Binuclear complexes for olefin polymerization have attracted great attention due to their unique catalytic properties compared with their mononuclear counterparts. Here a series of p-phenylene-bridgedbis-β-carbonylenamine ligands and their binuclear Ti complexes Ti 2 L 1 – Ti 2 L 3 were prepared and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The binuclear complex Ti 2 L 3 bearing an octylthio sidearm was further investigated by single-crystalX-ray diffraction, which revealed that the ligand was of β-imino enol form, with one titanium atom ligated with six other atoms, forming a deformed octahedral configuration. Furthermore, the ligand in Ti 2 L 3 adopted a cis configuration, which was different from the trans configuration of its m-phenylene-bridged derivatives. These binuclear complexes ( Ti 2 L 1 – Ti 2 L 3 ) could catalyze ethylene polymerization and copolymerization with 1,5-hexadiene(1,5-HD) efficiently under modified methylaluminoxane activation. Compared with the mononuclear complex TiL 5 , the binuclear catalysts were thermally more stable and showed higher activity for ethylene polymerization at higher temperatures. The activity of these titanium complexes for the copolymerization of ethylene with 1,5-HD were over 106 g/mol Ti.h.atm, almost twice as high as for homopolymerization. Compared with the mononuclear analogue TiL 5 and the m-substituted binuclear derivative Ti 2 L 4 , binuclear catalyst Ti 2 L 2 showed higher activity and insertion rate of the comonomer. The activity of Ti 2 L 2 was two to three times higher than that of TiL 5 and Ti 2 L 4 , indicating that p-substituted binuclear catalysts generate clear bimetallic synergistic effect for the copolymerization of ethylene and 1,5-HD. Meanwhile, 1,5-HD takes 1,3-cyclopentyl form in the polymer by 1,3-insertion. The copolymer prepared by binuclear catalysts had higher molecular weight and wider molecular weight distribution than that prepared by the mononuclear catalyst.  相似文献

After modification of silica with benzoyl chloride (BC) to obtain BC-modified SiO2 (BC-SiO2), BC-SiO2/TiCl4 and BC-SiO2/BEM/TiCl4 catalysts were prepared by treating the BC-SiO2 with TiCl4 directly or with butylethylmagnesium (BEM) followed by TiCl4, respectively. During the modification, BC reacts with hydroxyl groups of silica. In this way the corresponding ester is anchored on the silica surface and the CO group is coordinated with Ti and/or Mg. In addition, BEM is converted to MgCl2 in the reaction with TiCl4. These catalysts have reasonable activities for ethylene or propene polymerization.  相似文献

The behavior in propylene polymerization of divalent titanium compounds of type [η6-areneTiAl2Cl8], both as such and supported on activated MgCl2, has been studied and compared to that of the simple catalyst MgCl2/TiCl4. Triethylaluminium was used as cocatalyst. The Ti–arene complexes were active both in the presence and in the absence of hydrogen, in contrast to earlier reports that divalent titanium species are active for ethylene but not for propylene polymerization. 13C-NMR analysis of low molecular weight polymer fractions indicated that the hydrogen activation effect observed for the MgCl2-supported catalysts should be ascribed to reactivation of 2,1-inserted (“dormant”) sites via chain transfer, rather than to (re)generation of active trivalent Ti via oxidative addition of hydrogen to divalent species. Decay in activity during polymerization was observed with both catalysts, indicating that for MgCl2/TiCl4 catalysts decay is not necessarily due to overreduction of Ti to the divalent state during polymerization. In ethylene polymerization both catalysts exhibited an acceleration rather than a decay profile. It is suggested that the observed decay in activity during propylene polymerization may be due to the formation of clustered species that are too hindered for propylene but that allow ethylene polymerization. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A series of Me4Cp–amido complexes {[η51‐(Me4C5)SiMe2NR]TiCl2; R = t‐Bu, 1 ; C6H5, 2 ; C6F5, 3 ; SO2Ph, 4 ; or SO2Me, 5 } were prepared and investigated for olefin polymerization in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO). X‐ray crystallography of complexes 3 and 4 revealed very long Ti N bonds relative to the bonds of 1 . These complexes were employed for ethylene–styrene copolymerizations, styrene homopolymerizations, and propylene homopolymerizations in the presence of MAO. The productivities of the catalysts derived from 3 – 5 were much lower than the productivity of the catalyst derived from 1 for the propylene polymerizations and ethylene–styrene copolymerizations, whereas the styrene polymerization activities were much higher for the catalysts derived from 3 – 5 than for the catalyst derived from 1 . The polymerization behavior of the catalysts derived from the metallocenes 3 – 5 were more reminiscent of monocyclopentadienyl titanocene Cp′TiX3/MAO catalysts than of CpATiX2/MAO catalysts such as 1 containing alkylamido ligands. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Ethene was co- and terpolymerized with 1-octene and styrene using the methylalumoxane (MAO) activated halfsandwich metallocene Me2Si(Me4Cp)(N-t.-butyl)TiCl2(Cp = cyclopentadienyl, Me = methyl) as catalyst. At temperatures of 40 and 60°C styrene concentration was varied in order to investigate the influence of the comonomers. Despite decreasing the overall activity with respect to ethene/1-octene copolymerization, polymerization activity was found to exibit a relative maximum with increasing styrene concentration. An explanation is given taking two different comonomer effects into account. Low styrene concentration promoted higher 1-octene incorporation compared to ethene/1-octene copolymerization but significantly lowered the molecular weight of the terpolymers. With constant ethene and 1-octene concentration it was possible to produce ethene/1-octene/styrene terpolymers with styrene content varying from 0 to 25 mol % and 1-octene content varying from 8 to 21 mol %. All terpolymers were amorphous. With constant ethene content it was found possible to vary their glass transition temperature with 1-octene/styrene molar ratio incorporated in the terpolymer. 13C-NMR spectroscopic microstructure analysis showed that no styrene/1-octene sequences were found in the terpolymer backbone. Furthermore terpolymerizations were conducted successfully incorporating norbornene, 1,5-hexadiene and propene as monomers in terpolymertization with ethene and styrene. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A series of polymer-supported RCpCpTiCl2 (Cp = η5  C5H5; RCp=η5  RC5H4) has been prepared and reduced by i-C3H7MgBr in situ, then used as catalysts in hydrogenation of styrene, isomerization of 1,5-cyclooctadiene and 1,5-hexadiene, and reduction of carbonyl compounds. In some cases, the introduction of a polymer ligand on the Cp ring restricts the aggregation of active sites and the formation of the inactive dimer of the titanocene species, and results in an increase of activity. Regeneration of polymer-supported titanocene catalysts was performed and the results are presented and briefly discussed.  相似文献

The polymerization of 2‐butene and its copolymerization with ethylene have been investigated using four kinds of dichlorobis(β‐diketonato)titanium complexes, [ArN(CH2)3NAr]TiCl2 (Ar = 2,6‐iPr2C6H3) and typical metallocene catalysts. The obtained copolymers display lower melting points than those produced of homopolyethylene under the same polymerization conditions. 13C NMR analysis indicates that 9.3 mol‐% of 2‐butene units were incorporated into the polymer chains with Ti(BFA)2Cl2‐MAO as the catalyst system. With the trans‐2‐butene a higher copolymerization rate was observed than with cis‐2‐butene. A highly regioselective catalyst system for propene polymerization, [ArN(CH2)3NAr]TiCl2 complex using a mixture of triisobutylaluminium and Ph3CB(C6F5)4 as cocatalyst, was found to copolymerize a mixture of 1‐butene and trans‐2‐butene with ethylene up to 3.1 mol‐%. Monomer isomerization‐polymerization proceeds with typical metallocene catalysts to produce copolymers consisting of ethylene and 1‐butene.  相似文献

A series of monocyclopentadienyl titanium complexes containing a pendant amine donor on a Cp group ( A = CpTiCl3, B = CpNTiCl3, C = CpNTiCl2TEMPO, for Cp = C5H5, CpN = C5H4CH2CH2N(CH3)2, and TEMPO = 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidine‐N‐oxyl) are investigated for styrene homopolymerization and ethylene–styrene (ES) copolymerization. When activated by methylaluminoxane at 70 °C, complexes with the amine group ( B and C ) are active for styrene homopolymerization and afford syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS). The copolymerizations of ethylene and styrene with B and C yield high‐molecular weight ES copolymer, whereas complex A yields mixtures of sPS and polyethylene, revealing the critical role that the pendant amine has on the polymerization behavior of the complexes. Fractionation, NMR, and DSC analyses of the ES copolymers generated from B and C suggest that they contain sPS. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Totally sixteen new titanium and zirconium non-Cp complexes supported by Schiff-base, or thiophene diamide ligands have been synthesized. The complexes are obtained by the reaction of M(OPr-i)4(M=Ti,Zr) with the corresponding Schiff-base ligand in 1:1 molar ratio in good yield. The thiophene diamide titanium complex has been prepared from trimethylsilyl amine [N,S,N] ligand and TiCl4 in toluene at 120℃. All complexes are well charac-terized by ^1H NMR, IR, MS and elemental analysis. When activated by excess methylaluminoxane (MAO), complexes show moderate catalytic activity for ethylene polymerization, and complex If (R^1=CH3,R^2=Br) exhibits the highest activity for ethylene and styrene polymerization. When the complexes were preactivated by triethylaluminum (TEA), both polymerization activities and syndiotacticity of the polymers were greatly improved.  相似文献

An equimolar mixture of Cp*Ti(CH3)3 (2) and Ph3C+[B(C6F5)4]? (1) forms a highly active and syndioselective catalyst for the polymerization of styrene, producing 96% syndiotactic polystyrene (PS) at an activity of 0.91 × 107 g PS (mol Ti)?1 (mol styrene)?1 h?1. Both activity and syndioselectivity can be increased using tri–isobutylaluminum (TIBA) to scavenge the system. ESR measurements indicate that the polymerization proceeds via titanium(IV) intermediates. Catalysts derived from 2/methylaluminoxane (MAO) as well as Cp*TiCl3/MAO also function as syndioselective styrene polymerization catalysts, but are less active than the ‘cationic’; system derived from 1 and 2.  相似文献

The reaction of Li2[1,2-{N(PMes2)}2C6H4], formed in situ from n-BuLi and the corresponding amines, with 1 equiv. of [NiBr2(DME)] gives [Ni{1-N(PMes2)-2-N(μ-PMes2)C6H43N,N′,P1P′}]2 (1). After activation by methylalumoxane (MAO), 1 is a highly active catalyst in the oligomerization and isomerization of α-olefins such as ethene, propene, isobutene, 1-hexene and 1,5-hexadiene. For ethene oligomerization turnover frequencies (TOFs) range from 3000 to 79015 h−1, depending on the reaction conditions. The TOF for propene oligomerization reaches 1 190 730 h−1. To our knowledge, catalyst 1, activated by MAO, is the most active catalyst for the oligomerization of propene and outperforms the best known complexes for this reaction. In the reactions with 1-hexene, 1,5-hexadiene and isobutene dimerization and isomerization products were observed.  相似文献

The syndiospecific polymerization of styrene was investigated with the fluorine‐containing half‐sandwich complexes η5‐pentamethylcyclopentadienyl titanium bis(trifluoroacetate) dimer, η5‐octahydrofluorenyl titanium tristrifluoro‐acetate, η5‐octahydrofluorenyl titanium dimethoxymonotrifluoroacetate, and η5‐octahydrofluorenyl titanium tris(pentafluorobenzoate) in comparison to known chloride and methoxide complexes in the presence of relatively low amounts of methylalumoxane and triisobutylaluminum. After the selection of effective reaction conditions for a solvent‐free polymerization, the following orders of decreasing polymerization activity of the titanium complexes can be observed: for pentamethylcyclopentadienyl compounds, Cp*Ti(OMe)3 > [Cp*Ti(OCOCF3)2]2O ≈ Cp*TiCl3, and for octahydrofluorenyl compounds, [656]Ti(OMe)3 > [656]Ti(OCOC6F5)3 > [656]Ti(OCH3)2(OCOCF3) > [656]Ti (OCOCF3)3. The [656]Ti complexes, showing the highest polymerization conversions at 70 °C and in comparison with the Cp* Ti compounds, turned out to be highly efficient catalysts for the syndiospecific styrene polymerization. The fluorine‐containing Cp* and [656]Ti complexes lead to much higher molecular weights than the chloride and methoxide compounds because of a reduction in chain‐limiting transfer reactions. The introduction of only one fluorine‐containing ligand into the coordination sphere of the metal compound is obviously sufficient for a significant increase in molecular weight. The active polymerization sites of the [656]Ti complexes with methylalumoxane and triisobutylaluminum are extremely stable during storage at room temperature in regard to their polymerization activity. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The alternating stereospecific copolymerization of ethylene with cycloolefins (cyclopentene, cycloheptene, and cyclooctene) has been investigated with a series of constrained geometry titanium catalysts (CGCs). The metallocene IndSiMe2(tBuN)TiCl2 was found to generate highly alternating and stereoregular cycloolefin-co-ethylene polymers while Me4CpSiMe2(tBuN)TiCl2 produced alternating atactic polymers. In addition, novel Ti-complexes of the general formula benz[6.7]indenylSiMe2(tBuN)TiMe2 were synthesized and fully characterized. The chiral indenyl Ti complexes were found to produce exclusive 1,2-enchainment of the cycloolefin to generate highly stereoregular and alternating copolymers.  相似文献

A catalytic system of new titanium complexes with methylaluminoxane (MAO) was found to effectively polymerize ethylene for high molecular weight polyethylene as well as highly active copolymerization of ethylene and norbornene. The bis (imino‐indolide)titanium dichlorides (L2TiCl2, 1 – 5 ), were prepared by the reaction of N‐((3‐chloro‐1H‐indol‐2‐yl)methylene)benzenamines with TiCl4, and characterized by elemental analysis, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The solid‐state structures of 1 and 4 were determined by X‐ray diffraction analysis to reveal the six‐coordinated distorted octahedral geometry around the titanium atom with a pair of chlorides and ligands in cis‐forms. Upon activation by MAO, the complexes showed high activity for homopolymerization of ethylene and copolymerization of ethylene and norbornene. A positive “comonomer effect” was observed for copolymerization of ethylene and norbornene. Both experimental observations and paired interaction orbital (PIO) calculations indicated that the titanium complexes with electron‐withdrawing groups in ligands performed higher catalytic activities than those possessing electron‐donating groups. Relying on different complexes and reaction conditions, the resultant polyethylenes had the molecular weights Mw in the range of 200–2800 kg/mol. The influences on both catalytic activity and polyethylene molecular weights have been carefully checked with the nature of complexes and reaction conditions. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article discusses the similarities and differences between active centers in propylene and ethylene polymerization reactions over the same Ti‐based catalysts. These correlations were examined by comparing the polymerization kinetics of both monomers over two different Ti‐based catalyst systems, δ‐TiCl3‐AlEt3 and TiCl4/DBP/MgCl2‐AlEt3/PhSi(OEt)3, by comparing the molecular weight distributions of respective polymers, in consecutive ethylene/propylene and propylene/ethylene homopolymerization reactions, and by examining the IR spectra of “impact‐resistant” polypropylene (a mixture of isotactic polypropylene and an ethylene/propylene copolymer). The results of these experiments indicated that Ti‐based catalysts contain two families of active centers. The centers of the first family, which are relatively unstable kinetically, are capable of polymerizing and copolymerizing all olefins. This family includes from four to six populations of centers that differ in their stereospecificity, average molecular weights of polymer molecules they produce, and in the values of reactivity ratios in olefin copolymerization reactions. The centers of the second family (two populations of centers) efficiently polymerize only ethylene. They do not homopolymerize α‐olefins and, if used in ethylene/α‐olefin copolymerization reactions, incorporate α‐olefin molecules very poorly. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel titanium(IV) complexes bearing tetradentate [ONNO] salan type ligands: [Ti{2,2′‐(OC6H3‐5‐t‐Bu)2‐NHRNH}Cl2] (Lig1TiCl2: R = C2H4; Lig2TiCl2: R = C4H8; Lig3TiCl2: R = C6H12) and [Ti{2,2′‐(OC6H2‐3,5‐di‐t‐Bu)2‐NHC6H12NH}Cl2] (Lig4TiCl2) were synthesized and used in the (co)polymerization of olefins. Vanadium and zirconium complexes: [ M{2,2′‐(OC6H3‐3,5‐di‐t‐Bu)2‐NHC6H12NH}Cl2] (Lig4VCl2: M = V; Lig4ZrCl2: M = Zr) were also synthesized for comparative investigations. All the complexes turned out active in 1‐octene polymerization after activation by MAO and/or Al(i‐Bu)3/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4]. The catalytic performance of titanium complexes was strictly dependent on their structures and it improves for the increasing length of the aliphatic linkage between nitrogen atoms (Lig1TiCl2 << Lig2TiCl2 < Lig3TiCl2) and declines after adding additional tert‐Bu group on the aromatic rings (Lig3TiCl2 < Lig4TiCl2). The activity of all titanium complexes in ethylene polymerization was moderate and the properties of polyethylene was dependent on the ligand structure, cocatalyst type, and reaction conditions. The Et2AlCl‐activated complexes gave polymers with lover molecular weights and bimodal distribution, whereas ultra‐high molecular weight PE (up to 3588 kg mol?1) and narrow MWD was formed for MAO as a cocatalyst. Vanadium complex yielded PE with the highest productivity (1925.3 kg molv?1), with high molecular weight (1986 kg mol?1) and with very narrow molecular weight distribution (1.5). Copolymerization tests showed that titanium complexes yielded ethylene/1‐octene copolymers, whereas vanadium catalysts produced product mixtures. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Ethylene/styrene copolymerizations using Cp′TiCl2(O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3) [Cp′ = Cp* (C5Me5, 1 ), 1,2,4‐Me3C5H2 ( 2 ), tert‐BuC5H4 ( 3 )]‐MAO catalyst systems were explored under various conditions. Complexes 2 and 3 exhibited both high catalytic activities (activity: 504–6810 kg‐polymer/mol‐Ti h) and efficient styrene incorporations at 25, 40°C (ethylene 6 atm), affording relatively high molecular weight poly (ethylene‐co‐styrene)s with unimodal molecular weight distributions as well as with uniform styrene distributions (Mw = 6.12–13.6 × 104, Mw/Mn = 1.50–1.71, styrene 31.7–51.9 mol %). By‐productions of syndiotactic polystyrene (SPS) were observed, when the copolymerizations by 1 – 3 ‐MAO catalyst systems were performed at 55, 70 °C (ethylene 6 atm, SPS 9.0–68.9 wt %); the ratios of the copolymer/SPS were affected by the polymerization temperature, the [styrene]/[ethylene] feed molar ratios in the reaction mixture, and by both the cyclopentadienyl fragment (Cp′) and anionic ancillary donor ligand (L) in Cp′TiCl2(L) (L = Cl, O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3 or N=CtBu2) employed. Co‐presence of the catalytically‐active species for both the copolymerization and the homopolymerization was thus suggested even in the presence of ethylene; the ratios were influenced by various factors (catalyst precursors, temperature, styrene/ethylene feed molar ratio, etc.). © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This contribution reports on the syntheses, structures and olefin polymerization behavior of Ti complexes having a pair of chelating pyrrolide-imine [N,N] ligands. X-ray analyses as well as 1H NMR studies demonstrate that bis(pyrrolide-imine) Ti complexes (named PI Catalysts) contain approximately octahedrally coordinated metal centers with mutually trans-pyrrolide-Ns, cis-imine-Ns and cis-Cls. DFT studies suggest that PI Catalysts, when activated, provide a metal alkyl in the cis position to a vacant coordination site for monomer binding. These theoretical studies also show that the active species derived from PI Catalysts normally possess higher electrophilicity and a sterically more open nature compared with those produced using bis(phenoxy-imine) Ti complexes (Ti-FI Catalysts) which are known as high performance olefin polymerization catalysts. These structural as well as electronic features suggest that PI Catalysts have high potential for the polymerization of olefinic monomers.Unlike high performance Ti-FI Catalysts, PI Catalysts do not require the presence of steric bulk in close proximity to the anionic donor. PI Catalysts combined with MAO display high ethylene polymerization activities (max. 33,200 kg-polymer/mol-cat/h, 25 °C, atmospheric pressure) comparable to those obtained with early group 4 metallocene catalysts (e.g., Cp2TiCl2 16,700 kg-polymer/mol-cat/h) under identical conditions. As expected, PI Catalysts exhibit higher incorporation capability for propylene and 1-hexene relative to FI Catalysts though the incorporation levels are lower than those for Cp2TiCl2. To our surprise, PI Catalysts/MAO show remarkably high norbornene (NB) incorporation, superior to that seen with the [Me2Si(Me4Cp)N-tBu]TiCl2 (CGC) catalyst system, and they readily form ethylene-NB copolymers with high NB contents. The highly electrophilic and sterically open nature is probably responsible for the high NB affinity. Additionally, PI Catalysts/MAO possess characteristics of living ethylene polymerization (though under limited conditions) and afford high molecular weight PEs with very narrow molecular weight distributions (Mn 225,000, Mw/Mn 1.15, 10-s polymerization, 25 °C). Moreover, these catalysts can copolymerize ethylene and NB in a highly controlled living manner to afford monodisperse alternating copolymers with very high molecular weights (Mn > 500,000, Mw/Mn < 1.2) at room temperature. This unique living nature allows the preparation of a number of ethylene- and NB-based block copolymers, including PE-b-poly(ethylene-co-NB) and poly(ethylene-co-NB)a-b-poly(ethylene-co-NB)b, in which each segment contains a different NB content. These are probably the first examples of the syntheses of block copolymers from ethylene and NB. Consequently, the discovery and application of PI Catalysts has exercised a significant influence on olefin polymerization catalysis and polymer synthesis.  相似文献

A new generation of MgCl2‐supported catalysts for the polymerization of propene without any external donors was prepared. Two diethers, 9,9‐bis(methoxymethyl)fluorene (for Cat‐A) and 2,2‐dipropyl‐1,3‐dimethoxypropane (for Cat‐B) differing in the bulkiness of alkyl substituents in position 2, have been used as internal donors in MgCl2/TiCl4/diether‐AlR3 catalysts. The weight‐average molecular weights produced with both catalysts were over 3.5×105 at low temperature in slurry polymerization (< 40°C). Cat‐A showed higher activity and produced higher isotactic polypropene than Cat‐B. The activity of both catalysts proved to be dependent on the temperature.  相似文献
