Interactions of disturbances in a hypersonic boundary layer on a porous surface are considered within the framework of the weakly nonlinear stability theory. Acoustic and vortex waves in resonant three-wave systems are found to interact in the weak redistribution mode, which leads to weak decay of the acoustic component and weak amplification of the vortex component. Three-dimensional vortex waves are demonstrated to interact more intensively than two-dimensional waves. The feature responsible for attenuation of nonlinearity is the presence of a porous coating on the surface, which absorbs acoustic disturbances and amplifies vortex disturbances at high Mach numbers. Vanishing of the pumping wave, which corresponds to a plane acoustic wave on a solid surface, is found to assist in increasing the length of the regions of linear growth of disturbances and the laminar flow regime. In this case, the low-frequency spectrum of vortex modes can be filled owing to nonlinear processes that occur in vortex triplets.  相似文献

The interaction between disturbances in the hypersonic boundary layer on impermeable and porous surfaces is considered within the framework of weakly-nonlinear stability theory. It is established that on the impermeable surface nonlinear interactions between different waves (acoustic and vortex) occur in the parametric resonance regime. The role of pumping wave is played by a plane acoustic wave. The nonlinear interactions take place over a wide frequency range and can lead to the packet growth of Tollmien-Schlichting waves. On the porous surface the analogous interactions are fairly weak and result in a slight decay of the acoustic mode and a slight amplification of the vortex mode. This leads to the dragging out of the laminar flow regime and the regions of linear disturbance growth. In this situation the low-frequency spectrum of the vortex modes may be filled on account of the nonlinear processes occurring in the three-wave systems between the vortex components.  相似文献

The interaction of disturbances in the compressible boundary layers on both impermeable and porous surfaces is considered in the linear and nonlinear approximations (weakly-nonlinear stability theory) in the presence of surface cooling. The regimes of moderate (Mach number M = 2) and high (M = 5.35) supersonic velocities are considered. It is established that surface cooling leads a considerable change in the linear evolution of the disturbances, namely, the first-mode vortex disturbances are stabilized, whereas the second-mode acoustic disturbances are destabilized, the variation degree being determined by the temperature factor. A porous coating used for controlling flow regimes influences the stability in the opposite fashion. For vortex waves the nonlinear interactions in three-wave systems at M = 2 are considerably attenuated in the presence of cooling. It might be expected that the cooling of the surface can delay the laminar regime for M = 2 and accelerate transition to turbulence for M = 5.35.  相似文献

We consider the flow and heat transfer caused by a strong external flow passing over a hot surface with uniform surface suction. When the Péclet number based on the external velocity is sufficiently large, the resulting thermal boundary layer develops in a nonsimilar manner until it attains an asymptotic state which is independent of the streamwise coordinate, x, when it is dominated by the surface suction. For sufficiently large, but moderate, values of the Darcy–Rayleigh number this boundary layer becomes unstable to streamwise vortex disturbances. We employ a parabolic solver to determine how such disturbances, when placed very close to the leading edge, evolve with distance downstream. Neutral stability is then defined to be when a suitable energy functional ceases to decay/grow as x increases. Thus a neutral curve may be mapped out based upon the behaviour of this functional. Given that the uniform asymptotic state is well known to admit subcritical instabilities, our linearised analysis is extended into the nonlinear domain and the effect of different magnitudes of disturbance is ascertained. It is found that a surprisingly rich variety of vortex pattern emerges which is sometimes sensitively dependent on the values of the governing parameters. These patterns include wavy vortices and abrupt changes in perceived wavelength.  相似文献

The effects of suction/injection on steady laminar mixed convection boundary layer flow over a permeable horizontal surface of a wedge in a viscous and incompressible fluid is considered in this paper. The similarity solutions of the governing boundary layer equations are obtained for some values of the suction/injection parameter f 0, the constant exponent m of the wall temperature as well as the mixed convection parameter λ. The resulting system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations is solved numerically for both assisting and opposing flow regimes using an implicit finite-difference scheme known as the Keller-box method. Numerical results for the reduced skin friction coefficient, the local Nusselt number, and the velocity and temperature profiles are obtained for various values of parameters considered. Dual solutions are found to exist for the case of opposing flow.  相似文献

An unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow over a shrinking permeable sheet embedded in a moving viscous electrically conducting fluid is investigated both analytically and numerically. The velocity slip at the solid surface is taken into account in the boundary conditions. A novel analytical method named DTMBF is proposed and used to get the approximate analytical solutions to the nonlinear governing equation along with the boundary conditions at infinity. All analytical results are compared with those obtained by a numerical method. The comparison shows good agreement, which validates the accuracy of the DTM-BF method. Moreover, the existence ranges of the dual solutions and the unique solution for various parameters are obtained. The effects of the velocity slip parameter, the unsteadiness parameter, the magnetic parameter, the suction/injection parameter, and the velocity ratio parameter on the skin friction, the unique velocity, and the dual velocity profiles are explored, respectively.  相似文献

The nonlinear problem of boundary layer instability under the influence of a plane vortex is investigated for high Reynolds numbers. The vortex occupies the entire thickness of the boundary layer and has a longitudinal dimension of the order of the Tollmien-Schlichting wavelength. The initial vortex is rapidly swept away by the flow, inducing a Stokes layer near the surface of the plate. Expanding, this layer reaches the dimensions of the viscous sublayer of free interaction theory, where wave packet generation takes place. In the case in question a feature of the nonlinear stage of development of the disturbances is the formation of a concentrated vortex, which arises in the Stokes layer and grows rapidly, whereas the wave packet propagated ahead of it remains linear. From the calculations there emerges a tendency for the new vortex to be formed above the wail, whereas the maximum vorticity of the vortex generated in the Stokes layer corresponds to the wall itself.Translated from Izvestiya Rossiiskoi Akademii Nauk, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No.1, pp. 70–77, January–February, 1993.The authors are grateful to V. The problem of Marangoni convection boundary layer flow that can be formed along the interface of two immiscible fluids when the wall is permeable, where there is suction or injection effect, is considered. Similarity equations are obtained through the application of similarity transformation techniques. The effects of suction/injection and radiation parameters on the heat transfer characteristics are numerically studied using the shooting method for a fixed value of the Prandtl number (Pr=0.7). Numerical results are obtained for the surface temperature gradient or the heat transfer rate as well as the temperature profiles for some values of the governing parameters. Comparisons with known results from the open literature show very good agreements. The results indicate that the heat transfer rate at the surface decreases as the radiation parameter increases. Further, results show that multiple (dual) solutions exist for a certain range of the governing parameters.  相似文献

An analysis is performed to study a laminar boundary layer flow over a porous flat plate with injection or suction imposed at the wall. The basic equations of this problem are reduced to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations by means of appropriate transformations. These equations are solved analytically by the optimal homotopy asymptotic method (OHAM), and the solutions are compared with the numerical solution (NS). The effect of uniform suction/injection on the heat transfer and velocity profile is discussed. A constant surface temperature in thermal boundary conditions is used for the horizontal flat plate.  相似文献

The turbulent-freestream-generated disturbances in the flat-plate boundary layer are studied. As distinct from the conventional representation of turbulence as superposition of exponentially decaying vortex disturbances frozen in the flow and satisfying the linearized Navier-Stokes equations, a model used takes account for their nonlinear development. Its basic features are the deviation of the phase velocity of vortex disturbances from the flow velocity and their slower decay. The model makes it possible to adequately describe the experimentally observable dependences of the velocity fluctuations in the boundary layer and their spectra on the stream wise coordinate.  相似文献

Sufficient conditions are found for the existence of similar solutions of the mixed convection flow of a Powell-Eyring fluid over a nonlinear stretching permeable sur- face in the presence of magnetic field. To achieve this, one parameter linear group trans- formation is applied. The governing momentum and energy equations are transformed to nonlinear ordinary differential equations by use of a similarity transformation. These equations are solved by the homotopy analysis method (HAM) to obtain the approximate solutions. The effects of magnetic field, suction, and buoyancy on the Powell-Eyring fluid flow with heat transfer inside the boundary layer are analyzed. The effects of the non- Newtonian fluid (Powell-Eyring model) parameters ε and δon the skin friction and local heat transfer coefficients for the cases of aiding and opposite flows are investigated and discussed. It is observed that the momentum boundary layer thickness increases and the thermal boundary layer thickness decreases with the increase in ε whereas the momentum boundary layer thickness decreases and thermal boundary layer thickness increases with the increase in δ for both the aiding and opposing mixed convection flows.  相似文献

We investigate the linear and nonlinear instability of a planar liquid sheet with surrounding fluids between two parallel plane solid walls. Linear analysis shows that the maximum temporal growth rate and unstable wave number region of disturbances increase for the dilational and sinuous modes when the gap between the sheet and the wall decreases. The walls have more influence on the instability when the density ratio of the surrounding fluid to the sheet and/or the Weber number decrease. On the other hand, nonlinear analysis is performed by means of the discrete vortex method, where double vortex rows and their mirror images are placed so as to satisfy the boundary condition on the walls. Numerical results show that the walls enhance nonlinearity, which causes deformation and distortion of the sheet, whereas the nonlinearity diminishes linear growth rates except for long dilational disturbances. In particular, as the walls are placed more closely to the sheet, local sheet thinning becomes more pronounced in the long dilational mode, while the dilational mode is more strongly induced from the sinuous mode through monotonic or periodic energy exchanges between the two modes.  相似文献

In the present paper laminar free convective heat transfer on flat permeable horizontal plates is investigated. To assess the effect of surface suction or injection on heat transfer a correction factor, provided by the film model (or “film theory”), is applied. Comparing the film model predictions with numerical results of previous boundary layer analyses yields good agreement for a wide range of dimensionless transpiration levels.  相似文献

The diffusion‐thermo and thermal‐diffusion effects on heat and mass transfer by mixed convection boundary layer flow over a vertical isothermal permeable surface embedded in a porous medium were studied numerically in the presence of chemical reaction with temperature‐dependent viscosity. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into a set of coupled ordinary differential equations, which are solved numerically by using Runge–Kutta method with shooting technique. Numerical results are obtained for the velocity, temperature and concentration distributions, and the local skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number and local Sherwood number for several values of the parameters, namely, the variable viscosity parameter, suction/injection parameter, Darcy number, chemical reaction parameter, and Dufour and Soret numbers. The obtained results are presented graphically and in tabulated form, and the physical aspects of the problem are discussed. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The steady natural convection flow on a horizontal cone embedded in a saturated porous medium with non-uniform wall temperature/concentration or heat/mass flux and suction/injection has been investigated. Non-similar solutions have been obtained. The nonlinear coupled differential equations under boundary layer approximations governing the flow have been numerically solved. The Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are found to depend on the buoyancy forces, suction/injection rates, variation of wall temperature/concentration or heat/mass flux, Lewis number and the non-Darcy parameter.  相似文献

New effects accompanying energy separation on a permeable surface are revealed in numerically modeling turbulent boundary layer flows. It is shown, in particular, that stratification is considerably higher in the case of gas suction from a supersonic flow than in the case of injection. This effect is most clearly expressed for low-Prandtl-number gases.  相似文献

The present paper is concerned with a class of exact solutions to the steady Navier-Stokes equations for the incompressible Newtonian viscous fluid flow motion due to a porous disk rotating with a constant angular speed. The three-dimensional equations of motion are treated analytically yielding derivation of exact solutions with suction and injection through the surface included. The well-known thinning/thickening flow field effect of the suction/injection is better understood from the exact velocity equations obtained. Making use of this solution, analytical formulas corresponding to the permeable wall shear stresses are extracted.Interaction of the resolved flow field with the surrounding temperature is further analyzed via the energy equation. As a result, exact formulas are obtained for the temperature field which take different forms depending on whether suction or injection is imposed on the wall. The impacts of several quantities are investigated on the resulting temperature field. In accordance with the Fourier‘s heat law, a constant heat transfer from the porous disk to the fluid takes place. Although the influence of dissipation varies, suction enhances the heat transfer rate as opposed to the injection.  相似文献
