Abstract

We obtain analytical solutions, by way of the homotopy analysis method, to a nonlinear wave equation describing the nonlinear evolution of a vector potential of an electromagnetic pulse propagating in an arbitrary pair plasma with temperature asymmetry. As the method is analytical, we are able to construct peaked structures which propagate through the pair plasma, analogous to peakon solutions. These solutions are obtained through a novel matching of inner and outer homotopy solutions. In order to ensure that our analytical results are valid over the whole real line, we also discuss the convergence of the analytical results to the true solution, through minimization of the residual errors resulting from an approximate analytical solution. These results demonstrate the existence of peaked pulses propagating through a pair plasma. The algebraic decay rate of the pulses are determined analytically, as well. The method discussed here can be applied to approximate solutions to similar nonlinear partial differential equations of nonlinear Schr¨odinger type.  相似文献

We prove a theorem on the existence of solutions of some nonlinear functional integral equations in the Banach algebra of continuous functions on the interval [0,a]. Then we consider a nonlinear integral equation of fractional order and give some sufficient conditions for existence of solutions of this equation. We use fixed point theorems associated with the measure of noncompactness as the main tool. Our existence results include several results obtained in previous studies. Finally we present some examples which show that our results are applicable.  相似文献

We study the existence and nonexistence of positive periodic solutions of a non-autonomous functional differential equation with impulses. The equations we study may be of delay, advance or mixed type functional differential equations and the impulses may cause the existence of positive periodic solutions. The methods employed are fixed-point index theorem, Leray-Schauder degree, and upper and lower solutions. The results obtained are new, and some examples are given to illustrate our main results.  相似文献

We study the existence of nondecreasing solutions of a quadratic singular Volterra integral equation in the space of continuous functions on bounded interval. The main tool utilized in our considerations is the technique associated with certain measure of noncompactness related to monotonicity. The results obtained in the paper may be applied to a wide class of singular Volterra integral equations.  相似文献

We consider Cauchy problems for the 1-D one component Vlasov-Poisson and Fokker-Planck-Poisson equations with the initial electron density being in the natural space of arbitrary non-negative finite measures. In particular, the initial density can be a Dirac measure concentrated on a curve, which we refer to as “electron sheet” initial data. These problems resemble both structurally and functional analytically Cauchy problems for the 2-D Euler and Navier-Stokes equations (in vorticity formulation) with vortex sheet initial data. Here, we need to define weak solutions more specifically than usual since the product of a finite measure with a function of bounded variation is involved. We give a natural definition of the product, establish its weak stability, and existence of weak solutions follows. Our concept of weak solutions through the newly defined product is justified since solutions to the Fokker-Planck-Poisson equation, the analogue of Navier-Stokes equation, are shown to converge to weak solutions of the Vlasov-Poisson equation as the Fokker-Planck term vanishes. The main difficulty is the aforementioned weak stability which we establish through a careful analysis of the explicit structure of these equations. This is needed because the problem studied here is beyond the range of applicability of the “velocity averaging” compactness methods of DiPerna-Lions. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We study in this work the global existence of solutions to a system of reaction cross diffusion equations appearing in the modeling of multiple sclerosis, in the one-dimensional case. Weak solutions are obtained for general initial data, and existence, uniqueness, stability and smoothness are proven when initial data are smooth.

We study some properties of piecewise linear differential systems describing gene regulatory networks, where the dynamics are governed by sigmoid-type nonlinearities which are close to or coincide with the step functions. To overcome the difficulty of describing the dynamics of the system near singular stationary points (belonging to the discontinuity set of the system) we use the concept of Filippov solutions. It consists in replacing discontinuous differential equations with differential inclusions. The global existence and some other basic properties of the Filippov solutions such as continuous dependence on parameters are studied. We also study the uniqueness and non-uniqueness of the Filippov solutions in singular domains. The concept of Filippov stationary point is extensively exploited in the paper. We compare two ways of defining the singular stationary points: one is based on the Filippov theory and the other consists in replacing step functions with steep sigmoids and investigating the smooth systems thus obtained. The results are illustrated by a number of examples.  相似文献

We study the initial boundary value problem to the system of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations coupled with the Maxwell equations through the Lorentz force in a bounded annulus Ω of R3. We investigate a coupled system of fractional differential equations with nonlinearities depending on the unknown functions as well as their lower order fractional derivatives supplemented with coupled nonlocal and integral boundary conditions. We emphasize that the problem considered in the present setting is new and provides further insight into the study of nonlocal nonlinear coupled boundary value problems. We present two results in this paper: the first one dealing with the uniqueness of solutions for the given problem is established by applying contraction mapping principle, while the second one concerning the existence of solutions is obtained via Leray–Schauder’s alternative. We consider the existence problem for local (with respect to time) solutions of quasilinear evolutionary partial differential equations and inequalities with singular coefficients and initial conditions. In this paper, Adomian’s decomposition method is used to solve non-linear differential equations which arise in fluid dynamics. We study basic flow problems of a third grade non-Newtonian fluid between two parallel plates separated by a finite distance. The technique of Adomian decomposition is successfully applied to study the problem of a non-Newtonian plane Couette flow, fully developed plane Poiseuille flow and plane Couette–Poiseuille flow. The results obtained show the reliability and efficiency of this analytical method. Numerical solutions are also obtained by solving non-linear ordinary differential equations using Chebyshev spectral method. We present a comparative study between the analytical solutions and numerical solutions. The analytical results are found to be in good agreement with numerical solutions which reveals the effectiveness and convenience of the Adomian decomposition method.  相似文献

We study here the Vlasov-Maxwell system in its classical and relativistic form. We prove the stability of solutions in weak topologies and deduce from this stability result the global existence of a weak solution with large initial data. The main tools consist of a new regularity result for velocity averages of solutions of some general linear transport equations and the method of renormalization introduced by the authors in previous work.  相似文献

We study the problem of the existence of periodic solutions of two-dimensional linear inhomogeneous periodic systems of differential equations for which the corresponding homogeneous system is Hamiltonian. We propose a new numerical-analytic algorithm for the investigation of the problem of the existence of periodic solutions of two-dimensional nonlinear differential systems with Hamiltonian linear part and their construction. We consider a model arising from biology, consisting of chemotaxis equations coupled to viscous incompressible fluid equations through transport and external forcing. Global existence of solutions to the Cauchy problem is investigated under certain conditions. Precisely, for the chemotaxis-Navier-Stokes system in two space dimensions, we obtain global existence for large data. In three space dimensions, we prove global existence of weak solutions for the chemotaxis-Stokes system with nonlinear diffusion for the cell density.  相似文献
