Synthesis of 1-[(1,2-dithiol-3-ylidene)methyl]pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazines and 2-[(1,2-dithiol-3-ylidene)methyl]pyridines from 1,2-dithiole-3-thiones

Benzo- and pyridoannulated 1,2-dithiole-3-thiones react with compounds containing an activated methyl group such as 1-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazine and 2-methylpyridines to furnish substituted 1,2-dithiol-3-ylidenes.     

Synthesis and lanthanide coordination chemistry of 2-[(phosphinoyl)methyl]-4,5-dihydrooxazole and 2-[(phosphinoyl)methyl]benzoxazole ligands

Syntheses for [(diphenylphosphinoyl)methyl]-4,5-dihydrooxazole (2) and [(diarylphosphinoyl)methyl]benzoxazoles [aryl = phenyl (3), tolyl (4), 2-trifluoromethylphenyl (5) and 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl (6)] have been developed. Each ligand has been characterized by spectroscopic methods and single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses have been completed for 2, 3, 4 and 5. The coordination chemistry of the ligands with Nd(NO₃)₃ and Yb(NO₃)₃ has been examined and structure determinations for [Nd(2)₂(NO₃)₃(CH₃OH)], [Nd(2)₂(NO₃)₃], [Yb(3)₂(NO₃)₃(H₂O)]·0.5(CH₃OH), [Nd(3)₂(NO₃)₃]·3(CHCl₃), [Nd(4)₂(NO₃)₃(H₂O)], [Yb(4)₂(NO₃)₃(H₂O)] and [Yb(5)₂(NO₃)₃(H₂O)]·0.5(CH₃CN) are reported. Depending upon conditions, the ligands act as monodentate PO or bidentate, chelating PO,N donors.     

Synthesis, molecular, and crystal structure of 3,4-bis[(2,6-di-tert-butyl-4H-pyran-4-ylidene)methyl]cyclobut-3-ene-1,2-dione and -1,2-dithione

Two new dyes have been prepared, 3,4-bis[(2,6-di-tert-butyl-4H-pyran-4-ylidene)methyl]-cyclobut-3-ene-1,2-dione and -1,2-dithione. Their molecular and crystal structures have been studied by X-ray diffraction, and their spectral properties have been characterized. The heterocyclic fragments in the dyes molecules are in the trans-position with respect to the bonds connecting chromophore CH group with the 4-membered ring. Substitution of the carbonyl oxygen to sulfur leads to change in the crystal packing.     

Microwave Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Bis {2- [（2,4-dichloro-phenylimino）- methyl]-4,6-diiodo-phenol}-copper（II）

Bis{2-[(2,4-dichloro-phenylimino)-methyl]-4,6-diiodo-phenol}-copper(II) (1) has been synthesized and its structure determined by X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2 1 /n with a=14.7558(17), b=20.770(2), c=20.3260(19) , β=90.6110(10)°, V=6229.2(11) 3 and Z=8. The Cu atom is surrounded by two O atoms and two N atoms from two 2-[(2,4-dichloro-phenylimino)-methyl]-4,6-diiodo-phenol molecules to form a tetrahedral coordination environment. The complex is linked into a column by weak intermolecular interactions.

Synthesis of 1,3-bis[(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-oxocyclohexa-2,5-dienylidene)(dimethoxyphosphoryl)methyl]-4,6-dimethoxybenzene

A reaction of 1,3-dimethoxybenzene with dimethyl (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-oxocyclohexa-2,5-dienylidenemethyl)phosphonate gave rise to 1,3-bis[(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-(dimethoxyphosphoryl)methyl]-4,6-dimethoxybenzene, which was oxidized to 1,3-bis[(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-oxocyclohexa-2,5-dienylidene)(dimethoxyphosphoryl)methyl]-4,6-dimethoxy-benzene.

3-Aryl-5-[(aryloxy)methyl]-3-[(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methyl]-2-methylisoxazolidine derivatives. Synthesis and antifungal activity

The synthesis and antifungal activity of a novel series of 3-aryl-5-[(aryloxy)methyl]-3-[(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-methyl]-2-methylisoxazolidines are described. The in vitro activity was evaluated in solid agar cultures against a variety of dermatophytes and yeast fungi, while in vivo activity was measured in an immune-compromised mouse model of systemic candidiasis. The activity of the title series was compared to that of ketoconazole and one derivative, the cis-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(4-chlorophenyloxy)methyl analogue 5f was found to possess a similar potency in the in vivo assay. Structure-activity relationship correlations are also discussed.

Synthesis of methyl (E)-2-[(3S,4S)-4-hydroxy-3-(pent-3-yloxy)-pyrrolidin-2-ylidene]propanoate and its unusual recyclization

Methyl (2E,4S,5S)-5-hydroxy-6-mesyloxy-2-methyl-4-(pent-3-yloxy)hex-2-enoate was synthesized from l-tartaric acid. Attempted substitution of the mesyloxy group by the reaction with NaN₃ directly led to methyl (E)-2-[(3S,4S)-4-hydroxy-3-(pent-3-yloxy)pyrrolidin-2-ylidene]propanoate. The latter on treatment with CF₃COOH and then NaOH gave methyl (2E)-2-methyl-4-[(S)-oxiran-2-yl]-4-(pent-3-yloxy)but-2-enoate.
