In this paper, we give a new genus-3 topological recursion relation for Gromov-Witten invariants of compact symplectic manifolds. This formula also applies to intersection numbers on moduli spaces of spin curves. A by-product of the proof of this formula is a new relation in the tautological ring of the moduli space of 1-pointed genus-3 stable curves. We prove uniqueness of solutions to the Maxwell-Dirac system in the energy space, namely . We also give a proof for uniqueness of finite energy solutions to the Maxwell-Klein-Gordon equations, which is simpler than that given in [16]. Recently V. Yakhot, S. Orszag, and their co-workers have suggested that turbulent flows in various regions of space organize into a coherent hierarchy of weakly interacting superimposed approximate Beltrami flows. A mathematical framework is developed here to study organized Beltrami hierarchies in a systematic fashion. This framework is applied to several important classes of examples with universal Beltrami hierarchies. An analysis of the persistence of such Beltrami hierarchies is also presented for general solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations.Research partially supported by grant NSF DMS-860-2031. We consider the scalar wave equation in the Kerr geometry for Cauchy data which is smooth and compactly supported outside the event horizon. We derive an integral representation which expresses the solution as a superposition of solutions of the radial and angular ODEs which arise in the separation of variables. In particular, we prove completeness of the solutions of the separated ODEs. This integral representation is a suitable starting point for a detailed analysis of the long-time dynamics of scalar waves in the Kerr geometry. In a paper by Adams, Harnad, and Previato, a ring of Poisson commuting functions which produce isospectral Hamiltonian flows on a space of matrices was described and these flows were related to solutions of associated nonlinear partial differential equations (e.g., the Korteweg-deVries, nonlinear Schrödinger, and Boussinesq equations). We consider a model of hyperbolic conservation laws with damping and show that the solutions tend to those of a nonlinear parabolic equation time-asymptotically. The hyperbolic model may be viewed as isentropic Euler equations with friction term added to the momentum equation to model gas flow through a porous media. In this case our result justifies Darcy's law time-asymptotically. In this paper we study the Bogomol'nyi equations of the electroweak theory in the full plane. We will show that, for any distribution of the vortices, there exists a two parameter family of gauge-distinct solutions. We use SLE 6 paths to construct a process of continuum nonsimple loops in the plane and prove that this process coincides with the full continuum scaling limit of 2D critical site percolation on the triangular lattice – that is, the scaling limit of the set of all interfaces between different clusters. We investigate the rotation sets of billiards on the m-dimensional torus with one small convex obstacle and in the square with one small convex obstacle. In the first case the displacement function, whose averages we consider, measures the change of the position of a point in the universal covering of the torus (that is, in the Euclidean space), in the second case it measures the rotation around the obstacle. We construct a real compactification of the moduli space of punctured rational algebraic curves and show how its geometry yields operads governing homotopy Lie algebras, gravity algebras and Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras. We study conditions under which an odd symmetry of the integrand leads to localization of the corresponding integral over a (super)manifold. In this paper, we prove a rigidity theorem of asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds only under the assumptions on curvature. We consider the Cauchy problem for the massless scalar wave equation in the Kerr geometry for smooth initial data compactly supported outside the event horizon. We prove that the solutions decay in time in L loc. The proof is based on a representation of the solution as an infinite sum over the angular momentum modes, each of which is an integral of the energy variable ω on the real line.
