The background of the establishment of "chemistry metrology and technology" as an emerging engineering education major based on chemistry is analyzed. Based on the national development strategy, aiming at the urgent demand of interdisciplinary talents for the rapid development of chemistry metrology and technology, the necessity of setting up the major of "chemistry metrology and technology" based on chemistry is demonstrated. Based on the investigation of professional talents in instrument development enterprises and application fields, some suggestions on the program of "chemistry metrology and technology" major including orientation, objectives, graduation requirements and professional training are provided. According to the latest requirements of engineering education professional certification of chemical engineering and technology specialty on organic chemistry laboratory, current situation and problems of organic chemistry laboratory in Jianghan University are discussed from the perspective of teaching mode, teaching content, teachers and students. This paper has explored the blended teaching mode combining the online teaching with the traditional teaching. This teaching mode is successfully applied to the course of organic chemistry laboratory. This paper introduces the exploration of inorganic chemistry course teaching based on the energy chemical engineering major.
