N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone/methyl acrylate (V/M) copolymers were prepared by free‐radical bulk polymerization using benzoyl peroxide as an initiator. The copolymer composition of these copolymers was calculated from 1H NMR spectra. The radical reactivity ratios for N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (V) and methyl acrylate (M) were rV = 0.09, rM = 0.44. These reactivity ratios for the copolymerization of V and M were determined using the Kelen–Tudos and nonlinear least‐squares error‐in‐variable methods. The 13C{1H} and 1H NMR spectra of these copolymers overlapped and were complex. The complete spectral assignment of the 13C and 1H NMR spectra were done with distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer and two dimensional 13C‐1H heteronuclear single quantum correlation spectroscopic experiments. The two‐dimensional 1H‐1H homonuclear total correlation spectroscopic NMR spectrum showed the various bond interactions, thus inferring the possible structure of the copolymers. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Glycidylmethacrylate/vinyl acetate copolymers were prepared by solution polymerization with benzene as a solvent and benzoyl peroxide as an initiator. Copolymer compositions were determined from 1H NMR spectra, and comonomer reactivity ratios were determined by the Kelen–Tudos (KT) method and the nonlinear least‐squares error‐in‐variable method (EVM). The reactivity ratios obtained from KT and EVM were rG = 37.4 ± 12.0 and rV = 0.036 ± 0.019 and rG = 35.2 and rV = 0.03, respectively. Complete spectral assignments of 13C and 1H NMR spectra were done with the help of distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer and two‐dimensional 13C–1H heteronuclear single quantum coherence and total correlation spectroscopy. The methyl, methine, and methylene carbon resonance showed both stereochemical and compositional sensitivity. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Acrylonitrile/pentyl acrylate (A/P) copolymers of different monomer composition were prepared by solution polymerization using benzoyl peroxide as initiator. Copolymer compositions were determined by elemental analysis and quantitative 13C1H‐NMR spectroscopy. The comonomer reactivity ratios, determined by both Kelen Tudos (KT) and nonlinear error in variables (EVM) methods are rA = 0.75 and rp = 0.45. 2‐D heteronuclear correlation spectroscopy (HSQC) was used to simplify the complex 1H spectra of A/P copolymers in terms of configurational and compositional sequences. The microstructure was obtained in terms of the distribution of A‐ and P‐ centered triad sequences from 13C1H‐NMR spectra of the copolymers. The copolymerization mechanism was found to follow a first order Markov Model. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 37: 533–543, 1999  相似文献

Zero‐valent iron particles were prepared by wet reduction chemistry assisted with ultrasonic treatment. Such prepared particles have uniform size, exhibit crystalline structure and show strong paramagnetic property. Their surface modification by coating poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone) (PVP) was investigated. The resulting Fe(0)‐PVP particles were monodispersed and possessed enhancing magnetization saturation. Those synthesis conditions to control the particle size and distribution were exploited.  相似文献

The miscibility and thermal properties of poly(N‐phenyl‐2‐hydroxytrimethylene amine)/poly(N‐vinyl pyrrolidone) (PHA/PVP) blends were examined by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), high‐resolution solid‐state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). It was found that PHA is miscible with PVP, as shown by the existence of a single composition‐dependent glass transition temperature (Tg) in the whole composition range. The DSC results, together with the 13C crosspolarization (CP)/magic angle spinning (MAS)/high‐power dipolar decoupling (DD) spectra of the blends, revealed that there exist rather strong intermolecular interactions between PHA and PVP. The increase in hydrogen bonding and in Tg of the blends was found to broaden the line width of CH—OH carbon resonance of PHA. The measurement of the relaxation time showed that the PHA/PVP blends are homogeneous at least on the scale of 1–2 nm. The proton spin‐lattice relaxation in both the laboratory frame and the rotating frame were studied as a function of the blend composition, and it was found that blending did not appreciably affect the spectral densities of motion (sub‐Tg relaxation) in the mid‐MHz and mid‐KHz frequency ranges. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that PHA has rather good thermal stability, and the thermal stability of the blend can be further improved with increasing PVP content. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The monomer 3‐ethyl‐1‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone ( 3 ) and the homopolymer poly(3‐ethyl‐1‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone) ( 5 ) have been synthesized. Polymer 5 is soluble in water and shows a critical temperature (Tc) of 27 °C. The presence of cyclodextrin causes a slight shift of the Tc. The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) could be varied between 27 and 40 °C by copolymerization with N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone. A linear correlation between the Tc and the copolymer composition is observed.

This work is devoted to the design of a novel family of hydrosoluble biomaterials: poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone) (PVP)‐based graft copolymers. A synthesis route has been elaborated in which ω‐functionalized PVP is prepared via chain‐transfer radical polymerization, end‐group modified, and subsequently grafted onto a polyhydroxylated backbone, typically dextran or poly(vinyl alcohol). The resulting graft copolymer biomaterials are designed for use in various biomedical applications, particularly as materials with a stronger potential for plasma expansion than already existing products have. The graft copolymers are potentially degradable because the PVP grafts are connected to the polyol backbone via a hydrolytically labile carbonate or ester linkage. The degradation of the graft copolymers was performed in vitro over a period of 6 weeks. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 3652–3661, 2002  相似文献

Copolymers of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and n‐butyl acrylate (n‐BA) were synthesized under atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) conditions. The molar infeed ratio was varied to obtain copolymers with different compositions. Methyl 2‐bromo propionate was used as the initiator with CuBr/Cu(0)/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine as the catalyst at 60 °C. Molecular weight distribution was determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Copolymer compositions (FM) were calculated from 1H NMR spectra. Reactivity ratios calculated with the Mao–Huglin terminal model at a high conversion were found to be rM = 2.17 and rB = 0.47. The polymerization mechanism was studied with the α‐methyl region of MMA. The backbone methylene and carbonyl carbons of both MMA and n‐BA units were found to be compositionally as well as configurationally sensitive. Complete spectral assignments were performed with the help of heteronuclear single quantum coherence (HSQC) spectroscopy along with total correlated spectroscopy (TOCSY). Further, the assignments of the carbonyl region were made with the help of heteronuclear multiple quantum coherence (HMBC) spectroscopy. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new monomer derivative of N‐vinyl‐2‐caprolactam (VCL), namely 3‐(tert‐butoxycarbonylmethyl)‐N‐vinyl‐2‐caprolactam (TBMVCL), was synthesized via nucleophilic substitution at the α‐carbon to the lactam carbonyl group. The monomer was copolymerized radically with VCL and the copolymer compositions were controlled through varying the molar feeding percentages of TBMVCL. The resulting copolymers exhibited temperature‐responsive properties in water, with cloud points decreasing from 33 °C to 13 °C when the TBMVCL composition increased from 2.2 mol % to 18.6 mol %. Removal of the tert‐butyl protecting groups via acid hydrolysis exposed the carboxyl groups, which conferred pH sensitivity to the thermoresponsive properties of the resulting deprotected copolymers. The cloud point was found to increase with the increase of solution pH from 2.0 to 7.4, due to the ionization of the carboxyl groups. The influence of pH was most drastic for the 18.6 mol % copolymer composition. Furthermore, the phase transition temperature of the deprotected copolymers was found to be dependent on the polymer solution concentration, exemplifying classical Flory–Huggins miscibility behavior. Comparison of responsiveness was also made with another type of carboxyl functionalized poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐caprolactam) copolymer reported in our prior study, to examine the influence of the chemical structure of the carboxyl substitution group. Finally, the deprotected copolymer was demonstrated to be biocompatible using a fibroblast cell culture. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Highly cross‐linked porous copolymers of 1‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone with divinylbenzene were obtained in the form of microspheres by the free‐radical cross‐linking copolymerization. The porous structure of the copolymers was created by the use of adequate diluents and stabilizers. The main parameters of the porous structure were determined by nitrogen adsorption/desorption method and positronium annihilation lifetime spectroscopy. It was shown that the determined parameters strongly depend on the chosen approach.  相似文献

Highly crosslinked copolymers of 1‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (VP) were obtained in the form of microspheres by combined suspension–emulsion polymerization. The porous structure of the copolymers was created by the use of proper diluents. The main parameters of porous structure were established in the dry and wet states. Three methods: inverse size‐exclusion chromatography (ISEC), nitrogen adsorption, and small X‐ray scattering (SAXS) were used in porous structure investigations. It was shown that the determined parameters strongly depend on the chosen method and the microspheres can be used as packing materials in chromatography. Nonporous hydrogel microspheres 0.1–1.3 μm in diameter were prepared by the dispersion copolymerization of 1‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone and ethylene dimethacrylate as a crosslinking agent. The crosslinking was evidenced by solid state 13C NMR and elemental analysis. The effect of various parameters including selection of solvent (cyclohexane, butyl acetate), initiator (4,4′‐azobis(4‐cyanopentanoic acid), 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile, dibenzoyl peroxide) and stabilizer on the properties of resulting microspheres has been studied. Dynamic light scattering and photographic examination were used for determination of the diameter and polydispersity of microspheres. Increasing concentration of steric stabilizer in the initial polymerization mixture decreased the particle size. The particle size depended on the molecular weight of polystyrene‐block‐hydrogenated polyisoprene stabilizer, but not on the number of PS and polybutadiene blocks in the styrene–butadiene block copolymer stabilizers. Dibenzoyl peroxide used as an initiator resulted in agglomeration of particles. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 38: 653–663, 2000  相似文献

Terpolymers of acrylonitrile (A), methyl methacrylate (B), and methyl acrylate (M) were synthesized under optimized atom transfer radical polymerization conditions using 2‐bromopropionitrile as an initiator and CuBr/dinonyl bipyridine as a catalyst. Variation of the feed composition led to terpolymers with different compositions. Composition of synthesized terpolymers were calculated from quantitative 13C{1H} NMR spectra. Number average molecular weight and polydispersity index were determined by gel permeation chromatography. The overlapping and broad signals of the terpolymers were assigned completely to various compositional and configurational sequences by correlation of one‐dimensional 1H, 13C{1H}, and distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer and two‐dimensional heteronuclear single quantum coherence (HSQC) and total correlation spectroscopy (TOCSY). 2D HSQC NMR study shows one to one correlation between carbon and proton signals, while 2D TOCSY spectra were used to confirm 1, 2 bond geminal couplings between nonequivalent protons of same methylene group. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Copolymers of 2‐methylene‐1,3‐dioxepane (MDO) and methyl acrylate (MA) containing ester units both in the backbone and as pendant groups were synthesized by free‐radical copolymerization. The influence of reaction conditions such as the polymerization time, temperature, initiator concentration, and comonomer feed ratio on the yield, molecular weight, and copolymer composition was investigated. The structure of the copolymers was confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and IR spectroscopy. Differential scanning calorimetry indicated that the copolymers had a random structure. An NMR study showed that hydrogen transfer occurred during the copolymerization. The reactivity ratios of the comonomers were rMDO = 0.0235 and rMA = 26.535. The enzymatic degradation of the copolymers obtained was carried out in the presence of proteinase K or a crude enzyme extracted from earthworms. The experimental results showed that the higher ester molar percentage in the backbone caused a faster degradation rate. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone‐crotonic acid) [P(VP/CrA)] hydrogels were prepared by irradiating the ternary mixture of VP/CrA and crosslinking agent ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) in water by γ rays at ambient temperature. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis were performed to evaluate the thermal properties of ionized networks and to establish if they showed thermal differences that could be related to the CrA content in the gel system. The volume swelling ratio of P(VP/CrA) hydrogels were investigated as a function of the pH in the immersing solution. The volume swelling ratio of these hydrogels increased with an increase in pH and a decrease CrA content in the hydrogel. The volume swelling ratio of the hydrogels was also evaluated using an equation, based on the Flory—Huggins thermodynamic theory, the phantom network theory of James–Guth and Donnan theory of swelling of weakly charged ionic gels for determination of the molecular weight between crosslinks and the polymer–solvent interaction parameter (χ). We report the monomer reactivity ratios for copolymers of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and a reactive monomer, 2‐vinyl‐4,4′‐dimethylazlactone (VDMA), using the Fineman–Ross, inverted Fineman–Ross, Kelen–Tudos, extended Kelen–Tudos, and Tidwell–Mortimer methods at low and high polymer conversions. Copolymers were obtained by radical polymerization initiated by 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile in methyl ethyl ketone solutions and were analyzed by NMR, gas chromatography (GC), and gel permeation chromatography. 1H NMR analysis was used to determine the molar fractions of MMA and VDMA in the copolymers at both low and high conversions. GC analysis determined the molar fractions of the monomers at conversions of less than 27% and greater than 65% for the low‐ and high‐conversion copolymers, respectively. The reactivity ratios indicated a tendency toward random copolymerization, with a higher rate of consumption of VDMA at high conversions. For both low‐ and high‐conversion copolymers, the molecular weights increased with increasing molar fractions of VDMA, and this was consistent with the faster consumption of VDMA (compared with that of MMA). © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Reaction of cadmium nitrate with diphenylphosphinic acid in dimethylformamide solvent yielded the one‐dimensional coordination polymer catena‐poly[[bis(dimethylformamide‐κO)cadmium(II)]‐bis(μ‐diphenylphosphinato‐κ2O:O′)], [Cd(C12H10O2P)2(C3H7NO)2]n, (I). Addition of 4,4′‐bipyridine to the synthesis afforded a two‐dimensional extended structure, poly[[(μ‐4,4′‐bipyridine‐κ2N:N′)bis(μ‐diphenylphosphinato‐κ2O:O′)cadmium(II)] dimethylformamide monosolvate], {[Cd(C12H10O2P)2(C10H8N2)]·C3H7NO}n, (II). In (II), the 4,4′‐bipyridine molecules link the CdII centers in the crystallographic a direction, while the phosphinate ligands link the CdII centers in the crystallographic b direction to complete a two‐dimensional sheet structure. Consideration of additional π–π interactions of the phenyl rings in (II) produces a three‐dimensional structure with channels that encapsulate dimethylformamide molecules as solvent of crystallization. Both compounds were characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction and FT–IR analysis.  相似文献
