison of the distribution for negative or positive particles to that of all charged particles, cascading is favoured as an interpretation over stimulated emission. Interesting consequences follow from a comparison of our results to those at collider energies and toe + e ? data at comparable energy. Furthermore, evidence is given that the multiplicity distribution is not exactly of negative binomial type in every (connected or disconnected) phase space region.  相似文献

New phonon operators are introduced for describing deformed nuclei which consist of the electric and magnetic parts. The Hamiltonian of the quasiparticle-phonon nuclear model is constructed and the basic equations for the finite rank separable isoscalar and isovector multipole and spin-multipole particle-hole and particle-particle interactions between quasiparticles are derived. It is shown that calculations of one-phonon states in the RPA encounter some difficulties due to the finite rankn max>1 separable interaction of the electric and magnetic type. The use of complex separablen max>1 interactions does not lead to complication of the QPNM equations for describing fragmentation of vibrational states. The matrix elements are obtained for describingE- andM- transitions between excited states of deformed nuclei. It is stated that the QPNM can serve as a basis for calculating many characteristics of excited states of deformed nuclei.  相似文献

The2H(d, )4He differential cross section was measured at deuteron laboratory energies of 20, 24, and 28 MeV between cm=45° and cm=135°. AtE d =28 MeV a complete angular distribution was determined and fitted with Legendre polynomials. The ratioR=d/d (cm=90°)/d/d (cm=135°) was measured for each deuteron energy.  相似文献

Current Higgs boson searches in various channels at the LHC point to an excess at around 124-126 GeV due to a possibly standard-model-like Higgs boson. If one examines more closely the channels (γγ, WW(*), and ZZ(*)) that have excess, this "Higgs boson" may be the Randall-Sundrum radion ?. Because of the trace anomaly, the radion has stronger couplings to the photon and gluon pairs. Thus, it will enhance the production rates into gg and γγ, while those for WW(*), ZZ(*), and b ?b are reduced relative to their standard model values. We show that it can match well with the data from CMS for m(?)=124 GeV, and the required scale Λ(?)~ is about 0.68 TeV.  相似文献
