We theoretically studied a nonlinear optical process in a hybrid plasmonic waveguide composed of a nonlinear dielectric waveguide and a metal film with a separation of a thin air gap. Owing to the hybridization effect of guided mode and surface plasmon polariton mode, this particular waveguide is able to confine the optical-field in a deep subwavelength scale together with low propagation loss. Based on this, efficient second-harmonic generations (SHG) were revealed at the fundamental wavelength of λ=1.55?μm with good field confinement. The SHG efficiency, as well as the coupling coefficient and mode area, were analyzed and discussed in detail with respect to the structural parameters.  相似文献

We have shown that optically active second-harmonic generation is allowed in a uniaxial fluid medium. A homeotropically aligned chiral smectic-A liquid crystal was used as an example. Phase matching was achievable by angle tuning. Chiral nonlinear susceptibility for the liquid crystal was deduced. The signal dropped precipitously as the sample underwent the transition from smectic-A to isotropic.  相似文献

We demonstrate twin-beam second-harmonic generation from telecommunications wavelengths in an optimized buried reverse proton exchanged planar waveguide made in 2D hexagonally poled LiNbO3. Experiments carried out with a nanosecond narrow-bandwidth, high-power fiber source thoroughly explored the response of the nonlinear photonic crystal device in terms of its power, wavelength, and angle tunability.  相似文献

We studied the propagation of the second-harmonic (SH) wave in a quasi-phase-matching (QPM) medium with a slanted nonlinear grating. By solving the electromagnetic boundary value problem for the SH wave, we derived the propagation law for the SH wave, which can be interpreted as a diffraction phenomenon. Such interpretation was supported by a series of SH generation experiments with a periodically-poled lithium niobate crystal with a slanted QPM grating.  相似文献

We investigate the transverse second-harmonic generation in as grown strontium barium niobate (SBN) crystals with a random structure of anti-parallel ferroelectric domains. We consider both, single and counter-propagating pulse geometries. Peculiarities of dimensional resonances of elastic and magnetoelastic waves in bi-layered insulator structure: ferromagnetic film–non-magnetic elastic substrate have been investigated. Dependences of resonant frequencies of vibration modes upon thicknesses of magnetic and non-magnetic layers, elastic and magnetoelastic parameters, applied magnetic field have been calculated. The presence of peculiarities of resonant frequencies harmonics behavior with change of magnetic layer thickness have been shown.  相似文献

We derive model equations for the propagation of ultrashort pulses in materials with resonant linear and quadratic nonlinear responses and find approximate soliton solutions describing all-bright and dark-bright polaritons. We report the specific phase matching condition for efficient 2nd harmonic generation, which involves detuning from the resonance. We also demonstrate that the 2nd harmonic emission by the polaritonic pulses can lead to reduction of their group velocity, having zero as a theoretical limit. In contrast with traditional nonlinear optics, a peak at the spectral position of the second harmonic of a laser can also be generated in an inversion-symmetric medium in the regime of extreme nonlinear optics. We describe the underlying mechanism of such third-harmonic generation in disguise of second-harmonic generation and compare theory with the optical as well as the radio-frequency spectra measured in recent experiments on thin ZnO films. The peak at twice the carrier-envelope offset frequency in the radio-frequency spectra is shown to be an unambiguous signature of such a process.  相似文献

Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy is used to visualize the spatial structure of magnetoacoustic resonances in an yttrium iron garnet (YIG) film on a gadolinium–gallium garnet (GGG) substrate under the strong influence of nonlinear processes of three magnon decay. It is shown that the decay processes result in the simultaneous excitation of magnetoacoustic resonances at two frequencies: those of the input signal and its half frequency. The distribution of coupled magnetic and elastic waves becomes much more complicated and the excitation threshold of magnetoacoustic resonances arises.  相似文献

采用二阶微扰近似和模式展开方法,对分层结构中兰姆波的二次谐波发生问题进行了深入研究,得到了二次谐波声场的一般表达式。兰姆波在分层结构中传播时,固体板材的体弹性非线性效应导致在各固体层的内部及表面出现二倍频的体驱动力及面驱动应力,其作用是在分层结构中激发出一系列二倍频兰姆波的简正模式,这些简正模式的叠加即构成分层结构中兰姆波的二次谐波声场。当构成二次谐波声场的某一二倍频兰姆波简正模式的相速度等于基频兰姆波的相速度时,该二倍频兰姆波简正模式分量表现出随传播距离积累增长的性质。本文还就铝板-环氧粘接层-铝板结构中兰姆波的二次谐波声场进行了数值分析,结果显示,软粘接层性质对二次谐波声场的影响很大。  相似文献

A novel technique of generation of acoustic microwave is analyzed. The basic principle is similar to the distributed feedback concept used in lasers, where the oscillation feedback is provided by a periodic structure throughout the amplifying medium. Analytical expressions are obtained for the power of the second harmonic in nonlinear crystals having a regular domain structure with allowance for thermal blooming for a Gaussian beam of basic radiation in the quasi-stationary plane-wave approximation. Nonlinear phase shift and transmission experienced by a beam at the fundamental frequency during electro-optic modulated quasi-phase-matched second-harmonic generation are studied. Numerical results indicate that the nonlinear phase shift of fundamental wave shows a difference of π, while fundamental transmission is controllable only by applying a DC electric field along z-axis. The above effect can be implemented on high-contrast optical switching devices such as Mach-Zehnder push-pull device. The relationships between the characteristic (peak and dip) electric fields and the initial pump intensity are also discussed.  相似文献

We study, both experimentally and theoretically, the process of second-harmonic generation by two noncollinear beams in ferroelectric crystals with a disordered distribution of ferroelectric domains. We show that this parametric process results in generation of second-harmonic wave in the direction transverse to the propagation of the fundamental beam. We demonstrate how this effect can be used for the femtosecond pulse characterization enabling the estimation of both width and chirp of the pulse.  相似文献
