Direct determination of uranium in the concentration range of 8 μg L−1 to mg L−1 in water samples originating from different geochemical environments has been done using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). Uranium detection with 2–3% RSD (relative standard deviation) has been achieved in water samples by optimizing the plasma power, argon and sheath gas flow. These parameters were optimized for three different emission lines of uranium at 385.958, 409.014 and 424.167 nm. Interference arising due to the variation in concentration of bicarbonate, sodium chloride, calcium chloride, Fe and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) on the determination of uranium in water samples was also cheeked as these are the elements which vary as per the prevailing geochemical environment in groundwater samples. The concentration of NaHCO3, CaCl2 and NaCl in water was varied in the range 0.5–2.0%; whereas Fe ranged between 1 and 10 μg mL−1 and DOC between 0.1–1%. No marked interference in quantitative determination of uranium was observed due to elevated level of NaHCO3, CaCl2 and NaCl and Fe and DOC in groundwater samples. Concentration of uranium was also determined by other techniques like adsorptive striping voltametry (AdSv); laser fluorimetry and alpha spectrometry. Results indicate distinct advantage for uranium determination by ICP-OES compare to other techniques.  相似文献

Summary A simple and sensitive method for the determination of trace amounts of bisphenol-A (BPA), bisphenol-A diglycidyl dimethacrylate (bis-GMA), bisphenol-A dimethacrylate (bis-DMA) and triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) in human saliva is proposed. These materials are used in dental restorations, as composites and sealants, and are sometimes detected in human saliva after dental treatment. The proposed method involves protein precipitation using acetonitrile followed by acidification, evaporation of the solvent and dissolution with dichloromethane prior to injection into a GC-MS. Thermal derivatization in the injection system was used for the identification and quantification of bis-GMA. Clean-up is not necessary using SIM mode. Bisphenol-F (BPF) was used as internal standard. The linear range was 15 to 1000 μg·L−1 for BPA, 50 to 10 000 μg·L−1 for bis-GMA, 50 to 1000 μg·L−1 for bis-DMA and 1 to 100 μg·L−1 for TEGDMA. The detection limits were 3,15,10 and 0.3 μg·L−1 for BPA, bis-GMA, bis-DMA and TEGD-MA, respectively. Validation of the proposed method was carried out by using the standard addition methodology. Samples of 10 mL of human saliva collected 1 h after dental treatment were analysed in order to assess the applicability of the method to detect and quantify such compounds originated from methacrylic resins used in odontological treatment.  相似文献

The determination of iodate in rain-water by neutron activation analysis is described. Iodate is separated by anion exchange. The determination limit of I is 0.02 μg·L−1 for a 20 ml sample. The influence of the sea on the composition of rain-water is demonstrated by the analysis of coastal rain-water. The results indicate that inorganic iodine (I2 and IO 3 ) is enriched in filtered coastal rain-water relative to the composition of sea-water.  相似文献

The development of a spectrophotometric method for the determination of hydrogen peroxide in uranyl nitrate solutions is reported. The method involves the measurement of the absorbance at 520 nm of a vanadyl peroxide species. This species was formed by the addition of a reagent consisting of vanadium (V) (50 mmol·dm−3) in dilute sulphuric acid (2 mol·dm−3 H2SO4). This reagent, after dilution, was also used as an extractant for organic phase samples. The method is simple and robust and tolerant of nitric acid and U(VI). Specificity and accuracy were improved by the application of solid phase extraction techniques to remove entrained organic solvents and Pu(IV). Reverse phase solid phase extraction was used to clean-up aqueous samples or extracts which were contaminated with entrained solvent. A solid phase extraction system based upon an extraction chromatography system was used to remove Pu(IV). Detection limits of 26 μmol·dm−3 (0.88 μg·cm−3) or 7 μmol·dm−3 (0.24 μg·cm−3) for, respectively, a 1 and 4 cm path length cell were obtained. Precisions of RSD=1.4% and 19.5% were obtained at the extremes of the calibration curve (5 mmol·dm−3 and 50 μmol·dm−3 H2O2, 1 cm cell). The introduction of the extraction and clean-up stages had a negligible effect upon the precision of the determination. The stability of an organic phase sample was tested and no loss of analyte could be discerned over a period of at least 5 days. The presence of trace levels of reductants interfered with the determination, e.g., hydrazine (<2 mmol·dm−3), but this effect was ameliorated by increasing the concentration of the colormetric reagent.  相似文献

In this work, the hyphenation of the multisyringe flow injection analysis technique with a 100-cm-long pathlength liquid core waveguide has been accomplished. The Cl/Hg(SCN)2/Fe3+ reaction system for the spectrophotometric determination of chloride (Cl) in waters was used as chemical model. As a result, this classic analytical methodology has been improved, minimizing dramatically the consumption of reagents, in particular, that of the highly biotoxic chemical Hg(SCN)2. The proposed method features a linear dynamic range composed of two steps between (1) 0.2–2 and (2) 2–8 mg Cl L−1, thus extended applicability due to on-line sample dilution (up to 400 mg Cl L−1). It also presents improved limits of detection and quantification of 0.06 and 0.20 mg Cl L−1, respectively. The coefficient of variation and the injection throughput were 1.3% (n = 10, 2 mg Cl L−1) and 21 h−1. Furthermore, a very low consumption of reagents per Cl determination of 0.2 μg Hg(II) and 28 μg Fe3+ has been achieved. The method was successfully applied to the determination of Cl in different types of water samples. Finally, the proposed system is critically compared from a green analytical chemistry point of view against other flow systems for the same purpose.  相似文献

A simple and fast flow injection fluorescence quenching method for the determination of iron in water has been developed. Fluorimetric determination is based on the measurement of the quenching effect of iron on salicylic acid fluorescence. An emission peak of salicylic acid in aqueous solution occurs at 409 nm with excitation at 299 nm. The carrier solution used was 2 × 10−6 mol L−1 salicylic acid in 0.1 mol L−1 NH4+/NH3 buffer solution at pH 8.5. Linear calibration was obtained for 5–100 μg L−1 iron(III) and the relative standard deviation was 1.25 % (n = 5) for a 20 μL injection volume iron(III). The limit of detection was 0.3 μg L−1 and the sampling rate was 60 h−1. The effect of interferences from various metals and anions commonly present in water was also studied. The method was successfully applied to the determination of low levels of iron in real samples (river, sea, and spring waters).  相似文献

UV/H2O2/micro-aeration is a newly developed process based on UV/H2O2. Halogenated pesticide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) photochemical degradation in aqueous solution was studied under various solution conditions. The UV intensity, initial 2,4-D concentrations and solution temperature varied from 183.6 to 1048.7 μW·cm−2, from 59.2 to 300.0 μg·L−1 and from 15 to 30°C, respectively. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and pH ranged from 0 to 50 mg·L−1 and 5 to 9, and different water quality solutions (tap water, distilled water and deionized water) were examined in this study. With initial concentration of about 100 μg·L−1, more than 95.6% of 2,4-D can be removed in 90 min at intensity of UV radiation of 843.9 μW·cm−2, H2O2 dosage of 20 mg·L−1, pH 7 and room temperature. The removal efficiency of 2,4-D by UV/H2O2/micro-aeration process is better than UV/H2O2 process. The photodecomposition of 2,4-D in aqueous solution follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. 2,4-D is greatly affected by UV irradation intensity, H2O2 dosage, initial 2,4-D concentration and water quality solutions, but it appears to be slightly influenced by pH and temperature. There is a linear relationship between rate constant k and UV intensity and initial H2O2 concentration, which indicates that higher removal capacity can be achieved by the improvement of these factors. Finally, a preliminary cost analysis reveals that UV/H2O2/micro-aeration process is more cost-effective than the UV/H2O2 process in the removal of 2,4-D from drinking water.  相似文献

A rapid and simple sample preparation method for plutonium determination in environmental samples by inductively coupled plasma sector field mass spectrometry (ICP-SFMS) and alpha-spectrometry is described. The developed procedure involves a selective CaF2 co-precipitation for preconcentration followed by extraction chromatographic separation. The proposed method effectively eliminates the possible interferences in mass spectrometric analysis and also removes interfering radionuclides that may disturb alpha-spectrometric measurement. For 239Pu, 240Pu and 241Pu limits of detection of 9.0 fg·g−1 (0.021 mBq), 1.7 fg·g−1 (0.014 mBq) and 3.1 fg·g−1 (11.9 mBq) were achieved by ICP-SFMS, respectively, and 0.02 mBq by alpha-spectrometry. Results of certified reference materials agreed well with the recommended values.  相似文献

A simple, selective and sensitive kinetic method for the determination of nitrite in water was developed. The method is based on the catalytic effect of nitrite on the oxidation of methylene blue (MB) with bromate in a sulfuric acid medium. During the oxidation process, absorbance of the reaction mixture decreases with the increasing time, inversely proportional to the nitrite concentration. The reaction rate was monitored spectrophotometrically at λ = 666 nm within 30 s of mixing. Linear calibration graph was obtained in the range of 0.005–0.5 μg mL−1 with a relative standard deviation of 2.09 % for six measurements at 0.5 μg mL−1. The detection limit was found to be 0.0015 μg mL−1. The effect of different factors such as acidity, time, bromate concentration, MB concentration, ionic strength, and order of reactants additions is reported. Interference of the most common foreign ions was also investigated. The optimum experimental conditions were: 0.38 mol L−1 H2SO4, 5 × 10.4 mol L−1 KBrO3, 1.25 × 10.5 mol L−1 MB, 0.3 mol L−1 sodium nitrate, and 25°C. The proposed method was conveniently applied for the determination of nitrite in spiked drinking water samples.  相似文献

Beta autoradiography and progressive acid leaching have been used to investigate the distribution of Ir in silicates in the presence of carbon phases as well as without these phases. Determinations of Ir by neutron activation analysis gave results for the Ir content of basaltic glasses after experiments at 1 bar of 82 ng·g−1 (NNO buffer), 30 ng·g−1 (CCO equilibrium) and 37 ng·g−1 (IW buffer). Iridium solubility in basaltic melt in the presence of graphite and (CO, CO2) fluid increased from 1.6 μg·g−1 at 0.5 kbar to 6.2 μg·g−1 at 2 kbar. These data give Ir partition coefficients between solid metal and liquid silicate in the presence of carbon phases. Discrete (Ir, Fe) rich phases were discovered in the basaltic melt at 3 kbar and 1250°C preventing the determination of solubility data. Our results provide clear evidence that the iridium solubility in a basaltic melt in the presence of carbon is higher than the solubility of iridium in melts without carbon.  相似文献

Summary An ion-chromatographic procedure is described for the determination of selenium (VI) at μg L−1 level in the presence of anions and heavy metal ions. Maximum permissible concentrations and effects from each interfering substance were investigated for the Se concentration range 12.5–1,000 μg L−1. The method, optimized for the detection of SeO 4 2− , gives results suitable for speciation analysis. Total selenium can be determined after complete conversion to selenate ion by oxidation with KMnO4. The detection limit of selenium is 4.8 μg L−1 (0.96 ng for 200 μL sample). A rapid, accurate, and precise method is described for the determination of Pb in wine using continuous-flow hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (CF-HGAFS). Sample pretreatment consists of ten-fold dilution of wine followed by direct plumbane generation in the presence of 0.1 mol L−1 HCl and 1% m/v K3[Fe(CN)6] with 1% m/v NaBH4 as reducing agent. An aqueous standard calibration curve is recommended for Pb quantification in wine sample. The method provides a limit of detection and a limit of quantification of 0.3 μg L−1 and 1 μg L−1, respectively. The relative standard deviation varies between 2–6% (within-run) and 4–11% (between-run) at 3–30 μg L−1 Pb levels in wine. Good agreement has been demonstrated between results obtained by CF-HGAFS and direct electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry in analyses of red and white wines within the concentration range of 9.2–25.8 μg L−1 Pb.  相似文献

A routine-method for the determination of bromine and iodine in environmental water by neutron activation is presented. The elements are isolated by isotope exchange between the irradiated sample and a solution of Br2 or I2 CCl4. The method is not sensitive to the chemical species in which the halogen is present. The lower limit of the determination is 1.0 μg Br·1−1 and 0.1 μgI·1−1.  相似文献

A differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) method for the determination of bromate in drinking water, after pre-concentration on γ-Al2O3, is proposed. The reduction peak of bromate has been observed at the potential E p -−1.6 V in an ammonia buffer as a supporting electrolyte. The method has been successfully applied to determine a bromate concentration of 2.5 μg·l−1 in drinking water (RSD=6.1%, n=7). A sample pre-treatment with a column filled with mixed cation-exchange resin in Ag, Ba and H forms was needed before pre-concentration of bromate on alumina.  相似文献

The determination of gold is based on the photoexcitation reaction 197Au(γ,γ’)197mAu with the half-life of 7.73 seconds and energy of emitted gamma-rays of 279 keV. Three 100 ml aliquots of coarsely ground Au-ore (grains <2 mm) corresponding to ca. 150–180 g were irradiated for 20 seconds with bremsstrahlung of maximum energy 10 MeV produced by a microtron at the electron beam current of 30–40 μA, 1–10 times reactivation was applied. After 3 seconds of decay, samples were measured for 20 seconds using scintillation or semiconductor gamma-spectrometry with the detection limits for an ideal sample down to 0.5 μg·g−1 and 0.1–0.2 μg·g−1 of Au, respectively. Content of U and Th undergoing photo-fission increases the detection limits several times.  相似文献

The method of deposition from solutions was used to synthesize [RhL 4Cl2]HSO4 · nH2SO4 · mH2O complex salts (L = Py, γ-picoline), n ≈ 0.5−0.6, m ≈ 5−6. According to the data of X-ray phase analysis, the crystal structure of these salts is formed by layers of cations separated by layers consisting of anions molecules of sulfuric acid and water connected through a system of hydrogen bonds. Calorimetric methods were used to study phase transitions and the range of thermal stability of salts. The method of 1H NMR spectroscopy discovered that protons within the {HSO4 · nH2SO4 · mH2O} subsystem featured enhanced conductivity. Conductivity studies showed that trans-[RhL 4Cl2]HSO4 · nH2SO4 · mH2O samples had high proton conductivity.  相似文献

Slurry sampling electrothermal atomic absorption (SS ETAAS) was applied to the development of a sensitive and precise method for selenium determination in infant foods without sample pretreatment. Suspensions prepared in a medium containing 0.1% Triton X-100, 0.5 or 5% v/v concentrated HNO3 were directly introduced into the furnace. The accuracy of the procedure was confirmed by analysis of a standard reference material and comparison with hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometric (HGAAS) procedure. The characteristic mass is 44 pg and detection limit 0.43 μg·l−1.  相似文献

Summary Gas chromatographic conditions for determining eight phenylurea (chlortoluron, diuron, fluometuron, isoproturon, linuron, metabenzthiazuron, metobromuron and monuron) and one sulfonylurea (chlorsulfuron) herbicides were assessed. Degradation products of the herbicides formed in the injector were used for identification. Most phenylureas formed their respective carbamic acid methyl esters, metabenzthiazuron formed an aminobenzothiazol and chlorsulfuron formed an aminotriazine plus a phenylsulfonamide. On-column injection of standards using a BP10 capillary column was evaluated to identify the chromatographic behaviour. Detection limits ranged from 0.05 ng for chlorsulfuron to 3 ng for monuron with the NPD and, from 0.01 ng for chlorsulfuron to 5 ng for metabenzthiazuron with the ECD. The RSDs (n=4) were lower than 4% at the 12–25 ng level. The method was applied to the analysis of surface waters extracted with C18 Empore disks with recoveries higher than 85%. Each herbicide could be determined in water down to 0.1 μg·L−1. Chlortoluron was found (11.4 μg·L−1) in a water sample and its presence was confimed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.  相似文献

Summary A procedure has been developed for the determination, in <12 min, of several stimulants (amphetamine, ephedrine, methoxyphenamine, phenylephrine and phenylpropanolamine) in spiked urine samples after direct injection, using a hybrid micellar mobile phase of 0.15 M sodium dodecyl sulfate and 3% pentanol at pH 7, on a C18 column with UV detection. Recoveries were 94–102% and limits of detection 4.5 ng·mL−1 for methoxyphenamine and 0.39 μg·mL−1 for amphetamine, similar to those obtained for aqueous solutions. Linearity reached 0.99 and intermediate precision was <8.4 and 5.3, for the two different concentrations tested.  相似文献

Summary A new 80 μm Carboxen-polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fiber for solid phase microextraction (SPME) was tested for the enrichment of volatile organic compounds from water and air. Detection limits between 13 ng L−1 (CH2Cl2) and 0.1 ng L−1 (CHCl2Br and CHClBr2) for the combination: Carboxen-PDMS fiber and GC-ECD and between 35 ng L−1 and 45 ng L−1 (BTEX compounds) for the combination: Carboxen-PDMS and GC-FID using the headspace procedure were determined. Comparisons with the 100 μm PDMS fiber and further coatings show the advantages of the Carboxen-PDMS fiber with respect to extraction efficiency. Disadvantages of the new fiber compared with the 100 μm PDMS fiber are poorer repeatability and prolongation of equilibrium time. Distribution coefficients of the BTEX compounds between aqueous solution and SPME fiber coating were calculated and compared with the results of other researchers and with octanol-water partition coefficients.  相似文献
