Spectral Talbot effect in full-duty-cycle sampled fiber Bragg grating is proposed and numerically demonstrated for the first time. Based on analysis and simulations, it is shown that high-performance comb filters can be realized with the proposed structure. Moreover, it is found that channel count scales linearly with the number of samples and that high-quality filtering is still available with some fabrication errors. 相似文献

We derive the general conditions for which spectral Talbot phenomena, both integer and fractional self-imaging, can be observed in sampled arbitrarily chirped fiber Bragg gratings. These results are a generalization of those previously reported in [C. Wang, J. Azaña, L.R. Chen, Opt. Lett. 29(14) (2004) 1590] in which spectral Talbot phenomena were observed in sampled linearly chirped fiber Bragg gratings. We confirm our theoretical derivations with numerical simulations. 相似文献

A novel type of sampled fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) written in polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) is proposed. The reflection spectrum, time delay, and group velocity dispersion (GVD) of the gratings are analyzed. In addition, the reflection spectrum is optimized by apodization. The scheme of multi-wavelength output based on the gratings is proposed, which could be used as a multi-wavelength polarization filter in the density wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) system. 相似文献

Group-delay ripple (GDR) introduced by systematic and random errors in chirped fiber Bragg grating fabrication is the most significant impediment to application of these devices in optical communication systems. We suggest and demonstrate a novel iterative procedure for GDR correction by subsequent UV exposure by use of a simple solution of the inverse problem for the coupled-wave equation. Our method is partly based but does not fully rely on the accuracy of this solution. In the experiment we achieved substantial reduction of the low-frequency group-delay ripple, from +/- 15 to +/- 2 ps, which resulted in dramatic improvement of the optical signal-to-noise-ratio system penalty, from 7 to less than 1 dB, for a chirped fiber Bragg grating used as a dispersion compensator in a 40-Gbit/s carrier-suppressed return-to-zero system. 相似文献

We propose a new multiplexing technique using amplitude-modulated chirped fiber Bragg gratings that have an identical center Bragg wavelength. Each grating is inscribed with a unique amplitude modulation that allows them to be multiplexed with complete overlapping within a certain bandwidth. To demodulate the multiplexed signal, the discrete wavelet transform is employed. Concurrently, a wavelet denoising technique is used to reduce the noise. This proposed multiplexing technique has been verified through strain measurements. Experimental results showed that for strains applied up to 1250 microepsilon the absolute error and cross-talk are within +/-20 microepsilon and 16 microepsilon, respectively. A strain resolution of 4 microepsilon is obtained. 相似文献

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel switchable and discretely tunable comb filter based on a thermally induced linearly chirped fiber Bragg grating. Experimentally we achieved a thermally induced optical bandpass filter that has eight switchable passband peaks with peak separations of 1.6 and 3.2 nm, a very narrow bandwidth (as small as 10 pm) of each peak, a tunable range of 16.5 nm, and a greater than 25 dB rejection ratio. Two spectral peaks separated by only 0.8 nm were also obtained with this comb filter. This filter provides the unique advantages of an all-fiber structure, switchable spectral peaks, independent tuning of the center wavelength and wavelength spacing of the spectral peaks, low polarization sensitivity, simple structure, ease of fabrication, and low cost. 相似文献

建立了具有两个取样周期略有不同的取样光纤光栅反射镜的Vernier波长调谐机制的光纤分布布拉格反射式激光器的数值仿真模型,对激光器的输出特性进行了分析. 研究了激光器输出特性随着激光器前后光栅反射镜波长以及前后光栅反射镜反射率的变化关系. 提出了对两取样光栅反射率的优化配置方案,可以使输出激光的边模抑制比有所提高;同时对波长调节方式也进行了探讨;进行了实验研究.

Positive and negative coefficients are obtained through conversion from phase modulation to intensity modulation by passing the phase-modulated optical carriers through chirped fiber Bragg gratings having group-delay responses with positive and negative slopes. We propose a new method for the development of a tunable optical bandpass filter (TOBF) based on a linearly chirped fiber Bragg grating (LCFBG). A NiCr wire heater is used to heat the LCFBG at a small point to introduce a narrow passband within the stop band of the LCFBG. The central wavelength of the passband is tuned by scanning the wire heater along the LCFBG. As an example demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method, we demonstrate a TOBF with a very small 3-dB bandwidth of approximately 7 pm, a tuning range of 16.4 nm, and a rejection ratio of more than 25 dB. Compared with previously reported tunable-fiber-based bandpass filters, this method provides the advantages of a large tuning range, continuous tunability, a switchable passband, a simple tuning mechanism, low cost, and narrow bandwidth. 相似文献

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a simple and flexible scheme for a wavelength-spacing-tunable multichannel filter exploiting a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating based on a symmetrical modification of the chirp ratio. Symmetrical bending along a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating attached to a flexible cantilever beam induces a variation of the chirp ratio and a reflection chirp bandwidth of the grating without a center wavelength shift. Accordingly, the wavelength spacing of a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating is continuously controlled by the reflection chirp bandwidth variation of the grating corresponding to the bending direction, which allows for realization of an effective wavelength-spacing-tunable multichannel filter. Based on the proposed technique, we achieve the continuous tunability of the wavelength spacing in a range from 1.51 to 6.11 nm, depending on the bending direction of the cantilever beam. 相似文献

本文提出了一种基于光纤叠栅的全光纤声光可调谐滤波器, 与普通光纤布拉格光栅型全光纤声光可调谐滤波器相比, 该滤波器能够对光纤叠栅的两个中心波长进行同步调制. 理论分析了声波频率和声致应变幅度对基于光纤叠栅的全光纤声光可调谐滤波器的传输光谱的影响, 结果表明, 各阶次反射峰分别以两个主反射峰为中心呈对称关系, 且主反射峰与其所调制出的次反射峰之间的波长间隔与声波频率成正比, 而两个主反射峰所调制出的同阶次反射峰之间的波长间隔与声波频率无关; 声致应变幅度主要影响主反射峰及次反射峰的反射率的变化. 实验中, 分别测试声波频率为390 kHz和710 kHz的基于光纤叠栅的全光纤声光可调谐滤波器的传输光谱, 实验结果的变化趋势与仿真分析结果相一致. 相似文献

The novel multi-wavelength fiber ring laser based on a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating with a single SOA or a hybrid gain medium is demonstrated, respectively. In case of a hybrid gain medium, the SMSR improvement of ~ 5 dB was obtained when compared with the system with a single SOA. We propose and demonstrate a wavelength tunable wavelength division multiplexing channel isolation filter based on two concatenated chirped long-period fiber gratings (LPGs). An intergrating space (IGS), deliberately introduced between the two gratings, provides an extra phase difference between the core and cladding modes. Changing this phase by heating the IGS without affecting the gratings tunes the channels. A theoretical account of the filter action is also presented and the results are found to be in excellent agreement with the experiments. Unlike the filters based on normal concatenated chirped LPGs without an IGS, the current filter shows a linear tuning over an increased spectral range. 相似文献

In this paper, the reflection spectra of a phase-only sampled fiber Bragg grating is obtained by optimizing its phase profile. The standard simulated annealing method is improved for optimization, and superior phase profiles which contain as few segments as possible per sampling period are obtained for 8, 16 and 32 identical channels. As very well known, increased number of WDM channels results in higher grating length and refractive index modulation amplitude. It is observed that application of these phase profiles limits the increases in both of these parameters considerably. 相似文献

This paper presents an analysis of how to obtain narrow transmission band in the centre of the spectrum of the arbitrary chirped fiber Bragg grating (ACFBG). Grating chirp coefficient and refractive index profile are the critical parameters in contributing to performance of fiber Bragg grating. The reflection spectra and transmission band were analyzed with different refractive index profile. Apodization techniques are used to get optimized reflection spectra.
