Using the functional calculus for a normal operator, we provide a result for generalized Toeplitz operators, analogous to the theorem of Axler and Shields on harmonic extensions of the disc algebra. Besides that result, we prove that if is an injective subnormal weighted shift, then any two nontrivial subspaces invariant under cannot be orthogonal to each other. Then we show that the -algebra generated by and the identity operator contains all the compact operators as its commutator ideal, and we give a characterization of that -algebra in terms of generalized Toeplitz operators. Motivated by these results, we further obtain their several-variable analogues, which generalize and unify Coburn's theorems for the Hardy space and the Bergman space of the unit ball.

A result of Segal states that every complex irreducible representation of a finitely generated nilpotent group G is monomial if and only if G is abelian-by-finite. A conjecture of Parshin, recently proved affirmatively by Beloshapka and Gorchinskii (2016), characterizes the monomial irreducible representations of finitely generated nilpotent groups. This article gives a slightly shorter proof of the conjecture using ideas of Kutzko and Brown. We also give a characterization of the finite-dimensional irreducible representations of two-step nilpotent groups and describe these completely for two-step groups whose center has rank one.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish formulas for the configuration of a special class of irreducible representations of the Cuntz algebra , . These irreducible representations arise as subrepresentations of naturally occurring representations of acting in and arise from consideration of multiresolution wavelet filters.

A characterization of the quasi-split property for an inclusion of -algebras in terms of the metrically nuclear maps is established. This result extends the known characterization relative to inclusions of -factors. An application to type von Neumann algebras is also presented.

Let L be a Lie algebra, nilpotent of class 2, over an infinite field K, and suppose that the centre C of L is one dimensional; such Lie algebras are called Heisenberg algebras. Let ρ:L→hom KV be a finite dimensional representation of the Heisenberg algebra L such that ρ(C) contains non-singular linear transformations of V, and denote l(ρ) the ideal of identities for the representation ρ. We prove that the ideals of identities of representations containing I(ρ) and generated by multilinear polynomials satisfy the ACC. Let sl 2(L) be the Lie algebra of the traceless 2×2 matrices over K, and suppose the characteristic of K equals 2. As a corollary we obtain that the ideals of identities of representations of Lie algebras containing that of the regular representation of sl 2(K) and generated by multilinear polynomials, are finitely based. In addition we show that one cannot simply dispense with the condition of multilinearity. Namely, we show that the ACC is violated for the ideals of representations of Lie algebras (over an infinite field of characteristic 2) that contain the identities of the regular representation of sl 2(K).  相似文献

We extend classical results of Kostant et al. on multiplets of representations of finite-dimensional Lie algebras and on the cubic Dirac operator to the setting of affine Lie algebras and twisted affine cubic Dirac operator. We prove in this setting an analogue of Vogan's conjecture on infinitesimal characters of Harish-Chandra modules in terms of Dirac cohomology. For our calculations we use the machinery of Lie conformal and vertex algebras.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain all the semiclassical linear functionals of class two taking into account the irreducible expression of the corresponding Pearson equation. We focus our attention in their integral representations. The behavior of the images of a fixed element of order in irreducible representations of a classical algebraic group in characteristic with highest weights large enough with respect to and this element is investigated. More precisely, let be a classical algebraic group of rank over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 2$">. Assume that an element of order is conjugate to that of an algebraic group of the same type and rank naturally embedded into . Next, an integer function on the set of dominant weights of and a constant that depend only upon , and a polynomial of degree one are defined. It is proved that the image of in the irreducible representation of with highest weight contains more than Jordan blocks of size if and are not too small and .

Using the technique of block-operators, in this note, we prove that if P and Q are idempotents and (P - Q)^2n+1 is in the trace class, then (P - Q)^2m+1 is also in the trace class and tr(P - Q)^2m+1 = dim(k(P) ∩ k(Q)^⊥) -dim(k(P)^⊥ N k(Q)), for all m ≥ n. Moreover, we prove that dim(k(P)∩ k(Q)^⊥) = dim(k(P)^⊥ ∩k(Q)) if and only if there exists a unitary U such that UP = QU and PU = UQ, where k(T) denotes the range of T.
