Pair production of the doubly charged leptons X±± via vector boson fusion (γγ, Zγ and WW) at the large hadron collider is studied. Our numerical results show that the cross section via Zγ fusion is very small. For the center-of-mass energy √s= 14 TeV and Mx = 200 650 GeV, the values of the cross sections σγγ and σww are in the ranges of 5.2 fb-0.04 fb and 20.2 fb 1.2 fb, respectively.  相似文献

In the parameter space allowed by the electroweak precision measurement data, we consider the contributions of the new particles predicted by the littlest Higgs model to the Higgs boson associated production with top quark pair in the future high energy linear e+e- collider (ILC). We find that the contributions mainly come from the new gauge bosons ZH and BH. For reasonable values of the free parameters, the absolute value of the relative correction parameter δσ/σSM can be significanly large, which might be observed in the future ILC experiment with √{S}=800 GeV.  相似文献

Inclusive standard model Higgs boson pair production and subsequent decay to same-sign dileptons via weak gauge W+/- bosons at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has the capability to determine the Higgs boson self-coupling, lambda. The large top quark mass limit is found not to be a good approximation for the signal if one wishes to utilize differential distributions in the analysis. We find that it should be possible at the LHC with design luminosity to establish that the standard model Higgs boson has a nonzero self-coupling and that lambda/lambda(SM) can be restricted to a range of 0-3.7 at 95% confidence level if its mass is between 150 and 200 GeV.  相似文献

These proceedings summarize the sensitivity for the CMS and ATLAS experiments at the LHC to discover a Standard Model Higgs boson with relatively low integrated luminosity per experiment. The most relevant discovery modes are dealt with. A brief discussion on the expected performance from these experiments in searches for one or more of the Higgs bosons from the minimal version of the supersymmetric theories is also included.   相似文献

In several scenarios of Beyond Standard Model physics, the invisible decay mode of the Higgs boson is an interesting possibility. The search strategy for an invisible Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), using weak boson fusion process, has been studied in detail, by taking into account all possible backgrounds. Realistic simulations have been used in the context of CMS experiment to devise a set of event selection criteria which eventually enhances the signal contribution compared to the background processes in characteristic distributions. In cut-based analysis, multi-jet background is found to overwhelm the signal in the finally selected sample. With an integrated luminosity of 10 fb−1, an upper limit of 36% on the branching ratio can be obtained for Higgs boson with a mass of 120 GeV/c2 for LHC energy of 14 TeV. Since the analysis essentially depends on the background estimation, detailed studies have been done to determine the background rates from real data.  相似文献

The littlest Higgs (LH) model is the most economical one among various little Higgs models, which predicts the existence of the charged scalars Φ^±. In this paper, we study the production of the charged Higgs boson Φ^- with single top quark via the process gb →tΦ^- at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The numerical results show that the production cross section is sma/ler than 0.2 pb in most of the parameters space, it is very difficult to observe the signatures of the charged scalars via the process pp → gb + X → tΦ^- + X at the LHC experiments. However, it can open a window to distinguish the top-pions in the TC2 model or charged Higgs in the MSSM from Φ^±.  相似文献

Improved possibilities to find the Higgs boson in diffractive events, having less hadronic activity, depend on whether the cross section is large enough. Based on the soft color interaction models that successfully describe diffractive hard scattering at DESY HERA and the Fermilab Tevatron, we find that only a few diffractive Higgs events may be produced at the Tevatron, but we predict a substantial rate at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.  相似文献

In this paper we calculate the production of a charged top pion in association with a $W$ boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the context of the topcolor assisted technicolor model. We find that the cross section of $pp \rightarrow b\bar{b} \rightarrow W^{\pm}\pi_t^{\mp}$ is roughly corresponding to the result of the process $pp \rightarrow b\bar{b} \rightarrow W^{\pm}H^{\mp}$ in the minimal supersymmetric standard model, and for reasonable ranges of the parameters, the cross section can reach a few hundred fb. The $W^{\pm}\pi_t^{\mp}$ signal should be clearly visible at LHC unless $\pi_t^{\pm}$ is very heavy.  相似文献

We study the process at large , where it represents the dominant production mode of charged Higgs boson pairs in a Type II 2-Higgs doublet model, including the minimal supersymmetric standard model. The ability to select this signal would in principle enable the measurements of some triple-Higgs couplings, which in turn would help understanding the structure of the extended Higgs sector. We outline a selection procedure that should aid in disentangling the Higgs signal from the main irreducible background. This exploits a signature made up by four b-quark jets, two light-quark jets, a -lepton and missing energy. While, for and over a significant range above the top mass, a small signal emerges already at the Large Hadron Collider after 100 fb-1, ten times as much luminosity would be needed to perform accurate measurements of Higgs parameters in the above final state, rendering this channel a primary candidate to benefit from the so-called Super Large Hadron Collider option, for which a tenfold increase in instantaneous luminosity is currently being considered.Received: 3 September 2003, Published online: 22 January 2004  相似文献

The twin Higgs mechanism has recently been proposed to solve the little hierarchy problem. In the context of the left-right twin Higgs (LRTH) model, we discuss single production of the new charged gauge boson WH^- , which is predicted by the left-right twin Higgs model, in association with top quark at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It is found that, for a typical nonzero value of mass mixing parameter M = 150 GeV in the LRTH model, the production cross section is in the range of 3 ×10^-2 - 6.07×10^3 fb at the LHC. As long as the WH^- is not too heavy, the possible signatures of the heavy charged gauge boson might be detected at the LHC experiments.  相似文献

The dominance of the h-->etaeta decay mode for the intermediate-mass Higgs boson is highly motivated to solve the little hierarchy problem and to ease the tension with the precision data. However, the discovery modes for m(h) approximately <150 GeV, h-->gammagamma, and W/Zh-->(lnu/ll)(bb), will be substantially affected. In this Letter, we show that h-->etaeta-->4b is complementary and we can use this decay mode to detect the intermediate Higgs boson at the LHC, via Wh and Zh production. Requiring at least one charged lepton and 4B tags in the final state, we can identify a clean Higgs boson signal for m(h) approximately <150 GeV with a high significance and with a full Higgs mass reconstruction. We use the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model and the simplest little Higgs model for illustration.  相似文献

Type-III seesaw scenario predicts the existence of the heavy charged leptons, which might generate observable signals in future collider experiments. We consider the contributions of these new particles to the process e+e- →HH. We find that, for the large mixing between the light and heavy leptons, these new particles can indeed generate significant contributions to this process.  相似文献

The results from various dijet distributions in proton?Cproton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, with 2010 and 2011 data from the CMS experiment, are presented. The measurements of the dijet mass spectra, centrality ratio, azimuthal decorrelation and angular distribution are shown. Sensitivity of the phenomenological parameters used to model different event generators is also investigated. Prospects for observing evidence for new physics in these distributions are presented.  相似文献
