This paper considers an epidemic model of a vector-borne disease which has direct mode of transmission in addition to the vector-mediated transmission. The incidence term is assumed to be of the bilinear mass-action form. We include both a baseline ODE version of the model, and, a differential-delay model with a discrete time delay. The ODE model shows that the dynamics is completely determined by the basic reproduction number R0. If R0?1, the disease-free equilibrium is globally stable and the disease dies out. If R0>1, a unique endemic equilibrium exists and is locally asymptotically stable in the interior of the feasible region. The delay in the differential-delay model accounts for the incubation time the vectors need to become infectious. We study the effect of that delay on the stability of the equilibria. We show that the introduction of a time delay in the host-to-vector transmission term can destabilize the system and periodic solutions can arise through Hopf bifurcation.  相似文献

The transmission mechanism of some animal diseases is complex because of the multiple transmission pathways and multiple-group interactions, which lead to the limited understanding of the dynamics of these diseases transmission. In this paper, a delay multi-group dynamic model is proposed in which time delay is caused by the latency of infection. Under the biologically motivated assumptions, the basic reproduction number $R_0$ is derived and then the global stability of the disease-free equilibrium and the endemic equilibrium is analyzed by Lyapunov functionals and a graph-theoretic approach as for time delay. The results show the global properties of equilibria only depend on the basic reproductive number $R_0$: the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable if $R_0\leq 1$; if $R_0>1$, the endemic equilibrium exists and is globally asymptotically stable, which implies time delay span has no effect on the stability of equilibria. Finally, some specific examples are taken to illustrate the utilization of the results and then numerical simulations are used for further discussion. The numerical results show time delay model may experience periodic oscillation behaviors, implying that the spread of animal diseases depends largely on the prevention and control strategies of all sub-populations.  相似文献

Epidemic models are very important in today''s analysis of diseases. In this paper, we propose and analyze an epidemic model incorporating quarantine, latent, media coverage and time delay. We analyze the local stability of either the disease-free and endemic equilibrium in terms of the basic reproduction number $\mathcal{R}_{0}$ as a threshold parameter. We prove that if $\mathcal{R}_{0}<1,$ the time delay in media coverage can not affect the stability of the disease-free equilibrium and if $\mathcal{R}_{0}>1$, the model has at least one positive endemic equilibrium, the stability will be affected by the time delay and some conditions for Hopf bifurcation around infected equilibrium to occur are obtained by using the time delay as a bifurcation parameter. We illustrate our results by some numerical simulations such that we show that a proper application of quarantine plays a critical role in the clearance of the disease, and therefore a direct contact between people plays a critical role in the transmission of the disease.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a new epidemiological model with delay and relapse phenomena. Firstly, a basic reproduction number $R_0$ is identified, which serves as a threshold parameter for the stability of the equilibria of the model. Then, beginning with the delay-free model, the global asymptotic stability of the equilibria is obtained through the construction of suitable Lyapunov functions. For the delay model, the stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of the local Hopf bifurcation are discussed. Furthermore, the application of the normal form theory and center manifold theorem is used to determine the direction and stability of these Hopf bifurcations. Finally, we shed light on corresponding biological implications from a numerical perspective. It turns out that time delay affects the stability of the positive equilibrium, leading to the occurrence of periodic oscillations and disease recurrence.  相似文献

In this paper, we presented a computer virus model using an SIRS model and the threshold value R0 determining whether the disease dies out is obtained. If R0 is less than one, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. By using the time delay as a bifurcation parameter, the local stability and Hopf bifurcation for the endemic state is investigated. Numerical results demonstrate that the system has periodic solution when time delay is larger than a critical values. The obtained results may provide some new insight to prevent the computer virus.  相似文献

We examine the regenerative cutting process by using a single degree of freedom non-smooth model with a friction component and a time delay term. Instead of the standard Lyapunov exponent calculations, we propose a statistical 0-1 test for chaos. This approach reveals the nature of the cutting process signaling regular or chaotic dynamics. Seasonal change has played a critical role in the evolution dynamics of West Nile virus transmission. In this paper, we formulate and analyze a novel delay differential equation model, which incorporates seasonality, the vertical transmission of the virus, the temperature-dependent maturation delay and the temperature-dependent extrinsic incubation period in mosquitoes. We first introduce the basic reproduction ratio $$R_0$$ for this model and then show that the disease is uniformly persistent if $$R_0>1$$. It is also shown that the disease-free periodic solution is attractive if $$R_0<1$$, provided that there is only a small invasion. In the case where all coefficients are constants and the disease-induced death rate of birds is zero, we establish a threshold result on the global attractivity in terms of $$R_0$$. In 2007, Huang proposed the optimal retailer’s replenishment decisions in the EPQ model under two levels of trade credit policy, in which the supplier offers the retailer a permissible delay period M, and the retailer in turn provides its customer a permissible delay period N (with N < M). In this paper, we extend his EPQ model to complement the shortcoming of his model. In addition, we relax the dispensable assumptions of N < M and others. We then establish an appropriate EPQ model to the problem, and develop the proper theoretical results to obtain the optimal solution. Finally, a numerical example is used to illustrate the proposed model and its optimal solution.  相似文献

In this paper we present a new model describing the temporal evolution for multi-instabilities of plastic deformation of stressed monocrystal. This model generalizes that with a single delay presented in [12] and [13]. The plastic instability is due to the increase in dislocation density and the mutual interaction between dislocations, and can be explained by a phase shift, characterized by a time delay between the nucleation and the propagation of dislocations. Here, we consider the general case when several deformation-mechanisms are active, leading to several delays. Using a linear analysis, we deduce a differential equation with two delays. We present some results on existence and stability of the solution according to the characteristics of material and the two delays. Numerical examples for stability and instability of material close to a mean stress using the MATLAB software are also investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, a mathematical model for HIV‐1 infection with antibody, cytotoxic T‐lymphocyte immune responses and Beddington–DeAngelis functional response is investigated. The stability of the infection‐free and infected steady states is investigated. The basic reproduction number R0 is identified for the proposed system. If R0 < 1, then there is an infection‐free steady state, which is locally asymptotically stable. Further, the infected steady state is locally asymptotically stable for R0 > 1 in the absence of immune response delay. We use Nyquist criterion to estimate the length of the delay for which stability continues to hold. Also the existence of the Hopf bifurcation is investigated by using immune response delay as a bifurcation parameter. Numerical simulations are presented to justify the analytical results. In this paper we study the time differential dual-phase-lag model of heat conduction incorporating the microstructural interaction effect in the fast-transient process of heat transport. We analyze the influence of the delay times upon some qualitative properties of the solutions of the initial boundary value problems associated to such a model. Thus, the uniqueness results are established under the assumption that the conductivity tensor is positive definite and the delay times τq and τT vary in the set {0 ≤ τq ≤ 2τT} ∪ {0 < 2τT < τq}. For the continuous dependence problem we establish two different estimates. The first one is obtained for the delay times with 0 ≤ τq ≤ 2τT, which agrees with the thermodynamic restrictions on the model in concern, and the solutions are stable. The second estimate is established for the delay times with 0 < 2τT < τq and it allows the solutions to have an exponential growth in time. The spatial behavior of the transient solutions and the steady-state vibrations is also addressed. For the transient solutions we establish a theorem of influence domain, under the assumption that the delay times are in {0 < τq ≤ 2τT} ∪ {0 < 2τT < τq}. While for the amplitude of the harmonic vibrations we obtain an exponential decay estimate of Saint–Venant type, provided the frequency of vibration is lower than a critical value and without any restrictions upon the delay times.  相似文献

Rapid advances in computing and communications technology have made distributed computing an attractive alternative for geographically dispersed organizations. A telecommunication sub-network forms the backbone of these distributed systems. In general, this paper focuses on the assignment of communication channel capacities in the presence of time variant usage patterns. Specifically, we concentrate on long-range capacity planning for organizations that construct networks by leasing communication channels from telecommunication companies. We formulate the capacity assignment problem as a 0-1 integer program that seeks to minimize total leasing cost subject to communication delay restrictions. Unlike previous models that include a single-system wide-average delay constraint, our model allows the flexibility of specifying delay restrictions by communicating node pairs. We propose an efficient heuristic, and a Lagrangian relaxation based procedure to obtain performance guarantees on the solution obtained from the heuristic.  相似文献

An HIV/AIDS epidemic model with treatment is investigated. The model allows for some infected individuals to move from the symptomatic phase to the asymptomatic phase by all sorts of treatment methods. We first establish the ODE treatment model with two infective stages. Mathematical analyses establish that the global dynamics of the spread of the HIV infectious disease are completely determined by the basic reproduction number 00. If 0≤101, the disease-free equilibrium is globally stable, whereas the unique infected equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable if 0>10>1. Then, we introduce a discrete time delay to the model to describe the time from the start of treatment in the symptomatic stage until treatment effects become visible. The effect of the time delay on the stability of the endemically infected equilibrium is investigated. Moreover, the delay model exhibits Hopf bifurcations by using the delay as a bifurcation parameter. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the results.  相似文献
