We show that the locally scale invariant Weyl theory of gravity is the gauge theory of the conformal group. Proper conformal transformations are gauged by a non-propagating gauge field.A gauge theory for the superconformal group is obtained which is locally scale, Lorentz, and chiral invariant but not locally supersymmetric despite remarkable cancellations.  相似文献

We construct the supersymmetric nonlinear sigma model in a fixed AdS5 background. We use component fields and find that the complex bosons must be the coordinates of a hyper-Kähler manifold that admits a Killing vector satisfying an inhomogeneous tri-holomorphic condition. We propose boundary conditions that map the on-shell bulk hypermultiplets into off-shell chiral multiplets on 3-branes that foliate the bulk. The supersymmetric AdS5 isometries reduce to superconformal transformations on the brane fields.  相似文献

Some aspects of the moduli space of superconformal field theories are discussed. It is helpful to consider the conformal field theory as a background for propagation of strings and to exploit the space-time interpretation. Using this point of view we show that the metric on the moduli space of N = 4 superconformal field theory with c = 6 is locally that of O(20,4)/O(20) × O(4). We also discover some properties of the moduli space of N = 2 superconformal field theories with c = 9. Particular examples of these conformal field theories are sigma models on four- and six-dimensional Calabi-Yau spaces. Therefore, we can use this technique to learn about the moduli space of these spaces. For c = 6 we recover the known moduli space of K3. Our analysis of the c = 9 system leads to a new coupling in four dimensional supergravity. As a by-product, we prove that gauge couplings cannot depend on the moduli of N = 1 space-time supersymmetric compactifications.  相似文献

We investigate the role of symmetries for charged perfect fluids by assuming that spacetime admits a conformal Killing vector. The existence of a conformal symmetry places restrictions on the model. It is possible to find a general relationship for the Lie derivative of the electromagnetic field along the integral curves of the conformal vector. The electromagnetic field is mapped conformally under particular conditions. The Maxwell equations place restrictions on the form of the proper charge density.  相似文献

A general two-dimensional fractional supersymmetric conformal field theory is investigated. The structure of the symmetries of the theory is studied. Applying the generators of the closed subalgebra generated by and , the two point functions of the component fields of supermultiplets are calculated. Then the logarithmic superconformal field theories are investigated and the chiral and full two point functions are obtained. In this text we combine the notions of supergeometry and supersymmetry. We construct a special class of supermanifolds whose reduced manifolds are (pseudo-) Riemannian manifolds. These supermanifolds allow us to treat vector fields on the one hand and spinor fields on the other hand as equivalent geometric objects. This is the starting point of our definition of supersymmetric Killing structures. The latter combines subspaces of vector fields and spinor fields, provided they fulfill certain field equations. This naturally leads to a superalgebra which extends the supersymmetry algebra to the case of non-flat reduced space. We examine in detail the additional terms which enter into this structure and we give a lot of examples.  相似文献

This paper deals with the existence of proper conformal Killing vectors(CKVs) in Kantowski-Sachs metric.Subject to some integrability conditions, the general form of vector filed generating CKVs and the conformal factor is presented. The integrability conditions are solved generally as well as in some particular cases to show that the nonconformally flat Kantowski-Sachs metric admits two proper CKVs, while it admits a 15-dimensional Lie algebra of CKVs in the case when it becomes conformally flat. The inheriting conformal Killing vectors(ICKVs), which map fluid lines conformally, are also investigated.  相似文献

We report on the new approach to constructing superconformal extensions of the Calogerotype systems with an arbitrary number of involved particles. It is based upon the superfield gauging of non-Abelian isometries of some supersymmetric matrix models. Among its applications, we focus on the new N = 4 superconformal system yielding the U(2)-spin Calogero model in the bosonic sector, and the one-particle case of this system, which is a new OSp(4|2) superconformal mechanics with nondynamical U(2) spin variables. The characteristic feature of thesemodels is that the strength of the conformal inverse-square potential is quantized.  相似文献

N = 4 superconformal quantum mechanics of nonrelativistic particles in the typical 1/x2-potentials, which holds not only supersymmetry but also dynamical conformal symmetry, is studied. We investigate the asymptotic dynamics of topological anti-de Sitter supergravity in two dimensions. Starting from the formulation as a BF theory, it is shown that the AdS2 boundary conditions imply that the asymptotic symmetries form a super-Virasoro algebra. Using the central charge of this algebra in Cardy’s formula, we exactly reproduce the thermodynamical entropy of AdS2 black holes. Furthermore, we show that the dynamics of the dilaton and its superpartner reduces to that of superconformal transformations that leave invariant one chiral component of the stress tensor supercurrent of a two-dimensional conformal field theory. This dynamics is governed by a supersymmetric extension of the de Alfaro-Fubini-Furlan model of conformal quantum mechanics. Finally, two-dimensional de Sitter gravity is also considered, and the dS2 entropy is computed by counting CFT states.  相似文献

Some restrictions on the existence of homothetic and conformal vector fields in space-times which already admit some Killing symmetry are established. In particular, the behaviour of Weyl invariants and the nature of the Petrov type of the Weyl tensor along the integral curves of conformal vector fields are studied. This results in important restrictions between conformal vector fields and Killing orbits. A brief remark is made on Weyl collineations.  相似文献

We investigate the conformal geometry of spherically symmetric spacetimes in general without specifying the form of the matter distribution. The general conformal Killing symmetry is obtained subject to a number of integrability conditions. Previous results relating to static spacetimes are shown to be a special case of our solution. The general inheriting conformal symmetry vector, which maps fluid flow lines conformally onto fluid flow lines, is generated and the integrability conditions are shown to be satisfied. We show that there exists a hypersurface orthogonal conformal Killing vector in an exact solution of Einstein’s equations for a relativistic fluid which is expanding, accelerating and shearing.  相似文献

Some stochastic evolutions of conformal maps can be described by SLE and may be linked to conformal field theory via stochastic differential equations and singular vectors in highest-weight modules of the Virasoro algebra. We review the Liouville theory calculation of the genus-one path integral for c 1 conformal models coupled to two-dimensional gravity. From the modular integrand we derive the existence of an infinite number of physical operators which are in one-to-one correspondence with the conformal primary fields and null states of the matter theory. We also calculate the torus path integral and find the spectrum of physical operators for superconformal models coupled to supergravity. The amplitude in the odd spin structure requires a special treatment and is found to be proportional to the Witten index of the matter theory.  相似文献

We give a mathematical construction of Euclidean quantum field theory on certain curved backgrounds. We focus on generalizing Osterwalder Schrader quantization, as these methods have proved useful to establish estimates for interacting fields on flat space-times. In this picture, a static Killing vector generates translations in Euclidean time, and the role of physical positivity is played by positivity under reflection of Euclidean time. We discuss the quantization of flows which correspond to classical space-time symmetries, and give a general set of conditions which imply that broad classes of operators in the classical picture give rise to well-defined operators on the quantum-field Hilbert space. In particular, Killing fields on spatial sections give rise to unitary groups on the quantum-field Hilbert space, and corresponding densely-defined self-adjoint generators. We construct the Schrödinger representation using a method which involves localizing certain integrals over the full manifold to integrals over a codimension-one submanifold. This method is called sharp-time localization, and implies reflection positivity.  相似文献

The paper consists mainly of two parts. In the first part, we obtain well-defined Killing spinor equations for the low-energy effective action of the bosonic string with the conformal anomaly term. We show that the conformal anomaly term is the only scalar potential that one can add into the action that is consistent with the Killing spinor equations. In the second part, we demonstrate that Kaluza–Klein theory can be gauged so that the Killing spinors are charged under the Kaluza–Klein vector. This gauging process generates a scalar potential with a maximum that gives rise to an AdS spacetime. We also construct solutions of these theories.  相似文献

Higher-order symmetries corresponding to Killing tensors are investigated. The intimate relation between Killing-Yano tensors and nonstandard supersymmetries is pointed out. In the Dirac theory on curved spaces, Killing-Yano tensors generate Dirac-type operators involved in interesting algebraic structures as dynamical algebras or even infinite dimensional algebras or superalgebras. The general results are applied to space-times which appear in modern studies. One presents the infinite dimensional superalgebra of Dirac type operators on the 4-dimensional Euclidean Taub-NUT space that can be seen as a twisted loop algebra. The existence of the conformal Killing-Yano tensors is investigated for some spaces with mixed 3-Sasakian structures.  相似文献

We investigate the propagation equations for the expansion, vorticity and shear for perfect fluid space-times which are geodesic. It is assumed that space-time admits a conformal Killing vector which is inheriting so that fluid flow lines are mapped conformally. Simple constraints on the electric and magnetic parts of the Weyl tensor are found for conformal symmetry. For homothetic vectors the vorticity and shear are free; they vanish for nonhomothetic vectors. We prove a conjecture for conformal symmetries in the special case of inheriting geodesic flows: there exist no proper conformal Killing vectors (ψ ;ab ≠ 0) for perfect fluids except for Robertson-Walker space-times. For a nonhomothetic vector field the propagation of the quantity ln (R ab u a u b ) along the integral curves of the symmetry vector is homogeneous.  相似文献
