The decay-rate of an eigenstate into the continuum is calculated in a simple 1-dimensional model, when a small uniform electric field is switched on. A new treatment of the problem of a two-dimensional Wannier-Mott exciton in a uniform electric field, based on the parabolic coordinates, is presented. The quasi-stationary Hamiltonian is regularized, and the efficient numerical methods are applied. The dependence of the exciton binding energy on the electric field is computed. The deformations of a real dielectric droplet subjected to a uniform alternating electric field and immersed in an insulating fluid are numerically studied by the Boundary Element Method. The alternating electric field time scale is taken much smaller than the hydrodynamic time scale of the droplet shape deformation. The influence of the frequency and the conductivity of the droplet upon the critical electric field, beyond which instabilities develop, are compared with the experimental measurements. Numerical results well account for experimental data while an unexpected good correspondence with Taylor's theory is found. 相似文献

The torque exerted by a magnetic field on a sphere with permanent electric dipole moment moving steadily in a dielectric fluid is calculated to lowest order in the dipole moment. Hence the force exerted on a steadily rotating sphere with electric dipole moment is found by Onsager symmetry. The modification from the vacuum values of torque and force depends only on the slip parameter and the static dielectric constant of the fluid. It is suggested that for a macroscopic ferro electric sphere the calculated effects could be measured experimentally without great difficulty. 相似文献

The spiking properties of a subcritical Hopf oscillator with a time delayed nonlinear feedback is investigated. Finite time delay is found to significantly affect both the statistics and the fine structure of the spiking behavior. These dynamical changes are explained in terms of the fundamental modifications occurring in the bifurcation scenario of the system. Our mathematical model can find useful applications in understanding the dynamical behavior of various real life excitable systems where propagation delay effects are ubiquitous. 相似文献

利用闭合轨道理论,计算了氢负离子在均匀电场和金属面附近的光剥离截面.结果表明,在均匀电场的基础上加上金属面之后,在电离阈附近氢负离子的光剥离截面发生了很大的变化,和仅有均匀电场存在时的光剥离截面相比,截面的振荡幅度增大,振荡频率减小.并且在电场强度相同时,随着金属面与氢负离子距离的不断增大,光剥离截面振荡的幅度不断减小,振荡的频率不断增大,当金属面和氢负离子的距离增大到一定值时,金属面的影响消失,氢负离子的光剥离截面趋近于只有电场存在时的情况.这一结果对于研究负离子体系在界面附近的光剥离问题具有一定的参考价值. 相似文献

Remarkable modifications of electron scattering in the presence of a strong, low frequency radiation field have been found by Kroll and Watson several years ago. It is shown that these modifications have their exact counterparts in the corresponding X-ray scattering by free and bound electrons. In view of the rapid development towards coherent X-ray sources, such induced radiation processes may become accessible to experimental verification in the near future. 相似文献

Phase field method based on Cahn–Hilliard free energy formulation is adopted for predicting the behavior of double emulsion droplet suspended in a continuous phase under the influence of a uniform electric field. The role played by the inner droplet on the electric-field-driven fluid flow, and also on deformation of the outer droplet is predicted by present numerical simulation. Three different kind of deformation type of outer and inner droplet (prolate–oblate, prolate–prolate and oblate–prolate) has been observed. With increase in the volume fraction of inner drop, transition in the deformation of outer drop from prolate to oblate occurs at lower value of fluid permittivity ratio. 相似文献

The electrohydrodynamic behaviors and evolution processes of silicone oil droplet in castor oil under uniform direct current(DC)electric field are visually observed based on a high-speed microscopic platform.Subsequently,the effects of different working conditions,such as electric field strength,droplet size,etc.,on droplet behaviors are roundly discussed.It can be found that there are four droplet behavior modes,including Taylor deformation,typical oblique rotation,periodic oscillation,and fracture,which change with the increase of electric field strength.It is also demonstrated that the degree of flat ellipse deformation gets larger under a stronger electric field.Moreover,both of the stronger electric field and smaller droplet size lead to an increase in the rotation angle of the droplet. 相似文献

Interaction, polarization, and charges or electric field distribution of conducting spheres in applied electric field are in many fields including electrorheological fluids, electrophoresis, and electrical engineering. A system with two equipotential conducting spheres in an applied uniform electric field is analyzed by image method. A new method is put forward to calculate the image charges distribution when using image method, which ensures the validity of image method to analyze equipotential cases. An apparatus is constructed to measure the force experimentally as well. Results show that the distribution of electric field and electric interaction are different with the case not equipotential. 相似文献

The equilibrium shape of a drop in the electrostatic field of a point charge and a point dipole is asymptotically calculated in terms of the dimensionless deformation of the shape and a ratio between the drop’s radius and the distance to the point charge (dipole). Irrespective of the degree of nonuniformity of the field, the prolate spheroidal deformation (typical of the uniform field) is shown to be the main reason for the change in the equilibrium shape of the spherical drop. When the nonuniformity of the field grows, the equilibrium shape becomes more and more asymmetric and different from the spheroidal one. This, all other things being equal, may influence the critical conditions for the instability of the drop’s surface against an induced charge. It follows from the aforesaid that the drop in the field of the dipole will be the first to undergo instability with the electrostatic pressure on the drop being the same. 相似文献
