We show that the consideration of Gâteaux smooth functions on Banach spaces which admit an equivalent Gâteaux smooth norm allows us to show that certain linear operators have nontrivial closed invariant subspaces. It is in particular the case of all operators on a real Banach space which admit a moment sequence.  相似文献

We study dynamics of flows generated by smooth vector fields in in the vicinity of an invariant and closed smooth manifold . By applying the Hadamard graph transform technique, we show that there exists an invariant manifold (called a center manifold of ) based on the information of the linearization along , which contains every locally bounded solution and is persistent under small perturbations.

Colombeau generalized functions invariant under smooth (additive) one-parameter groups are characterized. This characterization is applied to generalized functions invariant under orthogonal groups of arbitrary signature, such as groups of rotations or the Lorentz group. Further, a one-dimensional Colombeau generalized function with two (real) periods is shown to be a generalized constant, when the ratio of the periods is an algebraic nonrational number. Finally, a nonstandard Colombeau generalized function invariant under standard translations is shown to be constant. In this exposition, we show that the Hamiltonian is always constant on a compact invariant connected subset which lies in a Lagrangian graph provided that the Hamiltonian and the graph are sufficiently smooth. We also provide some counterexamples to show that if the Hamiltonian function is not smooth enough, then it may be non-constant on a compact invariant connected subset which lies in a Lagrangian graph.  相似文献

Zero dispersion and viscosity limits of invariant manifolds for focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLS) are studied. We start with spatially uniform and temporally periodic solutions (the so-called Stokes waves). We find that the spectra of the linear NLS at the Stokes waves often have surprising limits as dispersion or viscosity tends to zero. When dispersion (or viscosity) is set to zero, the size of invariant manifolds and/or Fenichel fibers approaches zero as viscosity (or dispersion) tends to zero. When dispersion (or viscosity) is nonzero, the size of invariant manifolds and/or Fenichel fibers approaches a nonzero limit as viscosity (or dispersion) tends to zero. When dispersion is nonzero, the center-stable manifold, as a function of viscosity, is not smooth at zero viscosity. A subset of the center-stable manifold is smooth at zero viscosity. The unstable Fenichel fiber is smooth at zero viscosity. When viscosity is nonzero, the stable Fenichel fiber is smooth at zero dispersion.  相似文献

Problems related to perturbation theory of smooth invariant tori of dynamical systems in an-dimensional Euclidean spaceR n are considered. The clarification of these problems plays an important role for perturbation theory suggested by the author in [1] and extends the scope of its application.Translated from Ukrainskii Matematicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 46, No. 12, pp. 1665–1699, December, 1994.  相似文献

Let be a degeneration of Kähler manifolds. The local invariant cycle theorem states that for a smooth fiber of the degeneration, any cohomology class, invariant under the monodromy action, comes from a global cohomology class. Instead of the classical cohomology, one may consider the non-abelian cohomology. This note demonstrates that the analogous non-abelian version of the local invariant cycle theorem does not hold if the first non-abelian cohomology is the moduli space (universal categorical quotient) of the representations of the fundamental group.

We construct an invariant of smooth isotopy for surfaces smoothly embeded in 4-manifolds. This invariant is used to distinguish smooth embeddings of tori or Klein bottles that are regular homotopic in C1×C1, and that have the same complement and the same fundamental rack. This note studies invariant generators for a certain class of invariant smooth generalized subbundles of exact Courant algebroids, which generalizes existing results for invariant vector subbundles of exact Courant algebroids. As a result, we provide a simple and geometric proof for Theorem 1 in [1].  相似文献

We prove that a rational linear combination of Chern numbers is an oriented diffeomorphism invariant of smooth complex projective varieties if and only if it is a linear combination of the Euler and Pontryagin numbers. In dimension at least three we prove that only multiples of the top Chern number, which is the Euler characteristic, are invariant under diffeomorphisms that are not necessarily orientation-preserving. These results solve a long-standing problem of Hirzebruch's. We also determine the linear combinations of Chern numbers that can be bounded in terms of Betti numbers.  相似文献

We investigate a remarkable new planar piecewise isometry whose generating map is a permutation of four cones. For this system we prove the coexistence of an infinite number of periodic components and an uncountable number of transitive components. The union of all periodic components is an invariant pentagon with unequal sides. Transitive components are invariant curves on which the dynamics are conjugate to a transitive interval exchange. The restriction of the map to the invariant pentagonal region is the first known piecewise isometric system for which there exist an infinite number of periodic components but the only aperiodic points are on the boundary of the region. The proofs are based on exact calculations in a rational cyclotomic field. We use the system to shed some light on a conjecture that PWIs can possess transitive invariant curves that are not smooth.

Summary An application in robotics motivates us to characterize the evolution of a subset in state space due to a compact neighborhood of an arbitrary dynamical system—an instance of a differential inclusion. Earlier results of Blagodat·skikh and Filippov (1986) and Butkovskii (1982) characterize the boundary of theattainable set and theforward projection operator of a state. Our first result is a local characterization of the boundary of the forward projection ofa compact regular subset of the state space. Let the collection of states such that the differential inclusion contains an equilibrium point be called asingular invariant set. We show that the fields at the boundary of the forward projection of a singular invariant set are degenerate under some regularity assumptions when the state-wise boundary of the differential inclusion is smooth. Consider instead those differential inclusions such that the state-wise boundary of the problem is a regular convex polytope—a piecewise smooth boundary rather than smooth. Our second result gives conditions for theuniqueness andexistence of the boundary of the forward projection of a singular invariant set. They characterize the bundle of unstable and stable manifolds of such a differential inclusion.  相似文献

Let a smooth autonomous system of ordinary differential equations have a smooth locally invariant manifold passing through its equilibrium point. The sufficient conditions are known under which each perturbed system has at least one smooth invariant manifoldC 1 close to the original one. In the paper we prove the necessity of these conditions.  相似文献

We prove a general theorem on the persistence of Whitney C -smooth families of invariant tori in the reversible context 2 of KAM theory. This context refers to the situation where dim FixG < (codim T)/2, where FixG is the fixed point manifold of the reversing involution G and T is the invariant torus in question. Our result is obtained as a corollary of the theorem by H. W.Broer, M.-C.Ciocci, H.Hanßmann, and A.Vanderbauwhede (2009) concerning quasi-periodic stability of invariant tori with singular “normal” matrices in reversible systems.  相似文献

In Artin presentation theory, a smooth, compact four-manifold is determined by a certain type of presentation of the fundamental group of its boundary. Topological invariants of both three-and four-manifolds can be calculated solely in terms of functions of the discrete Artin presentation. González-Acuña proposed such a formula for the Rokhlin invariant of an integral homology three-sphere. This paper provides a formula for the Casson invariant of rational homology spheres. Thus, all 3D Seiberg-Witten invariants can be calculated by using methods of the theory of groups in Artin presentation theory. The Casson invariant is closely related to canonical knots determined by an Artin presentation. It is also shown that any knot in any three-manifold appears as a canonical knot in Artin presentation theory. An open problem is to determine 4D Seiberg-Witten and Donaldson invariants in Artin presentation theory.  相似文献

Let us consider a smooth invariant surface S of a given ordinary differential equations system. In this work we develop an impulsive control method in order to assure that the trajectories of the controlled system converge toward the surface S. The method approach is based on a property of a certain class of invariant surfaces whose the dynamics associated to their transverse directions can be described by a non-autonomous linear system. This fact allows to define an impulsive system which drives the trajectories toward the surface S. Also, we set up a definition of local stability exponents which can be associated to such kind of invariant surface.  相似文献

We introduce a class of (tuples of commuting) unbounded operators on a Banach space, admitting smooth functional calculi, which contains all operators of Helffer-Sjöstrand type and is closed under the action of smooth proper mappings. Moreover, the class is closed under tensor product of commuting operators. In general, and operator in this class has no resolvent in the usual sense, so the spectrum must be defined in terms of the functional calculus. We also consider invariant subspaces and spectral decompositions.  相似文献

Consider both the calssical and some more general invariant decision problems of estimating a continuous distribution function, with the loss function {ie503-1} and a sample of sizen fromF. It is proved that any nonrandomized estimator can be approximated in Lebesgue measure by the more general invariant estimators. Some methods for investigating the finite sample problem are discussed. As an application, a proof that the best invariant estimator is minimax when the sample size is 1 is given.  相似文献

In this paper we define invariants under smooth isotopy for certain two-dimensional knots using some refined Cerf theory. One of the invariants is the knot type of some classical knot generalizing the string number of closed braids. The other invariant is a generalization of the unique invariant of degree 1 for classical knots in 3-manifolds. Possibly, these invariants can be used to distinguish smooth embeddings of tori in some 4-manifolds but which are equivalent as topological embeddings.  相似文献
