An efficient singly resonant intracavity optical parametric oscillator (OPO) is demonstrated based on a type II non-critically phase-matched KTiOAsO4 (KTA) crystal. A diode-end-pumped acousto-optically (AO) Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is used as the pumping source. Under a LD power of 7.43 W and a pulse repetition rate of 15 kHz, we obtain a signal power of 0.93 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 12.5%. This is the highest efficiency reported for the intracavity KTA OPOs. Theoretical analysis on the power characteristics of the OPO is performed. It is proved from the theoretical results that the reflectivity of 63% at the signal wavelength (1535 nm) is a good selection for high average power and high conversion efficiency. We report a singly resonant pulsed intracavity KTiOPO>(4) optical parametric oscillator that uses a semi-monolithic microchip laser design. The compact (50-mm-long), low-threshold (1.3-W) cavity uses a novel quadrupole deflector Q switch to give 4-microJ pulses at 1.064 microm and 0.4-microJ signal pulses of 5.6-ns duration at 1.53 microm with a repetition frequency of 5 kHz when it is pumped with a 2-W laser diode. Comparison between the shared and coupled resonators for the intracavity optical parametric oscillators pumped by passively Q-switched Nd:GdVO4 lasers is experimentally made. The shared and coupled resonators are found to be complementary in the performances of the pulse repetition rate, pulse duration and pulse energy. It is also found that the output signal pulses of the shared cavity explicitly display the mode-locking phenomenon. On the whole, the amplitude stability of the shared cavity configuration is substantially superior to that of the coupled cavity configuration. PACS 42.60.Gd; 42.65.Yj; 42.55.Xi  相似文献

Eye-safe laser of 1573 nm wavelength from a laser-diode (LD) side-pumped actively Q-switched Nd:YAG/KTP intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO) with acousto-optic (AO) modulator is presented. The dependences of the average output power, the pulse width, pulse energy, and the peak power on incident pump current for the generated-signal-light pulses are obtained. By considering the Gaussian spatial distributions of the pump light in laser medium, the photon densities of the fundamental, the signal, and the idle waves as well as the initial population-inversion density and the coupled rate equations of this IOPO are described, in which the influence of the pump rate, the thermal effect in the gain medium and the change of the photon density along the cavity axis have been also taken into account. These coupled equations are solved numerically, and the theoretical calculations are consistent with the experimental results.  相似文献

A diode-laser-array end-pumped acousto-optically Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser, formed with a three-mirror folded resonator, has been demonstrated. With 15 W of pump power incident upon the Nd:GdVO4 crystal, a maximum average green output power of 3.75 W was obtained at 50 kHz of pulse repetition frequency, giving an optical conversion efficiency of 25%, whereas the effective intracavity frequency-doubling efficiency was determined to be 72%. At the incident pump power of 12.8 W, the shortest laser pulse was achieved at a pulse repetition rate of 10 kHz, the resulting pulse width, single pulse energy, and peak power were measured to be 35 ns, 108 μJ, and 3.1 kW, respectively. A high-repetition-rate eye-safe optical parametric oscillator (OPO), using a non-critically phase-matched KTP crystal intracavity pumped by a passively Q-switched Nd:GdVO4/Cr^4+ :YAG laser, is experimentally demonstrated. The conversion efficiency for the average power is 7% from pump diode input to OPO signal output and the slope efficiency is up to 10.3%. With an incident pump power of 7,3 W, the compact intracavity OPO (IOPO) cavity, operating at 15 kHz, produces an average power of 0.57 W at 1570 nm with a pulse width as short as 6 ns. We report a compact KTP-based intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO) driven by a diode-end-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4/Cr:YAG laser. For the first time, we take the thermal lens effect of the Cr:YAG into consideration and discuss its impact on the signal output. Diode pump threshold as low as 0.52 W has been achieved, which is the lowest result reported to date. At the incident diode pump power of 4 W, we obtained the maximum signal average and peak power of 358 mW and 12.5 kW, respectively, corresponding to a diode-to-signal conversion efficiency of 9%. Moreover, cavity-dumping characteristic and pulse transforming process from 1064 to 1573 nm are qualitatively analyzed.  相似文献

An efficient intracavity single-resonant optical parametric oscillator (OPO) at 1.571-μm eye-safe range using a non-criticaily phase-matched KTP crystal is reported. The OPO is excited by a diode side-pumpedelectro-optic Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at 1.064 μm. Signal pulse of 97 mJ and 3.56 ns is obtained under the input electric energy of 2.3 J, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 4.2%, and a repetition rate range of 1--30 Hz.  相似文献

By using a doubly passively Q-switched Nd:Gd3Ga5O12(Nd:GGG) laser with Cr4+:YAG and GaAs as saturable absorbers as pump laser, simultaneous intracavity optical parametric oscillation and stimulated Raman scattering based on a single X-cut KTiOPO4 (KTP) crystal have been realized. Under an incident diode pump power of 10.5 W, the output powers at the signal wave near 1,569 nm and the first Stokes emission near 1,094 nm were 218 and 72 mW, corresponding to the optical-to-optical conversion efficiencies of 2.08 and 0.69 %, respectively. The measured shortest pulse duration at the signal wave near 1,569 nm was 580 ps, generating a pulse peak power of 43.7 kW, while the minimum pulse duration at the first Stokes emission near 1,094 nm was 1.61 ns. By adjusting the tilt angle of the KTP crystal, up to the third Stokes scattering was also obtained.  相似文献

We obtain a continuous-wave (CW) Nd:YVO4/PPMgLN intracavity singly resonant optical parametric oscillator (ISRO). The threshold value of the CW-ISRO system is only 2.8 W at 808 nm. When the pump power is 5.5 W, an idle laser output power of 410 mW, and a signal laser output power of 345 mW have been achieved. By changing the grating periods of the domain structure on the PPMgLN wafer, we enable a wide-tunable mid-infrared spectrum of 2.95–4.16 μm and near-infrared spectrum of 1.43–1.66 μm.  相似文献

An eye-safe, high-repetition-rate, single-resonant nanosecond intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO), based on a non-critically phase-matched KTA crystal driven by a diode-end-pumped acousto-optically Q-switchedNd:YVO4 laser, was demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge. With an absorbed pump power of 11.3 W, 1.1 W average power and 2.5 ns pulse width at the signal (1534 nm) wavelength for 30-kHz repetition rate are synchronously achieved with the 25 mm long KTA crystal. The corresponding peak power and single pulse energy are estimated to be up to 14.7 kW and 36.7 μJ. We derive the threshold pump intensity for a singly resonant intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO)based on a temporal coupled field model.Particular attention is Paid to the dependence of the intracavity singly resonant OPO(SRO)threshold intensity on the signal wave output coupling.Meanwhile,a Nd:YAG laser pumped KTiOPO4(KTP)IOPO for eye-safe laser output is studied experimentally.The experiment is performed with four signal wave output reflectivities of 60%,70%,80%,and 90%,respectively.The measured values are in good agreement with the theoretical results.With an output coupler reflectivity of 80%,a peak power of 70 kW at 1572 nm has been obtained at a repetition rate of 3.5 kHz.The pulse width is 4.9 ns.Such investigation is helpful to identifying suitable operational regime of low pump intensity.  相似文献

A KTiOAsO4 (KTA) intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO) is achieved within a diode end-pumped acousto-optically Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. With a 25-mm-long X-cut KTA crystal, efficient parametric conversions to signal (1535 nm) and idler (3467 nm) waves are realized. At an incident diode power of 14.9 W, the highest output power of 1.83 W including 1.37 W of signal and 0.46 W of idler radiations are obtained at a repetition rate of 40 kHz, corresponding to a total optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 12.3%. Rate equations model are used to simulate this system, and the theoretical results agree with the experimental ones.  相似文献

考虑腔内光子数密度的空间高斯分布以及晶体热效应的影响,给出了LD泵浦Nd∶GdVO4晶体Cr4+∶YAG被动调Q 1.06 μm激光的耦合速率方程组.数值求解该方程组获得了输出激光的脉冲宽度、重复率、峰值功率以及单脉冲能量随泵浦功率的变化特性,其理论值与实验结果相符.  相似文献
