In this paper, we present a novel technique for high precision optical beam steering of optical phased arrays (OPA) using mixed weighting method. Optimal OPA parameters are determined to obtain the best beam directivity by minimizing the main lobe width and eliminating grating lobes of the far field diffraction pattern. The quantitative analysis for a fibre-type optical phased array is given. The calculation results demonstrate that the grating lobe level can be distinctly reduced from 80% to 20% of the main lobe level. Thus, the mixed weighting technique proposed in this paper can substantially improve the beam steering efficiency and the beam quality. 相似文献

Measurements of particle size distributions in multi-phase flows with a phase-Doppler anemometer yield incorrect results if polydisperse particles are investigated. For weighting biased size distributions, different in situ methods, requiring the size of the detection area, are known, but all of these weighting procedures are restricted to very small measuring volumes if off-axis instrument configurations are considered. Moreover, the weighting functions have some disadvantages in the case of poor statistics in single size classes or the results are not suitable for determining the size of the detection area for particles which are larger than the beam waist. Therefore, the intention in this work was to measure the size of the detection area for different kinds of monodisperse particles, different instrument configurations and varied instrument sensitivities experimentally and to develop an improved weighting procedure that copes with the above difficulties. The application of the results obtained from the investigations with monodisperse particles to measured particle size distributions and volume flux densities of polydisperse water droplets in a spray cone of an atomizer confirms the applicability of this weighting procedure. It is still restricted to directed flows, perpendicular to the fringes. 相似文献

With a view to measuring the structure coefficient of refractive index fluctuations in a turbulent premixed butane-air flame, a thin laser beam is sent into the flame perpendicular to the flow direction. The laser beam generally undergoes fluctuations of direction, phase, and amplitude. Only the random deflections of the laser beam may be taken into account. After having traversed the flame, the perturbed laser beam enters into an interferometric system. Materials and experimental procedure are described. In the unperturbed interference pattern, the zones only sensitive to fluctuations of the angle-of-arrival of the laser beam are detected. From the random displacements of the central bright fringe, the structure coefficient of refractive index fluctuations in the flame is measured. To prove that the method of measurement is satisfactory, the result obtained is applied for computing the power spectral density of the angle-of-arrival of the laser beam from the formula of correlations of the laser beam deflection angles which we have demonstrated in previous works. This computed power spectral density is compared to that measured from the effective position of the detector. A good agreement is observed between the two results. 相似文献

相干合成技术是实现高功率、高亮度光纤激光系统的重要技术途径.然而, 脉冲激光阵列中常常存在时域误差,这将影响脉冲激光的相干合成效果. 建立了脉冲激光存在时域误差时的相干合成理论模型,并在不同波形(方波、三角波、正弦波) 的脉冲激光存在时域误差时,对相干合成光束在远场的脉冲波形、峰值功率、 光强分布和桶中功率(PIB)等特性进行了数值计算和对比分析.计算结果表明: 方波脉冲激光相干合成光束的脉冲波形受时域误差影响严重,光强分布和PIB随着时域误差 的增大发生线性变化;三角波脉冲激光相干合成光束的脉冲波形和峰值功率受时域误差 影响严重,光强分布和PIB在时域误差较大时随着时域误差的增大发生较为剧烈的变化; 正弦波脉冲激光相干合成光束具有较好的输出特性,在两路正弦波脉冲激光相干合成中, 将两脉冲之间的时延控制在脉冲持续时间的10%以内,就能取得良好的合成效果. 相似文献

The performance of terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD) has been studied by modelling the semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) in which the intraband effects had been taken into account. Numerical results are coincident with the experiment results. We interpret why there are three peaks in the switching window, which has never been reported before. In addition, we put forward the definition of the flatness of the switching window of TOAD for the first time By analysing the different phase of clockwise and counter clockwise signal pulse changed by SOA, appropriate peak power of control pulse and wavelength of signal and control pulse have been calculated in order to obtain large output power and flat switching window of TOAD. 相似文献

Many materials have been tested as substrates and surface products. Typically ferrous (Carbon Steels and Stainless Steels) and non-ferrous (Al and Cu metals and its alloys) materials have been employed. Some epoxy, polyurethane, polyester and acrylic paints with different thickness and colour have been tested. Many types of surface rust and oxide on different bulk material have been undertaken to test. Similarly, some different types of oils and greases commonly used in industry to prevent oxidation, have been studied. Different types of laser sources have been employed: an axial fast flow, 1.5 kW CO2 c.w. and pulsed laser source emitting a 10.6 7m beam; and a portable Nd:YAG laser, Q-switchedand normal-mode source: 1st harmonic 1.064 7m (6 ns pulse duration), 2nd harmonic 532 nm (120 7s duration pulse, 1 J max per pulse) wavelengths, multi-articulated seven mirror beam guiding device, 20 Hz repetition rate. In this paper it has been described part of the research devoted to the development of a complete non-intrusive experimental modal analysis procedure based on laser techniques both for excitation and for measurement. In particular, attention has been focused on the thermal effects generated by laser pulses on the excited structure. An analytical model of the energy exchange between the light pulse and the target surface is proposed together with a finite element model of thermal and mechanical behaviour of the structure under excitation. Both the models (analytical and numerical) have been experimentally validated by measuring the thermal and the vibration responses induced by the laser pulses. The experimental part of the study has been performed on a cantilever beam excited with laser pulses from an Nd : YAG source (532 nm, 100 mJ/pulse) using an high-speed infrared camera and a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer. Results from this work can be used to improve understanding concerning the features of laser excitation and to establish a mechanical equivalent system of forces and moments, useful in order to increase the accuracy in the measurements of modal parameters when laser pulses are used as excitation sources. 相似文献

Some efficient strategies for the active control of vibrations of a beam structure using piezoelectric materials are described. The control algorithms have been implemented for a cantilever beam model developed using finite element formulation. The vibration response of the beam to an impulse excitation has been calculated numerically for the uncontrolled and the controlled cases. The essence of the method proposed is that a feedback force in different modes be applied according to the vibration amplitude in the respective modes i.e., modes having lesser vibration may receive lesser feedback. This weighting may be done on the basis of either displacement or energy present in different modes. This method is compared with existing methods of modal space control, namely the independent modal space control (IMSC), and modified independent modal space control (MIMSC). The method is in fact an extension of the modified independent space control with the addition that it proposes to use the sum of weighted multiple modal forces for control. The proposed method results in a simpler feedback, which is easy to implement on a controller. The procedure is illustrated for vibration control of a cantilever beam. The analytical results show that the maximum feedback control voltage required in the proposed method is further reduced as compared to existing methods of IMSC and MIMSC for similar vibration control. A method is presented to calculate the driving-voltage weighting vector of a conformal array of underwater acoustic transmitting transducers to obtain a low-sidelobe beam pattern based on the measured receiving array manifold. The relationship among three quantities is given, which are, respectively, the radiated acoustic field, the measured receiving array manifold matrix and the driving-voltage weighting vector of the transducer array. Then, the driving-voltage weighting vector of the array is calculated using the optimization method to obtain a low-sidelobe transmitting beam pattern. At the frequency of 12.5 kHz, the receiving array manifold matrix of a 27-element conformal array is measured in an anechoic water tank. The driving-voltage weighting vector of the array is calculated using the proposed method. In addition, the computer simulation and experiments are carried out. The results agree well and show that the proposed method can obtain a low-sidelobe transmitting beam pattern and at the same time provide the largest amplitude of pressure in the axial direction when the maximum amplitude of the driving voltages of the array elements keeps unchanged. 相似文献

We illustrate the efficacy of a discrete wavelet based approach to characterize fluctuations in non-stationary time series. The present approach complements the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA) method and is quite accurate for small size data sets. As compared to polynomial fits in the MF-DFA, a single Daubechies wavelet is used here for detrending purposes. The natural, built-in variable window size in wavelet transforms makes this procedure well suited for non-stationary data. We illustrate the working of this method through the analysis of binomial multifractal model. For this model, our results compare well with those calculated analytically and obtained numerically through MF-DFA. To show the efficacy of this approach for finite data sets, we also do the above comparison for Gaussian white noise time series of different sizes. In addition, we analyze time series of three experimental data sets of tokamak plasma and also spin density fluctuations in 2D Ising model. 相似文献

北京大学射频超导实验室设计了新型超导光电子枪——DC-SC光阴极注入器,目标是为自由电子激光平台提供能量在2~3MeV,脉宽小于10ps,脉冲重复频率为81.25MHz,平均流强约为1mA的低发射度电子束。现在已经建成了DC-SC光阴极注入器实验平台,包括激光驱动光阴极系统,Pierce直流高压加速结构,1.3GHz 1+1/2纯铌超导腔,恒温器低温系统,4.5kW连续波微波系统,1/16分频与同步控制系统,束流诊断系统和能量分析系统等。并且完成了超导腔的静态实验,直流加速结构也经过了100μA低电流测试。实验结果符合设计要求,整体调试后即可以进行束载实验。 相似文献

In this paper, the effect of the laser pulse shape on the generation and evolution of the wakefield during the interaction of the intense laser pulse with the gas have been studied utilizing the parallel relativistic PIC simulation code. In order to reach this aim, three pulses with length 300 fs and different rise-times 30, 45, and 60 are typically selected. Our results show that, the amplitude of the laser wakefield produced in the gas in comparison with the plasma strongly depends on the laser pulse shape. The simulation results indicate that for the high-slope laser pulse time (here 30 fs), ionization and thus density fluctuations have no significant effect on the wakefield generation because of rapid increase of the laser electric field. While by increasing the laser pulse rise-time to 45 fs, the rapid wave breaking due to the change in the medium refractive index during the gas ionization, prevents from the wakefield amplitude growth, so that the wakefield with larger amplitude is emerged in the plasma. For a slow-sloping pulse (here 60 fs), the ratio of the wakefield generation in the gas to the plasma is altered for the different gas densities and laser intensities. Moreover, it is represented that the longer the laser pulse rise-time, the sooner difference between the wakefield produced in the gas and plasma is observed. In fact, the larger the rise-time, the greater the density fluctuations and, consequently, the larger the initial noise is generated to seed the Raman instability. 相似文献

If a laser beam illuminates a continual deformation object surface, it will lead to a temporal speckle pattern on the observation plane. Recording this time-dependent speckle pattern the deformation of the surface of an object can be obtained. Two methods, scanning phase method (SPM) and time sequence phase method (TSPM), have been introduced for measuring the displacement caused by the deformation in temporal speckle pattern interferometry (TSPI). Their principle is that by capturing a series of speckle interference patterns related to the object deformations, the fluctuations in the intensity of the interference patterns can be obtained. Through scanning these fluctuations and estimating both the average intensity and modulation of the temporal speckle interference patterns, the phase maps for whole-field displacements are calculated. In this way one is capable of quantitatively measuring continual displacements simply using a conventional electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) system without phase shifting or a carrier. The elaboration on the new methods is given in this paper and experiments are performed to demonstrate their performance with a conventional ESPI system. 相似文献

Modelling and analysis have been performed to show a link between laser collimation tolerances and dispersion effects in chirped pulse amplification (CPA) compressors. These show that an un-collimated beam can present itself as residual dispersion in a CPA system which uncorrected will have adverse effects on laser power and intensity. The techniques of shearing interferometry and beam propagation over large distances for setting beam collimation have been assessed for their limitations in measuring wavefront radii. An analysis of the sensitivity of CPA systems to non-collimated beams has been studied. This effect has been practically demonstrated for a high-power Nd:glass laser and the best techniques for alignment are discussed. 相似文献
