It is observed that low-temperature magnetic properties (dependence of the magnetization on the cooling conditions and the presence of a maximum in the initial magnetic susceptibility) of Eu1− x AxMnO3 (A=Ca, Sr; x=0,0.3) samples are similar to those of spin glasses. However, there are also substantial differences: The magnetization depends on the cooling conditions right up to the maximum measurement fields H=45 kOe, and the temperature of T N of the maximum of the initial magnetic susceptibility is independent of the frequency of the ac magnetic field in which the susceptibility is measured. The magnetization isotherms for T<T N are a superposition of a linear part, characteristic for an antiferromagnet, and a small spontaneous part. For compositions containing Sr a maximum of the resistivity ρ (ρmax∼108 Ω ·cm) is observed near T N; in a 120 kOe magnetic field this maximum is lowered by four orders of magnitude and the temperature of the maximum is two times higher. In compositions with x=0.3 the paramagnetic Curie point is much higher than for the composition with x=0: θ=110 K (A=Ca), 175 K (A=Sr), and −100 K (x=0). These characteristic features of the magnetic and electric properties are explained by the existence of a magnetically two-phase state in this system, consisting of ferromagnetic clusters, in which the charge carriers are concentrated, embedded in an insulating antiferromagnetic matrix. The magnetic properties of Eu1−x CaxMnO3 have been investigated. As the calcium content increased up to x=0.2, the magnetization and the blocking temperature of the magnetic moments of clusters increased and the magnetic anisotropy decreased. As the calcium content increased further, the magnetization decreased, while the “freezing” temperature of the magnetic moments increased. Anomalies of the magnetic properties were observed in compositions with x=0.4 and 0.5 at T=40 K; these anomalies are attributed to a transition to the antiferromagnetic state in the charge-ordered phase. The magnetic properties of ferroborate single crystals with substituted compositions Nd1 − x Dy x Fe3(BO3)4 (x = 0.15, 0.25) with competing exchange Nd-Fe and Dy-Fe interactions are investigated. For each composition, we observed a spontaneous spin-reorientation transition from the easy-axis to the easy-plane state and step anomalies on the magnetization curves for the spin-flop transition induced by a magnetic field B | c. The measured parameters and effects are interpreted using a unified theoretical approach based on the molecular field approximation and on calculations performed in the crystal-field model for the rare-earth ion. The experimental temperature dependences of the initial magnetic susceptibility from T = 2 K to T = 300 K, anomalies on the magnetization curves for B | c in fields up to 1.8 T, and their evolution with temperature, as well as temperature and field dependences of magnetization in fields up to 9 T are described. In the interpretation of experimental data, the crystal-field parameters in trigonal symmetry for the rare-earth subsystem are determined, as well as the parameters of Nd-Fe and Dy-Fe exchange interactions.  相似文献

The NMR of 55Mn in the quasi-one-dimensional noncollinear antiferromagnet CsMnI3 at T=1.3 K is investigated in magnetic fields up to ∼40 kOe. Six NMR branches corresponding to six manganese spins per magnetic unit cell are observed. The NMR spectra correspond satisfactorily to the well-known magnetic structure of CsMnI3, taking into account the dynamic frequency shift due to the interaction with the low-lying AFMR modes. The average spins 〈S A〉=1.86 and 〈S B〉=1.74 of the magnetically nonequivalent Mn2+ ions are determined from the measured values of the hyperfine fields. The results obtained agree qualitatively with the calculations of spin reduction in quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnets [Y. Watabe, T. Suzuki, and Y. Natsume, Phys. Rev. B 52, 3400 (1995)]. In connection with the problem of identifying magnetic states in the vicinity of x 0 (the multicritical point of the x-T diagrams of spin-glass systems) a study has been made of properties that can be exploited to determine the presence of a thermodynamic phase transition at the Curie point T C and the distinctive features of the transition, specifically, the temperature dependence of the magnetic part of the specific heat C m(T), the temperature dependence of the low-field magnetization σ H(T), and (with a view toward examining critical behavior in a magnetic field) the magnetization isotherms σ H(T). The investigated object is the system of dilute ferrimagnetic spinels Li0.5Fe2.5−x GaxO4, in which every type of magnetic state has spatially inhomogeneous cluster structures. The results obtained for a sample with x=1.45 indicate that the classical criteria of a ferrimagnetic second-order phase transition at T C=(97±2) K occur for xx 0. The results of similar investigations for a sample with x=1.6, which exists in the cluster spin-glass state for T<T f=22 K and in an uncorrelated cluster state of the superparamagnetic type for T>T f, are also given for comparison with the preceding case. The magnetic and crystalline properties of the polycrystalline compounds GdxLa1−x FeSi (x=0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.45, 0.55, 0.65, 0.8, 1) and single crystal GdFeSi are studied. All the compounds have the CeFeSi tetragonal structure. The temperature dependences of the magnetization and initial susceptibility show that ferromagnetic behavior is characteristic of these compounds; the exception is the Pauli paramagnetic LaFeSi. Substitution of gadolinium by the nonmagnetic lanthanum leads to a sharp drop in the Curie temperature T c, and to a reduction in the saturation magnetic moment μ 0, effective magnetic moment μ eff, and paramagnetic Curie temperature Θp. Measurements on single crystal GdFeSi imply that the easy magnetization axis of this compound is the c axis and the anisotropy field is H a∼4 kOe. No magnetic moment was observed on the iron ion in any of these compounds. Fiz. Tverd. Tela (St. Petersburg) 39, 325–329 (February 1997)  相似文献

The paper reports on a comprehensive study of magnetic properties of CuFe2−x CrxO4 ferrites (x=0.0, 0.2, 0.3, 1.0, 1.4, 1.6, and 2.0). The curves of magnetization versus temperature, σ s(T), of the ferrites with x=1.0, 1.4, and 1.6 have anomalous shapes: the magnetization begins to fall off at lower temperatures than the Curie point TC. The experimental results and analysis of exchange interactions suggest that in ferrites with high Cr3+ content, magnetic transitions to either a frustrated magnetic structure or a clustered spin glass can take place. The frequency of orientational quantum oscillations of the magnetization near impurity-ion clusters with Ising properties in a saturated magnetic crystal is calculated. It is noted that in compounds of the type HoxY3−x Fe5O12, where magnetic phase transitions are observed, additional magnetization reversal and magnetic resonance features due to mesoscopic oscillations of the magnetization can be observed at low concentrations x<0.001 and cryogenic temperatures in fields comparable to the intersublattice exchange interaction field. Measurements of magnetization in static fields up to 60 kOe and magnetic susceptibility in weak ac fields of the Y(Ni1−x Mx)3 and Y2(Ni1−x Mx)7 intermetallics (M=Fe and Cu, x max=0.2), as well of the specific heat of these systems for some compositions are reported. It was found that these intermetallics are ferromagnetic at low temperature, and that their spontaneous magnetizations M s at 4.2 K and Curie temperatures T C decrease monotonically with increasing copper concentration. The magnetic susceptibility of the Y(Ni1−x Fex)3 system with 0.06≲x≲0.2 was observed to decrease rapidly with the temperature lowered below a characteristic temperature T s. One of possible reasons for such an anomaly is shown to be the onset in this concentration region of the reentrant spin-glass state at low temperatures. The results obtained demonstrate that the tight-binding d-band model fails to explain the evolution of the magnetic properties of YNi3 and Y2Ni7 in the case of small substitutions of iron and copper for nickel. This paper discusses experimental studies of the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility, electrical conductivity, and Seebeck coefficient of the compounds CoxTiSe2 (0.1⩽x⩽0.5), along with the structural behavior exhibited by these compounds. For Co0.5TiSe2, the observed temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility is characteristic of an antiferromagnet with a Néel temperature of 510 K. The data obtained on the structural characteristics and physical properties of the intercalated phases are interpreted using a model that assumes the formation of bands of localized states near the Fermi level. The two-dimensional (2D) Heisenberg model with anisotropic exchange (Δ = 1−J x /J z ) and S=1/2 is investigated by the quantum Monte Carlo method. The energy, susceptibility, specific heat, spin-spin correlation functions, and correlation radius are calculated. The sublattice magnetization (σ) and the Néel temperature of the anisotropic antiferromagnet are logarithmic functions of the exchange anisotropy: 1/σ+1+0.13(1)ln(1/Δ). Crossover of the static magnetic structural factor as a function of temperature from power-law to exponential occurs for T c /J≈0.4. The correlation radius can be approximated by 1/ξ=2.05T 1.0(6)/exp(1.0(4)/T). For La2CuO4 the sublattice magnetization is calculated as σ=0.45, the exchange is J=(1125–1305) K; for Er2CuO4 J∼625 K and the exchange anisotropy Δ∼0.003. The temperature dependence of the static structural magnetic factor and the correlation radius above the Néel temperature in these compounds can be explained by the formation of topological excitations (spinons). A study is performed of the crystalline structure, magnetization, and magnetotransport properties of the system La2/3Ba1/3(Mn1−x Cox)O3 with perovskite structure. It is shown that cubic solid solutions exist over the entire range of cobalt concentrations 0⩽x⩽1. Compositions with x⩽0.2 are ferromagnets with maximum resistance near T C . Compositions with 0.2<x<0.4 manifest properties of inhomogeneous ferromagnets. Measurements of magnetic properties indicate the absence of long-range magnetic order in compositions with 0.5⩽x⩽0.9, which are probably spin glasses. The spontaneous magnetization of cobaltate (2μ B per formula unit) corresponds to ferromagnetic ordering of the moments of the Co3+ and Co4+ ions found in the intermediate spin state. It is conjectured that the magnetoresistance consists of an extrinsic and an intrinsic contribution. The first arises as a result of intergrain transport of spin-polarized charge carriers, and the second, as a result of magnetic ordering near T C . The magnetoresistance is essentially independent of the spontaneous magnetization and decreases abruptly as the cobalt concentration is increased with a corresponding transition from long-range to short-range magnetic order. Using model objects consisting of dilute reentrant spinels Li0.5Fe2.5−x GaxO4 with x=1.0–1.2, this paper describes the temperature dependence of the magnetic contribution to the heat capacity, C m (T), at H=0 and temperatures exceeding the freezing temperature (T f ∼10 K) and, for T⩾4.2 K, the low-field magnetization σ H (T) and the saturation magnetization σ S (T), as well as the magnetization isotherms σ T (T) in fields of up to 10 kOe. The specific features of the behavior of the overall characteristics of C m (T) and σ S (T) are found for the states of a frustrated ferrimagnetic that occur in the conditions considered here (H=0 and T>T f or T⩾4.2 K and strong magnetic fields) and are discussed in connection with changes in the magnetic excitation spectrum caused by local breakdowns of collinear spin ordering and frustrations. The spectrum and intensities of NMR lines are investigated experimentally and theoretically for excitation by an alternating magnetic field h‖ parallel to a static field H in the quasi-one-dimensional, six-sublattice antiferromagnet CsMnBr3. According to theory, two new NMR lines, which are not excited by a transverse magnetic field h , are observed near the phase transition from triangular to collinear structure (H=H c ) [JETP 86, 197 (1998)]. Solid solutions of the system La1−x CaxMnO3 are synthesized, and their magnetic and electrical properties are investigated. As x is increased, the crystal lattice changes symmetrically from an orthorhombic (x=0 and x=0.8) to a cubic structure (0<x⩽0.6 and x=1). Nonstoichiometric LaMnO3 and compositions with a low Ca content (0<x<0.4) are collinear ferromagnets. A metal-insulator transition is observed in them near the Curie temperature. Compositions with 0.6⩽x⩽0.9 exhibit a semiconductor-type conductivity and an unusual temperature behavior of the magnetization and the susceptibility with very distinct Curie and Néel temperatures. The magnetic properties of the solid solutions are explained on the basis of the model of ferro-antiferromagnetic phase separation. Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 116, 1664–1675 (November 1999)  相似文献

The low-frequency part of the magnetic resonance spectrum of the hexagonal six-sublattice quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnet CsMnBr3 at temperatures which are low compared with T N =8.3 K is investigated experimentally. A temperature-dependent gap Δ(T) is found in the spectrum ω e (H) of the lower AFMR branch; this gap is due to the hyperfine interaction of the nuclear spins with the electronic spins of the (55Mn)2+ ions. The spectrum of the low-lying resonance frequencies of such a system is calculated taking this interaction into acount in the approximation of fluctuationless spin hydrodynamics for the electronic branch of the oscillations. The computational results are in good qualitative and satisfactory quantitative agreement with experiment. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 64, No. 6, 433–437 (25 September 1996)  相似文献

A study is made of the temperature and field dependences of the anisotropic magnetization of a quasi-one-dimensional charge-density-wave conductor — the blue bronze K0.3 MoO3. Nonlinearity of the magnetization curves is observed at temperatures below 100 K. The temperature and field dependences of the magnetic moment show the effect to be of a collective nature. The magnetic, electrical, and optical properties of Ca1 − x Ce x MnO3 (x≤0.12) manganite single crystals are investigated with the aim of revealing the specific features of the multiphase electronic and magnetic state as a function of the cerium concentration and the atmosphere used for growing single crystals. It is found that the concentration dependence of the low-temperature magnetization M(x) of the single crystals is shifted toward the high-concentration range as compared to the corresponding dependence of the polycrystals, which is explained by the predominant cation deficiency. The electrical resistivity and the reflection spectra of the single crystals in the infrared spectral range indicate that charge carriers exhibit a band nature at temperatures close to room temperature. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity of the single crystal with x = 0.08, which has the maximum magnetization in the studied series of Ca1 − x Ce x MnO3 compounds, unlike polycrystals, exhibits a metallic behavior over the entire temperature range. The G-type antiferromagnetic phase with the Néel and Curie temperatures T N(G) = T C = 100 K is characterized by maxima of the electrical resistivity ρ and the magnetoresistance Δρ/ρ = |(ρ0 − ρ H )/ρ0| = 38% in the magnetic field H = 90 kOe. The magnetoresistance Δρ/ρ of the single crystals at cerium concentrations x = 0.10 and 0.12 with variations in temperature exhibit three specific features: near the temperature of charge ordering T co, near the temperature of the magnetic phase transition to the C-type antiferromagnetic phase T N(C), and near the temperature of the phase transition to the magnetic charge-ordered phase T N(MCO). An anomalous temperature dependence of the magnetization is revealed for a single crystal with x = 0.10 grown in oxygen at a pressure of 5 atm, which is explained by the presence of regions with hole conductivity due to cation deficiency. The inhomogeneous electronic and magnetic state is associated with the interrelation of the charge, orbital, and spin orderings. Original Russian Text ? N.N. Loshkareva, A.V. Korolev, N.I. This paper reports on a study of the effect of oxygen deficiency on the magnetic and electrical properties of the La1 − x Sr x MnO3 − δ manganites (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4; δ = 0, 0.13, 0.2). In compositions with x = 0 and δ = 0.13 and 0.2, the temperature dependence of the magnetization M (T) can be approximated by the Langevin function with the moment of superparamagnetic clusters μ = 77μB (δ = 0.13) and 86μB (δ = 0.2) at temperatures of 25 K ≤ T ≤ 250 K, with the exception of a small temperature range near 132 K in which a maximum characteristic of the LaMnO3 antiferromagnet is seen. These compositions, as well as Sr-doped compositions with δ ≠ 0, reveal a difference between the magnetizations of the sample cooled in a weak magnetic field and in zero field. At T = 6 K in a magnetic field of 16 kOe, the compositions with x = 0.2 and 0.4, δ = 0.13 possess a magnetic moment per formula unit lower than that with δ = 0, as well as reveal an anomalous relation between the Curie temperature T C and the Curie paramagnetic point gJ, namely, T C > gJ. The magnetization of compositions with x = 0.2 and 0.4, δ = 0.2 follows the Langevin function with μ = 40μB and 130μB, respectively. The electrical resistivity of samples with x = 0.4 and δ = 0.13 and 0.2 is one to two orders of magnitude larger than that of the composition with x = 0.4, δ = 0, which evidences partial or complete compensation of acceptor defects (Sr2+ ions) by donor defects (doubly charged O2− vacancies). The above properties of oxygen-deficient compositions suggest that they contain an insulating ferro-antiferromagnetic magnetically double-phase state. The magnetoresistance and volume magnetostriction in samples with x = 0.4 and δ = 0, 0.13, and 0.2 are small; indeed, in a magnetic field of 8 kOe, they do not exceed 1.4% and 6 × 10−6, respectively. On this basis, it is concluded that the unbalanced doubly charged donors (O vacancies) are in the state with antiparallel spins and, thus, do not initiate the formation of ferron-type ferromagnetic clusters. The significance of both compensated and unbalanced doubly charged donors consists in that they give rise to the formation of fractured Mn-O-Mn bonds, which bring about lowering of the magnetic moment per formula unit in compositions with x = 0.2 and 0.4 and δ = 0.13 and the transition to superparamagnetism in compositions with x = 0.2 and 0.4, δ = 0.2.
