Laguerre geometry of surfaces in is given in the book of Blaschke [Vorlesungen über Differentialgeometrie, Springer, Berlin Heidelberg New York (1929)], and has been studied by Musso and Nicolodi [Trans. Am. Math. soc. 348, 4321–4337 (1996); Abh. Math. Sem. Univ. Hamburg 69, 123–138 (1999); Int. J. Math. 11(7), 911–924 (2000)], Palmer [Remarks on a variation problem in Laguerre geometry. Rendiconti di Mathematica, Serie VII, Roma, vol. 19, pp. 281–293 (1999)] and other authors. In this paper we study Laguerre differential geometry of hypersurfaces in . For any umbilical free hypersurface with non-zero principal curvatures we define a Laguerre invariant metric g on M and a Laguerre invariant self-adjoint operator : TM → TM, and show that is a complete Laguerre invariant system for hypersurfaces in with n≥ 4. We calculate the Euler–Lagrange equation for the Laguerre volume functional of Laguerre metric by using Laguerre invariants. Using the Euclidean space , the semi-Euclidean space and the degenerate space we define three Laguerre space forms , and and define the Laguerre embeddings and , analogously to what happens in the Moebius geometry where we have Moebius space forms S n , and (spaces of constant curvature) and conformal embeddings and [cf. Liu et al. in Tohoku Math. J. 53, 553–569 (2001) and Wang in Manuscr. Math. 96, 517–534 (1998)]. Using these Laguerre embeddings we can unify the Laguerre geometry of hypersurfaces in , and . As an example we show that minimal surfaces in or are Laguerre minimal in .C. Wang Partially supported by RFDP and Chuang-Xin-Qun-Ti of NSFC.  相似文献

Let X1 and X2 be subspaces of quotients of R OH and C OH respectively. We use new free probability techniques to construct a completely isomorphic embedding of the Haagerup tensor product into the predual of a sufficiently large QWEP von Neumann algebra. As an immediate application, given any 1 < q ≤ 2, our result produces a completely isomorphic embedding of (equipped with its natural operator space structure) into with a QWEP von Neumann algebra. In this article we extend Milnor’s fibration theorem to the case of functions of the form with f, g holomorphic, defined on a complex analytic (possibly singular) germ (X, 0). We further refine this fibration theorem by looking not only at the link of , but also at its multi-link structure, which is more subtle. We mostly focus on the case when X has complex dimension two. Our main result (Theorem 4.4) gives in this case the equivalence of the following three statements:
(i)  The real analytic germ has 0 as an isolated critical value;
(ii)  the multilink is fibered; and
(iii)  if is a resolution of the holomorphic germ , then for each rupture vertex (j) of the decorated dual graph of π one has that the corresponding multiplicities of f, g satisfy: .
Moreover one has that if these conditions hold, then the Milnor-Lê fibration of is a fibration of the multilink . We also give a combinatorial criterium to decide whether or not the multilink is fibered. If the meromorphic germ f/g is semitame, then we show that the Milnor-Lê fibration given by is equivalent to the usual Milnor fibration given by . We finish this article by discussing several realization problems. Research partially supported by CONACYT and DGAPA-UNAM, Mexico, and by CNRS and ECOS, France.  相似文献

A contact-stationary Legendrian submanifold of is a Legendrian submanifold whose volume is stationary under contact deformations. The simplest contact-stationary Legendrian submanifold (actually minimal Legendrian) is the real, equatorial n-sphere S 0. This paper develops a method for constructing contact-stationary (but not minimal) Legendrian submanifolds of by gluing together configurations of sufficiently many many U(n + 1)-rotated copies of S 0. Two examples of the construction, corresponding to finite cyclic subgroups of U(n + 1) are given. The resulting submanifolds are very symmetric; are geometrically akin to a ‘necklace’ of copies of S 0 attached to each other by narrow necks and winding a large number of times around before closing up on themselves; and are topologically equivalent to .  相似文献

We describe the structure of three dimensional sets of lattice points, having a small doubling property. Let be a finite subset of ℤ3 such that dim = 3. If and , then lies on three parallel lines. Moreover, for every three dimensional finite set that lies on three parallel lines, if , then is contained in three arithmetic progressions with the same common difference, having together no more than terms. These best possible results confirm a recent conjecture of Freiman and cannot be sharpened by reducing the quantity υ or by increasing the upper bounds for .  相似文献

Some results on A -algebras are given. We study the problem when ideals, quotients and hereditary subalgebras of A -algebras are A -algebras or A -algebras, and give a necessary and sufficient condition of a hereditary subalgebra of an A -algebra being an A -algebra.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the minimality of the map for the weighted energy functional , where is a continuous function. We prove that for any integer and any non-negative, non-decreasing continuous function f, the map minimizes E f,p among the maps in which coincide with on . The case p = 1 has been already studied in [Bourgoin J.-C. Calc. Var. (to appear)]. Then, we extend results of Hong (see Ann. Inst. Poincaré Anal. Non-linéaire 17: 35–46 (2000)). Indeed, under the same assumptions for the function f, we prove that in dimension n ≥  7 for any real with , the map minimizes E f,p among the maps in which coincide with on .   相似文献

Let be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Banach space X and γ(T) be the reduced minimum modulus of operator . In this work, we prove that if , is a surjective linear map such that is an invertible operator, then , for every , if and only if, either there exist two bijective isometries and such that for every , or there exist two bijective isometries and such that for every . This generalizes for a Banach space the Mbekhta’s theorem [12].   相似文献

Pairs of numerically satisfactory solutions as for the three-term recurrence relations satisfied by the families of functions , , are given. It is proved that minimal solutions always exist, except when and z is in the positive or negative real axis, and that is minimal as whenever . The minimal solution is identified for any recurrence direction, that is, for any integer values of and . When the confluent limit , with fixed, is the main tool for identifying minimal solutions together with a connection formula; for , is the main tool to be considered.  相似文献

Assume that 1 ≤ p < ∞ and a function fL p [0, π] has the Fourier series $ \sum\limits_{n = 1}^\infty {a_n } Assume that 1 ≤ p < ∞ and a function fL p [0, π] has the Fourier series cos nx. According to one result of G.H. Hardy, the series cos nx is the Fourier series for a certain function (f) ∈ L p [0, π]. But if 1 < p ≤ ∞ and fL p [0, π], then the series cos nx is the Fourier series for a certain function (f) ∈ L p [0, π]. Similar assertions are true for sine series. This allows one to define the Hardy operator on L p (), 1 ≤ p < ∞, and to define the Bellman operator on L p (), 1 < p ≤ ∞. In this paper we prove that the Bellman operator boundedly acts in VMO(), and the Hardy operator also maps a certain subspace C() onto VMO(). We also prove the invariance of certain classes of functions with given majorants of modules of continuity or best approximations in the spaces H(), L(), VMO() with respect to the Hardy and Bellman operators. Let G be a finite group and a formation of finite groups. We say that a subgroup H of G is -supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup T of G such that G = TH and is contained in the -hypercenter of G/H G . In this paper, we use -supplemented subgroups to study the structure of finite groups. A series of previously known results are unified and generalized. Let be a strictly pseudoconvex bounded domain in with C 2 boundary . If a subnormal m-tuple T of Hilbert space operators has the spectral measure of its minimal normal extension N supported on , then T is referred to as a -isometry. Using some non-trivial approximation theorems in the theory of several complex variables, we establish a commutant lifting theorem for those -isometries whose (joint) Taylor spectra are contained in a special superdomain Ω of . Further, we provide a function-theoretic characterization of those subnormal tuples whose Taylor spectra are contained in Ω and that are quasisimilar to a certain (fixed) -isometry T (of which the multiplication tuple on the Hardy space of the unit ball in is a rather special example). Let G = (V, E) be a any simple, undirected graph on n ≥ 3 vertices with the degree sequence . We consider the class of graphs satisfying the condition where , is a positive integer. It is known that is hamiltonian if θ ≤ δ. In this paper,
(i)  we give a necessary and sufficient condition, easy to check, ensuring that is nonhamiltonian and we characterize all the exceptional sub-classes.
(ii)  we prove that is either bipartite or contains cycles of all lengths from 3 to c(G), the length of a longest cycle in G.

It is well known that the quasitorsion class of archimedean -groups is the class of -groups G such that every closed convex -subgroup is a polar, and it is also well known that the class of -groups G such that every convex -subgroup is a polar is a torsion class. By defining a selection on -groups, these two results are generalized to show, whenever and are selections on -groups, the class of -groups G such that is a radical class. Three selections in particular — all convex -subgroups, all polars, and all closed convex -subgroups — and the radical classes determined by them are studied in some detail. We study the complexity of infinite chains and antichains in computable partial orderings. We show that there is a computable partial ordering which has an infinite chain but none that is or , and also obtain the analogous result for antichains. On the other hand, we show that every computable partial ordering which has an infinite chain must have an infinite chain that is the difference of two sets. Our main result is that there is a computably axiomatizable theory K of partial orderings such that K has a computable model with arbitrarily long finite chains but no computable model with an infinite chain. We also prove the corresponding result for antichains. Finally, we prove that if a computable partial ordering has the feature that for every , there is an infinite chain or antichain that is relative to , then we have uniform dichotomy: either for all copies of , there is an infinite chain that is relative to , or for all copies of , there is an infinite antichain that is relative to .  相似文献

The unbalance of an intersecting family is defined as , where is the maximum degree of i.e. the maximum of over all vertices x. We show that the unbalance of a k-uniform intersecting family is at most when n ≥ 6k 3 and we determine all families achieving this bound.  相似文献

Let NM be a finite Jones’ index inclusion of II1 factors and denote by U N U M their unitary groups. In this article, we study the homogeneous space U M /U N , which is a (infinite dimensional) differentiable manifold, diffeomorphic to the orbit of the Jones projection of the inclusion. We endow with a Riemannian metric, by means of the trace on each tangent space. These are pre-Hilbert spaces (the tangent spaces are not complete); therefore, is a weak Riemannian manifold. We show that enjoys certain properties similar to classic Hilbert–Riemann manifolds. Among them are metric completeness of the geodesic distance, uniqueness of geodesics of the Levi-Civita connection as minimal curves, and partial results on the existence of minimal geodesics. For instance, around each point p 1 of , there is a ball (of uniform radius r) of the usual norm of M, such that any point p 2 in the ball is joined to p 1 by a unique geodesic, which is shorter than any other piecewise smooth curve lying inside this ball. We also give an intrinsic (algebraic) characterization of the directions of degeneracy of the submanifold inclusion , where the last set denotes the Grassmann manifold of the von Neumann algebra generated by M and .   相似文献

For finitely generated groups G and H, we prove that there is a weak equivalence G H (G × H) of ku-algebra spectra, where denotes the “unitary deformation K-theory” functor. Additionally, we give spectral sequences for computing the homotopy groups of G and HG in terms of connective K-theory and homology of spaces of G-representations.  相似文献
