Summary New complexes of general formulae [Ni(HL)2], [ML]·H2O and [Cu(HL)X] (H2L = pyrrole-2-aldehyde Schiff bases ofS-methyl- andS-benzyldithiocarbazates; X = Cl or Br; M = NiII, CuII, ZnII or CdII) were prepared and characterized by a variety of physicochemical techniques. The Schiff bases coordinate as NS bidentate chelating agents in [Ni(HL)2] and [Cu(HL)X], and as tridentate NNS chelates in [ML] (M = NiII, CuII, ZnII or CdII). Both the [Ni(HL)2] and [NiL] complexes are diamagnetic and square-planar. Based on magnetic and spectroscopic evidence, thiolate sulphur-bridged dimeric square-planar structures are assigned to the [Cu(HL)X] and [ML] (M = NiII or CuII) complexes. The complexes ML (M = ZnII or CdII) are polymeric and octahedral.  相似文献

Four tridentate ONS ligands, namely 2-hydroxyacetophenonethiosemicarbazone (H2L1), the 2-hydroxyacetophenone Schiff base of S-methyldithiocarbazate (H2L2), the 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde Schiff base of S-methyldithiocarbazate (H2L3), and the 2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde Schiff base of S-benzyldithiocarbazate (H2L4), and their complexes of general formula [Ni(HL1)2], [ML] (M?=?NiII or CuII; L?=?L1, L2, L3 and L4), [Co(HL)(L); L?=?L1, L2, L3 and L4] and [ML(B)] (M?=?NiII or CuII; L?=?L2 and L4; B?=?py, PPh3) have been prepared and characterized by physico-chemical techniques. Spectroscopic evidence indicates that the Schiff bases behave as ONS tridentate chelating agents. X-ray crystallographic structure determination of [NiL2(PPh3)] and [CuL4(py)] indicates that these complexes have an approximately square-planar structure with the Schiff bases acting as dinegatively charged ONS tridentate ligands coordinating via the phenoxide oxygen, azomethine nitrogen and thiolate sulfur atoms. The electrochemical properties of the complexes have been studied by cyclic voltammetry.  相似文献

New copper(II) complexes of general formula, Cu(ONS)B (ONS = the di-negatively charged Schiff base, S-benzyl-β-N-(2-hydroxyphenyl) methylendithiocarbazate; B = pyridine, 2,2′-dipyridyl or 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized and characterised by magnetic and spectroscopic measurements. The complex, Cu(ONS)py is four-coordinate and square-planar. Magnetic and spectroscopic data support a five-coordinate, presumably, a trigonal-bipyramidal structure for the [Cu(ONS)dipy] and (Cu(ONS)phen] complexes  相似文献

Summary Complexes of the type M(AcLeu)2 · B2 (M = CoII, NiII or ZnII; B = H2O, py, 3-pic, 4-pic; AcLeu =N-acetyl-DL-leucinate ion) and M(AcLeu)2 B (M = CoII or ZnII and B = o-phen) were prepared and investigated by means of magnetic and spectroscopic measurements. The i.r. spectra of all the complexes are consistent with bidentate coordination of the amino acid to the metal ion. The room temperature solid state electronic spectra indicate that the symmetry of this species is closer toD 4h and that MO6 and MO4N2 chromophores are present in the M(AcLeu)2 · 2 H2O and M(AcLeu)2Bn · x H2O (B = py, 3-pic, 4-pic, n=2 and x=0 for M = NiII; B = o-phen, n=1 and x=0 for M = CoII; B = py, 3-pic, 4-pic, n=1 and x=1 for M = CoII) complexes, respectively. By comparing the Dq values of the amino acid and those of other N-substituted amino acids previously studied, a spectrochemical series of the the cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes is proposed. The1 H n.m.r. spectra of the zinc(II) complexes confirm the proposed stereochemistry.  相似文献

Summary Metal(II) chelates of Schiff bases derived from the condensation of 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydro-3-oxo-N,1-diphenyl-5-(phenylmethylene)-2-naphthalenecarboxamide with o-aminophenol (KAAP), o-aminothiophenol (KAAT) or o-aminobenzoic acid (KAAB) have been prepared and characterized. The complexes are of the type [M(N2X)]2 for M = CuII and M(NX)2·nH2O for M = NiII, CoII and VOII (X = phenolic oxygen, thiophenolic sulphur or carboxylic oxygen; n = 0 or 2). Conductivity data indicate that the complexes are non-ionic. The Schiff bases behave as dibasic tridentate ligands in their copper(II) complexes and as monobasic bidentate ligands in their nickel(II), cobalt(II) and vanadyl(II) complexes. The subnormal magnetic moments of the copper(II) complexes are ascribed to an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction arising from dimerization. Nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes are trans octahedral whereas vanadyl(II) complexes are square pyramidal  相似文献

Summary A novel series of formazan complexes of general formula FoML [H2Fo = 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3,5-diphenylformazan; M = NiII, PdII or PtII; L = NH3, py and Ph3P] are described. The formazan nickel(II) system shows linkage isomerism; one isomer, A, contains an unusual five-membered formazan chelate ring, whereas the other, isomer B, has the usual six-membered ring.13C n.m.r., u.v. and i.r. spectra are presented and interpreted. From these the palladium and platinum complexes appear to contain the six-membered ring of the B type isomer.  相似文献

New complexes of general formula, [M(NNS)Cl] (M = PdII, PtII; NNS = anionic forms of the 6-methyl-2-formylpyridine Schiff bases of S-methyl- and S-benzyldithiocarbazates) have been prepared and characterized by a variety of physico-chemical techniques. Based on conductance and spectral evidence, a square-planar structure is assigned to these complexes. The crystal and molecular structure of the [Pd(mpasme)Cl] complex (mpasme=anionic form of the 6-methyl-2-formylpyridine Schiff base of S-methyldithiocarbazate) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The complex has a distorted square-planar geometry with the ligand coordinated to the palladium(II) ion via the pyridine nitrogen atom, the azomethine nitrogen atom and the thiolate sulfur atom; the fourth coordination position around the palladium(II) ion is occupied by the chloride ligand. The distortion from a regular square-planar geometry is ascribed to the restricted bite angle of the ligand. Both the Schiff bases exhibit strong cytotoxicity against the human ovarian cancer (Caov-3) cell lines, the S-methyl derivative being two times more active than the S-benzyl derivative. The [Pt(mpasme)Cl] complex is moderately active but the palladium(II) complex is weakly active against this cancer. None of the complexes of Hmpsbz are active against Caov-3. The Schiff base, Hmpasme exhibits moderate activity against the bacteria, MRSA, P. aeruginosa and S. typhimurium but is inactive against B. subtilis. Coordination of the ligand with palladium(II) substantially reduces its activity. The Schiff base, Hmpasbz and its palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes are inactive against these bacteria. The Schiff bases and their palladium(II) and platinum (II) complexes are inactive against the pathogenic fungi, C. albican, Aspergillus ochraceous and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.  相似文献

Preparation and properties of the following NiII and CuII complexes of the Schiff base derived from acetophenone and ethylenediamine (BAPE) and also of the mixed NiII and CuII chelates with BAPE and acetylacetone (acac-H) are described: In each case the Schiff base, BAPE, acts as a neutral bidentate ligand. The complexes are characterised by electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibilities, conductivities and elemental analyses. Pseudotetrahedral structure is proposed for M(BAPE)C12, while tetragonal structure for [M(BAPE)(acac)(H2O)2]ClO4 (M = Ni and Cu). The complex [Ni(BAPE) (acac)]ClO4 has been found to be square planar.  相似文献

Abstract

The ligand exchange reaction between [M(phen)3]2+ and [M(DIP)3]2+ (where M is the same and M = FeII or NiII, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, DIP = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline) has been investigated by reversed phase ion-paired chromatography (RP-IPC). The effect of pH and solvent on the ligand-exchange reaction is studied by monitoring the variation in chromatograms with time after mixing. The results have shown that the ligand exchange reaction between [M(phen)3]2+ and [M(DIP)3]2+ takes place in the pH range of 3–8 and the rate of reaction for nickel(II) complexes is about two times slower than that for iron(II) complexes. Experiments on the effect of various solvents on the ligand-exchange reaction have revealed that the rate of reaction is enhanced by the solvent in the following order: (CH3)2CO > CHCl3 ≥ CH2Cl2 > CH3CN > CH3OH. Elemental analysis and UV-visible spectroscopy confirmed that the products obtained from the ligand-exchange reaction are mixed-ligand complexes containing phen and DIP ligands, i.e., [M(phen)2(DIP)]2+ and [M(phen)(DIP)2]2+.  相似文献

The reactions of ruthenium(II) complexes, [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)2(B)] [B = PPh3, pyridine (py) or piperidine (pip)], with bidentate Schiff base ligands derived by condensing salicylaldehyde with aniline, o-, m- or p-toluidine have been carried out. The products were characterised by analytical, i.r., electronic, 1H-n.m.r. and 31P-n.m.r. spectral studies and are formulated as [RuCl(CO)(L)(PPh3)(B)] (L = Schiff base anion; B = PPh3, py or pip). An octahedral structure has been tentatively proposed for the new complexes. The Schiff bases and the new complexes were tested in vitro to evaluate their activity against the fungus Aspergillus flavus.  相似文献

Four novel mixed‐ligand complexes were obtained from the reaction of maleic acid, diimine chelating ligands and Cd(OH)2 or CdO in a mixed solvent of water and methanol. The complexes were characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The results show that all the four complexes are coordination polymers. [Cd(phen)(H2O)(male)]n · 2nH2O ( 1 ) and [Cd(bipy)(H2O)(male)]n · 2nH2O ( 2 ) (male = maleate; phen = 1, 10‐phenanthroline, bipy = 2, 2′‐bipyridine) are isomorphic, and the asymmetric unit is constructed by one CdII atom, a maleate group, a diimine ligand and two crystal water molecules. Each maleate group links two CdII atoms in a bis(bidentate) chelating mode, resulting in a 1D helical chain. Within [Cd(phen)(H2O)2(male)]n · 2nH2O ( 3 ), the maleate group bridges two CdII atoms in a bis(monodentate) chelating mode into a 1D helical chain along the [100] direction. The helical chain is decorated by phen groups alternatively at the two sides, and each phen plane of one chain is inserted in the void space between two adjacent phen ligands from an adjacent chain, resulting in a double zipper‐like chain. The asymmetric unit of [Cd2(phen)2(male)2]n ( 4 ) contains a CdII cation, one phen molecule, and a maleate group, and one bridging maleate group links three CdII atoms resulting in a 2D layer extending in [011] plane. The 2D networks are constructed by four kinds of rings formed by the central metal atom and maleate dianion. The thermostabilities of the four complexes were investigated.  相似文献

Complexes of N-phthaloylglycinate (N-phthgly) and CoII, NiII, CuII, ZnII and CdII containing imidazole (imi), N-methylimidazole (mimi), 2,2-bipyridyl (bipy) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), and tridentate amines such as 2,2,2-terpyridine (terpy) and 2,4,6-(2-pyridyl)s-triazine (tptz), were prepared and characterized by conventional methods, i.r. spectra and by thermogravimetric analysis. For imi and mimi ternary complexes, the general formula [M(imi/mimi)2(N-phthgly)2nH2O, where M = CoII, NiII, CuII and ZnII applies. For CdII ternary complexes with imi, [Cd(imi)3(N-phthgly)2]·2H2O applies. For the bi and tridentate ligands, ternary complexes of the formula [M(L)(N-phthgly)2nH2O were obtained, where M = CoII, NiII, CuII and ZnII; L = bipy, phen, tptz and terpy. In all complexes, N-phthgly acts as a monodentate ligand, coordinating metal ions through the carboxylate oxygen, except for the ternary complexes of CoII, NiII and CuII with mimi and CuII and ZnII with imi, where the N-phthgly acts as a bidentate ligand, coordinating the metal ions through both carboxylate oxygen atoms.  相似文献

Condensation of 2,6-diacetylpyridine (dap) with S-methyldithiocarbazate (smdtc) in a 1:2 molar ratio yields a bicondensed pentadentate Schiff base (H2dapsme) which reacts with K2MCl4 (M = PdII, PtII) giving stable complexes of empirical formula, [M(dapsme)] · 0.5Me2CO. These complexes have been characterized by a variety of physico-chemical techniques. Condensation of dap with smdtc in a 1:1 molar ratio also yields the bicondensed Schiff base (H2dapsme) as the major product, but a mono-condensed one-armed Schiff base (Hmdapsme) is also obtained as a minor product. The latter reacts with K2PdCl4 in an EtOH–H2O mixture yielding a crystalline complex of empirical formula, [Pd(mdapsme)Cl], the crystal structure of which has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The complex has a distorted square-planar structure in which the ligand is coordinated to the palladium(II) ion as a uninegatively charged tridentate chelating agent via the pyridine nitrogen atom, the azomethine nitrogen atom and the thiolate sulfur atom; the oxygen atom of the acetyl group does not participate in coordination.  相似文献

Summary FeIII, CoII, NiII and CuII complexes of a new Schiff base, 2-phenyl-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxalidene-2-aminophenol (PTCAP), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements, and by u.v.-vis., i.r. and e.p.r. spectral observations. The studies indicate an octahedral structure for the complexes with the general formula [ML2] (M = CoII, NiII or CuII.; L = PTCAP) or [M′(OH)L2] (M′ = FeIII). The i.r. spectra suggest that the ligand acts as a tridentate (NNO) donor towards CoII, NiII and CuII, and, in the FeIII complex, one of the two ligand molecules acts as a bidentate (NO) donor and the other as a tridentate donor. The M?ssbauer spectrum of the FeIII complex suggests the presence of a spin equilibrium at room temperature. Cyclic voltammograms are also recorded for the CuII and FeIII complexes.  相似文献

Summary The preparation and characterization of CuII, CoII, NiII and HgII complexes containing 1,4-diphenylthiosemicarbazide (DPhTSC) of the type [Cu(DPhTSC-H)X.H2O]nH2O (X= Cl, Br or Ac; n=0 or 1) · [M(DPhTSC-H)2yH2O] (M=CoII or NiII; y=0 or 1) and [Hg(DPhTSC)Cl2]2 H2O and [Cu(D-PhTSC)2SO4]H2O are reported. The stereochemistry of the complexes have been studied with the help of magnetic and electronic measurements. The anomalous magnetic moments observed in all cases have been explained. The i.r. spectral studies have been used to determine the bonding sites in the complexes.  相似文献

Reactions of ruthenium(II) complexes [RuHX(CO)(EPh3)2(B)] (X = H or Cl; B = EPh3, pyridine (py) or piperidine (pip); E = P or As) with bidentate Schiff base ligands derived by condensingo- hydroxyacetophenone with aniline,o- orp-methylaniline have been carried out. The products were characterized by analytical, IR, electronic and1H-NMR spectral studies and are formulated as [Ru(X)(CO) (L)(EPh3)(B)] (L = Schiff base anion; X = H or Cl; B = EPh3, py or pip; E = P or As). An octahedral structure has been tentatively proposed for the new complexes. The new complexes were tested for their catalytic activities in the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde.  相似文献

A new series of hexacoordinate cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of 5-(2-carboxyphenylazo)-2-thiohydantoin HL having formulae [LM(OAc)(H2O)2] · nH2O (M = CoII, CuII and NiII), [LMCl(H2O)2] · nH2O (M = CoII and NiII), [LCuCl(H2O)]2 · 2H2O, [LCu(H2O)3](ClO4) and [LCu(HSO4)(H2O)2] were isolated and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivities and magnetic susceptibilities, and by i.r., electronic and e.s.r. spectral measurements, as well as by thermal (t.g. and d.t.g.) analyses. The i.r. spectra indicate that the ligand HL behaves as a monobasic tridentate towards the three divalent metal ions via an azo-N, carboxylate-O and thiohydantoin-O atom. The magnetic moments and electronic spectral data suggest an octahedral geometry for CoII complexes, distorted octahedral geometry for both NiII and CuII complexes with a dimeric structure for [LCuCl(H2O)]2 · 2H2O through bridged chloro ligands. The X-band e.s.r. spectra reveal an axial symmetry for the copper(II) complexes with unsymmetrical Ms = ± 1 signal and G-parameter less than four for the dimeric [LCuCl(H2O)]2 · 2H2O. The thermogravimetry (t.g. and d.t.g.) of some complexes were studied; the order and kinetic parameters of their thermal degradation were determined by applying Coats–Redfern method and discussed.  相似文献

Two novel complexes [ML]·(ClO4)2·EtOH·xH2O M = CuII, x = 3; M = NiII, x = 2; L = 1-R-4,7-bis(benzimidazole-2-yl-methyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane, [R = 1-(benzimidazole-2-yl-methyl)benzimidazole-2-yl-methy], were prepared by a one-pot method using the 1,4,7-triazacyclononane ligand (tacn) and 2-chloromethylbenzimidazole as starting materials. The ES-MS and u.v. spectra of the complexes indicate that they are very stable thermodynamically and kinetically in aqueous solution. The crystal structure of the CuII complex shows that the CuII centre is octahedrally coordinated by six nitrogen atoms of three benzimidazoles and tacn.  相似文献
