Manipulation of spontaneous emission from an atom confined in three kinds of modified reservoirs has been investigated by means of an elliptically polarized laser field. Some interesting phenomena such as the multi-peak structure, extreme spectral narrowing, and cancellation of spontaneous emission can be observed by adjusting controllable system parameters. Moreover, these phenomena depend on the constructive or destructive quantum interference between multiple decay channels and which can be changed appreciably by varying the phase difference between the two circularly polarized components of the probe field. These results demonstrate the importance of an elliptically polarized laser field in controlling the spontaneous emission and its potential applications in high-precision spectroscopy. 相似文献

Using the photon closed orbit theory, the spontaneous emission rate of a polarized atom in a medium between two parallel mirrors is derived and calculated. It is found that the spontaneous emission rate of a polarized atom between the mirrors is related to the atomic position and the polarization direction. The results show that in the vicinity of the mirror, the variation of the spontaneous emission rate depends crucially on the atomic polarization direction. With the increase of the polarization angle, the oscillation in the spontaneous emission rate becomes decreased. For the polarization direction parallel to the mirror plane, the oscillation is the greatest; while for the perpendicular polarization direction, the oscillation is nearly vanished. The agreement between our result and the quantum electrodynamics result suggests the correctness of our calculation. This study further verifies that the atomic spontaneous emission process can be effectively controlled by changing the polarization orientation of the atom. 相似文献

In this paper we investigate the optical properties of an open four-level tripod atomic system driven by an elliptically polarized probe field in the presence of the external magnetic field and compare its properties with the corresponding closed system.Our result reveals that absorption,dispersion and group velocity of probe field can be manipulated by adjusting the phase difference between the two circularly polarized components of a single coherent field,magnetic field and cavity parameters i.e.the atomic exit rate from cavity and atomic injection rates.We show that the system can exhibit multiple electromagnetically induced transparency windows in the presence of the external magnetic field.The numerical result shows that the probe field in the open system can be amplified by appropriate choice of cavity parameters,while in the closed system with introduce appropriate phase difference between fields the probe field can be enhanced.Also it is shown that the group velocity of light pulse can be controlled by external magnetic field,relative phase of applied fields and cavity parameters.By changing the parameters the group velocity of light pulse changes from subluminal to superluminal light propagation and vice versa. 相似文献

Electron-positron pair production rate created from vacuum in the presence of an elliptically polarized laser field is investigated.By applying the technique of two level transition amplitude,a routine for obtaining pair production rate is presented,and approximate analytical expressions are given both for the low frequency strong field regime and the high frequency weak field regime.We found that for an elliptically polarized field,the electron-positron pair production rate decrease when the elliptic eccentricity increase in the high frequency weak field regime,however,in the low frequency strong field regime,there is almost the same electron-positron pair production rate as in the constant electric field case. 相似文献

In this paper we present a general theoretical model for the interaction between a number of two-level atoms constituting Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) and a single-mode quantized field. In addition to the usual interacting terms, we take into account interatom as well as higher-order atom-field interactions. To simplify the Hamiltonian of system, after using the Bogoliubov approximation we proceed to calculate the transformed operators of atoms and field. Then, to quantify the spontaneous emission, we get analytical expressions for the expectation value of ?z as the atomic population inversion (API), in the cases of number and coherent states for the atomic subsystem. Our results show that the above-mentioned model interaction leads to the appearance of collapse-revival phenomenon in API. In more detail, the revival time may be tuned by adjusting the interatom interaction constant. Also, the damping process lowers the amplitude of API, but does not change the CR times for weak damping. Moreover, increasing the damping may decrease the number of CRs in a given interval of time such that no revival occurs. Briefly, it may be concluded that in the resonant case the revival times are insensitive to the change of the higher-order atom-field interaction constant and are affected only by the interatom interactions. Finally, we express that, how we can find a practical procedure to measure the quantum states of atoms in BEC. 相似文献

Electron-positron pair production in an arbitrary polarized ultrastrong laser field is investigated in the first order perturbation approximation in which the Volkov states are used for convenient calculation of scattering amplitude and cross section. It is found surprisingly that the optimal pair production depends strongly on the polarization. For some cases of field parameters, the optimal field is elliptically polarized or evenly circularly polarized one, rather than the usual linear polarization as indicated by previous works. Some insights into pair generation are given and some interesting unexpected features are also discussed briefly. 相似文献

We investigate the spontaneous emission spectrum of a five-level M-type atom driven by a microwave field, in which one lower level is coupled by the same modified reservoir to two upper levels. The results show that a few interesting phenomena in spontaneous emission spectra, such as spectral-line shift, spectral-line enhancement and spectral-line suppression, which can be controlled by adjusting the proper parameters of the system. 在紫外脉冲激光泵浦条件下,研究了有机材料EnBOD的放大自发发射(ASE)性能.EnBOD的甲苯稀溶液样品具有较窄的吸收和荧光光谱,主峰分别位于508 nm和527 nm.其ASE效率随着溶液浓度而变化,浓度为0.008 mol·L-的EnBOD样品具有最高的ASE效率,达到22.6%.其ASE主峰位于542 nm,阈值约为29.5 kW·cm-2.阈值后的ASE半宽约为12.4 nm.经紫外脉冲激光20万次泵浦后,ASE的光强衰减为初始强度的61.2%.结果表明EnBOD是一种ASE阈值较低、光稳定性良好的激光材料. 相似文献

利用光子的闭合轨道理论,我们研究了原子在两个平行镜面间两层电介质板(折射率分别为n1,n2)中的自发辐射率. 自发辐射率呈现出多周期的振荡结构。自发辐射率的傅立叶变换中的每一个峰和光子从原子出发到返回原子的一条闭合轨道相对应。结果表明自发辐射率和两层电介质的宽度和折射率有关。和只有一层电介质的辐射率比较,当两层电介质的折射率n1 和 n2 差别很小时, 两层电介质之间分界面的反射效应可以忽略;但是当二者的差别很大时,发射效应变得非常重要且自发辐射率中的振荡减弱。本文的结果为原子在不同电介质间的自发辐射率的研究提供了新的理解。 相似文献

We study a quantum electrodynamics(QED) system made of a two-level atom and a semi-infinite rectangular waveguide, which behaves as a perfect mirror in one end. The spatial dependence of the atomic spontaneous emission has been included in the coupling strength relevant to the eigenmodes of the waveguide. The role of retardation is studied for the atomic transition frequency far away from the cutoff frequencies. The atom-mirror distance introduces different phases and retardation times into the dynamics of the atom interacting resonantly with the corresponding transverse modes. It is found that the upper state population decreases from its initial as long as the atom-mirror distance does not vanish, and is lowered and lowered when more and more transverse modes are resonant with the atom. The atomic spontaneous emission can be either suppressed or enhanced by adjusting the atomic location for short retardation time.There are partial revivals and collapses due to the photon reabsorbed and re-emitted by the atom for long retardation time. 相似文献

For an atom in a medium with refractive index n sandwiched between two parallel mirrors, we derive an analytical formula for the spontaneous emission rate based on Fermi's golden rule. The oscillations are not transparent in this formula. By performing Fourier transform on scaling variable measuring system size while holding system configuration fixed, we extracted the frequencies of many oscillations in this system. We show that these oscillations correspond to emitted photon closed-orblts going away from and returning to the emitting atom. 相似文献

对压缩真空与V型三能级原子的相互作用作了理论分析, 探讨了量子干涉效应对压缩真空中原子自发辐射的影响。当原子的上能级简并时强的量子干涉效应影响原子的定态和定态出射光谱, 使它们对原子的初态敏感。这种情况下, 压缩使谱线趋于关于压缩真空中心频率对称, 量子干涉使谱线趋于不对称。通过用单电子近似求解含时薛定谔方程, 用加窗傅里叶分析的方法, 分析了单原子产生的高次谐波的时间特性。理论分析表明, 基态粒子数消耗对不同级次谐波辐射的影响程度不一样; 谐波辐射随着入射激光场强度的增加会出现饱和; 随着谐波级次的增加, 谐波辐射越来越趋向于集中在更短的时间间隔内, 相应的线宽也随着谐波级次的增加而增加。 相似文献

A four-level N-type atomic medium is considered to study the effect of spontaneous generated coherence(SGC) and Kerr nonlinearity on light pulse propagation. A light pulse is propagating inside the medium where each atom follows four-level N-type atom-field configuration of rubidium(85Rb) atom. The atom-field interaction leads to electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) process. The atom-field interaction is accompanied by normal dispersion and in the presence of SGC and Kerr nonlinearity the dispersion property of the proposed atomic medium is modified,which leads to enhancement of positive group index of the medium. The enhancement of positive group index then leads to slow group velocity inside the medium. A more slow group velocity is also investigated by incorporated the collective effect of SGC and Kerr nonlinearity. The control of group velocity inside a four-level N-type atomic medium via collective effect of SGC and Kerr nonlinearity is the major part of this work. 相似文献

We investigate the position dependent spontaneous emission spectra of a Λ-type three-level atom with one transition coupled to the free vacuum reservoir and the other one coupled to a double-band photonic band gap reservoir with a defect mode in the band gap.It is shown that,for the atom at the defect location,we have a two-peak spectrum with a wide dark line due to the strong coupling between the atom and the defect mode.While,when the atom is far from the defect location(or in the absence of the defect mode),the spectrum has three peaks with two dark lines due to the coupling between the atom and the photonic band gap reservoir with the largest density of states near the band edges.On the other hand,we have a four-peak spectrum for the atom at the space in between.Moreover,the average spontaneous emission spectra of the atoms uniformly embedded in high dielectric or low dielectric regions are described.It is shown that the atoms embedded in high(low) dielectric regions far from the defect location,effectively couple to the modes of the lower(upper) photonic band.However,the atoms embedded in high dielectric or low dielectric regions at the defect location,are coupled mainly to the defect modes.While,the atoms uniformly embedded in high(low) dielectric regions with a normal distance from the defect location,are coupled to both of defect and lower(upper) photonic band modes. 相似文献
