In an effort to resolve the existing discrepancy between experiment and theory, the cross-sections for the production ofL l,L α ,L β andL γ groups ofL-shell X-rays of Ho by photons of nine energies in the range 10–40 keV have been measured using an improved version of annular source double reflection geometrical set-up. Contrary to the earlier findings of Garget al that the measured values of the cross-sections are consistently higher than those calculated theoretically, the present results do not confirm this. The plausible deficiencies in the experiments of Garget al are pointed out and possible remedies to overcome them are suggested. It is concluded that the higher values obtained by Garget al are probably due to systematic errors in their method of measurement.  相似文献

The stationary spatial structures arising in the Schlögl model of first order nonequilibrium phase transitions are investigated for a one-dimensionals system of finite length.The solution manifold and the occurring bifurcations are analysed systematically by varying the type of boundary condition, the boundary valuev R ,the system lengthL and the control parameterg. It is shown by plotting appropriate state diagrams that the bistability range of the infinite system is shifted to larger values ofg for small fixedv R and to smaller values ofg for largev R ,and that the shift depends sensitively uponL.  相似文献

We investigate the transition temperature of layered superconductors by considering a stack ofL z superconducting layers, separated by insulating material. We adopt a pairing Hamiltonian, invoke the variational principle and solve the resulting gap equations numerically. Our results confirm previous weak coupling and Ginzburg-Landau treatments and reveal a rise ofT c withL z and saturation at the bulk transition temperature. Thus, the rise ofT c is traced back to a finite size effect, corresponding to a crossover from 2-d to 3-d superconductivity. The results also reveal a sizeable variation of the gap along the stack with pronounced variation at the ends.  相似文献

Summary The interacting reference response functionX I [3](k) of three-dimensional jellium ink space was defined by Niklasson in terms of the momentum distribution of the interacting electron assembly. Here the Fourier transformF I [d](r) ofX I [d] (k) is studied for the jellium model withe 2/r interactions in dimensionalityd=1,2 and 3, in an extension of recent work by Holas, March and Tosi for the cased=3. The small-r and large-r forms ofF I [d] (r) are explicitly evaluated from the analytic behaviour of the momentum distributionn d(p). In the appendix, a model ofn d (p) is constructed which interpolates between these limits.  相似文献

Summary  Capacitance-voltage measurements have been carried out onp-type ɛ-GaSe single crystal ∥c in the temperature range 300 to 360 K, with applied voltages of -1, 0 and +1 V. TheC-V measurements in this temperature range have shown a shift in capacitanceC and conductanceG to the higher values with an increase in temperature. The depletion layer widthW, the Debye length LD and the doping densityN α have been worked out and plots ofN α vs. W have shown a decrease inW with an increase in temperature. The plots of LD vs. N α vary as 1/Nα1/2, which gives NαLD ⋍ 3.3 × 1011 charges/m2 for doping density of 1016m−3. The values ofG at different temperatures have been used to obtain the activation energies, which are found to be ΔE ⋍ 0.11 eV for -1 and +1 V applied voltages, and ΔE ⋍ 0.06 eV for zero volt. Summary The spin-orbit structure ofF A centres in KCl:Li and KCl:Na have been studied by means of the magnetic circular dichroism. Due to theirC 4V symmetry theF A centres have two different spin-orbit parameters, Δ and Δ, which only in the KCl:Li case follow the relation: Δ < ΔF < Δ as expected from the theory. For a close comparison we have also reported our measurement of the spin-orbit coupling ofF centre in KCl. The spin-orbit parameters of theF andF A centres have been determined using the method of moment.  相似文献

We have investigated theL/K- and theL/M-capture ratio of65Zn. For the transitions to the first excited state of65Cu we obtained (N L/N K) A =0.120±3% and (N M/N L) A =0.153±13% and for both transitions to the groundstate and the first excited state simultaneously we found (N L/N K) G =0.118±3%. The values for (N L/N K) agree well with the results of Santos Ocampo and Conway but are higher than the results of Totzek and Hoffmann. All values are discussed in view of the different theoretical values obtainable.  相似文献

Synchrotron‐based L2,3‐edge absorption spectra show strong sensitivities to the local electronic structure and chemical environment. However, detailed physical information cannot be extracted easily without computational aids. Here, using the experimental Ti L2,3‐edges absorption spectrum of SrTiO3 as a fingerprint and considering full multiplet effects, calculations yield different energy parameters characterizing local ground state properties. The peak splitting and intensity ratios of the L3 and L2 set of peaks are carefully analyzed quantitatively, giving rise to a small hybridization energy around 1.2 eV, and the different hybridization energy values reported in the literature are further addressed. Finally, absorption spectra with different linearly polarized photons under various tetragonal crystal fields are investigated, revealing a non‐linear orbital–lattice interaction, and a theoretical guidance for material engineering of SrTiO3‐based thin films and heterostructures is offered. Detailed analysis of spectrum shifts with different tetragonal crystal fields suggests that the eg crystal field splitting is a necessary parameter for a thorough analysis of the spectra, even though it is not relevant for the ground state properties.  相似文献

A one parameter quantum deformationS μ L(2,) ofSL(2,) is introduced and investigated. An analog of the Iwasawa decomposition is proved. The compact part of this decomposition coincides withS μ U(2), whereas the solvable part is identified as a Pontryagin dual ofS μ U(2). It shows thatS μ L(2,) is the result of the dual version of Drinfeld's double group construction applied toS μ U(2). The same construction applied to any compact quantum groupG c is discussed in detail. In particular the explicit formulae for the Haar measures on the Pontryagin dualG d ofG c and on the double groupG are given. We show that there exists remarkable 1-1 correspondence between representations ofG and bicovariant bimodules (“tensor bundles”) overG c . The theory of smooth representations ofS μ L(2,) is the same as that ofSL(2,) (Clebsh-Gordon coefficients are however modified). The corresponding “tame” bicovariant bimodules onS μ U(2) are classified. An application to 4D + differential calculus is presented. The nonsmooth case is also discussed.  相似文献

Excitonic resonance structures in GaAs/AlAs multiple quantum well heterostructures with varying barrier-layer thicknessesL B down to 1.3 nm are investigated for two sets of samples with the nominal well widths ofL Z =9.2 and 6.4 nm, by 2K photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy. The observed resonance energies of then=1 heavyhole (1 hh) and light-hole (1 lh) free excitons imply that quantum confinement effects persist at least down to the decreased barrier-layer thickness ofL B =1.3 nm. This result is inconsistent with the red shifts expected from the simple well-coupling theory within the one-band Kronig-Penney model at the point. Instead, blue shifts of 6–8 meV (8–17 meV) are observed for the 1 hh (1 lh) excitonic resonance peaks whenL B is decreased from 10 to 2 nm. A relative decrease of the oscillator strength of the 1 lh transition compared to the 1 hh transition is also observed asL B is decreased. These results manifest important effects of the indirect-gap barrier material for the actual wavefunction matching across the interface and the breakdown of the envelope function approach to GaAs/AlAs quantum well heterostructures with ultrathin barriers.  相似文献

The work of J. A. Krommes and R. A. Smith on rigorous upper bounds for the turbulent transport of a passively advected scalar is extended in two directions: (1) For their reference model, improved upper bounds are obtained by utilizing more sophisticated two-time constraints which include the effects of cross-correlations up to fourth order. Numerical solutions of the model stochastic differential equation are also obtained; they show that the new bounds compare quite favorably with the exact results, even at large Reynolds and Kubo numbers. (2) The theory is extended to take account of afinite spatial autocorrelation lengthL c. As a reasonably generic example, the problem of particle transport due to statistically specified stochastic magnetic fields in a collisionless turbulent plasma is revisited. A bound is obtained which reduces for smallL c to the quasilinear limit and for largeL c to the strong turbulence limit, and which provides a reasonable and rigorous interpolation for intermediate values ofL c.  相似文献

That the longlived componentL ofK 0 has bothcp=+1 andcp=−1 modes of decay is often cited as evidence of violation ofcp invariance. The careful ones find the compelling evidence to be the non-dilution of the regeneration interference pattern when the incidentK 0 beam is mixed even substantially with . However the two phenomena comprehensively imply thatL has acp=+1 componentL + and acp=−1 componentL and that the longlived component of bothK 0 and are one and the sameL. We accurately measured the noise temperature and conversion loss of a cryogenically cooled Schottky diode operating near 800 GHz, using the UCB/MPE Submillimeter Receiver at the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. The receiver temperature was in the range of the best we now routinely measure, 3150 K (DSB). Without correcting for optical loss or IF mismatch, the raw measurements set upper limits ofT M=2850 K andL M=9.1 dB (DSB), constant over at least a 1 GHz IF band centered at 6.4 GHz with an LO frequency of 803 GHz. Correction for estimated optical coupling and mismatch effects yieldsT M=1600 K andL M=5.5 dB (DSB) for the mixer diode itself. These values indicate that our receiver noise temperature is dominated by the corner cube antenna's optical efficiency and by mixer noise, but not by conversion loss or IF mismatch. The small fractional IF bandwidth, measured mixer IF band flatness from 2 to 8 GHz, and similarly good receiver temperatures at other IF frequencies imply that these values are representative over a range of frequencies near 800 GHz.  相似文献

We present an analytical expression for the small-signal gain of a Free Electron Laser (FEL) in the presence of a Gaussian mode. To describe the electron beam evolution we use the one-dimensional (1-d) Vlasov equation. TheK-electron capture probabilities for the 1/2? → 3/2? and 1/2? → 1/2+ transitions in the decay of105Ag were measured for the first time using the sum coincidence method. The experimental PK values were estimated to be 0.824 ± 0.042 and 0.851 ±0.046 for the allowed and first-forbidden beta transitions, respectively in agreement with the theory. The PL experimental values to these two levels were also computed using the experimental PL/PK values reported by earlier authors. These results are also found to be consistent with the theoretical PL values.  相似文献

The impact parameter dependence of the ionization of GoldL-subshells has been measured and compared to theoretical values calculated in the SCA framework by Aashamar et al. [17]. Special attention has been paid to large scattering angle measurements and results are obtained for0 lab=30°, 45°, 65°, 90°, 110°, 130°, 153° and 166°. Taking into account the sum ofL α ,L β ,L γ ,L α ,L l lines we conclude firstly that the experimental ionization probabilityP(b) is in good agreement with the theoretical values. Secondly, comparing experimental and theoretical intensity of (L α +L l ) and (L γ +L β ) X-ray lines, we show that ionization ofL II andL III subshells is also fairly well described by the SCA model.  相似文献
