Four novel ON donor Schiff bases (E)-3-((4-phenoxyphenylimino)methyl)benzene-1,2-diol (HL1),(E)-3-((4-(4-biphenyloxy)phenyliminomethyl)benzene-1,2-diol (HL2), (E)-3-((4-naphthoxyphenylimino)methyl)benzene-1,2-diol (HL3), (E)-3-((4-(2-naphthoxy)phenylimino)methyl)benzene-1,2-diol (HL4) and their copper(II) complexes bis((E)-3-((4-phenoxyphenylimino)methyl)benzene-1,2-diol) copper(II) (Cu(L1)2) bis((E)-3-((4-(4-biphenyloxy)phenylimino)methyl)benzene-1,2-diol) copper(II) (Cu(L2)2), bis((E)-3-((4-naphthoxyphenylimino)methyl)benzene-1,2-diol) copper(II) (Cu(L3)2), bis((E)-3-((4-(2-naphthoxy)phenylimino)methyl)benzene-1,2-diol) copper(II) (Cu(L4)2) have been synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic (FTIR, NMR, UV–visible) and elemental analysis. The crystal structures of HL1, HL2, HL3, and HL4 have been determined, which reveal intramolecular N-H?O (HL1, HL2, HL3, and HL4) hydrogen bonds in the solid state. Keto-amine and enol-imine tautomerism is exhibited by the Schiff bases in solid and solution states. The Schiff bases and their copper(II) complexes have been screened for their biological activities. In antimicrobial assays (antibacterial and antifungal), HL4 showed promising results against all strains through dual inhibition property while the rest of the compounds showed activity against selective strains. On the other hand, in cytotoxic, DPPH, and inhibition of hydroxyl (OH) free radical-induced DNA damage assays, the results were found significantly correlated with each other, i.e. the ligands HL1 and HL2 showed moderate activity while their complexes Cu(L1)2 and Cu(L2)2 exhibited prominent increase in activity. As the results of these assays are supporting each other, it represents the strong positive correlation and antioxidant nature of investigated compounds.  相似文献

Mixed ligand complexes having the formulae Cu(RPO)2Py2, Cu(RPO)2Im2 and Cu(DBO)2Py2 [RPO = resacetophenone oxime, DBO = 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone oxime, Py = pyridine and Im = imidazole] have been synthesized and characterized by UV–Vis, IR, ESR, cyclic voltammetry and magnetic susceptibility methods. Absorption studies revealed that each of these octahedral complexes is an avid binder of calf thymus DNA. The apparent binding constants for mixed ligand complexes are in order of 104–105 M−1. Based on the data obtained in the DNA binding studies a partial intercalative mode of binding is suggested for these complexes. The nucleolytic cleavage activity of the adducts was carried out on double stranded pBR322 circular plasmid DNA by using a gel electrophoresis experiment in the presence and absence of oxidant (H2O2). All the metal complexes cleaved supercoiled DNA by hydrolytic and oxidative paths. The oxidative path dominates the hydrolytic cleavage. The hydrolytic cleavage of DNA is evidenced from the control experiments showing discernable cleavage inhibition in the presence of the hydroxyl radical inhibitor DMSO or the singlet oxygen quencher azide ion.  相似文献

New dinuclear complexes containing CuII atoms in the cavity of a macrocyclic Schiff base were prepared by template condensation of 4-tert-butyl-2,6-diformylphenol with 1,3-diaminopropane in the presence of CuII trimethylacetate and chloride as well as by extra-ligand exchange. The mononuclear CuII complex with two 1,3-diaminopropane molecules can serve as an intermediate in this template synthesis. The reaction of CuII trimethylacetate with the unsymmetrical macrocyclic Schiff base synthesized earlier afforded a new dinuclear copper(ii) complex with the amine and imine nitrogen atoms in the coordination sphere. The structures of the new complexes were established by X-ray diffraction analysis and studied by the density functional theory (gradient-corrected PBE functional, TZ2p basis set).  相似文献

Mixed ligand complexes of the type MLL′Cl2 (where M?=?Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II), L?=?ligand derived from the reaction between benzofuran-2-carbohydrazide and 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde (TMeOBFC), and L′?=?ortho-phenylenediamine (opd)/2,6-diaminopyridine (2,6-dap)) have been synthesized. The complexes have been characterized by analytical data, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, DART-MS and ESR spectral data, and magnetic studies. Molar conductance values indicate that the complexes are non-electrolytic in DMF. Antibacterial and antifungal activities of the ligands and complexes have been screened against bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus and against fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus.  相似文献

A series of novel binuclear ferro- and antiferromagnetic Cu(2+) chelates of structurally broadly varied Schiff bases (derived from o-tosylamino(hydroxyl)benzaldehydes and monoalkylated o-phenylenediamine, o-aminophenol, o-aminothiophenol, 1,2-diaminobenzimidazole, 1-aminobenzimidazoline-2-thione) and β-diketimines (derived from 2,6-di-i-Pr-aniline) has been prepared. The tautomerism of the ligands and structureof their copper complexes have been studied with the use of IR, 1H NMR EPR and EXAFS spectroscopy. Molecular and crystal structure of a β-diketimine copper dimer has been determined by X-ray crystallography. The magnetic measurements (2–300?K) performed for all the complexes showed that the ferro- and antiferromagnetic character of the exchange interaction depends both on the structure of the coordination site (origin of the ligating centers) and the structure of the ligands (in particular, on the type of the cycle annelated to the bridging fragment). Whereas S-binding metal chelates 13 (X?=?NTs, Y?=?S, R?=?H) are diamagnetic, the complexes 15 with annelated azole moieties are ferromagnetic.  相似文献

The electrochemical oxidation of anodic nickel, copper, zinc or cadmium in acetonitrile solutions of Schiff bases (HL) derived from H-pyrrole-2-carbaldehyde and substituted anilines gives compounds of general formula ML2. The crystal structure of bis{2-[(4-methylphenyl)iminomethyl]pyrrolato}copper(II) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with a = 9.356(2), b = 16.697(2), c = 14.145(2) Å and β = 108.47(2)°. The crystal structure consists of monomeric molecules in which the central CuN4 unit has distorted square-planar geometry with a dihedral angle of 25.8(3)° between the coordination planes. The IR, 1H NMR and UV-visible spectra of the complexes are discussed and related to the structure.  相似文献

The Schiff bases [H2SBSaD], [H2SBVD] and [H2SBND], derived by the condensation of S-benzyldithiocarbazate and salicylaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde respectively, react with diestertin dichlorides, R2SnCl2 [R=? CH2CH2CO2CH3, ? CH2CH2CO2C2H5 or ? CH2CH2CO2C4H9] in 1:1 molar proportion to yield chlorine-substituted complexes of the type R2Sn(Schiff base), the base being tridentate. The complexes are characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses, IR and 1H NMR spectral studies. The 13C and 119Sn NMR and the tin-carbon coupling constant data reveal the structures of the complexes to be octahedral with trans ester grouping, and bidentate ester linkages. The pentacoordinated complex (CH3)2Sn(SBSaD) was prepared by the reaction of dimethyltin oxide with H2SBSaD in equimolar proportions.  相似文献

Three copper(II) complexes derived from bulky ortho-hydroxy Schiff base ligands, (1)-(3), were synthesized and characterized by chemical analysis, UV-Vis, IR, μeff and mass spectrometry. The solid state structures of compounds (1)-(3) were determined. The solid state X-ray diffraction studies of these compounds show that the geometry is intermediate between square planar and tetrahedral. Moreover, EPR studies in DMF solution at 77 K suggest that the geometry of these complexes in solution is different from that observed in the solid state by X-ray crystallography. Furthermore, cyclic voltammetry studies performed for (1)-(3), indicate a dependence of the cathodic potentials upon conformational and electronic effects.  相似文献

Copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of Schiff bases obtained by condensation of amoxicillin and cephalexin with salicylaldehyde/pyridoxal were prepared and characterized by microanalytical, thermogravimetric, magnetic and spectroscopic data. All the complexes were found to be six‐coordinate and containing two water molecules. The electron paramagnetic resonance spectral lines exhibited rhombic distortion from axial symmetry, with g|| > g? > ge, in the copper(II) complexes. The geometry of the zinc(II) complexes appears to be octahedral. All the compounds under investigation showed antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity showed the following trend: copper(II) complexes > zinc(II) complexes > Schiff base ligands > parent drugs. The copper(II) complexes with the Schiff bases derived from cephalexin showed substantially enhanced activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa compared with the parent drug. All the copper complexes were also found to be active against kaolin paw oedema, whereas the parent drugs were inactive. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Five new mixed ligand coper(II) complexes, viz. [Cu(SAA)(H2O)] (1), [Cu(SAA)(MeImH)] (2), [Cu(SAA)(EtImH)] (3), [Cu(SAA)(BenzImH)] (4) and [Cu(SAA)(MebenzImH)] (5), where SAA = salicylideneanthranilic acid, MeImH = 2-methylimidazole, EtImH = 2-ethylimidazole, BenzImH = benzimidazole, MebenzImH = 2-methylbenzimidazole, have been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis, FAB mass spectrometry, magnetic susceptibility, X-band EPR, electronic spectroscopy, IR and cyclic voltammetry. The frozen solution EPR spectra of the complexes have shown axial features. Single crystal X-ray analysis of 2 and 3 has revealed the presence of a distorted square planar geometry (N2O2) in the complexes. The superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity of the present complexes has also been measured and discussed.  相似文献

Three cubane copper(II) clusters, namely [Cu(4)(HL')4] (1), [Cu4L2(OH)2] (2), and [Cu4L2(OMe)2] (3), of two pentadentate Schiff-base ligands N,N'-(2-hydroxypropane-1,3-diyl)bis(acetylacetoneimine) (H3L') and N,N'-(2-hydroxypropane-1,3-diyl)bis(salicylaldimine) (H3L), are prepared, structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography, and their variable-temperature magnetic properties studied. Complex 1 has a metal-to-ligand stoichiometry of 1:1 and it crystallizes in the cubic space group P43n with a structure that consists of a tetranuclear core with metal centers linked by a mu(3)-alkoxo oxygen atom to form a cubic arrangement of the metal and oxygen atoms. Each ligand displays a tridentate binding mode which means that a total of eight pendant binding sites remain per cubane molecule. Complexes [Cu4L2(OH)2] (2) and [Cu4L2(OMe)2] (3) crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pccn and have a cubane structure that is formed by the self-assembly of two {Cu2L}+ units. The variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data in the range 300-18 K show ferromagnetic exchange interactions in the complexes. Along with the ferromagnetic exchange pathway, there is also a weak antiferromagnetic exchange between the copper centers. The theoretical fitting of the magnetic data gives the following parameters: J1 = 38.5 and J2 = -18 cm(-1) for 1 with a triplet (S = 1) ground state and quintet (S = 2) lowest excited state; J1 = 14.7 and J2 = -18.4 cm(-1) for 2 with a triplet ground state and singlet (S = 0) lowest excited state; and J1 = 33.3 and J2 = -15.6 cm(-1) for 3 with a triplet ground state and quintet lowest excited state, where J1 and J2 are two different exchange pathways in the cubane {Cu4O4} core. The crystal structures of 2 * 6 H2O and 3 * 2 H2O * THF show the presence of channels containing the lattice solvent molecules.  相似文献

[MBr(CO)3{κ2(N,O)-pyca}] [M = Mn(1a), Re(1b), pyca = pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde] and [MoCl(η3-C3H4Me-2)(CO)2{κ2(N,O)-pyca}] (1c) react with aminoacid β-alanine to give the corresponding iminopyridine complexes 2a-2c. The same method affords the iminopyridine derivatives from γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) (3a-3c) and 3-aminobenzoic acid (4a-4c). For complexes 2a-2c, 3a, 3c and 4a, the solid state structures have been determined by X-ray crystallography, revealing interesting differences in their hydrogen-bonding patterns in solid state.  相似文献

Thermal and/or photochemical conversion of a series of copper(II) complexes containing mixed dithiocarbamato–alcohol ligands, CuII(Et2dtc)+ . . . Y (Y=ClO4, NO3), into CuII(Et2dtc)Cl in chloroalkane/alcohol solutions, where chloroalkane=CCl4, CHCl3 or CH2Cl2 and alcohol=MeOH, EtOH or i-BuOH, proceeds in chloroalkanes. Both reactions follow a similar pathway which is more effective the stronger the acceptor properties of chloroalkanes and the weaker the coordinating abilities of alcohols are. A detailed reaction mechanism is proposed which well fits the experimental results obtained by EPR and UV–VIS spectra and quantum yields.  相似文献

The role of ancillary ligands, namely imidazole (im), pyridine (py), 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) in the assembly of copper(II) dipicolinate complexes are presented. Mononuclear complexes are observed in the case of monodentate ligands. The mononuclear complex [Cu(im)3L]·4H2O (1) (L = dipicolinate anion) has a distorted octahedral structure with Z′ = 2, whereas [CuL(py)(H2O)]·2H2O (2) adopts distorted square pyramidal geometry. The bidentate ligands bpy and phen favor the formation of dinuclear complexes. The dinuclear complex [CuL(bpy)(μ-L)Cu(bpy)(H2O)]·9H2O (3) has one carbonyl oxygen atom of a carboxylate group of dipicolinate acting as a bridging ligand to the copper site that is devoid of a coordinated water molecule. The complex has an angle of 83.55° between the plane of L and bpy attached to one copper site, whereas it has an angle of 78.13° between the plane L and bpy attached to the other copper site. A 1,10-phenanthroline containing dinuclear copper(II) dipicolinate complex, [Cu(phen)(H2O)(μ-L)Cu(phen)2][CuL2]·12H2O (4), has been structurally characterized. It has an unusual carboxylate bridge.  相似文献

A series of metal complexes of Schiff bases derived from condensation of sulfa-guanidine with 1-benzoylacetone (H2L1), 2-hydroxybenzophenol (H2L2), dibenzoylmethane (H2L3), 5-methylisatine (H2L4), and 1-methylisatine (H2L5) have been synthesized. The complexes are characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment measurements, IR, UV–Vis, 1H NMR, and ESR spectra, as well as thermogravimetric analysis. The low molar conductance values indicate the complexes are nonelectrolytes. IR and 1H NMR spectra show that H2L1–H2L5 are coordinated to metal ions by two bidentate centers. Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes display paramagnetic behavior, whereas the Zn(II)-complex was diamagnetic. All studies confirm the formation of an octahedral geometry for [Cu2L1(AcO)2(H2O)6] · 3H2O (1), [Mn2L4(AcO)2(H2O)6] · 2H2O (6), [Ni2L4(AcO)2(H2O)6] · 2H2O (8), a tetrahedral geometry for [Cu2L2(AcO)2(H2O)2] (2), [Cu2(L4)2] (4), [Co2(L4)2] · 2H2O (7) and [ZnHL4(AcO)(H2O)] · 2H2O (9) and a trigonal bipyramid geometry for [Cu2L3(AcO)2(H2O)4] (3) and [Cu2HL5(AcO)3(H2O)3] · H2O (5). H2L4 was most effective on Gram negative, Gram positive bacteria, and fungi (diameters inhibition zone ranged between 10.5–27.5 mm) after 24 and 48 h, respectively. Complex 8 showed moderate antimicrobial activity. Its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans and Aspargllus flavas was 20 mg L–1. The compound proved to be of moderate toxicity and its LD50 was 20 mg L–1.  相似文献

2‐(((2‐Hydroxy‐3‐methoxyphenyl)methylene)amino)‐2(hydroxymethyl)‐1,3‐propanediol (LH4, as abbreviation) reacts with MnCl2 · 4H2O, CoCl2 · 6H2O, and Cu(ClO4)2 · 6H2O to give the new complexes [Mn(LH2)2] ( 1 ), [Co2Cl(H2O)(LH2)2] · 4H2O ( 2 ), and [Cu4(LH2)4(H2O)4] ( 3 ). Complex 1 is formed by the assembly of two molecules of the ligand with one manganese(IV) ion. In the mixed‐valence cobalt complex 2 there is an asymmetry between the coordination spheres of cobalt(II) and cobalt(III). In the tetramer 3 four copper(II) ions attain a distorted tetrahedral configuration surrounded by four molecules of the ligand.  相似文献
