Let be an algebra, and let X be an arbitrary -bimodule. A linear space Y ? X is called a Jordan -submodule if Ay + yA ∈ Y for all A ∈ and y ∈ Y. (For X = , this coincides with the notion of a Jordan ideal.) We study conditions under which Jordan submodules are subbimodules. General criteria are given in the purely algebraic situation as well as for the case of Banach bimodules over Banach algebras. We also consider symmetrically normed Jordan submodules over C*-algebras. It turns out that there exist C*-algebras in which not all Jordan ideals are ideals.

Ideals and atoms are studied by various authors from different point of views. In different algebras there are studied different
ideals, but obtained results are similar. Below we present a new method of study of ideals in BZ-algebras. Using this method we describe the connection between ideals of various types.

We endow any proper A-convex H*-algebra (E, τ) with a locally pre-C*-topology. The latter is equivalent to that introduced by the pre C*-norm given by Ptàk function when (E, τ) is a Q-algebra. We also prove that the algebra of complex numbers is the unique proper locally A-convex H*-algebra which is barrelled and Q-algebra.

We introduce the notion of weak dually residuated lattice ordered semi-groups (WDRL-semigroups) and investigate the relation
between R
0-algebras and WDRL-semigroups. We prove that the category of R
0-algebras is equivalent to the category of some bounded WDRL-semigroups. Moreover, the connection between WDRL-semigroups

The results of Kasparov, Connes, Higson, and Loring imply the coincidence of the functors [[qℂ ⊗ K, B ⊗ K]] = [[C
0(ℝ2) ⊗ K, B ⊗ K]] for any C*-algebra B; here[[A, B]] denotes the set of homotopy classes of asymptotic homomorphisms from A to B. Inthe paper, this assertion is strengthened; namely, it is shown that the algebras qℂ ⊗ K and C
0(ℝ2) ⊗ K are equivalent in the category whose objects are C*-algebras and morphisms are classes of homotopic asymptotic homomorphisms. Some geometric properties of the obtained equivalence are studied. Namely, the algebras qℂ ⊗ K and C
0(ℝ2) ⊗ K are represented as fields of C*-algebras; it is proved that the equivalence is not fiber-preserving, i.e., is does not take fibers to fibers. It is also proved that the algebras under consideration are not homotopy equivalent.__________Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, vol. 77, no. 5, 2005, pp. 788–796.Original Russian Text Copyright ©2005 by T. The estimation of the asymptotic variance of sample median based on a random sample of univariate observations has been extensively studied in the literature. The appearance of a local object like the density function of the observations in this asymptotic variance makes its estimation a difficult task, and there are several complex technical problems associated with it. This paper explores the problem of estimating the dispersion matrix of the multivariateL
1 median. Though it is absolutely against common intuition, this problem turns out to be technically much simpler. We exhibit a simple estimate for the large sample dispersion matrix of the multivariateL
1 median with excellent asymptotic properties, and to construct this estimate, we do not use any of the computationally intensive resampling techniques (e.g. the generalized jackknife, the bootstrap, etc. that have been used and thoroughly investigated by leading statisticians in their attempts to estimate the asymptotic variance of univariate median). However surprising may it sound, our analysis exposes that most of the technical complicacies associated with the estimation of the sampling variation in the median are only characteristics of univariate data, and they disappear as soon as we enter into the realm of multivariate analysis. The research of the second author was partially supported by a Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation Grant from University of Wisconsin, Madison. 相似文献

Monadic MV-algebras are an algebraic model of the predicate calculus of the Łukasiewicz infinite valued logic in which only a single
individual variable occurs. GMV-algebras are a non-commutative generalization of MV-algebras and are an algebraic counterpart of the non-commutative Łukasiewicz infinite valued logic. We introduce monadic
GMV-algebras and describe their connections to certain couples of GMV-algebras and to left adjoint mappings of canonical embeddings of GMV-algebras. Furthermore, functional MGMV-algebras are studied and polyadic GMV-algebras are introduced and discussed.

In this paper we consider the formally symmetric differential expressionM [.] of any order (odd or even) ≥ 2. We characterise the dimension of the quotient spaceD(T
max)/D(T
min) associated withM[.] in terms of the behaviour of the determinants det [[f
rgs](∞)] where 1 ≤n ≤ (order of the expression +1); here [fg](∞) = lim [fg](x), where [fg](x) is the sesquilinear form in f andg associated withM. These results generalise the well-known theorem thatM is in the limit-point case at ∞ if and only if [fg](∞) = 0 for everyf, g ε the maximal domain Δ associated withM. 相似文献

We study the message queueing delays in a node of a communication system, where a message consists of a block of consecutive packets. The message delay is defined as the time elapsing between the arrival epoch of the first packet of the message to the system until after the transmission of the last packet of that message is completed. We distinguish between two types of message generation processes. The message can be generated as abatch or it can bedispersed over time. In this paper we focus on the dispersed generation model. The main difficulty in the analysis is due to the correlation between the system states observed by different packets of the same message. This paper introduces a new technique to analyze the message delay in such systems for different arrival models and different number of sessions. For anM/M/1 system with variable size messages and for the bursty traffic model, we obtain an explicit expression for the Laplace-Stieltjes transform (LST) of the message delay. Derivations are also provided for anM/G/1 system, for multiple session systems and for fixed message sizes. We show that the correlation has a strong effect on the performance of the system, and that the commonly usedindependence assumption, i.e., the assumption that the delays of packets are independent from packet to packet, can lead to wrong conclusions. 相似文献

UniversalC*-algebrasC*(A) exist for certain topological *-algebras called algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. A Frechet *-algebraA has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if every operator representation ofA mapsA into bounded operators. This is proved by showing that every unbounded operator representation π, continuous in the uniform
topology, of a topological *-algebraA, which is an inverse limit of Banach *-algebras, is a direct sum of bounded operator representations, thereby factoring through
the enveloping pro-C*-algebraE(A) ofA. Given aC*-dynamical system (G,A,α), any topological *-algebraB containingC

IfG = ℝ, ifB is an α-invariant dense Frechet *-subalgebra ofA such thatE(B) =A, and if the action α onB ism-tempered, smooth and by continuous *-automorphisms: then the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,B,α) satisfiesE(S(ℝ,B,α)) =C*(ℝ,A,α).
